An existence and uniqueness theory to stochastic partial differential equations involving pseudo-differential operators driven by space-time white noise
In this paper, we aim to develop a new weak formulation that ensures well-posedness for a broad range of stochastic partial differential equations with pseudo-differential operators whose symbols depend only on time and spatial frequencies. The main focus of this paper is to relax the conditions on the symbols of pseudo-differential operators and data while still ensuring that the stochastic partial differential equations remain well-posed in a weak sense. Specifically, we allow symbols to be random and remove all regularity and ellipticity conditions on them. As a result, our main operators include many interesting rough operators that cannot generate any regularity gain or integrability improvement from the equations. In addition, our data do not need to be regular or possess finite stochastic moments.
We prove pathwise uniqueness for solutions of parabolic stochastic pde's with multiplicative white noise if the coefficient is Hölder continuous of index $γ>3/4$. The method of proof is an infinite-dimensional version of the Yamada-Watanabe argument for ordinary stochastic differential equations.
We establish global-in-time existence and non-uniqueness of probabilistically strong solutions to the three dimensional Navier--Stokes system driven by space-time white noise. In this setting, solutions are expected to have space regularity at most $-1/2-κ$ for any $κ>0$. Consequently, the convective term is ill-defined analytically and probabilistic renormalization is required. Up to now, only local well-posedness has been known. With the help of paracontrolled calculus we decompose the system in a way which makes it amenable to convex integration. By a careful analysis of the regularity of e…
We study local existence and uniqueness for a surface growth model with space-time white noise in 2D. Unfortunately, the direct fixed-point argument for mild solutions fails here, as we do not have sufficient regularity for the stochastic forcing. Nevertheless, one can give a rigorous meaning to the stochastic PDE and show uniqueness of solutions in that setting. Using spectral Galerkin method and any other types of regularization of the noise, we obtain always the same solution.
We study the solutions of the stochastic heat equation driven by spatially inhomogeneous multiplicative white noise based on a fractal measure. We prove pathwise uniqueness for solutions of this equation when the noise coefficient is Hölder continuous of index $γ>1-\fracη{2(η+1)}$. Here $η\in(0,1)$ is a constant that defines the spatial regularity of the noise.
We prove the existence and uniqueness of a mild solution for a class of non-autonomous parabolic mixed stochastic partial differential equations defined on a bounded open subset $D \subset \mathbb{R}^d$ and involving standard and fractional $L^2(D)$-valued Brownian motions. We assume that the coefficients are homogeneous, Lipschitz continuous and the coefficient at the fractional Brownian motion is an affine function.
We consider the Kolmogorov operator $K$ associated to a stochastic Navier-Stokes equation driven by space-time white noise on the two-dimensional torus with periodic boundary conditions and a rotating reference frame, introducing fictitious forces such as the Coriolis force. This equation then serves as a simple model for geophysical flows. We prove that the Gaussian measure induced by the enstrophy is infinitesimally invariant for $K$ on finitely based cylindrical test functions and moreover $K$ is $L^1$-unique w. r. t. the enstrophy measure for sufficiently large viscosity.
We consider the linear and nonlinear Schr{ö}dinger equation with a spatial white noise as a potential in dimension 2. We prove existence and uniqueness of solutions thanks to a change of unknown originally used in [8] and conserved quantities.
In this article, we study stochastic partial differential equations with two reflecting walls, driven by space-time white noise with non-constant diffusion coefficients under periodic boundary conditions. The existence and uniqueness of invariant measures is established under appropriate conditions. The strong Feller property is also obtained.
We study the well solvability of nonlinear backward stochastic evolutionary equations driven by a space-time white noise. We first establish a novel a priori estimate for solution of linear backward stochastic evolutionary equations, and then give an existence and uniqueness result for nonlinear backward stochastic evolutionary equations. A dual argument plays a crucial role in the proof of these results. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the existence and uniqueness result.
We study the solutions of the stochastic heat equation with multiplicative space-time white noise. We prove a comparison theorem between the solutions of stochastic heat equations with the same noise coefficient which is Hölder continuous of index $γ>3/4$, and drift coefficients that are Lipschitz continuous. Later we use the comparison theorem to get sufficient conditions for the pathwise uniqueness for solutions of the stochastic heat equation, when both the white noise and the drift coefficients are Hölder continuous.
