We construct a rigorous renormalisation scheme for analytic vector fields on the 2-torus of Poincare type. We show that iterating this procedure there is convergence to a limit set with a ``Gauss map'' dynamics on it, related to the continued fraction expansion of the slope of the frequencies. This is valid for diophantine frequency vectors.
We consider the quasi-periodic Schrödinger operator with the non-degenerate Gevrey potential for the Diophantine frequency. We prove that if the coupling number of the potential is large, then the spectrum is homogeneous.
For non-critical almost Mathieu operators with Diophantine frequency, we establish exponential asymptotics on the size of spectral gaps, and show that the spectrum is homogeneous. We also prove the homogeneity of the spectrum for Schödinger operators with (measure-theoretically) typical quasi-periodic analytic potentials and fixed strong Diophantine frequency. As applications, we show the discrete version of Deift's conjecture \cite{Deift, Deift17} for subcritical analytic quasi-periodic initial data and solve a series of open problems of Damanik-Goldstein et al \cite{BDGL, DGL1, dgsv, Go} and…
Pointwise modulus of continuity of the Lyapunov exponent and integrated density of states for analytic multi-frequency quasiperiodic $M(2, \mathbb{C})$ cocycles
We show that if the base frequency is Diophantine, then the Lyapunov exponent of a $C^{k}$ quasi-periodic $SL(2,\mathbb{R})$ cocycle is $1/2$-Hölder continuous in the almost reducible regime, if $k$ is large enough. As a consequence, we show that if the frequency is Diophantine, $k$ is large enough, and the potential is $C^k$ small, then the integrated density of states of the corresponding quasi-periodic Schrödinger operator is $1/2$-Hölder continuous.
Quasi-periodic cocycles with a diophantine frequency and with values in SL(2,R) are shown to be almost reducible as long as they are close enough to a constant, in the topology of k times differentiable functions, with k great enough. Almost reducibility is obtained by analytic approximation after a loss of differentiability which only depends on the frequency and on the constant part. As in the analytic case, if their fibered rotation number is diophantine or rational with respect to the frequency, such cocycles are in fact reducible. This extends Eliasson's theorem on Schrödinger cocycles to…
We prove that the quasi-periodic Schrödinger operator with a finitely differentiable potential has purely absolutely continuous spectrum for all phases if the frequency is Diophantine and the potential is sufficiently small in the corresponding $C^k$ topology. This is based on a refined quantitative $C^{k,k_0}$ almost reducibility theorem which only requires a quite low initial regularity ``$k>14τ+2$'' and much of the regularity ``$k_0\leq k-2τ-2$'' is conserved in the end, where $τ$ is the Diophantine constant of the frequency.

We study the behaviour of one-dimensional strongly dissipative systems subject to a quasi-periodic force. In particular we are interested in the existence of response solutions, that is quasi-periodic solutions having the same frequency vector as the forcing term. Earlier results available in the literature show that, when the dissipation is large enough and a suitable function involving the forcing has a simple zero, response solutions can be proved to exist and to be attractive provided some Diophantine condition is assumed on the frequency vector. In this paper we show that the results exte…
We consider the standard family of area-preserving twist maps of the annulus and the corresponding KAM curves. Addressing a question raised by Kolmogorov, we show that, instead of viewing these invariant curves as separate objects, each of which having its own Diophantine frequency, one can encode them in a single function of the frequency which is naturally defined in a complex domain containing the real Diophantine frequencies and which is monogenic in the sense of Borel; this implies a remarkable property of quasianalyticity, a form of uniqueness of the monogenic continuation, although real…
We study the problem of existence of response solutions for a real-analytic one-dimensional system, consisting of a rotator subjected to a small quasi-periodic forcing. We prove that at least one response solution always exists, without any assumption on the forcing besides smallness and analyticity. This strengthens the results available in the literature, where generic non-degeneracy conditions are assumed. The proof is based on a diagrammatic formalism and relies on renormalisation group techniques, which exploit the formal analogy with problems of quantum field theory; a crucial role is pl…
We show that an analytic invariant torus $\cT_0$ with Diophantine frequency $ø_0$ is never isolated due to the following alternative. If the Birkhoff normal form of the Hamiltonian at $\cT_0$ satisfies a Rüssmann transversality condition, the torus $\cT_0$ is accumulated by KAM tori of positive total measure. If the Birkhoff normal form is degenerate, there exists a subvariety of dimension at least $d+1$ that is foliated by analytic invariant tori with frequency $ø_0$. For frequency vectors $ø_0$ having a finite uniform Diophantine exponent (this includes a residual set of Liouville vectors), …
Gevrey 2 quasi-periodic cocycles with diophantine frequency, close to a constant, with values in classical Lie groups, are almost reducible in a weak sense. This is the analogue of Eliasson's almost reducibility theorem for analytic cocycles.
