We generalize the "motivated proof" of the Rogers-Ramanujan identities given by Andrews and Baxter to provide an analogous "motivated proof" of Gordon's generalization of the Rogers-Ramanujan identities. Our main purpose is to provide insight into certain vertex-algebraic structure being developed.
Using the theory of intertwining operators for vertex operator algebras we show that the graded dimensions of the principal subspaces associated to the standard modules for $\hat{\goth{sl}(2)}$ satisfy certain classical recursion formulas of Rogers and Selberg. These recursions were exploited by Andrews in connection with Gordon's generalization of the Rogers--Ramanujan identities and with Andrews' related identities. The present work generalizes the authors' previous work on intertwining operators and the Rogers--Ramanujan recursion.
We study the family of Y-systems and T-systems associated with the sine-Gordon models and the reduced sine-Gordon models for the parameter of continued fractions with two terms. We formulate these systems by cluster algebras, which turn out to be of finite type, and prove their periodicities and the associated dilogarithm identities which have been conjectured earlier. In particular, this provides new examples of periodicities of seeds.
A few years ago Foda, Quano, Kirillov and Warnaar proposed and proved various finite analogs of the celebrated Andrews-Gordon identities. We prove polynomial boson-fermion identities for the generating function of the number of partitions of $n$ of the form $n=\sum_{j=1}^{L-1} j f_j$, with $f_1\leq i-1$, $f_{L-1} \leq i'-1$ and $f_j+f_{j+1}\leq k$. The bosonic side of the identities involves $q$-deformations of the coefficients of $x^a$ in the expansion of $(1+x+\cdots+ x^k)^L$. We prove a q-series identity that generalises Macdonald's A_{2n}^{(2)} eta-function identity and the Rogers-Ramanujan identities. We conjecture our result to generalise even further to also include the Andrews-Gordon identities.

The sine-Gordon Y-systems and the reduced sine-Gordon Y-systems were introduced by Tateo in the 90's in the study of the integrable deformation of conformal field theory by the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz method. The periodicity property and the dilogarithm identities concerning these Y-systems were conjectured by Tateo, and only a part of them have been proved so far. We prove several infinite families of $q$-series identities for false theta functions and related series. These identities are motivated by considerations of characters of modules of vertex operator superalgebras and of quantum dilogarithms. We also obtain closely related modular identities of the Göllnitz-Gordon-Andrews type. As a byproduct of our identities, we establish several identities for the Rogers dilogarithm function coming from multi $q$-hypergeometric series with "double poles".
