We discuss Iitaka's theory of quasi-Albanese maps in details. We also give a detailed proof of Kawamata's theorem on the quasi-Albanese maps for varieties of the logarithmic Kodaira dimension zero. Note that Iitaka's theory is an application of Deligne's mixed Hodge theory for smooth algebraic varieties.
We show that if X is a nonsingular projective variety of general type over an algebraically closed field k of positive characteristic and X has maximal Albanese dimension and the Albanese map is separable, then |4K_X| induces a birational map.
In this paper, we prove abundance for non-uniruled 3-folds with non-trivial Albanese maps, over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p > 5$. As an application we get a characterization of abelian 3-folds.
In the present paper, we study the (twisted) 3-canonical map of varieties of Albanese fiber dimension one. Based on a theorem about the regularity of direct image of canonical sheaves, we prove that the 3-canonical map is generically birational when the genus of a general fiber of the Albanese map is 2.
In this paper we prove that for any smooth projective variety of Albanese fiber dimension two and of general type, the 6-canonical map is birational. And we also show that the 5-canonical map is birational for any such variety with some geometric restrictions.
Let k be an algebraically closed field and X a smooth projective k-variety. A famous theorem of A. A. Roitman states that the canonical map from the degree zero part of the Chow group of zero cycles on X to the group of k-points of its Albanese variety induces an isomorphism on torsion prime to the characteristic of k. In the present paper we prove a generalisation to quasi-projective varieties admitting a smooth compactification. As was first observed by Ramachandran, for such a generalisation one should replace the Chow group of zero cycles by Suslin's 0-th algebraic singular homology group …
In a joint work [9] with Kazuya Kato and Chikara Nakayama, log higher Albanese manifolds was constructed as an application of log mixed Hodge theory with group action. In this framework, we describe a work of Deligne in [3] on some nilpotent quotients of the fundamental group of the projective line minus three points, where polylogarithms appear. As a result, we have $q$-expansions of higher Albanese maps at boundary points, i.e., log higher Albanese maps over the boundary.
Let $X$ be a projective manifold such that the anticanonical bundle $-K_X$ is nef. We prove that the Albanese map $p: X \rightarrow Y$ is locally isotrivial. In particular, $p$ is a submersion.
Let $X$ be a smooth complex projective algebraic variety of maximal Albanese dimension. We give a characterization of $κ(X)$ in terms of the set $V^0(X,ω_{X})$ $:=\{P\in {\text{\rm Pic}}^0(X)|h^0(X, ω_X \otimes P) \ne 0\}$. An immediate consequence of this is that the Kodaira dimension $κ(X)$ is invariant under smooth deformations. We then study the pluricanonical maps $ϕ_m:X -> \Bbb{P} (H^0(X,mK_X))$. We prove that if $X$ is of general type, $ϕ_m$ is generically finite for $m\geq 5$ and birational for $m\geq 5 \text{\rm dim} (X) +1$. More generally, we show that for $m\geq 6$ the image of $ϕ_…
We study and obtain Slope inequalities for fibred irregular varieties of non-maximal Albanese dimension. We give a comparison theorem between Clifford-Severi and Slope inequalities for this type of fibrations. We also obtain a set of Slope inequalities considering the geometry of the Albanese map and the associated eventual maps.
We investigate properties of the Albanese map and the fundamental group of a complex projective variety with many rational points over some function field, and prove that every linear quotient of the fundamental group of such a variety is virtually abelian, as well as that its Albanese map is surjective, has connected fibres, and has no multiple fibres in codimension one.
In this thesis we looked into three different problems which share, as a common factor, the exstensive use of the Fourier--Mukai transform as research tool. In the first Part we investigated the syzygies of Kummer varieties (i.e. quotients of abelian varieties by the $\mathbb{Z}/2\Z$-action induced by the group operation), extending to higher syzygies results on projective normality and degree of equations of Sasaki, Kempf, and Khaled. The second Part of this Thesis (partially written in collaboration with Z.Jiang and M. Lahoz) is dedicated to the study of pluricanonical linear systems on vari…
Let $X$ be a smooth projective variety of Albanese fiber dimension 1 and of general type. We prove that the translates through 0 of all components of $V^0(ω_X)$ generate $\Pic^0(X)$. We then study the pluricanonical maps of $X$. We show that $|4K_X|$ induces a birational map.
Let V be a smooth quasi-projective complex surface such that the three first logarithmic plurigenera are equal to 1 and the logarithmic irregularity is equal to 2. We prove that the quasi-Albanese morphism of V is birational and there exists a finite set S such that the quasi-Albanese map is proper over the complement of S in the quasi-Albanese variety A(V) of V. This is a sharp effective version of a classical result of Iitaka.
We consider categories of rational maps to algebraic groups and study existence and construction of universal objects for such categories, using the duality theory of Laumon 1-motives. In particular, we obtain functorial descriptions of the Albanese of a singular projective variety X over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, which is the universal regular quotient of a relative Chow group of points on X, and of its dual.
Let $X$ be a compact complex manifold with trivial canonical bundle and satisfying the $\partial\bar{\partial}$-Lemma. We show that the Kuranishi space of $X$ is a smooth universal deformation and that small deformations enjoy the same properties as $X$. If, in addition, $X$ admits a complex symplectic form, then the local Torelli theorem holds and we obtain some information about the period map. We clarify the structure of such manifolds a little by showing that the Albanese map is a surjective submersion.
