In this paper we generalize the Rubakov-Spiridonov parasupersymmetry algebra to the order 3 case. We also generalize the notion of the Witten index, and we provide a class of models satisfying our parasupersymmetry algebra. Finally, we show that there is a correspondence between the Hamiltonian and the index in our class of models.
A quantum mechanical model that realizes the $ \mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2$-graded generalization of the one-dimensional supertranslation algebra is proposed. This model shares some features with the well-known Witten model and is related to parasupersymmetric quantum mechanics, though the model is not directly equivalent to either of these. The purpose of this paper is to show that novel "higher gradings" are possible in the context of non-relativistic quantum mechanics.
We show that the supersymmetric algebra of Witten's quantum mechanics is invariant under a given point canonical transformation. It is shown that Witten's supersymmetric quantum mechanics can be isospectral or not to the seed Hamiltonian depending on the space coordinate you work on. We illustrate our results by generating a new class of exactly solvable supersymmetric partner Hamiltonians which are not isospectral to the seed Hamiltonian.
Chirally symmetric discrete-time quantum walks possess supersymmetry, and their Witten indices can be naturally defined. The Witten index gives a lower bound for the number of topologically protected bound states. The purpose of this paper is to give a complete classification of the Witten index associated with a one-dimensional split-step quantum walk. It turns out that the Witten index of this model exhibits striking similarity to the one associated with a Dirac particle in supersymmetric quantum mechanics.
The objective of this note is to provide an interpretation of the discrete version of Morse inequalities, following Witten's approach via supersymmetric quantum mechanics, adapted to finite graphs, as a particular instance of Morse-Witten theory for cell complexes. We describe the general framework of graph quantum mechanics and we produce discrete versions of the Hodge theorems and energy cut-offs within this formulation.
We propose a generalization of the Witten-Dijkgraaf-Verlinde-Verlinde (WDVV) equation from ${\mathbb R}^n$ to an arbitrary Riemannian manifold. Its form is obtained by extending the relation of the WDVV equation with ${\cal N}{=}\,4$ supersymmetric $n$-dimensional mechanics from flat to curved space. The resulting `curved WDVV equation' is written in terms of a third-rank Codazzi tensor. For every flat-space WDVV solution subject to a simple constraint we provide a curved-space solution on any isotropic space, in terms of the rotationally invariant conformal factor of the metric.
A study is made of an integral identity of Helffer and Sj{ö}strand, which for some class of probability measures yields a formula for the covariance of two functions (of a stochastic variable). In comparison with the Brascamp--Lieb inequality, this formula is a more flexible and in some contexts stronger means for the analysis of correlation asymptotics in statistical mechanics. Using a fine version of the Closed Range Theorem, the identity's validity is shown to be equivalent to some explicitly given spectral properties of Witten-Laplacians on Euclidean space, and the formula is moreover dedu…
We construct a family of infinite-dimensional positive sub-coalgebras within the Grothendieck ring of Hecke algebras, when viewed as a Hopf algebra with respect to the induction and restriction functor. These sub-coalgebras have as structure constants the 3-point genus zero Gromov-Witten invariants of Grassmannians and are spanned by what we call cylindric Hecke characters, a particular set of virtual characters for whose computation we give several explicit combinatorial formulae. One of these expressions is a generalisation of Ram's formula for irreducible Hecke characters and uses cylindric…
We explore the non-singlet sector of matrix quantum mechanics dual to $c=1$ Liouville theory. The non-singlets are obtained by adding $N_{f}\times N$ bi-fundamental fields in the gauged matrix quantum mechanics model as well as a one dimensional Chern-Simons term. The present model is associated with a spin-Calogero model in the presence of external magnetic field. In chiral variables, the low energy excitations-currents satisfy an ${SU(2N_{f})}_{\tilde{k}}$ Kǎc-Moody algebra at large $N$. We analyse the canonical partition function as well as two and four point correlation functions, discuss …
Growth of Young diagrams, equipped with Plancherel measure, follows the automodel equation of Kerov. Using the technology of unitary matrix model we show that such growth process is exactly same as the growth of gap-less phase in Gross-Witten and Wadia (GWW) model. The limit shape of asymptotic Young diagrams corresponds to GWW transition point. Our analysis also offers an alternate proof of limit shape theorem of Vershik-Kerov and Logan-Shepp. Using the connection between unitary matrix model and free Fermi droplet description, we map the Young diagrams in automodel class to different shapes …
This paper fires the opening salvo in the systematic construction of the lattice-continuum correspondence, a precise dictionary that describes the emergence of continuum quantum theories from finite, nonperturbatively defined models ("lattice theories"). Here the focus will be on quantum field theory in (0+1)D, i.e. quantum mechanics. The main conceptual achievement is an explicit and systematic procedure for reducing a theory with a large but finite Hilbert space to a subtheory in which wavefunctions satisfy prescribed smoothness and compactness constraints. This reduction, here named taming,…
The conventional Hamiltonian $H= p^2+ V_N(x)$, where the potential $V_N(x)$ is a polynomial of degree $N$, has been studied intensively since the birth of quantum mechanics. In some cases, its spectrum can be determined by combining the WKB method with resummation techniques. In this paper we point out that the deformed Hamiltonian $H=2 \cosh(p)+ V_N(x)$ is exactly solvable for any potential: a conjectural exact quantization condition, involving well-defined functions, can be written down in closed form, and determines the spectrum of bound states and resonances. In particular, no resummation …
In this work, we first solve complex Morse flow equations for the simplest case of a bosonic harmonic oscillator to discuss localization in the context of Picard-Lefschetz theory. We briefly touch on the exact non-BPS solutions of the bosonized supersymmetric quantum mechanics on algebraic geometric grounds and report that their complex phases can be accessed through the cohomology of WKB 1-form of the underlying singular spectral curve subject to necessary cohomological corrections for non-zero genus. Motivated by Picard-Lefschetz theory, we write down a general formula for the index of $\mat…
