We employ the Zubarev approach of the non-equilibrium statistical operator to investigate the enhancement of the low-$p_T$ region of pion spectra, introducing an effective pion chemical potential to describe the overpopulation of low-energy pion states. We test a corresponding freeze-out approach by analyzing the transverse-momentum spectra of identified particles measured recently with high precision by the ALICE Collaboration in Pb+Pb collisions at CERN LHC. A blast-wave model and a blast-wave-based particle generator, coupled to a hadronic transport model, are utilized. Bayesian inference methods are applied to extract the most probable sets of thermodynamic parameters at the chemical freeze-out hypersurface. Both models for the overpopulated pion states, the hadronic transport model and the thermal model with a nonzero pion chemical potential, provide a satisfactory description of the observed pion spectra. However, both approaches contain approximations which can be improved within a systematic nonequilibrium approach. We demonstrate that the introduction of a nonequilibrium pion chemical potential offers an efficient alternative to the conventional explanation of the low-$p_T$ enhancement, typically attributed to resonance decays with subsequent thermalization. A similar discussion holds also for the kaon spectra.
We discuss the collider phenomenology of the model of Minimal Universal Extra Dimensions (MUED) at the Large hadron Collider (LHC). We derive analytical results for all relevant strong pair-production processes of two level 1 Kaluza-Klein partners and use them to validate and correct the existing MUED implementation in the fortran version of the PYTHIA event generator. We also develop a new implementation of the model in the C++ version of PYTHIA. We use our implementations in conjunction with the CHECKMATE package to derive the LHC bounds on MUED from a large number of published experimental …

The evaluation of one-loop matrix elements is one of the main bottlenecks in precision calculations for the high-luminosity phase of the Large Hadron Collider. To alleviate this problem, a new C++ interface to the MCFM parton-level Monte Carlo is introduced, giving access to an extensive library of analytic results for one-loop amplitudes. Timing comparisons are presented for a large set of Standard Model processes. These are relevant for high-statistics event simulation in the context of experimental analyses and precision fixed-order computations.
We propose a framework to construct "Domain-Wall Standard Model" in a non compact 5-dimensional space-time, where all the Standard Model (SM) fields are localized in certain domains of the 5th dimension and the SM is realized as a 4-dimensional effective theory without any compactification for the 5th dimension. In this context, we investigate the collider phenomenology of the Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes of the SM gauge bosons and the current constraints from the search for a new gauge boson resonance at the LHC Run-2. The couplings of the SM fermions with the KK-mode gauge bosons depend on the co…
The aim of this work is to explore the possibility to discover a fermionic field with mass dimension one, the Elko field, in the 14 TeV Large Hadron Collider (LHC), in processes with missing energy and one jet. We explore the possibility of a triple coupling with the Higgs field, generating also a contribution to the Elko mass term, and suggest some possibilities for future studies in this field.
We study the effective field theory obtained by extending the Standard Model field content with two singlets: a 750 GeV (pseudo-)scalar and a stable fermion. Accounting for collider productions initiated by both gluon and photon fusion, we investigate where the theory is consistent with both the LHC diphoton excess and bounds from Run 1. We analyze dark matter phenomenology in such regions, including relic density constraints as well as collider, direct, and indirect bounds. Scalar portal dark matter models are very close to limits from direct detection and mono-jet searches if gluon fusion do…
We describe the program KKMC-hh, which calculates Z boson processes in hadronic collisions using coherent exclusive exponentiation (CEEX) with exact second-order photonic corrections at next-to-leading log and first-order weak vertex corrections, including initial and final state photonic radiation and initial-final interference. We describe current applications to precision forward-backward asymmetry calculations for the measurement of the electroweak mixing angle at the LHC.
The phenomenology of the neutral scalar bosons in the compact 341 model is discussed. We show that the predictions of this model are fairly good and compatible with the experimental data by calculating the signal strength of $h_1$ for the channels $b\bar{b}$, W$W^{*}$, Z$Z^{*}$, $τ\barτ$ and $γγ$. Moreover, we use the branching ratios to search for the heavy neutral scalar bosons $h_2$ and $h_3$ where we take into account the theoretical constraints to precise the allowed ranges for the fundamental parameters of the scalar potential.
Composite Higgs models with a fermionic UV completion can contain additional colored states beside the usual top-partners. We focus here on a model which contains in addition SU(3) color octet top partners as well as color singlet ones. The latter can in principle serve as a dark matter candidate. We consider a particular composite Higgs model which contains SU(3) color octet top partners besides the usually considered triplet representations. Moreover, color singlet top partners are present as well which can in principle serve as dark matter candidates. We investigate the LHC phenomenology of…
The LHC implications are presented of a simplified model of broken flavor symmetry in which a new scalar (a flavon) emerges with mass in the TeV range. We summarize the influence of the model on Higgs boson physics, notably on the production cross section and decay branching fractions. Limits are obtained on the flavon $φ$ from heavy Higgs boson searches at the LHC at 7 and 8 TeV. The branching fractions of the flavon are computed as a function of the flavon mass and the Higgs-flavon mixing angle. We explore possible discovery of the flavon at 14 TeV, particularly via the $φ\rightarrow Z^0Z^0$…
We examine direct limits on masses of the extra neutral gauge bosons in the SU(4)_L \times U(1)_X model with a little Higgs mechanism confronted with the LHC data, especially by embedding anomaly-free set of fermions. There exist two extra neutral gauge bosons, calling Z' and Z", in this model. The lower exclusion limit of the mass of the lighter extra neutral gauge boson is about 3 TeV while that of the heavier one 5 TeV. For comparison, we examine the mass limit of Z'_3 boson in the SU(3)_L \times U(1)_X model as well, and discuss the implication of our result in the SU(4)_L \times U(1)_X mo…
Type-X two Higgs doublet model is known to explain the muon $g-2$ anomaly with a relatively light charged Higgs boson at large $\tanβ$. The light charged Higgs boson has been searched in the main $τν$ mode at the colliders. Invoking a scenario of inverse seesaw as the origin of neutrino masses and mixing, the charged Higgs boson can decay additionally to right-handed neutrinos which leads to interesting phenomenology. Considering generic lepton flavour violating signatures at the final states, a $5σ$ discovery can be achieved with the early data of LHC, at 14 TeV, for relatively large inverse …
