The quantum coherence is considered within phase-sensitive nonadiabatic dressed states. Two types of phase correlations are found: a rapidly changing phase correlation between the real and the virtual components and a stationary phase correlation between different virtual components of these states.
Because of using geometric phases, nonadiabatic geometric gates have the robustness against control errors. On the other hand, decoherence still affects nonadiabatic geometric gates, which is a key factor in reducing their fidelities. In this paper, we show that based on the system Hamiltonian that realizes a nonadiabatic geometric gate, one may construct a new system Hamiltonian, by using which not only the geometric feature of the nonadiabatic geometric gate is preserved, but also the system's coherence is protected. As a result, a coherence-protected nonadiabatic geometric gate is realized …
We propose a protocol to realize nonadiabatic geometric quantum computation of small-amplitude Schrödinger cat qubits via invariant-based reverse engineering. We consider a system with a two-photon driven Kerr nonlinearity, which provides a pair of dressed even and odd coherent states, i.e., Schrödinger cat states for fault-tolerant quantum computations. An additional coherent field is applied to linearly drive a cavity mode, to induce oscillations between dressed cat states. By designing this linear drive with invariant-based reverse engineering, nonadiabatic geometric quantum computation wit…
Implementing holonomic quantum computation is a challenging task as it requires complicated interaction among multilevel systems. Here we propose to implement nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation based on dressed-state qubits in circuit QED. An arbitrary holonomic single-qubit gate can be conveniently achieved using external microwave fields and tuning their amplitudes and phases. Meanwhile, nontrivial two-qubit gates can be implemented in a coupled-cavities scenario assisted by a grounding SQUID with tunable interaction, where the tuning is achieved by modulating the ac flux threaded th…
Nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation has robust feature in suppressing control errors because of its holonomic feature. However, this kind of robust feature is challenged since the usual way of realizing nonadiabatic holonomic gates introduces errors due to systematic errors in the control parameters. To resolve this problem, we here propose a composite scheme to realize nonadiabatic holonomic gates. Our scheme can suppress systematic errors while preserving holonomic robustness. It is particularly useful when the evolution period is shorter than the coherence time. We further show that …
We present a new paradigm in the field of cavity QED by bringing out remarkable features associated with the avoided crossing of the dressed state levels of the Jaynes Cummings model. We demonstrate how the parametric couplings, realized by a second order nonlinearity in the cavity, can turn the crossing of dressed states into avoided crossings. We show how one can generate coherence between the avoided crossing of dressed states. Such coherences result, for example, in quantum beats in the excitation probability of the qubit. The quality of quantum beats can be considerably improved by adiaba…
Nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centres in diamond hold promise in quantum sensing applications. A major interest in them is an enhancement of their sensitivity by the extension of the coherence time ($T_2$). In this report, we experimentally generated more than four dressed states in a single NV centre in diamond based on Autler-Townes splitting (ATS). We also observed the extension of the coherence time to $T_2 \sim$ 1.5 ms which is more than two orders of magnitude longer than that of the undressed states. As an example of a quantum application using these results we propose a protocol of quantum sen…
Nonclassical states of macroscopic objects are promising for ultrasensitive metrology as well as testing quantum mechanics. In this work, we investigate dissipative mechanical quantum state engineering in an optically levitated nanodiamond. First, we study single-mode mechanical squeezed states by magnetically coupling the mechanical motion to a dressed three-level system provided by a Nitrogen-vacancy center in the nanoparticle. Quantum coherence between the dressed levels is created via microwave fields to induce a two-phonon transition, which results in mechanical squeezing. Remarkably, we …
Nonadiabatic geometric quantum computation provides a means to perform fast and robust quantum gates. It has been implemented in various physical systems, such as trapped ions, nuclear magnetic resonance and superconducting circuits. Another system being adequate for implementation of nonadiabatic geometric quantum computation may be Rydberg atoms, since their internal states have very long coherence time and the Rydberg-mediated interaction facilitates the implementation of a two-qubit gate. Here, we propose a scheme of nonadiabatic geometric quantum computation based on Rydberg atoms, which …
Pulse propagation is studied in an EIT medium with the control field having a periodically varying phase (chirp). Based both on numerical calculations and on an approximate approach neglecting absorption and nonadiabatic effects, it is shown that transparency occurs for probe pulses having a sufficiently narrow envelope and an appropriately suited chirp. For other chirped pulses the evolution of their spectra along a sample is studied. Using a projection method one can divide a pulse into a part for which the medium is transparent and a rest for which it is opaque.

