Given a holomorphic vector bundle $E:EX X$ over a compact Kähler manifold, one introduces twisted GW-invariants of $X$ replacing virtual fundamental cycles of moduli spaces of stable maps $f: Σ\to X$ by their cap-product with a chosen multiplicative characteristic class of $H^0(Σ, f^* E) - H^1(Σ, f^*E)$. Using the formalism of quantized quadratic hamiltonians, we express the descendent potential for the twisted theory in terms of that for $X$. The result (Theorem 1) is a consequence of Mumford's Riemann -- Roch -- Grothendieck formula applied to the universal stable map.
When $E$ is concave, and the inverse $\CC^{\times}$-equivariant Euler class is chosen, the twisted theory yields GW-invariants of $EX$. The ``non-linear Serre duality principle'' expresses GW-invariants of $EX$ via those of the supermanifold $ΠE^*X$, where the Euler class and $E^*$ replace the inverse Euler class and $E$. We derive from Theorem 1 the nonlinear Serre duality in a very general form (Corollary 2).
When the bundle $E$ is convex, and a submanifold $Y\subset X$ is defined by a global section, the genus 0 GW-invariants of $ΠE X$ coincide with those of $Y$. We prove a ``quantum Lefschetz hyperplane section principle'' (Theorem 2) expressing genus 0 GW-invariants of a complete intersection $Y$ via those of $X$. This extends earlier results of Y.-P. Lee and A. Gathmann and yields most of the known mirror formulas for toric complete intersections.
In this article, we consider regular projective arithmetic schemes in the context of Arakelov geometry, any of which is endowed with an action of the diagonalisable group scheme associated to a finite cyclic group and with an equivariant very ample invertible sheaf. For any equivariant morphism between such arithmetic schemes, which is smooth over the generic fibre, we define a direct image map between corresponding higher equivariant arithmetic K-groups and we discuss its transitivity property. Then we use the localization sequence of higher arithmetic K-groups and the higher arithmetic conce…
V. Lunts has recently established Lefschetz fixed point theorems for Fourier-Mukai functors and dg algebras. In the same vein, D. Shklyarov introduced the noncommutative analogue of the Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch theorem. In this short article, we see how these constructions and computations formally stem from their motivic counterparts.
This is the first article in an upcoming series of papers. They have arisen through an attempt to answer open questions of Deligne proposed in "Le determinant de la cohomologie", Contemp. Mathematics 67 (1987). It amounts to functorial and metrized versions of the Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch theorem, as well as a Lefschetz-Riemann-Roch formula in the sense of Thomason, cf. "Lefschetz-Riemann-Roch theorem and coherent trace formula" Ann. Sci. Ec. Norm. Sup. 18 (1985), Theorem 3.5. In this article we treat various preliminary results on virtual categories which are the categories where the Deligne…
Given a vector bundle $F$ on a smooth Deligne-Mumford stack $\X$ and an invertible multiplicative characteristic class $\bc$, we define the orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants of $\X$ twisted by $F$ and $\bc$. We prove a "quantum Riemann-Roch theorem" which expresses the generating function of the twisted invariants in terms of the generating function of the untwisted invariants. A Quantum Lefschetz Hyperplane Theorem is derived from this by specializing to genus zero. As an application, we determine the relationship between genus-0 orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants of $\X$ and that of a complet…
----- We construct three families of automorphic forms following the arithmetic Riemann-Roch theorem and the arithmetic Lefschetz formula. Two of these families were already constructed by Yoshikawa and our construction illuminates their arithmetic origin.
In this paper we construct arithmetic analogs of the Riemann-Roch theorem and Serre's duality for line bundles. This improves on the works of Tate and van der Geer - Schoof. We define $H^0(L)$ and $H^1(L)$ as some convolution of measures structures. The $H^1$ is defined by a procedure very similar to the usual Cech cohomology. We get Serre's duality as Pontryagin duality of convolution structures. We get separately Riemann-Roch formula and Serre's duality. Instead of using the Poisson summation formula, we basically reprove it. The whole theory is pretty much parallel to the geometric case.
We study the existence of $L^2$ holomorphic sections of invariant line bundles over Galois coverings of Zariski open sets in Moishezon manilolds. We show that the von Neuman dimension of the space of $L^2$ holomorphic sections is bounded below under reasonable curvature conditions. We also give criteria for a a compact complex space with isolated singularities and some related strongly pseudoconcave manifolds to be Moishezon. Their coverings are then studied with the same methods. As applications we give weak Lefschetz theorems using the Napier--Ramachandran proof of the Nori theorem.
