We find sets of solutions to the generalized spheroidal wave equation (GSWE) or, equivalently, to the confluent Heun equation. Each set is constituted by three solutions, one given by a series of ascending powers of the independent variable, and the others by series of regular and irregular confluent hypergeometric functions. For a fixed set, the solutions converge over different regions of the complex plane but present series coefficients proportional to each other. These solutions for the GSWE afford solutions to a double-confluent Heun equation by a taking-limit process due to Leaver. Another procedure, called Whittaker-Ince limit, provides solutions in series of powers and Bessel functions for two other equations with a different type of singularity at infinity. In addition, new solutions are obtained for the Whittaker-Hill and Mathieu equations by considering these as special cases of both the confluent and double-confluent Heun equations. In particular, we find that each of the Lindmann-Stieltjes solutions for the Mathieu equation is associated with two expansions in series of Bessel functions. We also discuss a set of solutions in series of hypergeometric and confluent hypergeometric functions for the GSWE and use their Leaver limits to obtain infinite-series solutions for the Schrödinger equation with an asymmetric double-Morse potential. Finally, the possibility of extending the solutions of the GSWE to the general Heun equation is briefly discussed.
In the present paper, by extending some fractional calculus to the framework of Cliffors analysis, new classes of wavelet functions are presented. Firstly, some classes of monogenic polynomials are provided based on 2-parameters weight functions which extend the classical Jacobi ones in the context of Clifford analysis. The discovered polynomial sets are next applied to introduce new wavelet functions. Reconstruction formula as well as Fourier-Plancherel rules have been proved. The main tool reposes on the extension of fractional derivatives, fractional integrals and fractional Fourier transfo…
Time and band limiting operators are expressed as functions of the confluent Heun operator arising in the spheroidal wave equation. Explicit formulas are obtained when the bandwidth parameter is either small or large and results on the complete Fourier transform are recovered.
We find pairs of solutions to a differential equation which is obtained as a special limit of a generalized spheroidal wave equation (this is also known as confluent Heun equation). One solution in each pair is given by a series of hypergeometric functions and converges for any finite value of the independent variable $z$, while the other is given by a series of modified Bessel functions and converges for $|z|>|z_{0}|$, where $z_{0}$ denotes a regular singularity. For short, the preceding limit is called Ince's limit after Ince who have used the same procedure to get the Mathieu equations from…
In this paper we compute the square root of the generalized squared total angular momentum operator $J$ for a Dirac particle in the Kerr-Newman metric. The separation constant $λ$ arising from the Chandrasekahr separation ansatz turns out to be the eigenvalue of $J$. After proving that $J$ is a symmetry operator, we show the completeness of Chandrasekhar Ansatz for the Dirac equation in oblate spheroidal coordinates and derive an explicit formula for the propagator $e^{-itH}$.
We provide a limiting absorption principle for the self-adjoint realizations of Laplace operators corresponding to boundary conditions on (relatively open parts $Σ$ of) compact hypersurfaces $Γ=\partialΩ$, $Ω\subset{\mathbb{R}}^{n}$. For any of such self-adjoint operators we also provide the generalized eigenfunctions and the scattering matrix; both these objects are written in terms of operator-valued Weyl functions. We make use of a Krein-type formula which provides the resolvent difference between the operator corresponding to self-adjoint boundary conditions on the hypersurface and the fre…
In the present paper the low density limit of the non-chronological multitime correlation functions of boson number type operators is investigated. We prove that the limiting truncated non-chronological correlation can be computed using only a sub-class of diagrams associated to non-crossing pair partitions and thus coincide with the non-truncated correlation functions of suitable free number operators. The independent in the limit subalgebras are found and the limiting statistics is investigated. In particular, it is found that the cumulants of certain elements coincide in the limit with the …
The essentials of fractional calculus according to different approaches that can be useful for our applications in the theory of probability and stochastic processes are established. In addition to this, from this fractional integral one can list out almost all the extended densities for the pathway parameter $q < 1$ and $q \rightarrow 1$. Here we bring out the idea of thicker or thinner tailed models associated with a gamma type distribution as a limiting case of pathway operator. Applications of this extended gamma model in Statistical Mechanics, input-output models, and solar spectral irrad…
We present a new exactly solvable quantum problem for which the Schroedinger equation allows for separation of variables in oblate spheroidal coordinates. Namely, this is the quantum mechanical two Coulomb centers problem for the case of imaginary intercenter parameter and complex conjugate charges is considered. Since the potential is defined by the two-sheeted mapping whose singularities are concentrated on a circle rather than at separate points, there arise additional possibilities in choice of boundary conditions. Detailed classification of the various types of boundary-value problems is …
We propose an alternative factorization for the simple harmonic oscillator hamiltonian which includes Mielnik's isospectral factorization as a particular case. This factorization is realized in two non-mutually adjoint operators whose inverse product, in the simplest case, lead to a new Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue equation which includes Schrodinger's equation for the oscillator and Hermite's equation as particular cases for limiting values of the factorization's parameter, and whose eigenfunctions allow us to define new generalized Hermite functions.
