The purpose of this study is to utilize the Chebyshev spectral method neural network(CSNN) model to solve differential equations. This approach employs a single-layer neural network wherein Chebyshev spectral methods are used to construct neurons satisfying boundary conditions. The study uses a feedforward neural network model and error backpropagation principles, utilizing automatic differentiation (AD) to compute the loss function. This method avoids the need to solve non-sparse linear systems, making it convenient for algorithm implementation and solving high-dimensional problems. The unique sampling method and neuron architecture significantly enhance the training efficiency and accuracy of the neural network. Furthermore, multiple networks enables the Chebyshev spectral method to handle equations on more complex domains. The numerical efficiency and accuracy of the CSNN model are investigated through testing on elliptic partial differential equations, and it is compared with the well-known Physics-Informed Neural Network(PINN) method.

We present a novel method for using Neural Networks (NNs) for finding solutions to a class of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs). Our method builds on recent advances in Neural Radiance Field research (NeRFs) and allows for a NN to converge to a PDE solution much faster than classic Physically Informed Neural Network (PINNs) approaches.

In this paper, the boundary element method is combined with Chebyshev operational matrix technique to solve two-dimensional multi-order time-fractional partial differential equations; nonlinear and linear in respect to spatial and temporal variables, respectively. Fractional derivatives are estimated by Caputo sense. Boundary element method is used to convert the main problem into a system of a multi-order fractional ordinary differential equation. Then, the produced system is approximated by Chebyshev operational matrix technique, ans its condition number is analyzed. Accuracy and efficiency …
Recently, the efficient numerical solution of Hamiltonian problems has been tackled by defining the class of energy-conserving Runge-Kutta methods named Hamiltonian Boundary Value Methods (HBVMs). Their derivation relies on the expansion of the vector field along the Legendre orthonormal basis. Interestingly, this approach can be extended to cope with other orthonormal bases and, in particular, we here consider the case of the Chebyshev polynomial basis. The corresponding Runge-Kutta methods were previously obtained by Costabile and Napoli [33]. In this paper, the use of a different framework …
It is needed to solve generalized eigenvalue problems (GEP) in many applications, such as the numerical simulation of vibration analysis, quantum mechanics, electronic structure, etc. The subspace iteration is a kind of widely used algorithm to solve eigenvalue problems. To solve the generalized eigenvalue problem, one kind of subspace iteration method, Chebyshev-Davidson algorithm, is proposed recently. In Chebyshev-Davidson algorithm, the Chebyshev polynomial filter technique is incorporated in the subspace iteration. In this paper, based on Chebyshev-Davidson algorithm, a new subspace itera…
We discuss two approaches to solving the parametric (or stochastic) eigenvalue problem. One of them uses a Taylor expansion and the other a Chebyshev expansion. The parametric eigenvalue problem assumes that the matrix $A$ depends on a parameter $μ$, where $μ$ might be a random variable. Consequently, the eigenvalues and eigenvectors are also functions of $μ$. We compute a Taylor approximation of these functions about $μ_{0}$ by iteratively computing the Taylor coefficients. The complexity of this approach is $O(n^{3})$ for all eigenpairs, if the derivatives of $A(μ)$ at $μ_{0}$ are given. The…
This paper is focused on performing a new method for solving linear and nonlinear higher-order boundary value problems (HBVPs). This direct numerical method based on spectral method. The trial function of this method is the Monic Chebyshev polynomials (MCPs). This method was relying on derivative of MCPs which explicit in the series expansion. The advantage of this method is solved HBVPs without transforming it to a system of lower-order ordinary differential equations (ODEs). This method supported by examples of HBVPs in wide application. The mentioned examples showed that the proposed method…
In this paper, we propose a fast spectral-Galerkin method for solving PDEs involving integral fractional Laplacian in $\mathbb{R}^d$, which is built upon two essential components: (i) the Dunford-Taylor formulation of the fractional Laplacian; and (ii) Fourier-like bi-orthogonal mapped Chebyshev functions (MCFs) as basis functions. As a result, the fractional Laplacian can be fully diagonalised, and the complexity of solving an elliptic fractional PDE is quasi-optimal, i.e., $O((N\log_2N)^d)$ with $N$ being the number of modes in each spatial direction. Ample numerical tests for various decayi…
Solving an acoustic wave equation using a parabolic approximation is a popular approach for many existing ocean acoustic models. Commonly used parabolic equation (PE) model programs, such as the range-dependent acoustic model (RAM), are discretized by the finite difference method (FDM). Considering the idea and theory of the wide-angle rational approximation, a discrete PE model using the Chebyshev spectral method (CSM) is derived, and the code is developed. This method is currently suitable only for range-independent waveguides. Taking three ideal fluid waveguides as examples, the correctness…
This paper introduces a new method for discretizing and solving integral equation formulations of Maxwell's equations which achieves spectral accuracy for smooth surfaces. The approach is based on a hybrid Nyström-collocation method using Chebyshev polynomials to expand the unknown current densities over curvilinear quadrilateral surface patches. As an example, the proposed strategy is applied the to Magnetic Field Integral Equation (MFIE) and the N-Müller formulation for scattering from metallic and dielectric objects, respectively. The convergence is studied for several different geometries,…