Geometric phases are only dependent on evolution paths but independent of evolution details so that they own some intrinsic noise-resilience features. Based on different geometric phases, various quantum gates have been proposed, such as nonadiabatic geometric gates based on nonadiabatic Abelian geometric phases and nonadiabatic holonomic gates based on nonadiabatic non-Abelian geometric phases. Up to now, nonadiabatic holonomic one-qubit gates have been experimentally demonstrated with the supercondunting transmon, where three lowest levels with cascaded configuration are all applied in the o…
Nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation in decoherence-free subspaces has attracted increasing attention recently, as it allows for high-speed implementation and combines both the robustness of holonomic gates and the coherence stabilization of decoherence-free subspaces. Since the first protocol of nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation in decoherence-free subspaces, a number of schemes for its physical implementation have been put forward. However, all previous schemes require two noncommuting gates to realize an arbitrary one-qubit gate, which doubles the exposure time of gates to er…
Nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation has received increasing attention due to its robustness against control errors as well as high-speed realization. Several schemes of its implementation have been put forward based on various physical systems, each of which has some particular merits. In this paper, we put forward an alternative scheme of nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation, in which a universal set of quantum gates is realized based on Rydberg superatoms. A Rydberg superatom is a mesoscopic atomic ensemble that allows for only a single Rydberg excitation shared by many atoms wi…
We demonstrate the use of shortcuts to adiabaticity protocols for initialisation, readout, and coherent control of dressed states generated by closed-contour, coherent driving of a single spin. Such dressed states have recently been shown to exhibit efficient coherence protection, beyond what their two-level counterparts can offer. Our state transfer protocols yield a transfer fidelity of ~ 99.4(2) % while accelerating the transfer speed by a factor of 2.6 compared to the adiabatic approach. We show bi-directionality of the accelerated state transfer, which we employ for direct dressed state p…
The key for realizing fault-tolerant quantum computation lies in maintaining the coherence of all qubits so that high-fidelity and robust quantum manipulations on them can be achieved. One of the promising approaches is to use geometric phases in the construction of universal quantum gates, due to their intrinsic robustness against certain types of local noises. However, due to limitations in previous implementations, the noise-resilience feature of nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation (NHQC) still needs to be improved. Here, combining with the dynamical correction technique, we propose …
With the long coherence time, the fixed-frequency transmon qubit is a promising qubit modality for quantum computing. Currently, diverse qubit architectures that utilize fixed-frequency transmon qubits have been demonstrated with high-fidelity gate performance. Nevertheless, the relaxation times of transmon qubits can have large temporal fluctuations, causing instabilities in gate performance. The fluctuations are often believed to be caused by nearly on-resonance couplings with sparse two-level-system (TLS) defects. To mitigate their impact on qubit coherence and gate performance, one direct …
Streaking of photoelectrons has long been used for the temporal characterization of attosecond extreme ultraviolet pulses. When the time-resolved photoelectrons originate from a coherent superposition of electronic states, they carry an additional phase information, which can be retrieved by the streaking technique. In this contribution we extend the streaking formalism to include coupled electron and nuclear dynamics in molecules as well as initial coherences and demonstrate how it offers a novel tool to monitor non-adiabatic dynamics as it occurs in the vicinity of conical intersections and …
Coherent dressing of a quantum two-level system provides access to a new quantum system with improved properties - a different and easily tuneable level splitting, faster control, and longer coherence times. In our work we investigate the properties of the dressed, donor-bound electron spin in silicon, and probe its potential for the use as quantum bit in scalable architectures. The two dressed spin-polariton levels constitute a quantum bit that can be coherently driven with an oscillating magnetic field, an oscillating electric field, by frequency modulating the driving field, or by a simple …
