It has long been understood that the inclusion of temperature in the perturbative treatment of quantum field theories leads to complications that are not present at zero temperature. In these proceedings we report on the non-perturbative obstructions that arise, and how these lead to deviations in the predictions of lattice scalar correlation functions in massive $ϕ^{4}$ theory. Using the known non-perturbative spectral constraints satisfied by finite-temperature correlation functions we outline why the presence of distinct particle-like excitations could provide a resolution to these issues.
The main objective of this thesis is to present a new analytical framework for low-energy QCD that goes under the name of massive, or "screened", perturbative expansion. The massive perturbative expansion is motivated by the phenomenon of dynamical mass generation, by which the gluons acquire a mass of the order of the QCD scale $Λ_{\text{QCD}}$ in the limit of vanishing momentum. It is a simple extension of ordinary perturbation theory that consists in a shift of the expansion point of the Yang-Mills perturbative series with the aim of treating the transverse gluons as massive already at tree…

In QCD both the quark and ghost propagators are important for governing the non-perturbative dynamics of the theory. It turns out that the dynamical properties of the quark and ghost fields impose non-perturbative constraints on the analytic structure of these propagators. In this work we explicitly derive these constraints. In doing so we establish that the corresponding spectral densities include components which are multiples of discrete mass terms, and that the propagators are permitted to contain singular contributions involving derivatives of $δ(p)$, both of which are particularly releva…
We study perturbative unitarity constraints on generic Yukawa interactions where the involved fields have arbitrary quantum numbers under an $\prod_i SU(N_i) \otimes U(1)$ group. We derive compact expressions for the bounds on the Yukawa couplings for the cases where the fields transform under the trivial, fundamental or adjoint representation of the various $SU(N)$ factors. We apply our results to specific models formulated to explain the anomalous measurements of $(g-2)_μ$ and of the charged- and neutral-current decays of the $B$ mesons. We show that, while these models can generally still e…
We propose an effectively nonperturbative approach to calculating scattering amplitudes in the perturbative regime. We do this in a discretized momentum space by using the QSE method to calculate all the contributions (to all orders in perturbation theory) to the scattering eigenstates that are above a precision cutoff. We then calculate the scattering amplitude by directly taking the inner product between these eigenstates. In the current work we have analyzed this procedure for a $λϕ^4$ theory in one spatial dimension and compared our results with perturbation theory obtaining favorable resu…
We study quantum mechanical systems with a discrete spectrum. We show that the asymptotic series associated to certain paths of steepest-descent (Lefschetz thimbles) are Borel resummable to the full result. Using a geometrical approach based on the Picard-Lefschetz theory we characterize the conditions under which perturbative expansions lead to exact results. Even when such conditions are not met, we explain how to define a different perturbative expansion that reproduces the full answer without the need of transseries, i.e. non-perturbative effects, such as real (or complex) instantons. Appl…
There are nowadays strong experimental constraints on supersymmetric theories from the Higgs measurements as well as from the null results in Sparticle searches. However, even the parameter spaces which are in agreement with experimental data can be further constrained by using theoretical considerations. Here, we discuss for the MSSM and NMSSM the impact of perturbative unitarity as well as of the stability of the one-loop effective potential. We find in the case of the MSSM, that vacuum stability is always the stronger constraint. On the other side, the situation is more diverse in the NMSSM…
We propose a novel method to calculate the meson mass in the framework of Dyson-Schwinger equation and Bethe-Salpeter equation, once their dominant interactions are identified. The method is based on the perturbation theory of matrix, which is widely used in quantum mechanics. Taking interactions other than the dominant ones as perturbations, we derive the first order correction of quark propagator. Implementing the perturbation on BSE, the mass correction at first order is then given. We exemplify this method with the well known Rainbow-Ladder (RL) truncation, and go beyond the RL using a sim…
