For a (semi-)model category M, we define a notion of a ''homotopy'' Grothendieck topology on M, as well as its associated model category of stacks. We use this to define a notion of geometric stack over a symmetric monoidal base model category; geometric stacks are the fundamental objects to "do algebraic geometry over model categories". We give two examples of applications of this formalism. The first one is the interpretation of DG-schemes as geometric stacks over the model category of complexes and the second one is a definition of etale K-theory of E_{\infty}-ring spectra.
This first version is very preliminary and might be considered as a detailed research announcement. Some proofs, more details and more examples will be added in a forthcoming version.
The manuscript is an overview of the motivations and foundations lying behind Voevodsky's ideas of constructing categories similar to the ordinary topological homotopy categories. The objects of these categories are strictly related to algebraic varieties and preserve some of their algebraic invariants.
Let $S$ be a scheme contained in $\mathbf{Sch}_{fppf}$. Let $\mathfrak{X}$ be a Noetherian separated algebraic space over $S$. In this paper, we interpret localizing subcategories of the derived category of $\mathfrak{X}$ by using subsets of $|\mathfrak{X}|$.
We generalise recent results of M. Hovey and N. Strickland on comodule categories for Landweber exact algebras using the formalism of algebraic stacks.
We determine the homological dimension of various isogeny categories of commutative algebraic groups over a field $k$, in terms of the cohomological dimension of $k$ at certain primes. This generalizes results of Serre, Oort and Milne, by an alternative approach.
We prove that algebraic G-theory in is representable in unstable and stable motivic homotopy categories; in the stable category we identify it with the Borel-Moore theory associated to algebraic K-theory, and show that such an identification is compatible with the functorialities defined by Quillen and Thomason.
Using the theory infinity-categories we construct derived (dg-)categories of regular, holonomic D-modules and algebraically constructible sheaves on a complex smooth algebraic stack. We construct a natural infinity-categorical equivalence between these two categories generalising the classical Riemann-Hilbert correspondence.
Let $X$ be an algebraic stack with quasi-affine diagonal of finite type over a field $k$ of characteristic $0$. We extend the well-known equivalence $\mathsf{D}^+(\mathsf{QCoh}(X)) \simeq \mathsf{D}_{\mathrm{qc}}^+(X)$ to unbounded derived categories. We also prove that if $X$ is smooth over $k$, then $\mathsf{D}_{\mathrm{qc}}(X)$ is compactly generated. We accomplish the former using the descendable algebras of Mathew. We also establish related results in positive and mixed characteristics.
Let $k$ be a field. We characterize the group schemes $G$ over $k$, not necessarily affine, such that $\mathsf{D}_{\mathrm{qc}}(B_kG)$ is compactly generated. We also describe the algebraic stacks that have finite cohomological dimension in terms of their stabilizer groups.
This note is supposed to answer some questions on deformation theory in derived algebraic geometry. We show that derived algebraic geometry allows for a geometrical interpretation of the full cotangent complex and gives a natural setting for deformation and obstruction theories.
We prove that the dg category of perfect complexes on a smooth, proper Deligne-Mumford stack over a field of characteristic zero is geometric in the sense of Orlov, and in particular smooth and proper. On the level of triangulated categories, this means that the derived category of perfect complexes embeds as an admissible subcategory into the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on a smooth, projective variety. The same holds for a smooth, projective, tame Artin stack over an arbitrary field.
This paper is based on a talk at a conference "JDG 2017: Conference on Geometry and Topology". We survey recent progress on the DK hypothesis connecting the birational geometry and the derived categories stating that the K-equivalence of smooth projective varieties should correspond to the equivalence of their derived categories, and the K-inequality to the fully faithful embedding.
Under certain conditions, a scheme can be reconstructed from its category of quasi-coherent sheaves. The Tannakian reconstruction theorem provides another example where a geometric object can be reconstructed from an associated category, in this case the category of its finite dimensional representations. Lurie's result that the pseudofunctor which sends a geometric stack to its category of quasi-coherent sheaves is fully faithful provides a conceptual explanation for why this works. In this paper we prove a generalized Tannakian recognition theorem, in order to characterize a part of the imag…
Let $X$ be a quasi-compact and quasi-separated scheme. There are two fundamental and pervasive facts about the unbounded derived category of $X$: (1) $\mathsf{D}_{\mathrm{qc}}(X)$ is compactly generated by perfect complexes and (2) if $X$ is noetherian or has affine diagonal, then the functor $Ψ_X \colon \mathsf{D}(\mathsf{QCoh}(X)) \to \mathsf{D}_{\mathrm{qc}}(X)$ is an equivalence. Our main results are that for algebraic stacks in positive characteristic, the assertions (1) and (2) are typically false.