The present note establishes the equivalence of Mac Williams identities for an additive code C and its dual to Polarized Riemann-Roch Conditions on their Zeta-functions. In such a way, the duality of additive codes appears to be a polarized form of the Serre duality on a smooth irreducible projective curve.
We prove that the Local Fundamental Group Scheme satisfies the Lefschetz - Bott theorems in characteristic p. The proofs are standard applications of the Enriques-Severi -Zariski-Serre vanishing theorems and known facts about the p-curvature
We introduce a notion of Hochschild Lefschetz class for a good coherent D-module on a compact complex manifold, and prove that this class is compatible with the direct image functor. We prove an orbifold Riemann-Roch formula for a D-module on a compact complex orbifold.
Suppose $X$ is a smooth projective scheme of finite type over a field $K$, $\mathcal{E}$ is a locally free ${\mathcal{O}}_{X}$-bimodule of rank 2, $\mathcal{A}$ is the non-commutative symmetric algebra generated by $\mathcal{E}$ and ${\sf Proj}\A$ is the corresponding non-commutative $\mathbb{P}^{1}$-bundle. We use the properties of the internal $\operatorname{Hom}$ functor $\HU(-,-)$ to prove versions of Serre finiteness and Serre vanishing for ${\sf Proj}\A$. As a corollary to Serre finiteness, we prove that ${\sf Proj}\A$ is Ext-finite. This fact is used in \cite{izu} to prove that if $X$ i…
Let D be a holomorphic differential operator acting on sections of a holomorphic vector bundle on an n-dimensional compact complex manifold. We prove a formula, conjectured by Feigin and Shoikhet, for the Lefschetz number of D as the integral over the manifold of a differential form. The class of this differential form is obtained via formal differential geometry from the canonical generator of the Hochschild cohomology of the algebra of differential operators in a formal neighbourhood of a point. If D is the identity, the formula reduces to the Riemann--Roch--Hirzebruch formula.
The goal of this series of papers is to give a new non-commutative approach to problems about the density of reductions such as the conjecture of Joshi-Rajan, and the generalization of the conjecture of Serre. In this paper, we prove integral Grothendieck Riemann-Roch which was proved by Papas in the case ch$(k)=0$. As a corollary we prove an integral analogue of Kontsevich's comparison theorem, and we show that if a smooth projective variety $X$ has a full exceptional collection then there is an explicit formula of the motive of $X$ up to bounded torsion.
According to Taubes, the Gromov invariants of a symplectic four-manifold X with b_+ > 1 satisfy the duality Gr(A) = +/- Gr(K-A), where K is Poincare dual to the canonical class. Extending joint work with Simon Donaldson in math.SG/0012067, we interpret this result in terms of Serre duality on the fibres of a Lefschetz pencil, by proving an analogous symmetry for invariants counting sections of associated bundles of symmetric products. Using similar methods we give a new proof of an existence theorem for symplectic surfaces in four-manifolds with b_+ = 1 and b_1 = 0. This reproves another theor…
We prove a Riemann-Roch theorem of an entirely novel nature for divisors on the Arakelov compactification of the algebraic spectrum of the integers. This result relies on the introduction of three key concepts: the cohomologies (attached to a divisor), their integer dimension, and Serre duality. These notions directly extend their classical counterparts for function fields. The Riemann-Roch formula equates the (integer valued) Euler characteristic of a divisor with a slight modification of the traditional expression in terms of the sum of the degree of the divisor and the logarithm of 2. Both …
Fulton and MacPherson introduced the notion of bivariant theories and Grothendieck transformations related to Riemann-Roch-theorems. But there are many situations, where such a bivariant theory or a corresponding Grothendieck transformation is only partially known: characteristic classes of singular spaces (e.g. Stiefel-Whitney or Chern classes), cohomology operations (e.g. singular Adams Riemann-Roch and Steenrod operations for Chow groups) or equivariant theories (e.g. Lefschetz Riemann-Roch). We introduce in this paper a simpler notion of partial (weak) bivariant theories and partial Grothe…
Suppose $(M,ω)$ is a compact symplectic manifold acted on by a compact Lie group $K$ in a Hamiltonian fashion, with moment map $μ: M \to \Lie(K)^*$ and Marsden-Weinstein reduction $M_{red} = μ^{-1}(0)/K$. In this paper, we assume that $M$ has a $K$-invariant Kähler structure. In an earlier paper, we proved a formula (the residue formula) for $η_0 e^{ω_0}[M_{red}]$ for any $η_0 \in H^*(M_{red})$, where $ω_0$ is the induced symplectic form on $M_{red}$. Here we apply the residue formula in the special case $η_0 = Td(M_{red})$; when $K$ acts freely on $μ^{-1}(0)$ this yields a formula for the Rie…
