An Index of an Equivariant Vector Field and Addition Theorems for Pontrjagin Characteristic Classes

The theory of indices of Morse--Bott vector fields on a manifold is constructed and the famous localization problem for the transfer map is solved on its base in the present paper. As a consequence, we obtained addition theorems for the universal Pontrjagin characteristic classes in cobordisms. These results gave us a possibility to complete the construction, which was begun more than twenty years ago, of the universal characteristic classes' theory.

Cobordisms of global quotient orbifolds and an equivariant Pontrjagin-Thom construction

We introduce an equivariant Pontrjagin-Thom construction which identifies equivariant cohomotopy classes with certain fixed point bordism classes. This provides a concrete geometric model for equivariant cohomotopy which works for any compact Lie group G. In the special case when G is finite or a torus, we show that our construction recovers the construction of Wasserman, providing a new perspective on equivariant bordism. Geometric versus homotopy theoretic equivariant bordism

By results of Loeffler and Comezana, the Pontrjagin-Thom map from geometric G-equivariant bordism to homotopy theoretic equivariant bordism is injective for compact abelian G. If G = S^1 x ... x S^1, we prove that the associated fixed point square is a pull back square, thus confirming a recent conjecture of D. Sinha. This is used in order to determine the image of the Pontrjagin-Thom map for toral G.

Hamiltonian S^1-spaces with large equivariant pseudo-index

Let $(M,ω)$ be a compact symplectic manifold of dimension $2n$ endowed with a Hamiltonian circle action with only isolated fixed points. Fixed point Free Actions of Spheres and Equivariant maps

This paper generalizes the concept of index and co-index and some related results for free actions of G = S0 on a paracompact Hausdorff space which were introduced by Conner and Floyd. We define the index and co-index of a finitistic free G-space X, where G = Sd , d = 1 or 3 and prove that the index of X is not more than the mod 2 cohomology index of X. Equivariant Lefschetz and Fuller indices via topological intersection theory

For a compact Lie group G, we use G-equivariant Poincaré duality for ordinary RO(G)-graded homology to define an equivariant intersection product, the dual of the equivariant cup product. Using this, we give a homological construction of the equivariant Lefschetz number and a simple proof of the equivariant Lefschetz fixed point theorem. With similar techniques, an equivariant Fuller index with values in the rationalized Burnside ring is constructed.

Rigidity in Equivariant Stable Homotopy Theory

For any finite group G, we show that the 2-local G-equivariant stable homotopy category, indexed on a complete G-universe, has a unique equivariant model in the sense of Quillen model categories. This means that the suspension functor, homotopy cofiber sequences and the stable Burnside category determine all "higher order structure" of the 2-local G-equivariant stable homotopy category, such as the equivariant homotopy types of function G-spaces. The theorem can be seen as an equivariant version of Schwede's rigidity theorem at the prime 2.

Equivariant Topology of Configuration Spaces

We study the Fadell-Husseini index of the configuration space F(R^d,n) with respect to different subgroups of the symmetric group S_n. For p prime and d>0, we completely determine Index_{Z/p}(F(R^d,p);F_p) and partially describe Index{(Z/p)^k}(F(R^d,p^k);F_p). Equivariant Verlinde algebra from superconformal index and Argyres-Seiberg duality

In this paper, we show the equivalence between two seemingly distinct 2d TQFTs: one comes from the "Coulomb branch index" of the class S theory $T[Σ,G]$ on $L(k,1) \times S^1$, the other is the $^LG$ "equivariant Verlinde formula", or equivalently partition function of $^LG_{\mathbb{C}}$ complex Chern-Simons theory on $Σ\times S^1$. The Analytical Assembly Map and Index Theory

In this paper we study the index theoretic interpretation of the analytical assembly map that appears in the Baum-Connes conjecture. In its general form it may be constructed using Kasparov's equivariant KK-theory. In the special case of a torsionfree group the domain simplifies to the usual K-homology of the classifying space BG of G and it is frequently used that in this case the analytical assembly map is given by assigning to an operator an equivariant index. We give a precise formulation of this statement and prove it.
