Multilingual speaker verification (SV) remains challenging due to limited cross-lingual data and language-dependent information in speaker embeddings. This paper presents a language-invariant multilingual SV system for the TidyVoice 2026 Challenge. We adopt the multilingual self-supervised w2v-BERT 2.0 model as the backbone, enhanced with Layer Adapters and Multi-scale Feature Aggregation to better exploit multi-layer representations. A language-adversarial training strategy with a Gradient Reversal Layer is applied to promote language-invariant speaker embeddings. Moreover, a multilingual zero-shot text-to-speech system is used to synthesize speech in multiple languages, improving language diversity. Experimental results demonstrate that fine-tuning the large-scale pretrained model yields competitive performance, while language-adversarial training further enhances robustness. In addition, synthetic speech augmentation provides additional gains under limited training data conditions. Source code is available at https://github.com/ZXHY-82/LI-MSV-TidyVoice2026.

In this paper, we present SANE-TTS, a stable and natural end-to-end multilingual TTS model. By the difficulty of obtaining multilingual corpus for given speaker, training multilingual TTS model with monolingual corpora is unavoidable. We introduce speaker regularization loss that improves speech naturalness during cross-lingual synthesis as well as domain adversarial training, which is applied in other multilingual TTS models. Furthermore, by adding speaker regularization loss, replacing speaker embedding with zero vector in duration predictor stabilizes cross-lingual inference. With this repl…
Speaker Verification (SV) is a task to verify the claimed identity of the claimant using his/her voice sample. Though there exists an ample amount of research in SV technologies, the development concerning a multilingual conversation is limited. In a country like India, almost all the speakers are polyglot in nature. Consequently, the development of a Multilingual SV (MSV) system on the data collected in the Indian scenario is more challenging. With this motivation, the Indic- Multilingual Speaker Verification (I-MSV) Challenge 2022 has been designed for understanding and comparing the state-o…

Recent advances in neural TTS have led to models that can produce high-quality synthetic speech. However, these models typically require large amounts of training data, which can make it costly to produce a new voice with the desired quality. Although multi-speaker modeling can reduce the data requirements necessary for a new voice, this approach is usually not viable for many low-resource languages for which abundant multi-speaker data is not available. In this paper, we therefore investigated to what extent multilingual multi-speaker modeling can be an alternative to monolingual multi-speake…
Generating 3D speech-driven talking head has received more and more attention in recent years. Recent approaches mainly have following limitations: 1) most speaker-independent methods need handcrafted features that are time-consuming to design or unreliable; 2) there is no convincing method to support multilingual or mixlingual speech as input. In this work, we propose a novel approach using phonetic posteriorgrams (PPG). In this way, our method doesn't need hand-crafted features and is more robust to noise compared to recent approaches. Furthermore, our method can support multilingual speech …

This work examines the content and usefulness of disentangled phone and speaker representations from two separately trained VQ-VAE systems: one trained on multilingual data and another trained on monolingual data. We explore the multi- and monolingual models using four small proof-of-concept tasks: copy-synthesis, voice transformation, linguistic code-switching, and content-based privacy masking. From these tasks, we reflect on how disentangled phone and speaker representations can be used to manipulate speech in a meaningful way. Our experiments demonstrate that the VQ representations are sui…
In this paper, we describe SpeakerStew - a hybrid system to perform speaker verification on 46 languages. Two core ideas were explored in this system: (1) Pooling training data of different languages together for multilingual generalization and reducing development cycles; (2) A novel triage mechanism between text-dependent and text-independent models to reduce runtime cost and expected latency. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study of speaker verification systems at the scale of 46 languages. The problem is framed from the perspective of using a smart speaker device with inter…
We present progress towards bilingual Text-to-Speech which is able to transform a monolingual voice to speak a second language while preserving speaker voice quality. We demonstrate that a bilingual speaker embedding space contains a separate distribution for each language and that a simple transform in speaker space generated by the speaker embedding can be used to control the degree of accent of a synthetic voice in a language. The same transform can be applied even to monolingual speakers. In our experiments speaker data from an English-Spanish (Mexican) bilingual speaker was used, and the …

A text-independent speaker recognition system relies on successfully encoding speech factors such as vocal pitch, intensity, and timbre to achieve good performance. A majority of such systems are trained and evaluated using spoken voice or everyday conversational voice data. Spoken voice, however, exhibits a limited range of possible speaker dynamics, thus constraining the utility of the derived speaker recognition models. Singing voice, on the other hand, covers a broader range of vocal and ambient factors and can, therefore, be used to evaluate the robustness of a speaker recognition system.…