Experimental and theoretical evidence point out to the crucial role of specific resonant intramolecular vibrational modes in the interpretation of long-lived coherences observed in two-dimensional spectra of some natural and synthetic light harvesting complexes. For the natural situation of illumination by incoherent (sun)light, the relevance of these vibrations is analyzed here for light-harvesting vibronic prototype dimers. The detailed analysis of the density matrix dynamics reveals that the inclusion of the intramolecular vibrational modes reinforce up to one order of magnitude the exciton…
High-fidelity qubit initialization is of significance for efficient error correction in fault tolerant quantum algorithms. Combining two best worlds, speed and robustness, to achieve high-fidelity state preparation and manipulation is challenging in quantum systems, where qubits are closely spaced in frequency. Motivated by the concept of shortcut to adiabaticity, we theoretically propose the shortcut pulses via inverse engineering and further optimize the pulses with respect to systematic errors in frequency detuning and Rabi frequency. Such protocol, relevant to frequency selectivity, is app…
The squeezing spectrum of the fluorescence field emitted from a four-level atom in $J=1/2$ to $J=1/2$ configuration driven by two coherent fields is studied. We find that the squeezing properties of the fluorescence radiation are significantly influenced by the presence of vacuum-induced coherence in the atomic system. It is shown that such coherence induces spectral squeezing in phase quadratures of the fluorescence light for both weak and strong driving fields. The dependence of the squeezing spectrum on the relative phase of the driving fields is also investigated. Effects such as enhanceme…

The resonance fluorescence of a four-level atom in J = 1/2 to J = 1/2 transition driven by two coherent fields is studied. We find that the incoherent fluorescence spectrum shows a direct indication of vacuum-induced coherence in the atomic system. We show that such coherence manifests itself via an enhancement or suppression of the spectral peaks in the $π$-polarized fluorescence. The effect of the relative phase of the driving fields on the spectral features is also investigated. We show that phase-dependent enhancement or suppression of the fluorescence peaks appears in the incoherent spect…
Controlling quantum entanglement between parts of a many-body system is the key to unlocking the power of quantum information processing for applications such as quantum computation, high-precision sensing, and simulation of many-body physics. Spin degrees of freedom of ultracold neutral atoms in their ground electronic state provide a natural platform given their long coherence times and our ability to control them with magneto-optical fields, but creating strong coherent coupling between spins has been challenging. We demonstrate a Rydberg-dressed ground-state blockade that provides a strong…
Spin qubits are contenders for scalable quantum computation because of their long coherence times demonstrated in a variety of materials, but individual control by frequency-selective addressing using pulsed spin resonance creates severe technical challenges for scaling up to many qubits. This individual resonance control strategy requires each spin to have a distinguishable frequency, imposing a maximum number of spins that can be individually driven before qubit crosstalk becomes unavoidable. Here we describe a complete strategy for controlling a large array of spins in quantum dots dressed …
We study the parametric interaction between a single Nitrogen-Vacancy electronic spin and a diamond mechanical resonator in which the spin is embedded. Coupling between spin and oscillator is achieved by crystal strain, which is generated upon actuation of the oscillator and which parametrically modulates the spins' energy splitting. Under coherent microwave driving of the spin, this parametric drive leads to a locking of the spin Rabi frequency to the oscillator mode in the megahertz range. Both the Rabi oscillation decay time and the inhomogeneous spin dephasing time increase by two orders o…

We discuss phonon-induced non-Markovian and Markovian features in QD-based optics. We cover lineshapes in linear absorption experiments, phonon-induced incoherence in the Heitler regime, and memory correlations in two-photon coherences. To quantitatively and qualitatively understand the underlying physics, we present several theoretical models which model the non-Markovian properties of the electron-phonon interaction accurately in different regimes. Examples are the Heisenberg equation of motion approach, the polaron master equation, and Liouville-propagator techniques in the independent boso…
