This paper concerns a conformally invariant elliptic problem on $\mathbb R^n$ driven by $(-Δ)^{n/2}$ that has a nonlocal exponential nonlinearity of Choquard type. The problem under consideration is a nonlocal generalization of the constant $Q$-curvature problem on $\mathbb R^n$. We classify the asymptotic behavior at infinity of all solutions that satisfy a suitable integrability assumption. Under a growth restriction at infinity and a lower bound on the energy we provide an explicit classification for solutions. The classification is heuristically consistent with the classification of the corresponding local problem.
In this paper, without any assumption on $v$ and under extremely mild assumption $u(x)=O(|x|^{K})$ at $\infty$ for some $K\gg1$ arbitrarily large, we prove classification of solutions to the following conformally invariant system with mixed order and exponentially increasing nonlinearity in $\mathbb{R}^{2}$: \begin{equation*}\\\begin{cases} (-Δ)^{\frac{1}{2}}u(x)=e^{pv(x)}, \qquad x\in\mathbb{R}^{2}, \\ -Δv(x)=u^{4}(x), \qquad x\in\mathbb{R}^{2}, \end{cases}\end{equation*} where $p\in(0,+\infty)$, $u\geq 0$ and satisfies the finite total curvature condition $\int_{\mathbb{R}^{2}}u^{4}(x)\mathr…
We consider the initial value problem for the semilinear plate equation with nonlocal nonlinearity. We prove the existence of global attractor and then establish the regularity and finite dimensionality of this attractor.
We consider Cauchy problem for the semilinear plate equation with nonlocal nonlinearity. Under mild conditions on the damping coefficient, we prove that the semigroup generated by this problem possesses a global attractor.
We investigate existence and uniqueness of solutions for a class of nonlinear nonlocal problems involving the fractional $p$-Laplacian operator and singular nonlinearities.
By means of variational methods we establish existence and multiplicity of solutions for a class of nonlinear nonlocal problems involving the fractional p-Laplacian and a combined Sobolev and Hardy nonlinearity at subcritical and critical growth.
We consider a space-inhomogeneous Kolmogorov-Petrovskii-Piskunov (KPP) equation with a nonlocal diffusion and an almost-periodic nonlinearity. By employing and adapting the theory of homogenization, we show that solutions of this equation asymptotically converge to its stationary states in regions of space separated by a front that is determined by a Hamilton-Jacobi variational inequality.
We consider a space-inhomogeneous Kolmogorov-Petrovskii-Piskunov (KPP) equation with a nonlocal diffusion and a stationary ergodic nonlinearity. By employing and adapting the theory of stochastic homogenization, we show that solutions of this equation asymptotically converge to its stationary states in regions of space separated by a front that is determined by a Hamilton-Jacobi variational inequality.
We study a class of elliptic problems with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition and a nonlinear reaction term $f$ which is nonlocal depending on the $L^{p}$-norm of the unknown function. The nonlinearity $f$ can make the problem degenerate since it may even have multiple singularities in the nonlocal variable. We use fixed point arguments for an appropriately defined solution map to produce multiplicity of classical positive solutions with ordered norms.
We study a Dirichlet problem in the entire space for some nonlocal degenerate elliptic operators with internal nonlinearities. With very mild assumptions on the boundary datum, we prove existence and uniqueness of the solution in the viscosity sense. If we further assume uniform ellipticity then the solution is shown to be classical, and even smooth if both the operator and the boundary datum are smooth.
The present study is concerned with the following Schrödinger-Poisson system involving critical nonlocal term with general nonlinearity: $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} -Δu+V(x)u- ϕ|u|^3u= f(u), & x\in\mathbb{R}^3, -Δϕ= |u|^5, & x\in\mathbb{R}^3,\\ \end{array} \right. $$ Under certain assumptions on non-constant $V(x)$, the existence of a positive least energy solution is obtained by using some new analytical skills and Pohožaev type manifold. In particular, the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz type condition or monotonicity assumption on the nonlinearity is not necessary.