Recent years have seen a surge in finding association between faces and voices within a cross-modal biometric application along with speaker recognition. Inspired from this, we introduce a challenging task in establishing association between faces and voices across multiple languages spoken by the same set of persons. The aim of this paper is to answer two closely related questions: "Is face-voice association language independent?" and "Can a speaker be recognised irrespective of the spoken language?". These two questions are very important to understand effectiveness and to boost development …
We work to create a multilingual speech synthesis system which can generate speech with the proper accent while retaining the characteristics of an individual voice. This is challenging to do because it is expensive to obtain bilingual training data in multiple languages, and the lack of such data results in strong correlations that entangle speaker, language, and accent, resulting in poor transfer capabilities. To overcome this, we present a multilingual, multiaccented, multispeaker speech synthesis model based on RADTTS with explicit control over accent, language, speaker and fine-grained $F…
Spoken language identification (LID) technologies have improved in recent years from discriminating largely distinct languages to discriminating highly similar languages or even dialects of the same language. One aspect that has been mostly neglected, however, is discrimination of languages for multilingual speakers, despite being a primary target audience of many systems that utilize LID technologies. As we show in this work, LID systems can have a high average accuracy for most combinations of languages while greatly underperforming for others when accented speech is present. We address this…

We present a multispeaker, multilingual text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis model based on Tacotron that is able to produce high quality speech in multiple languages. Moreover, the model is able to transfer voices across languages, e.g. synthesize fluent Spanish speech using an English speaker's voice, without training on any bilingual or parallel examples. Such transfer works across distantly related languages, e.g. English and Mandarin. Critical to achieving this result are: 1. using a phonemic input representation to encourage sharing of model capacity across languages, and 2. incorporating an a…
While neural methods for text-to-speech (TTS) have shown great advances in modeling multiple speakers, even in zero-shot settings, the amount of data needed for those approaches is generally not feasible for the vast majority of the world's over 6,000 spoken languages. In this work, we bring together the tasks of zero-shot voice cloning and multilingual low-resource TTS. Using the language agnostic meta learning (LAML) procedure and modifications to a TTS encoder, we show that it is possible for a system to learn speaking a new language using just 5 minutes of training data while retaining the…
This paper presents an analysis of speech synthesis quality achieved by simultaneously performing voice conversion and language code-switching using multilingual VQ-VAE speech synthesis in German, French, English and Italian. In this paper, we utilize VQ code indices representing phone information from VQ-VAE to perform code-switching and a VQ speaker code to perform voice conversion in a single system with a neural vocoder. Our analysis examines several aspects of code-switching including the number of language switches and the number of words involved in each switch. We found that speech syn…
We describe a system for large-scale audiovisual translation and dubbing, which translates videos from one language to another. The source language's speech content is transcribed to text, translated, and automatically synthesized into target language speech using the original speaker's voice. The visual content is translated by synthesizing lip movements for the speaker to match the translated audio, creating a seamless audiovisual experience in the target language. The audio and visual translation subsystems each contain a large-scale generic synthesis model trained on thousands of hours of …

Many commercial and forensic applications of speech demand the extraction of information about the speaker characteristics, which falls into the broad category of speaker profiling. The speaker characteristics needed for profiling include physical traits of the speaker like height, age, and gender of the speaker along with the native language of the speaker. Many of the datasets available have only partial information for speaker profiling. In this paper, we attempt to overcome this limitation by developing a new dataset which has speech data from five different Indian languages along with Eng…

We introduce an approach to multilingual speech synthesis which uses the meta-learning concept of contextual parameter generation and produces natural-sounding multilingual speech using more languages and less training data than previous approaches. Our model is based on Tacotron 2 with a fully convolutional input text encoder whose weights are predicted by a separate parameter generator network. To boost voice cloning, the model uses an adversarial speaker classifier with a gradient reversal layer that removes speaker-specific information from the encoder. We arranged two experiments to compa…
In cross-lingual speech synthesis, the speech in various languages can be synthesized for a monoglot speaker. Normally, only the data of monoglot speakers are available for model training, thus the speaker similarity is relatively low between the synthesized cross-lingual speech and the native language recordings. Based on the multilingual transformer text-to-speech model, this paper studies a multi-task learning framework to improve the cross-lingual speaker similarity. To further improve the speaker similarity, joint training with a speaker classifier is proposed. Here, a scheme similar to p…