It is shown that the Confluent Heun Equation (CHEq) reduces for certain conditions of the parameters to a particular class of Quasi-Exactly Solvable models, associated with the Lie algebra $sl (2,{\mathbb R})$. As a consequence it is possible to find a set of polynomial solutions of this quasi-exactly solvable version of the CHEq. These finite solutions encompass previously known polynomial solutions of the Generalized Spheroidal Equation, Razavy Eq., Whittaker-Hill Eq., etc. The analysis is applied to obtain and describe special eigen-functions of the quantum Hamiltonian of two fixed Coulombi…
The double-layer potential plays an important r$\hat{\rm o}$le in solving boundary value problems of elliptic equations. Here, in this paper, we aim at introducing and investigating double layer potentials for a generalized bi-axially symmetric Helmholtz equation. By using some properties of one of Appell's hypergeometric functions in two variables, we prove limiting theorems and derive integral equations concerning a denseness of double-layer potentials.

In this comment, we show that the solutions of the-wave Dirac equation for deformed generalized Pöschl-Teller potential obtained by Wei et al are valid only for $q\geq1$ and $\frac{1}{2α}\ln{q}<r<\infty$. When $0<q<1$, we prove that the energy eigenvalues for the bound states are given by the solution of a transcendental equation involving the hypergeometric function. To test our results, the Morse potential is considered as limiting case.
We consider the semi-classical limit of nonlinear Schrodinger equations in the presence of both a polynomial nonlinearity and thederivative in space of a polynomial nonlinearity. By working in a class of analytic initial data, we do not have to assume any hyperbolicstructure on the (limiting) phase/amplitude system. The solution, its approximation, and the error estimates are considered in time dependent analyticregularity.
In this article, we undertake a detailed study of the limiting behavior of a three-state discrete-time quantum walk on one dimensional lattice with generalized Grover coins. Two limit theorems are proved and consequently we show that the quantum walk exhibits localization at its initial position, for a wide range of coin parameters. Finally, we discuss the effect of the coin parameters on the peak velocities of probability distributions of the underlying quantum walks.
We present new solutions in terms of elementary functions of the multi-component nonlinear Schrödinger equations and known solutions of the Davey-Stewartson equations such as multi-soliton, breather, dromion and lump solutions. These solutions are given in a simple determinantal form and are obtained as limiting cases in suitable degenerations of previously derived algebro-geometric solutions. In particular we present for the first time breather and rational breather solutions of the multi-component nonlinear Schrödinger equations.
In this paper, we study the diffusive limit of solutions to the generalized Langevin equation (GLE) in a periodic potential. Under the assumption of quasi-Markovianity, we obtain sharp longtime equilibration estimates for the GLE using techniques from the theory of hypocoercivity. We then prove asymptotic results for the effective diffusion coefficient in three limiting regimes: the short memory, the overdamped and the underdamped limits. Finally, we employ a recently developed spectral numerical method in order to calculate the effective diffusion coefficient for a wide range of (effective) f…
Based on the concept of manifold valued generalized functions we initiate a study of nonlinear ordinary differential equations with singular (in particular: distributional) right hand sides in a global setting. After establishing several existence and uniqueness results for solutions of such equations and flows of singular vector fields we compare the solution concept employed here with the purely distributional setting. Finally, we derive criteria securing that a sequence of smooth flows corresponding to a regularization of a given singular vector field converges to a measurable limiting flow…
This paper is concerned with the time-dependent Maxwell's equations for a plane interface between a negative material described by the Drude model and the vacuum, which fill, respectively, two complementary half-spaces. In a first paper, we have constructed a generalized Fourier transform which diagonalizes the Hamiltonian that represents the propagation of transverse electric waves. In this second paper, we use this transform to prove the limiting absorption and limiting amplitude principles, which concern, respectively, the behavior of the resolvent near the continuous spectrum and the long …
Motivated by the Lee--Yang approach to phase transitions, we study the partition function of the Generalized Random Energy Model (GREM) at complex inverse temperature $β$. We compute the limiting log-partition function and describe the fluctuations of the partition function. For the GREM with $d$ levels, in total, there are $\frac 12 (d+1)(d+2)$ phases, each of which can symbolically be encoded as $G^{d_1}F^{d_2}E^{d_3}$ with $d_1,d_2,d_3\in\mathbb{N}_0$ such that $d_1+d_2+d_3=d$. In phase $G^{d_1}F^{d_2}E^{d_3}$, the first $d_1$ levels (counting from the root of the GREM tree) are in the glas…