In this paper we study 3D Navier-Stokes (NS) equation driven by space-time white noise by using regularity structure theory introduced in [Hai14] and paracontrolled distribution proposed in [GIP13]. We obtain local existence and uniqueness of solutions to the 3D Navier-Stokes equation driven by space-time white noise.
We consider strong uniqueness and thus also existence of strong solutions for the stochastic heat equation with a multiplicative colored noise term. Here, the noise is white in time and colored in q dimensional space ($q \geq 1$) with a singular correlation kernel. The noise coefficient is Hölder continuous in the solution. We discuss improvements of the sufficient conditions obtained in Mytnik, Perkins and Sturm (2006) that relate the Hölder coefficient with the singularity of the correlation kernel of the noise. For this we use new ideas of Mytnik and Perkins (2011) who treat the case of str…
In this paper, we concern a system of stochastic PDE's. Our system consists of two components. Each component evolves according to the sotchastic Allen-Cahn equation with a symmetric double well potential and with addtional small space-time white noise. The two components interact with each other by an attractive linear force. We aim to give a global existence and uniqueness result in a space of continuous functions on $\mathbb{R} \times \mathbb{R}^+$. We apply methods proposed by Doering \cite{Doering1987}.
The purpose of this paper is to establish the theory of stochastic pseudo-differential operators and give its applications in stochastic partial differential equations. First, we introduce some concepts on stochastic pseudo-differential operators and prove their fundamental properties. Also, we present the boundedness theory, invertibility of stochastic elliptic operators and the Garding inequality. Moreover, as an application of the theory of stochastic pseudo-differential operators, we give a Calderon-type uniqueness theorem on the Cauchy problem of stochastic partial differential equations.…
In this Note, we present a Calderón-type uniqueness theorem on the Cauchy problem of stochastic partial differential equations. To this aim, we introduce the concept of stochastic pseudo-differential operators, and establish their boundedness and other fundamental properties. The proof of our uniqueness theorem is based on a new Carleman-type estimate.
We prove uniqueness in law for a class of parabolic stochastic partial differential equations in an interval driven by a functional A(u) of the temperature u times a space-time white noise. The functional A(u) is Hölder continuous in u of order greater than 1/2. Our method involves looking at an associated system of infinite-dimensional stochastic differential equations and we obtain a uniqueness result for such systems.
In this article we consider existence and uniqueness of the solutions to a large class of stochastic partial differential of form $\partial_t u = L_x u + b(t,u)+σ(t,u)\dot{W}$, driven by a Gaussian noise $\dot{W}$, white in time and spatial correlations given by a generic covariance $γ$. We provide natural conditions under which classical Picard iteration procedure provides a unique solution. We illustrate the applicability of our general result by providing several interesting particular choices for the operator $L_x$ under which our existence and uniqueness result hold. In particular, we sho…
Pathwise non-uniqueness is established for non-negative solutions of the parabolic stochastic pde $$\frac{\partial X}{\partial t}=\fracΔ{2}X+X^p\dot W+ψ,\ X_0\equiv 0$$ where $\dot W$ is a white noise, $ψ\ge 0$ is smooth, compactly supported and non-trivial, and $0<p<1/2$. We further show that any solution spends positive time at the 0 function.
We introduce a discretization/approximation scheme for reflected stochastic partial differential equations driven by space-time white noise through systems of reflecting stochastic differential equations. To establish the convergence of the scheme, we study the existence and uniqueness of solutions of Skorohod-type deterministic systems on time-dependent domains. We also need to establish the convergence of an approximation scheme for deterministic parabolic obstacle problems. Both are of independent interest on their own.
We study existence and uniqueness of solution for stochastic differential equations with distributional drift by giving a meaning to the Stroock-Varadhan martingale problem associated such equations. The approach we exploit is the one of paracontrolled distributions introduced in [13]. As a result we make sense of the three dimensional polymer measure with white noise potential.
We prove existence and uniqueness of martingale solutions to a (slightly) hyperviscous stochastic Navier-Stokes equation in 2d with initial conditions absolutely continuous with respect to the Gibbs measure associated to the energy, getting the results both in the torus and in the whole space setting.

