Quantum electrodynamics on the 3-torus. II-The RG flow

We continue the study of quantum electrodynamics on a three dimensional torus as a limit of a lattice gauge theory. In this paper we give a preliminary treatment of the renormalization group flow. We study the propagators which arise under multiple block spin averaging, both in global and local versions. We also study low order perturbation theory. However we do not control remainders. This is left to the more complete treatment of the following paper.

Quantum electrodynamics on the 3-torus -I

We study the ultraviolet problem for quantum electrodynamics on a three dimensional torus. We start with the lattice gauge theory on a toroidal lattice and seek to control the singularities as the lattice spacing is taken to zero. This is done by following the flow of a sequence of renormalization group transformations. The analysis is facilitated by splitting the space of gauge fields into large and small fields at each step following Balaban. In this paper we explore the first step in detail.

Stability of relativistic quantum electrodynamics in the Coulomb gauge

We show that relativistic quantum electrodynamics in the Coulomb gauge satisfies the following bound, which establishes stability: let $H(Λ,V)$ denote the Hamiltonian of $QED_{1+3}$ on the three-dimensional torus of volume $V$ and with ultraviolet cutoff $Λ$. Then there exists a constant $0<μ(Λ,V)<\infty$ (the vacuum energy renormalization) such that the renormalized Hamiltonian is positive: $H_{ren}(Λ,V) \equiv H_{Λ,V}+μ_{Λ, V}\cdot \mathbb{1} \ge 0 $.

On analyticity of incompressible viscid fluid flow in n-dimensional torus

We prove that the evolutionary Navier-Stokes equation in n-D torus with initial data in the class of distributions has an unique solution (local in t) that is analytic by all variables. This solution presents as a series globally.

Spectral flow for Dirac operators with magnetic links

This paper is devoted to the study of the spectral properties of Dirac operators on the three-sphere with singular magnetic fields supported on smooth, oriented links. As for Aharonov-Bohm solenoids in Euclidean three-space, the flux carried by an oriented knot features a $2π$-periodicity of the associated operator. For a given link one thus obtains a family of Dirac operators indexed by a torus of fluxes. We study the spectral flow of paths of such operators corresponding to loops in this torus. Renormalisation of flows on the multidimensional torus close to a KT frequency vector

We use a renormalisation operator R acting on a space of vector fields on the d-torus, d>1, to prove the existence of a submanifold of vector fields equivalent to constant. The result comes from the existence of a fixed point w of R which is hyperbolic. This is done for a certain class KT of constant vector fields w, called of Koch type. The transformation R is constructed using a time rescaling, a linear change of basis plus a periodic non-linear map isotopic to the identity, which we derive by a ``homotopy trick''.

Quantum Torus symmetries of the CKP and multi-component CKP hierarchies

In this paper, we construct a series of additional flows of the CKP hierarchy and the multi-component CKP hierarchy and these flows constitute a N-folds direct product of the positive half of the quantum Torus symmetry. Comparing to the $W_{\infty}$ infinite dimensional Lie symmetry, this quantum Torus symmetry has a nice algebraic structure with double indices.

The adiabatic limit of wave map flow on a two torus

The two-sphere valued wave map flow on a Lorentzian domain R x Sigma, where Sigma is any flat two-torus, is studied. The Cauchy problem with initial data tangent to the moduli space of holomorphic maps Sigma -> S^2 is considered, in the limit of small initial velocity. It is proved that wave maps, in this limit, converge in a precise sense to geodesics in the moduli space of holomorphic maps, with respect to the L^2 metric. This establishes, in a rigorous setting, a long-standing informal conjecture of Ward.

Dispersionless and multicomponent BKP hierarchies with quantum torus symmetries

In this article, we will construct the additional perturbative quantum torus symmetry of the dispersionless BKP hierarchy basing on the $W_{\infty}$ infinite dimensional Lie symmetry. These results show that the complete quantum torus symmetry is broken from the BKP hierarchy to its dispersionless hierarchy. Further a series of additional flows of the multicomponent BKP hierarchy will be defined and these flows constitute an $N$-folds direct product of the positive half of the quantum torus symmetries.
