On infinite tensor products of projective unitary representations

We initiate a study of infinite tensor products of projective unitary representations of a discrete group G. Special attention is given to regular representations twisted by 2-cocycles and to projective representations associated with CCR-representations of bilinear maps. Detailed computations are presented in the case where G is a finitely generated free abelian group. We also discuss an extension problem about product type actions of G, where the projective representation theory of G plays a central role.

Bounded normal generation for projective unitary groups of certain infinite operator algebras

We study the question how quickly products of a fixed conjugacy class cover the entire group in the projective unitary group of the connected component of the identity of the Calkin algebra, as well as the projective unitary group of a factor von Neumann algebra of type III. Our result is that the number of factors that are needed is as small as permitted by the (essential) operator norm - in analogy to a result of Liebeck-Shalev for non-abelian finite simple groups and analogous results for unitary groups of II_1-factors.

The density theorem for projective representations via twisted group von Neumann algebras

We consider converses to the density theorem for irreducible, projective, unitary group representations restricted to lattices using the dimension theory of Hilbert modules over twisted group von Neumann algebras. We show that under the right assumptions, the restriction of a $σ$-projective unitary representation $π$ of a group $G$ to a lattice $Γ$ extends to a Hilbert module over the twisted group von Neumann algebra $\text{L}(Γ,σ)$. We study the question how quickly products of a fixed conjugacy class in the projective unitary group of a II${}_1$-factor von Neumann algebra cover the entire group. Our result is that the number of factors that are needed is essentially as small as permitted by the $1$-norm - in analogy to a result of Liebeck-Shalev for non-abelian finite simple groups. Closed Unitary and Similarity Orbits of Normal Operators in Purely Infinite C*-Algebras

We will investigate the norm closure of the unitary and similarity orbits of normal operators in unital, simple, purely infinite C*-algebras. On Analytic Vectors for Unitary Representations of Infinite Dimensional Lie Groups

Let $G$ be a 1-connected Banach-Lie group or, more generally, a BCH--Lie group. Symmetry and quasi-centrality of operator space projective tensor product

For $C^{*}$-algebras $A$ and $B$, the operator space projective tensor product $A\hat{\otimes}B$ and the Banach space projective tensor product $A\otimes_γB$ are shown to be symmetric. Geometry of infinite dimensional unitary groups: convexity and fixed points

In this article we study convexity properties of distance functions in infinite dimensional Finsler unitary groups, such as the full unitary group, the unitary Schatten perturbations of the identity and unitary groups of finite von Neumann algebras.