In this work we consider the question of realizing triangulated dg-categories by derived categories of algebraic varieties. For this, we introduce the notion of "system of points" in saturated dg-categories. We show that given such a system on a dg-category T, we can construct an algebraic space M, of finite type, smooth and separated, together with a dg-functor from T to a certain twisted dg-category of sheaves on M. We prove that this functor is furthermore an equivalence if and only if M is proper. All along this work we study t-strutcures on algebraic families of objects in T, which might …
We develop a theory of unbounded derived categories of quasi-coherent sheaves on algebraic stacks. In particular, we show that these categories are compactly generated by perfect complexes for stacks that either have finite stabilizers or are local quotient stacks. We also extend Toën and Antieau--Gepner's results on derived Azumaya algebras and compact generation of sheaves on linear categories from derived schemes to derived Deligne--Mumford stacks. These are all consequences of our main theorem: compact generation of a presheaf of triangulated categories on an algebraic stack is local for t…
We study the interaction between geometric operations on stacks and algebraic operations on their categories of sheaves. We work in the general setting of derived algebraic geometry: our basic objects are derived stacks X and their oo-categories QC(X) of quasicoherent sheaves. We show that for a broad class of derived stacks, called perfect stacks, algebraic and geometric operations on their categories of sheaves are compatible. We identify the category of sheaves on a fiber product with the tensor product of the categories of sheaves on the factors. We also identify the category of sheaves on…
In this brief postscript to our paper "Integral transforms and Drinfeld centers in derived algebraic geometry", we describe a Morita equivalence for derived, categorified matrix algebras implied by theory developed since its appearance. We work in the setting of perfect stacks X and their stable infinity-categories Q(X) of quasicoherent sheaves. Perfect stacks include all varieties and common stacks in characteristic zero, and their stable infinity-categories of sheaves are well behaved refinements of their quasicoherent derived categories, satisfying natural analogues of common properties of …
We develop the framework for augmented homotopical algebraic geometry. This is an extension of homotopical algebraic geometry, which itself is a homotopification of classical algebraic geometry. To do so, we define the notion of augmentation categories, which are a special class of generalised Reedy categories. For an augmentation category, we prove the existence of a closed Quillen model structure on the presheaf category which is compatible with the Kan-Quillen model structure on simplicial sets. Moreover, we use the concept of augmented hypercovers to define a local model structure on the c…
This article deals with the quotient category of the category of coherent sheaves on an irreducible smooth projective variety by the full subcategory of sheaves supported in codimension greater than c. It turns out that this category has homological dimension c. As an application of this, we will describe the space of stability conditions on its derived category in the case c=1. Moreover, we describe all exact equivalences between these quotient categories in this particular case which is closely related to classification problems in birational geometry.
This dissertation comprises three collections of results, all united by a common theme. The theme is the study of categories via algebraic techniques, considering categories themselves as algebraic objects. This algebraic approach to category theory is central to noncommutative algebraic geometry, as realized by recent advances in the study of noncommutative motives. We have success proving algebraic results in the general setting of symmetric monoidal and semiring $\infty$-categories, which categorify abelian groups and rings, respectively. For example, we prove that modules over the semiring…
Let X be an algebraic variety with an action of an algebraic group G. Suppose X has a full exceptional collection of sheaves, and these sheaves are invariant under the action of the group. We construct a semiorthogonal decomposition of bounded derived category of G-equivariant coherent sheaves on X into components, equivalent to derived categories of twisted representations of the group. If the group is finite or reductive over the algebraically closed field of zero characteristic, this gives a full exceptional collection in the derived equivariant category. We apply our results to particular …

We give scheme-theoretic descriptions of the category of fibre functors on the categories of sheaves associated to the Zariski, Nisnevich, étale, rh, cdh, ldh, eh, qfh, and h topologies on the category of separated schemes of finite type over a separated noetherian base. Combined with a theorem of Deligne on the existence of enough points, this provides an algebro-geometric description of a conservative family of fibre functors on these categories of sheaves. As an example of an application we show direct image along a closed immersion is exact for all these topologies except qfh. The methods …
After introducing a noncommutative counterpart of commutative algebraic geometry based on monoidal categories of quasi-coherent sheaves we show that various constructions in noncommutative geometry (e.g. Morita equivalences, Hopf-Galois extensions) can be given geometric meaning extending their geometric interpretations in the commutative case. On the other hand, we show that some constructions in commutative geometry (e.g. faithfully flat descent theory, principal fibrations, equivariant and infinitesimal geometry) can be interpreted as noncommutative geometric constructions applied to commut…
Originally a technical tool, the derived category of coherent sheaves over an algebraic variety has become over the last twenty years an important invariant in the birational study of algebraic varieties. Problems of birational invariance and of minimization of the derived category have appeared, inspired by Kontsevich's homological mirror symmetry conjecture and Mori's minimal model program. We present the main conjectures and their proofs in dimension 3 and for particular classes of flops.