A stochastic Navier-Stokes equation with space-time Gaussian white noise is considered, having as infinitesimal invariant measure a Gaussian measure μ_ν whose covariance is given in terms of the enstrophy. Pathwise uniqueness for μ_ν-a.e. initial velocity is proven for solutions having μ_ν as invariant measure.
We study a system of two reflected SPDEs which share a moving boundary. The equations describe competition at an interface and are motivated by the modelling of the limit order book in financial markets. The derivative of the moving boundary is given by a function of the two SPDEs in their relative frames. We prove existence and uniqueness for the equations until blow-up, and show that the solution is global when the boundary speed is bounded. We also derive the expected Hölder continuity for the process and hence for the derivative of the moving boundary. Both the case when the spatial domain…
We consider the modified Surface Quasi-Geostrophic (mSQG) equation on the 2D torus $\mathbb{T}^2$, perturbed by multiplicative transport noise. The equation admits the white noise measure on $\mathbb{T}^2$ as the invariant measure. We first prove the existence of white noise solutions to the stochastic equation via the method of point vortex approximation, then, under a suitable scaling limit of the noise, we show that the solutions converge weakly to the unique stationary solution of the dissipative mSQG equation driven by space-time white noise. The weak uniqueness of the latter equation is …
We investigate the properties of the Wick square of Gaussian white noises through a new method to perform non linear operations on Hida distributions. This method lays in between the Wick product interpretation and the usual definition of nonlinear functions. We prove on Ito-type formula and solve stochastic differential equations driven by the renormalized square of the Gaussian white noise. Our approach works with standard assumptions on the coefficients of the equations, Lipschitz continuity and linear growth condition, and produces existence and uniqueness results in the space where the no…
We consider the stochastic heat equation $$\frac{\partial Y_t(x)}{\partial t} = \frac{1}{2} Δ_x Y_t(x) + Y_{t-}(x)^β \dot{L}^α$$ with $t \ge 0$, $x \in \mathbb{R}$ and $L^α$ being an $α$-stable white noise without negative jumps. Under appropriate non-negative initial conditions, when $α\in (1,2)$ and $β\in (\frac{1}α, 1)$ we prove that weak uniqueness holds for the above using the approximating duality approach developed by Mytnik (Ann. Probab. (1998) 26 968-984).
In this paper we study the Poisson and heat equations on bounded and unbounded domains with smooth boundary with random Dirichlet boundary conditions. The main novelty of this work is a convenient framework for the analysis of such equations excited by the white in time and/or space noise on the boundary. Our approach allows us to show the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions in the space of distributions. Then we prove that the solutions can be identified as smooth functions inside the domain, and finally the rate of their blow up at the boundary is estimated. A large class of noises in…
We prove the existence and uniqueness of solutions to a one-dimensional Stefan Problem for reflected SPDEs which are driven by space-time white noise. The solutions are shown to exist until almost surely positive blow-up times. Such equations can model the evolution of phases driven by competition at an interface, with the dynamics of the shared boundary depending on the derivatives of two competing profiles at this point. The novel features here are the presence of space-time white noise; the reflection measures, which maintain positivity for the competing profiles; and a sufficient condition…
This paper deals with the existence and uniqueness of ($μ$-pseudo) almost periodic mild solution to some evolution equations with Stepanov ($μ$-pseudo) almost periodic coefficients, in both determinist and stochastic cases. After revisiting some known concepts and properties of Stepanov ($μ$-pseudo) almost periodicity in complete metric space, we consider a semilinear stochastic evolution equation on a Hilbert separable space with Stepanov ($μ$-pseudo) almost periodic coefficients. We show existence and uniqueness of the mild solution which is ($μ$-pseudo) almost periodic in 2-distribution. We…

We establish existence and uniqueness of the solution to the cavity equation for the random assignment problem in pseudo-dimension $d>1$, as conjectured by Aldous and Bandyopadhyay (Annals of Applied Probability, 2005) and Wästlund (Annals of Mathematics, 2012). This fills the last remaining gap in the proof of the original Mézard-Parisi prediction for this problem (Journal de Physique Lettres, 1985).
In this paper, we prove existence, uniqueness and regularity for a class of stochastic partial differential equations with a fractional Laplacian driven by a space-time white noise in dimension one. The equation we consider may also include a reaction term.