Peridynamics is a nonlocal generalization of continuum mechanics theory which adresses discontinuous problems without using partial derivatives and replacing its by an integral operator. As a consequence, it finds applications in the framework of the development and evolution of fractures and damages in elastic materials. In this paper we consider a one-dimensional nonlinear model of peridynamics and propose a suitable two-dimensional fast-convolution spectral method based on Chebyshev polynomials to solve the model. This choice allows us to gain the same accuracy both in space and time. We sh…
The normal mode model is one of the most popular approaches for solving underwater sound propagation problems. Among other methods, the finite difference method is widely used in classic normal mode programs. In many recent studies, the spectral method has been used for discretization. It is generally more accurate than the finite difference method. However, the spectral method requires that the variables to be solved are continuous in space, and the traditional spectral method is powerless for a layered marine environment. A Chebyshev-Tau spectral method based on domain decomposition is appli…
We solve by Chebyshev spectral collocation some genuinely nonlinear Liouville-Bratu-Gelfand type, 1D and a 2D boundary value problems. The problems are formulated on the square domain $[-1, 1]\times[-1, 1]$ and the boundary condition attached is a homogeneous Dirichlet one. We pay a particular attention to the bifurcation branch on which a solution is searched and try to estimate empirically the attraction basin for each bifurcation variety. The first eigenvector approximating the corresponding the first eigenfunction of the linear problem is used as an initial guess in solving the non-linear …
In this paper we introduce a new approach to compute rigorously solutions of Cauchy problems for a class of semi-linear parabolic partial differential equations. Expanding solutions with Chebyshev series in time and Fourier series in space, we introduce a zero finding problem $F(a)=0$ on a Banach algebra $X$ of Fourier-Chebyshev sequences, whose solution solves the Cauchy problem. The challenge lies in the fact that the linear part $\mathcal{L} = DF(0)$ has an infinite block diagonal structure with blocks becoming less and less diagonal dominant at infinity. We introduce analytic estimates to …
We study the elastic time-harmonic wave scattering problems on unbounded domains with boundaries composed of finite collections of disjoints finite open arcs (or cracks) in two dimensions. Specifically, we present a fast spectral Galerkin method for solving the associated weakly- and hyper-singular boundary integral equations (BIEs) arising from Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions, respectively. Discretization bases of the resulting BIEs employ weighted Chebyshev polynomials that capture the solutions' edge behavior. We show that these bases guarantee exponential convergence in the polyn…
In this study, an implicit-explicit local differential transform method (IELDTM) based on Taylor series representations is produced for solving 2D and 3D advection-diffusion equations. The parabolic advection-diffusion equations are reduced to the nonhomogeneous elliptic system of partial differential equations with the utilization of the Chebyshev spectral collocation approach in temporal variable. The IELDTM is constructed over 2D and 3D meshes using continuity equations of the neighbour representations with either explicit or implicit forms in related directions. The IELDTM is proven to hav…
This research deals with the numerical solution of non-linear fractional differential equations with delay using the method of steps and shifted Legendre (Chebyshev) collocation method. This article aims to present a new formula for the fractional derivatives (in the Caputo sense) of shifted Legendre polynomials. With the help of this tool and previous work of the authors, efficient numerical schemes for solving nonlinear continuous fractional delay differential equations are proposed. The proposed schemes transform the nonlinear fractional delay differential equations to a non-delay one by em…
In order to solve Prandtl-type equations we propose a collocation-quadrature method based on VP filtered interpolation at Chebyshev nodes. Uniform convergence and stability are proved in a couple of Holder - Zygmund spaces of locally continuous functions. With respect to classical methods based on Lagrange interpolation at the same collocation nodes, we succeed in reproducing the optimal convergence rates of the L2 case by cutting off the typical log factor which seemed inevitable dealing with uniform norms. Such an improvement does not require a greater computational effort. In particular we …
In this paper, we propose a tensor type of discretization and optimization process for solving high dimensional partial differential equations. First, we design the tensor type of trial function for the high dimensional partial differential equations. Based on the tensor structure of the trial functions, we can do the direct numerical integration of the approximate solution without the help of Monte-Carlo method. Then combined with the Ritz or Galerkin method, solving the high dimensional partial differential equation can be transformed to solve a concerned optimization problem. Some numerical…

A new penalty-free neural network method, PFNN-2, is presented for solving partial differential equations, which is a subsequent improvement of our previously proposed PFNN method [1]. PFNN-2 inherits all advantages of PFNN in handling the smoothness constraints and essential boundary conditions of self-adjoint problems with complex geometries, and extends the application to a broader range of non-self-adjoint time-dependent differential equations. In addition, PFNN-2 introduces an overlapping domain decomposition strategy to substantially improve the training efficiency without sacrificing ac…
This paper presents a novel semi-analytical collocation method to solve multi-term variable-order time fractional partial differential equations (VOTFPDEs). In the proposed method it employs the Fourier series expansion for spatial discretization, which transforms the original multi-term VOTFPDEs into a sequence of multi-term variable-order time fractional ordinary differential equations (VOTFODEs). Then these VOTFODEs can be solved by using the recent-developed backward substitution method. Several numerical examples verify the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed numerical approach in the…