In this paper, we study the long-time dynamics for the wave equation with nonlocal weak damping and sup-cubic nonlinearity in a bounded smooth domain of $\mathbb{R}^3.$ Based on the Strichartz estimates for the case of bounded domains, we first prove the global well-posedness of the Shatah-Struwe solutions. Then we establish the existence of the global attractor for the Shatah-Struwe solution semigroup by the method of contractive function. Finally, we verify the existence of a polynomial attractor for this semigroup.
In this research, we would like to study the global (in time) existence of small data solutions to the following damped $σ$-evolution equations with nonlocal (in space) nonlinearity: \begin{equation*} \partial_{t}^{2}u+(-Δ)^σu+\partial_{t}u+(-Δ)^σ\partial_{t}u=I_α(|u|^{p}), \ \ t>0, \ \ x\in \mathbb{R}^{n}, \end{equation*} where $σ\geq1$, $p>1$ and $I_α$ is the Riesz potential of power nonlinearity $|u|^{p}$ for any $α\in (0,n)$. More precisely, by using the $(L^{m}\cap L^{2})-L^{2}$ and $L^{2}-L^{2}$ linear estimates, where $m\in[1,2]$, we show the new influence of the parameter $α$ on the ad…
We investigate the existence of ground state solutions for a class of nonlinear scalar field equations defined on whole real line, involving a fractional Laplacian and nonlinearities with Trudinger-Moser critical growth. We handle the lack of compactness of the associated energy functional due to the unboundedness of the domain and the presence of a limiting case embedding.
Pulsating fronts for nonlocal dispersion and KPP nonlinearity
We study the following Kirchhoff equation $$- \left(1 + b \int_{\mathbb{R}^3} |\nabla u|^2 dx \right) Δu + V(x) u = f(x,u), \ x \in \mathbb{R}^3.$$ A special feature of this paper is that the nonlinearity $f$ and the potential $V$ are indefinite, hence sign-changing. Under some appropriate assumptions on $V$ and $f$, we prove the existence of two different solutions of the equation via the Ekeland variational principle and Mountain Pass Theorem.
In this paper we prove the existence of the global attractor for the wave equation with nonlocal weak damping, nonlocal anti-damping and critical nonlinearity.
We study the problem \[ -\De u = \left(\int_{\Om}\frac{|u(y)|^{2^*_μ}}{|x-y|^μ}dy\right)|u|^{2^*_μ-2}u, \; \text{in}\; \Om,\quad u = 0 \; \text{ on } \pa \Om , \] where $\Om$ is a smooth bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N( N\geq 3)$, $2^*_μ=\frac{2N-μ}{N-2}$. we prove the existence of a positive solution of the above problem in an annular type domain when the inner hole is sufficiently small.
We prove convergence of positive solutions to \[ u_t = uΔu + u\int_Ω |\nabla u|^2, \qquad u\rvert_{\partialΩ} =0, \qquad u(\cdot,0)=u_0 \] in a bounded domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$, $n\ge 1$, with smooth boundary in the case of $\int_Ωu_0=1$ and identify the $W_0^{1,2}(Ω)$-limit of $u(t)$ as $t\to \infty$ as the solution of the corresponding stationary problem. This behaviour is different from the cases of $\int_Ωu_0<1$ and $\int_Ωu_0>1$ which are known to result in convergence to zero or blow-up in finite time, respectively. The proof is based on a monotonicity property of $\int_Ω |\nabla u…
In this paper we study an aggregation equation with a general nonlocal flux. We study the local well-posedness and some conditions ensuring global existence. We are also interested in the differences arising when the nonlinearity in the flux changes. Thus, we perform some numerics corresponding to different convexities for the nonlinearity in the equation.