This is a review article which presents part of the contribution of Sergio Albeverio to the study of existence and uniqueness of solutions of SPDEs driven by jump processes and their stability properties. The results on stability properties obtained in Albeverio et al. [1] are presented in a slightly simplified and different way.
In this paper, we introduce the concepts of Poisson square-mean almost automorphy and Poisson square-mean weighted pseudo almost automorphy. Using the theory of evolution family and stochastic analysis techniques, we establish the existence and uniqueness results of square-mean weighted pseudo almost automorphic solutions for some linear and semilinear nonautonomous stochastic differential equations driven by L$\acute{e}$vy noise. Moreover, we investigate the global and local exponentially stability of the square-mean weighted pseudo almost automorphic solutions.
In this paper, we study the stochastic heat equation (SHE) on $\mathbb{R}^d$ subject to a centered Gaussian noise that is white in time and colored in space. We establish the existence and uniqueness of the random field solution in the presence of locally Lipschitz drift and diffusion coefficients, which can have certain superlinear growth. This is a nontrivial extension of the recent work by Dalang, Khoshnevisan and Zhang (2019), where the one-dimensional SHE on $[0,1]$ subject to space-time white noise has been studied.
In this paper we study the pathwise uniqueness of solution to the following stochastic partial differential equation (SPDE) with Hölder continuous coefficient: \begin{eqnarray*} \frac{\partial X_t(x)}{\partial t}=\frac{1}{2} ΔX_t(x) +G(X_t(x))+H(X_{t-}(x)) \dot{L}_t(x),~~~ t>0, ~x\in\mathbb{R}, \end{eqnarray*} where $\dot{L}$ denotes an $α$-stable white noise on $\mathbb{R}_+\times \mathbb{R}$ without negative jumps, $G$ satisfies the Lipschitz condition and $H$ is nondecreasing and $β$-Hölder continuous for $1<α<2$ and $0<β<1$. For $G\equiv0$ and $H(x)=x^β$, in Mytnik (2002) a weak solution t…
We consider stochastic partial differential equations on $\mathbb{R}^{d}, d\geq 1$, driven by a Gaussian noise white in time and colored in space, for which the pathwise uniqueness holds. By using the Skorokhod representation theorem we establish various strong stability results. Then, we give an application to the convergence of the Picard successive approximation. Finally, we show that in the sense of Baire category, almost all stochastic partial differential equations with continuous and bounded coefficients have the properties of existence and uniqueness of solutions as well as the continu…
We delve deeper into the study of semimartingale attractors that we recently introduced in Allouba and Langa \cite{AL0}. In this article we focus on second order SPDEs of the Allen-Cahn type. After proving existence, uniqueness, and detailed regularity results for our SPDEs and a corresponding random PDE of Allen-Cahn type, we prove the existence of semimartingale global attractors for these equations. We also give some results on the finite dimensional asymptotic behavior of the solutions. In particular, we show the finite fractal dimension of this random attractor and give a result on determ…
In this paper, we introduce the concept of $S^{2}$-weighted pseudo almost automorphy for stochastic processes. We study the existence and uniqueness of square-mean weighted pseudo almost automorphic solutions for the semilinear stochastic integral equation $x(t)=\int_{-\infty}^{t}a(t-s)[Ax(s)+f(s,x(s))]ds+\int_{-\infty}^{t}a(t-s)φ(s,x(s))dw(s), \ t\in\mathbb{R}$, where $a\in L^{1}(\mathbb{R}_{+})$, $A$ is the generator of an integral resolvent family on a Hilbert space $H$, $w(t)$ is the two-sided $Q$-Wiener process, $f,φ: \mathbb{R}\times L^{2}(P,H)\rightarrow L^{2}(P,H)$ are two $S^{2}$-weig…
A variant of the optimal control problem is considered which is nonstandard in that the performance index contains "stochastic" integrals, that is, integrals against very irregular functions. The motivation for considering such performance indices comes from dynamical estimation problems where observed time series need to be "fitted" with trajectories of dynamical models. The observations may be contaminated with white noise, which gives rise to the nonstandard performance indices. Problems of this kind appear in engineering, physics, and the geosciences where this is referred to as data assim…
