On infinitesimal deformations of cmc surfaces of finite type in the 3-sphere

We describe infinitesimal deformations of constant mean curvature surfaces of finite type in the 3-sphere. We use Baker-Akhiezer functions to describe such deformations, as well as polynomial Killing fields and the corresponding spectral curve to distinguish between isospectral and non-isospectral deformations.

Continuous families of isospectral metrics on simply connected manifolds

We construct continuous families of Riemannian metrics on certain simply connected manifolds with the property that the resulting Riemannian manifolds are pairwise isospectral for the Laplace operator acting on functions. These are the first examples of simply connected Riemannian manifolds without boundary which are isospectral, but not isometric. Isospectral deformations of closed Riemannian manifolds with different scalar curvature

We construct the first examples of continuous families of isospectral Riemannian metrics that are not locally isometric on closed manifolds, more precisely, on $S^n\times T^m$, where $T^m$ is a torus of dimension $m\ge 2$ and $S^n$ is a sphere of dimension $n\ge 4$. These metrics are not locally homogeneous; in particular, the scalar curvature of each metric is nonconstant. For some of the deformations, the maximum scalar curvature changes during the deformation.

Compactness of isospectral conformal metrics on 4-manifolds

Let a sequence of conformal Riemannian metrics $\{g_k=u_k^2g_0\}$ be isospectral to $g_0$ over a compact boundaryless smooth 4-dimension manifold $(M,g_0)$. We prove that the subsequence of conformal factors $\{u_k\}$ converges to $u$ weakly in $W^{2,p}_{loc}(M\setminus \mathcal{S})$ for some $p<2$, where $\mathcal{S}$ is a finite set of points and $u\in W^{2,p}(M,g_0)$. Spectrum of generalized Hodge-Laplace operators on flat tori and round spheres

We consider generalized Hodge-Laplace operators $αd δ+ βδd$ for $α, β> 0$ on $p$-forms on compact Riemannian manifolds. In the case of flat tori and round spheres of different radii, we explicitly calculate the spectrum of these operators. Furthermore, we investigate under which circumstances they are isospectral.

On the Dirac spectrum of homogeneous 3-spheres

We show that any two left-invariant metrics on $S^3\cong\operatorname{SU}(2)$ which are isospectral for the associated classical Dirac operator $D$ must be isometric. In the case of left-invariant metrics of positive scalar curvature, we compute and use the smallest eigenvalue of $D^2$. We show analogous results for left-invariant metrics on $\operatorname{SO}(3)=S^3/\{\pm1\}$ for each of its two spin structures.

The Weil-Petersson geometry of the five-times punctured sphere

We give a new proof that the completion of the Weil-Petersson metric on Teichmüller space is Gromov-hyperbolic if the surface is a five-times punctured sphere or a twice-punctured torus. Our methods make use of the synthetic geometry of the Weil-Petersson metric.

Spectral properties of a family of minimal tori of revolution in five-dimensional sphere

The normalized eigenvalues $Λ_i(M,g)$ of the Laplace-Beltrami operator can be considered as functionals on the space of all Riemannian metrics $g$ on a fixed surface $M$. In recent papers several explicit examples of extremal metrics were provided. These metrics are induced by minimal immersions of surfaces in $\mathbb{S}^3$ or $\mathbb{S}^4$. In the present paper a family of extremal metrics induced by minimal immersions in $\mathbb{S}^5$ is provided.

Minimal tori in five-dimensional sphere in $C^3$

Special class of surfaces in five-dimensional sphere in $C^3$ is considered. Immersion equations for minimal tori of that class are shown to be reducible to the equation $u_{z\bar z}=e^u-e^{-2u}$ which is integrable by means of inverse scattering method. Finite-gap minimal tori are constructed.

Fivebranes and resolved deformed G_2 manifolds

We study supergravity solutions corresponding to fivebranes wrapped on a three-sphere inside a G_2 holonomy manifold. By changing a parameter the solutions interpolate between a G_2 manifold X_i \cong S^3 x R^4 with flux on a three-sphere and a distinct G_2 manifold X_j \cong S^3 x R^4 with branes on another three-sphere. Therefore, these realise a G_2 geometric transition purely in the supergravity context. We can add D2 brane charge by applying a simple transformation to the initial solution and we obtain one-parameter deformations of warped G_2 holonomy backgrounds. These solutions suggest …
