In this work, we investigate an extended model of holographic superconductor by a non-linear electrodynamic interaction coupled to a complex scalar field. This non-linear interaction term can make a quantum phase transition at zero temperature with finite charge carrier density. By solving full equations of motion, we can construct various shapes of the superconducting phase in the phase diagram. With a specific choice of interaction coefficients, we can construct a phase diagram with a superconducting dome. Also, we find a new geometric solution inside the superconducting dome, which turns out to be a Lifshitz-type geometry. This geometry is characterized by a dynamical critical exponent, which plays a crucial role near the quantum critical point. We refer to this region in the phase diagram as a `quantum critical region.'
We find a regime in which a strongly coupled striped superconductor features a superconducting dome. This regime is signified by i) a modulating chemical potential that averages to zero, and ii) a superconducting order parameter that has a scaling dimension larger than 3/2 but less than or equal to 3. We also find that in this regime, the order parameter exhibits a mild dependence on the modulation wavelength of the stripe.
These lectures review recent developments in our understanding of the emergence of local bulk physics in AdS/CFT. The primary topics are sufficient conditions for a conformal field theory to have a semiclassical dual, bulk reconstruction, the quantum error correction interpretation of the correspondence, tensor network models of holography, and the quantum Ryu-Takayanagi formula.
We study the holographic non-relativistic fermions in the presence of bulk dipole coupling in charged dilatonic black hole background. We explore the nontrivial effects of the bulk dipole coupling, the fermion charge as well as the dilaton field on the flat band, the Fermi surface and the emergence of the gap by investigating the spectral function of the non-relativistic fermion system. In particular, we find that the presence of the flat band in the non-relativistic case will suppress the Fermi momentum. Besides, we observe that the effect of the dipole coupling in the dilaton gravity is more…
Quantum many-body problem with exponentially large degrees of freedom can be reduced to a tractable computational form by neural network method \cite{CT}. The power of deep neural network (DNN) based on deep learning is clarified by mapping it to renormalization group (RG), which may shed lights on holographic principle by identifying a sequence of RG transformations to the AdS geometry. In this essay, we show that any network which reflects RG process has intrinsic hyperbolic geometry, and discuss the structure of entanglement encoded in the graph of DNN. We find the entanglement structure of…
The CP^N Kazama-Suzuki models with the non-linear chiral algebra SW_infinity[lambda] have been conjectured to be dual to the fully supersymmetric Prokushkin-Vasiliev theory of higher-spin gauge fields coupled to two massive N=2 multiplets on AdS_3. We perform a non-trivial check of this duality by computing three-point functions containing one higher-spin gauge field for arbitrary spin s and deformation parameter lambda from the bulk theory, and from the boundary using a free ghost system based on the linear sw_infinity[lambda] algebra. We find an exact match between the two computations. In t…
Purification is a powerful technique in quantum physics whereby a mixed quantum state is extended to a pure state on a larger system. This process is not unique, and in systems composed of many degrees of freedom, one natural purification is the one with minimal entanglement. Here we study the entropy of the minimally entangled purification, called the entanglement of purification, in three model systems: an Ising spin chain, conformal field theories holographically dual to Einstein gravity, and random stabilizer tensor networks. We conjecture values for the entanglement of purification in all…
In this paper, we propose a new approach to study the BPS dynamics in N=4 supersymmetric U(N) Yang-Mills theory on R X S^3, in order to better understand the emergence of gravity in the gauge theory. Our approach is based on supersymmetric, space-filling Q-balls with R-charge, which we call R-balls. The usual collective coordinate method for non-topological scalar solitons is applied to quantize the half and quarter BPS R-balls. In each case, a different quantization method is also applied to confirm the results from the collective coordinate quantization. For finite N, the half BPS R-balls wi…
In this work, we compute the entanglement entropy in continuous icMERA tensor networks for large $N$ models at strong coupling. Our results show that the $1/N$ quantum corrections to the Fisher information metric (interpreted as a local bond dimension of the tensor network) in an icMERA circuit, are related to quantum corrections to the minimal area surface in the Ryu-Takayanagi formula. Upon picking two different non-Gaussian entanglers to build the icMERA circuit, the results for the entanglement entropy only differ at subleading orders in $1/G_N$, i.e, at the structure of the quantum correc…
Black holes provide a window into the microscopic structure of spacetime in quantum gravity. Recently the quantum information contained in Hawking radiation has been calculated, verifying a key aspect of the consistency of black hole evaporation with quantum mechanical unitarity. This calculation relied crucially on recent progress in understanding the emergence of bulk spacetime from a boundary holographic description. Spacetime wormholes have played an important role in understanding the underpinnings of this result, and the precision study of such wormholes, in this and other contexts, has …
We further develop perturbative methods used to calculate entanglement entropy (EE) away from an interacting CFT fixed point. At second order we find certain universal terms in the renormalized EE which were predicted previously from holography and which we find hold universally for relevant deformations of any CFT in any dimension. We use both replica methods and direct methods to calculate the EE and in both cases find a non-local integral expression involving the CFT two point function. We show that this integral expression can be written as a local integral over a higher dimensional \emph{…
Motivated by the close relations of the renormalization group with both the holography duality and the deep learning, we propose that the holographic geometry can emerge from deep learning the entanglement feature of a quantum many-body state. We develop a concrete algorithm, call the entanglement feature learning (EFL), based on the random tensor network (RTN) model for the tensor network holography. We show that each RTN can be mapped to a Boltzmann machine, trained by the entanglement entropies over all subregions of a given quantum many-body state. The goal is to construct the optimal RTN …
The holographic principle suggests that the low energy effective field theory of gravity, as used to describe perturbative quantum fields about some background has far too many states. It is then natural that any quantum error correcting code with such a quantum field theory as the code subspace is not isometric. We discuss how this framework can naturally arise in an algebraic QFT treatment of a family of CFT with a large-$N$ limit described by the single trace sector. We show that an isometric code can be recovered in the $N \rightarrow \infty$ limit when acting on fixed states in the code H…
A quantum system with a black hole accommodates two widely different, though physically equivalent, descriptions. In one description, based on global spacetime of general relativity, the existence of the interior region is manifest, while understanding unitarity requires nonperturbative quantum gravity effects such as replica wormholes. The other description adopts a manifestly unitary, or holographic, description, in which the interior emerges effectively as a collective phenomenon of fundamental degrees of freedom. In this paper we study the latter approach, which we refer to as the unitary …
We use holography to study the spontaneous condensation of a neutral order parameter in a (2+1)-dimensional field theory at zero-temperature and finite density, dual to the electron star background of Hartnoll and Tavanfar. An appealing feature of this field theory is the emergence of an IR Lifshitz fixed-point with a finite dynamical critical exponent $z$, which is due to the strong interaction between critical bosonic degrees of freedom and a finite density of fermions (metallic quantum criticality). We show that under some circumstances the electron star background develops a neutral scalar…