The objective of this work is to investigate a nonlocal problem involving singular and critical nonlinearities:\begin{equation*}\left\{\begin{array}{ll} ([u]_{s,p}^p)^{σ-1}(-Δ)^s_p u = \fracλ{u^γ}+u^{ p_s^{*}-1 }\quad \text{in }Ω,\\ u>0,\;\;\;\;\quad \text{in }Ω,\\ u=0,\;\;\;\;\quad \text{in }\mathbb{R}^{N}\setminus Ω,\end{array} \right. \end{equation*} where $Ω$ is a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$ with the smooth boundary $\partial Ω$, $0 < s< 1<p<\infty$, $N> sp$, $1<σ<p^*_s/p,$ with $p_s^{*}=\frac{Np}{N-ps},$ $ (- Δ)_p^s$ is the nonlocal $p$-Laplace operator and $[u]_{s,p}$ is the Gagliar…
This paper deals with existence and multiplicity of positive solutions to the following class of nonlocal equations with critical nonlinearity: \begin{equation} \tag{$\mathcal E$} (-Δ)^s u = a(x) |u|^{2^*_s-2}u+f(x)\;\;\text{in}\;\mathbb{R}^{N}, \quad u \in \dot{H}^s(\mathbb{R}^{N}), \end{equation} where $s \in (0,1)$, $N>2s$, $2_s^*:=\frac{2N}{N-2s}$, $0< a\in L^\infty(\mathbb{R}^{N})$ and $f$ is a nonnegative nontrivial functional in the dual space of $\dot{H}^s$. We prove existence of a positive solution whose energy is negative. Further, under the additional assumption that $a$ is a contin…
The theory of elliptic equations involving singular nonlinearities is well studied topic but the interaction of singular type nonlinearity with nonlocal nonlinearity in elliptic problems has not been investigated so far. In this article, we study the very singular and doubly nonlocal singular problem $(P_λ)$(See below). Firstly, we establish a very weak comparison principle and the optimal Sobolev regularity. Next using the critical point theory of non-smooth analysis and the geometry of the energy functional, we establish the global multiplicity of positive weak solutions.
Seasonality frequently occurs in population models, and the corresponding seasonal patterns have been of great interest to scientists. This paper is concerned with traveling waves to a time-periodic bistable Lotka-Volterra competition system with nonlocal dispersal. We first establish the existence, uniqueness and stability of traveling wave solutions for this system. Then, by utilizing comparison principle and the stability property, the relationship among the bistable wave speed, the asymptotic propagation speeds of the associated monotone subsystems and the speed of upper/lower solutions is…
In this paper, we first establish a criterion based on contractive function for the existence of polynomial attractors. This criterion only involves some rather weak compactness associated with the repeated limit inferior and requires no compactness, which makes it suitable for critical cases. Then by this abstract theorem, we verify the existence of a polynomial attractor and estimate its attractive speed for the wave equation with nonlocal weak damping, anti-damping and critical nonlinearity.
This article concerns about the existence and multiplicity of weak solutions for the following nonlinear doubly nonlocal problem with critical nonlinearity in the sense of Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{split} (-Δ)^su &= λ|u|^{q-2}u + \left(\int_Ω\frac{|v(y)|^{2^*_μ}}{|x-y|^μ}~\mathrm{d}y\right) |u|^{2^*_μ-2}u\; \text{in}\; Ω (-Δ)^sv &= δ|v|^{q-2}v + \left(\int_{\Om}\frac{|u(y)|^{2^*_μ}}{|x-y|^μ}~\mathrm{d}y \right) |v|^{2^*_μ-2}v \; \text{in}\; Ω u &=v=0\; \text{in}\; \mb R^n\setminusΩ, \end{split} \right. \end{equation*} where $Ω$ is a smooth bounded dom…
The present paper is devoted to the study of transition fronts in nonlocal reaction-diffusion equations with time heterogeneous nonlinearity of ignition type. It is proven that such an equation admits space monotone transition fronts with finite speed and space regularity in the sense of uniform Lipschitz continuity. Our approach is first constructing a sequence of approximating front-like solutions and then proving that the approximating solutions converge to a transition front. We take advantage of the idea of modified interface location, which allows us to characterize the finite speed of a…
The aim of this paper is to study a nonlocal problem with a mixed Dirichlet-Neumann exterior condition. We prove existence, nonexistence and multiplicity of positive energy solutions and describe the interaction between the concave-convex nonlinearity and the Dirichlet-Neumann data.