We prove that an analytic quasiperiodically forced circle flow with a not super-Liouvillean base frequency and which is close enough to some constant rotation is $C^{\infty}$ rotations reducible, provided its fibered rotation number is Diophantine with respect to the base frequency. As a corollary, we obtain that among such systems, the linearizable ones and those displaying mode-locking are locally dense for the $C^\infty$-topology.
In this paper, we study the persistence and remaining regularity of KAM invariant torus under sufficiently small perturbations of a Hamiltonian function together with its derivatives, in sense of finite smoothness with modulus of continuity, as a generalization of classical Hölder continuous circumstances. To achieve this goal, we extend the Jackson approximation theorem to the case of modulus of continuity, and establish a corresponding regularity theorem adapting to the new iterative scheme. Via these tools, we establish a KAM theorem with sharp differentiability hypotheses, which asserts th…
In the paper we consider the one-frequency cohomological equation \begin{equation*} (\partial_x + ω\partial_y) g(x,y) = a(x,y) \end{equation*} on the 2-torus with unknown $g$ and analytic initial data $a$. We identify all the frequencies $ω$ for which the equation has an analytic solution and express the analytic solvability condition in terms of two Brjuno-like functions, providing explicit estimates on the sup-norm of $g$. As an example we estimate the Brjuno-like functions for Diophantine and Khintchine-Lévy numbers. We also construct an example of an arbitrarily small function $a$ for whic…
We study the ordinary differential equation ${\varepsilon}\ddot x+\dot x + {\varepsilon} g(x) = {\varepsilon} f(ωt)$, with $f$ and $g$ analytic and $f$ quasi-periodic in $t$ with frequency vector $ω\in R^{d}$. We show that if there exists $c_0\in R$ such that $g(c_0)$ equals the average of $f$ and the first non-zero derivative of $g$ at $c_0$ is of odd order $n$, then, for ${\varepsilon}$ small enough and under very mild Diophantine conditions on $ω$, there exists a quasi-periodic solution close to $c_0$, with the same frequency vector as $f$. In particular if $f$ is a trigonometric polynomial…
We prove that there is an invariant torus with given Diophantine frequency vector for a class of Hamiltonian systems defined by an integrable large Hamiltonian function with a large non-autonomous Hamiltonian perturbation. As for application, we prove that a finite network of Duffing oscillators with periodic exterior forces possesses Lagrangian stability for almost all initial data.
In the present paper, we consider the following reversible system \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} \dot{x}=ω_0+f(x,y),\\ \dot{y}=g(x,y), \end{cases} \end{equation*} where $x\in\mathbf{T}^{d}$, $y\backsim0\in \mathbf{R}^{d}$, $ω_0$ is Diophantine, $f(x,y)=O(y)$, $g(x,y)=O(y^2)$ and $f$, $g$ are reversible with respect to the involution G: $(x,y)\mapsto(-x,y)$, that is, $f(-x,y)=f(x,y)$, $g(-x,y)=-g(x,y)$. We study the accumulation of an analytic invariant torus $Γ_0$ of the reversible system with Diophantine frequency $ω_0$ by other invariant tori. We will prove that if the Birkhoff normal form …
We develop a new KAM scheme that applies to SL(2,R) cocycles with one frequency, irrespective of any Diophantine condition on the base dynamics. It gives a generalization of Dinaburg-Sinai's Theorem to arbitrary frequencies: under a closeness to constant assumption, the non-Abelian part of the classical reducibility problem can always be solved for a positive measure set of parameters.
We consider the dynamics in a neighborhood of an elliptic equilibrium point with a Diophantine frequency of a symplectic real analytic vector field and we prove the following result of effective stability. Generically, both in a topological and measure-theoretical sense, any solution starting sufficiently close to the equilibrium point remains close to it for an interval of time which is doubly exponentially large with respect to the inverse of the distance to the equilibrium point. We actually prove a more general statement assuming the frequency is only non-resonant. This improves previous r…
We show that for a class of $C^2$ quasiperiodic potentials and for any Diophantine frequency, the spectrum of the corresponding Schrödinger operators is Cantor. Our approach is of purely dynamical systems, which depends on a detailed analysis of asymptotic stable and unstable directions. We also apply it to general $\mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb R)$ cocycles, and obtain that uniform hyperbolic systems form a open and dense set in some one-parameter family.
