The Steinberg tensor product theorem is a fundamental result in the modular representation theory of reductive algebraic groups. It describes any finite-dimensional simple module of highest weight $λ$ over such a group as the tensor product of Frobenius twists of simple modules with highest weights the weights appearing in a $p$-adic decomposition of $λ$, thereby reducing the character problem to a a finite collection of weights. In recent years this theorem has been extended to various quasi-reductive supergroup schemes. In this paper, we prove the analogous result for the general linear group scheme $GL(X)$ for any object $X$ in the Verlinde category $\mathrm{Ver}_p$.
We give a description of simple functors taking finitely generated values, from a small additive category to the category of vector spaces over a field. This result is analogous to Steinberg's tensor product theorems in group representation theory. Our results rest on the notion of polynomial functor introduced by Eilenberg and Mac Lane. We give applications to representations of general linear groups or to finiteness properties of functor categories.
In this article, we construct affine group schemes $GL(X)$ where $X$ is any object in the Verlinde category in characteristic $p$ and classify their irreducible representations. We begin by showing that for a simple object $X$ of categorical dimension $i$, this representation category is semisimple and is equivalent to the connected component of the Verlinde category for $SL_{i}$. Subsequently, we use this along with a Verma module construction to classify irreducible representations of $GL(nL)$ for any simple object $L$ and any natural number $n$. Finally, parabolic induction allows us to cla…
In this article, we prove that the category of affine group schemes of finite type in the Verlinde category is equivalent to the category of Harish-Chandra pairs in the Verlinde category. Subsequently, we extend this equivalence to an equivalence between corresponding representation categories and then study some consequences of this equivalence to the representation theory of $GL(L)$, with $L$ a simple object in the Verlinde category.
Let F be a local non-archimedean field and let G be the group of F-valued points of a reductive algebraic group over F. In this paper we compute the Ext-groups of generalized Steinberg representations in the category of smooth G-representations with coefficients in a certain self-injective ring.
Let G be a reductive algebraic group over a field of positive characteristic and denote by C(G) the category of rational G-modules. In this note we investigate the subcategory of C(G) consisting of those modules whose composition factors all have highest weights linked to the Steinberg weight. This subcategory is denoted ST and called the Steinberg component. We give an explicit equivalence between ST and C(G) and we derive some consequences. In particular, our result allows us to relate the Frobenius contracting functor to the projection functor from C(G) onto ST .
In this paper, we conjecture an extension of the Hilbert basis theorem and the finite generation of invariants to commutative algebras in symmetric finite tensor categories over fields of positive characteristic. We prove the conjecture in the case of semisimple categories and more generally in the case of categories with fiber functors to the characteristic $p > 0$ Verlinde category of $SL_{2}$. We also construct a symmetric finite tensor category $\sVec_{2}$ over fields of characteristic $2$ and show that it is a candidate for the category of supervector spaces in this characteristic. We fur…
This note extends the Steinberg Tensor product theorem from the Frobenius kernel $G_{(r)}$ to the deformation $\mathcal{U}^{[r]}(\mathfrak{g})$ of its distribution algebra. As a Corollary we proof some conjectures from \cite{Wes}. Further it describes the graded representation theory of $\mathcal{U}^{[r]}(\mathfrak{g})$ at a generic semisimple p-central character as a twist of the category of graded $G_{(r-1)}$-modules. We conclude by explaining this relation for $SL_2$ explicitely as well as computing the center in this case.
Using tensor categories, we present new constructions of several of the exceptional simple Lie superalgebras with integer Cartan matrix in characteristic $p = 3$ and $p = 5$ from the complete classification of modular Lie superalgebras with indecomposable Cartan matrix and their simple subquotients over algebraically closed fields by Bouarroudj, Grozman, and Leites in 2009. Specifically, let $\mathbfα_p$ denote the kernel of the Frobenius endomorphism on the additive group scheme $\mathbb{G}_a$ over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p$. The Verlinde category $\mathrm{Ver}_p$ is …
We develop the theory of semisimplifications of tensor categories defined by Barrett and Westbury. In particular, we compute the semisimplification of the category of representations of a finite group in characteristic $p$ in terms of representations of the normnalizer of its Sylow $p$-subgroup. This allows us to compute the semisimplification of the representation category of the symmetric group $S_{n+p}$ in characteristic $p$, where $0\le n\le p-1$, and of the Deligne category $\underline{\rm Rep}^{\rm ab}S_t$, where $t\in \Bbb N$. We also compute the semisimplification of the category of re…
For a Dynkin quiver $Q$ (of type ADE), we consider a central completion of the convolution algebra of the equivariant K-group of a certain Steinberg type graded quiver variety. We observe that it is affine quasi-hereditary and prove that its category of finite-dimensional modules is identified with a block of Hernandez-Leclerc's monoidal category $\mathcal{C}_Q$ of modules over the quantum loop algebra $U_q(L\mathfrak{g})$ via Nakajima's homomorphism. As an application, we show that Kang-Kashiwara-Kim's generalized quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality functor gives an equivalence between the cate…
Modular functors, i.e. consistent systems of projective representations of mapping class groups of surfaces, have been constructed for non-semisimple modular categories already decades ago. Concepts from homological algebra have not been used in this construction although it is an obvious question how they should enter in the non-semisimple case. In the present paper, we elucidate the interplay between the structures from topological field theory and from homological algebra by constructing a homotopy coherent projective action of the mapping class group $\text{SL}(2,\mathbb{Z})$ of the torus …

Inspired by the quantum McKay correspondence, we consider the classical $ADE$ Lie theory as a quantum theory over $\mathfrak{sl}_2$. We introduce anti-symmetric characters for representations of quantum groups and investigate the Fourier duality to study the spectral theory. In the $ADE$ Lie theory, there is a correspondence between the eigenvalues of the Coxeter element and the eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix. We formalize related notions and prove such a correspondence for representations of Verlinde algebras of quantum groups: this includes the quiver of any module category acted on by …
A fundamental theorem of P. Deligne (2002) states that a pre-Tannakian category over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero admits a fiber functor to the category of supervector spaces (i.e., is the representation category of an affine proalgebraic supergroup) if and only if it has moderate growth (i.e., the lengths of tensor powers of an object grow at most exponentially). In this paper we prove a characteristic p version of this theorem. Namely we show that a pre-Tannakian category over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p>0 admits a fiber functor into the Verlinde…
Let $W$ be the Weyl group of a split semisimple group $G$. Its Hecke category $\mathsf{H}_W$ can be built from pure perverse sheaves on the double flag variety of $G$. By developing a formalism of generalized realization functors, we construct a monoidal trace from $\mathsf{H}_W$ to a category of bigraded modules over a certain graded ring: namely, the endomorphisms of the equivariant Springer sheaf over the unipotent locus of $G$. We prove that: (1) On objects attached to positive braids $β$, the output is the weight-graded, equivariant Borel-Moore homology of a generalized Steinberg scheme $…
The abelian and monoidal structure of the category of smooth weight modules over a non-integrable affine vertex algebra of rank greater than one is an interesting, difficult and essentially wide open problem. Even conjectures are lacking. This work details and tests such a conjecture for $L_{-\frac{3}{2}}(\mathfrak{sl}_3)$ via a logarithmic Kazhdan-Lusztig correspondence. We first investigate the representation theory of $\overline{U}^H_i(\mathfrak{sl}_3)$, the unrolled restricted quantum group of $\mathfrak{sl}_3$ at fourth root of unity. In particular, we analyse its finite-dimensional weigh…