We prove the existence of a positive solution for nonlocal problems involving the fractional Laplacian and a critical growth power nonlinearity when the equation is set in a suitable contractible domain.
The present paper is devoted to the investigation of various properties of transition fronts in nonlocal equations in heterogeneous media of ignition type, whose existence has been established by the authors of the present paper in a previous work. It is first shown that the transition front is continuously differentiable in space with uniformly bounded and uniformly Lipschitz continuous space partial derivative. This is the first time that regularity of transition fronts in nonlocal equations is ever studied. It is then shown that the transition front is uniformly steep. Finally, asymptotic s…
A nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS) with dispersion averaged nonlinearity of saturated type is considered. Such a nonlocal NLS is of integro-differential type and it arises naturally in modeling fiber-optics communication systems with periodically varying dispersion profile (dispersion management). The associated constrained variational principle is shown to posses a ground state solution by constructing a convergent minimizing sequence through the application of a method similar to the classical concentration compactness principle of Lions. One of the obstacles in applying this variational…
We perform an asymptotic analysis of models of population dynamics with a fractional Laplacian and local or nonlocal reaction terms. The first part of the paper is devoted to the long time/long range rescaling of the fractional Fisher-KPP equation. This rescaling is based on the exponential speed of propagation of the population. In particular we show that the only role of the fractional Laplacian in determining this speed is at the initial layer where it determines the thickness of the tails of the solutions. Next, we show that such rescaling is also possible for models with non-local reactio…
We consider a possibly anisotropic integro-differential semilinear equation, run by a nondecreasing and nontrivial nonlinearity. We prove that if the solution grows at infinity less than the order of the operator, then it must be constant.
We study boundary regularity of maps from two-dimensional domains into manifolds which are critical with respect to a generic conformally invariant variational functional and which, at the boundary, enter perpendicularly into a support manifold. For example, harmonic maps, or $H$-surfaces, with a partially free boundary condition. In the interior it is known, by the celebrated work of Riviere, that these maps satisfy a system with an antisymmetric potential, from which one can derive regularity of the solution. We show that these maps satisfy along the boundary a system with a nonlocal antisym…
In this paper, we investigate the semilinear equation with a time-space fractional structural damping and a nonlocal in time nonlinearity \begin{equation*} {\mathbf{D}}_{0|t}^{1+α_1}u + (-Δ)^σu+(-Δ)^δ\mathbf{D}_{0|t}^{α_2} u = I_{0|t}^{1-γ}|u|^{p}, \qquad (t,x)\in (0,\infty) \times \mathbb{R}^N, \end{equation*} where $p>1$, $α_i, γ in (0,1)$, $δ, σ\in (0,1)$, ${\mathbf{D}}_{0|t}^{α_i}$ is the Caputo fractional derivative and $I_{0|t}^{1-γ}$ is the Riemann-Liouville fractional integral of order $1-γ$. We prove the non-existence of global solutions if \begin{equation*} 1<p\leqslant \frac{2(2+α_1…
By means of variational methods we investigate existence, non-existence as well as regularity of weak solutions for a system of nonlocal equations involving the fractional laplacian operator and with nonlinearity reaching the critical growth and interacting, in a suitable sense, with the spectrum of the operator.
We consider here operators which are sum of (possibly) fractional derivatives, with (possibly different) order. The main constructive assumption is that the operator is of order~$2$ in one variable. By constructing an explicit barrier, we prove a Lipschitz estimate which controls the oscillation of the solutions in such direction with respect to the oscillation of the nonlinearity in the same direction. As a consequence, we obtain a rigidity result that, roughly speaking, states that if the nonlinearity is independent of a coordinate direction, then so is any global solution (provided that the…