Real algebraic geometry adapts the methods and ideas from (complex) algebraic geometry to study the real solutions to systems of polynomial equations and polynomial inequalities. As it is the real solutions to such systems modeling geometric constraints that are physically meaningful, real algebraic geometry is a core mathematical input for geometric constraint systems.
In this survey article we discuss a framework of noncommutative geometry with differential graded categories as models for spaces. We outline a construction of the category of noncommutative spaces and also include a discussion on noncommutative motives. We propose a motivic measure with values in a motivic ring. This enables us to introduce certain zeta functions of noncommutative spaces.
C. Weibel and Thomason-Trobaugh proved (under some assumptions) that algebraic K-theory with coefficients is A1-homotopy invariant. In this article we generalize this result from schemes to the broad setting of dg categories. Along the way, we extend Bass-Quillen's fundamental theorem as well as Stienstra's foundational work on module structures over the big Witt ring to the setting of dg categories. Among other cases, the above A1-homotopy invariance result can now be applied to sheaves of (not necessarily commutative) dg algebras over stacks. As an application, we compute the algebraic K-the…
Reflexive functors of modules naturally appear in Algebraic Geometry. In this paper we define a wide and elementary family of reflexive functors of modules, closed by tensor products and homomorphisms, in which Algebraic Geometry can be developed.
Tannaka duality and its extensions by Lurie, Schäppi et al. reveal that many schemes as well as algebraic stacks may be identified with their tensor categories of quasi-coherent sheaves. In this thesis we study constructions of cocomplete tensor categories (resp. cocontinuous tensor functors) which usually correspond to constructions of schemes (resp. their morphisms) in the case of quasi-coherent sheaves. This means to globalize the usual local-global algebraic geometry. For this we first have to develop basic commutative algebra in an arbitrary cocomplete tensor category. We then discuss ten…
A criterion for a functor between derived categories of coherent sheaves to be full and faithful is given. A semiorthogonal decomposition for the derived category of coherent sheaves on the intersection of two even dimensional quadrics is obtained. The behaviour of derived categories with respect to birational transformations is investigated. A theorem about reconstruction of a variety from the derived category of coherent sheaves is proved.
In this paper we introduce elements of algebraic geometry over an arbitrary algebraic structure. We prove Unification Theorems which gather the description of coordinate algebras by several ways.
These notes attempt to give a short survey of the approach to support theory and the study of lattices of triangulated subcategories through the machinery of tensor triangular geometry. One main aim is to introduce the material necessary to state and prove the local-to-global principle. In particular, we discuss Balmer's construction of the spectrum, generalised Rickard idempotents and support for compactly generated triangulated categories, and actions of tensor triangulated categories. Several examples are also given along the way. These notes are based on a series of lectures given during t…
In this paper, for a given finitely generated algebra (an algebraic structure with arbitrary operations and no predicates) A we study finitely generated limit algebras of A, approaching them via model theory and algebraic geometry. Along the way we lay down foundations of algebraic geometry over arbitrary algebraic structures.
A generalization of incidence relations in abstract polytope has been explored, and parameterized surfaces are used as primers. The abstract orientable incidence structure is defined as an algebraic model of incidence relations, in which some algebraic properties in abtract polytope theory are generalized. The geometric interpretation of abstract orientable incidence structure are also discussed. The orientable incidence structure in a semi-regular normal CW complex are briefly investigated.
Some notions of algebraic geometry can be defined for arbitrary varieties of algebras. This leads to universal algebraic geometry. The main idea of the presented theory is to consider interactions between algebra, logic and geometry in algebras from a given variety of algebras.

We develop the idea of using an algebraic-geometry approach to classical differential geometry problems. Consider an orthogonal net constructed according to algebraic-geometric data we obtain a set of smooth orthogonal nets that are Ribaucour transformations of the initial orthogonal net.