In this note we studied the primitive varieties of general type with $q(X) = dim(X)$ and non-birational bicanonical maps. Let $X$ be such a variety. We bounded the degree of its bicanonical map. If moreover the Albanese variety $Alb(X)$ is simple, we proved that the Euler number $χ(ω_X) = 1$, and $|2K_X|$ separates the points mapped to the same general point via the Albanese map.
We describe algebraically defined cohomological and homological Albanese and Picard 1-motives (or mixed motives) of any algebraic variety in characteristic zero, generalizing the classical Albanese and Picard varieties. We compute Hodge, l-adic and De Rham realizations proving Deligne's conjecture for the concerned mixed Hodge structures. We investigate functoriality, universality, homotopical invariance and invariance under formation of projective bundles. We compare our cohomological and homological 1-motives for normal schemes. For proper schemes, we obtain an Abel-Jacobi map from the (Levi…
We discuss $p$-adic unipotent Albanese maps for curves of positive genus, extending the theory of $p$-adic multiple polylogarithms. This construction is then used to relate linear Diophantine conjectures of `Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer type' to non-linear theorems of Faltings-Siegel type.
Let $X$ be a compact Kähler space with klt singularities and vanishing first Chern class. We prove the Bochner principle for holomorphic tensors on the smooth locus of $X$: any such tensor is parallel with respect to the singular Ricci-flat metrics. As a consequence, after a finite quasi-étale cover $X$ splits off a complex torus of the maximum possible dimension. We then proceed to decompose the tangent sheaf of $X$ according to its holonomy representation. In particular, we classify those $X$ which have strongly stable tangent sheaf: up to quasi-étale covers, these are either irreducible Cal…
We prove a structure theorem for the Albanese maps of varieties with Q-linearly trivial log canonical divisors. Our start point is the action of a nonlinear algebraic group on a projective variety.
From the point of view of uniform bounds for the birationality of pluricanonical maps, irregular varieties of general type and maximal Albanese dimension behave similarly to curves. In fact Chen-Hacon showed that, at least when their holomorphic Euler characteristic is positive, the tricanonical map of such varieties is always birational. In this paper we study the bicanonical map. We consider the natural subclass of varieties of maximal Albanese dimension formed by primitive varieties of Albanese general type. We prove that the only such varieties with non-birational bicanonical map are the n…
We use Galois closures of finite rational maps between complex projective varieties to introduce a new method for producing varieties such that the holomorphic part of the cup product map has non-trivial kernel. We then apply our result to the two-dimensional case and we construct a new family of surfaces which are Lagrangian in their Albanese variety. Moreover, we analyze these surfaces computing their Chern invariants, and proving that they are not fibred over curves of genus greater than one.
Let $alb_X: X \rightarrow A$ be the Albanese map of a smooth projective variety and $f: X \rightarrow Y$ the fibration from the Stein factorization of $alb_X$. For a positive integer $m$, if $f$ and $m$ satisfy the assumptions AS(1,2), then the translates through the origin of all components of cohomological locus $V^0(ω_X^m, alb_X)$ generates $I^*Pic^0(S)$ where $I: X \rightarrow S$ denotes the Iitaka fibration. This result applies to studying pluricanonical maps. We also considered the problem about whether a fibration is isotrivial and isogenous to a product.
We generalize the results of Chang-Li, Kim-Oh and Chang-Li on the moduli of $p$-fields to the setting of (quasi-)maps to complete intersections in arbitrary smooth Deligne-Mumford stacks with projective coarse moduli. In particular, we show that the virtual cycle of stable (quasi-)maps to a complete intersection can be recovered by the cosection localized virtual cycle of the moduli of $p$-fields of the ambient space.
In this paper, we present explicit toric construction of moduli space of quasi maps from $\mathbb{P}^1$ with two marked points to $\mathbb{P}^1 \times \mathbb{P}^1$, which was first proposed by Jinzenji and prove that it is a compact orbifold. We also determine its Chow ring and compute its Poincaré polynomial for some lower degree cases.
By exploring the consequences of the triviality of the monodromy group for a class of surfaces of which the mixed Hodge structure is pure, we extend results of Miyanishi and Sugie, Dimca, Zaidenberg and Kaliman.
We consider the problem of deciding if a group is the fundamental group of a smooth connected complex quasi-projective (or projective) variety using Alexander-based invariants. In particular, we solve the problem for large families of Artin-Tits groups. We also study finiteness properties of such groups and exhibit examples of hyperplane complements whose fundamental groups satisfy $\text{F}_{k-1}$ but not $\text{F}_k$ for any $k$.
The Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence claims that the Gromov-Witten invariant of the quintic Calabi-Yau 3-fold should be related to the Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten invariant of the associated Landau-Ginzburg model via wall crossings. In this paper, we consider the stack of quasi-maps with a cosection and introduce sequences of stability conditions which enable us to interpolate between the moduli stack for Gromov-Witten invariants and the moduli stack for Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten invariants.
Given a projective variety X and a smooth projective curve C one may consider the moduli space of maps C --> X. This space admits certain compactification whose points are called quasi-maps. In the last decade it has been discovered that in the case when X is a (partial) flag variety of a semi-simple algebraic group G (or, more generally, of any symmetrizable Kac-Moody Lie algebra) these compactifications play an important role in such fields as geometric representation theory, geometric Langlands correspondence, geometry and topology of moduli spaces of G-bundles on algebraic surfaces, 4-dime…
