This paper provides a practical approach to stochastic Lie systems, i.e. stochastic differential equations whose general solutions can be written as a function depending only on a generic family of particular solutions and some constants related to initial conditions. We correct the stochastic Lie theorem characterising stochastic Lie systems, proving that, contrary to previous claims, it retains its classical form in the Stratonovich approach. Meanwhile, we show that the form of stochastic Lie systems may significantly differ from the classical one in the Itô formalism. New generalisations of stochastic Lie systems, like the so-called stochastic foliated Lie systems, are introduced. Subsequently, we focus on stochastic Lie systems that are Hamiltonian systems relative to different geometric structures. Special attention is paid to the symplectic case. We study their stability properties and lay the foundations of a stochastic energy-momentum method. A stochastic Poisson coalgebra method is developed to derive superposition rules for Hamiltonian stochastic Lie systems. Potential applications of our results are presented for biological stochastic models, stochastic oscillators, stochastic Lotka--Volterra systems, Palomba--Goodwin models, among others. Our findings complement previous approaches by using stochastic differential equations instead of deterministic equations designed to capture some of the features of models of stochastic nature.
We define and study a random Lie bracket that induces torsion in expectation. Almost all stochastic analysis on manifolds have assumed parallel transport. Mathematically this assumption is very reasonable. However, in many applied geometry and graphics problems parallel transport is not achieved, the "change in coordinates" are not exact due to noise. We formulate a stochastic model on a manifold for which parallel transport does not hold and analyze the consequences of this model with respect to classic quantities studied in Riemannian geometry. We first define a stochastic lie bracket that i…
We obtain stochastic duality functions for specific Markov processes using representation theory of Lie algebras. The duality functions come from the kernel of a unitary intertwiner between $*$-representations, which provides (generalized) orthogonality relations for the duality functions. In particular, we consider representations of the Heisenberg algebra and $\mathfrak{su}(1,1)$. Both cases lead to orthogonal (self-)duality functions in terms of hypergeometric functions for specific interacting particle processes and interacting diffusion processes.
In the present work we formally extend the theory of port-Hamiltonian systems to include random perturbations. In particular, suitably choosing the space of flow and effort variables we will show how several elements coming from possibly different physical domains can be interconnected in order to describe a dynamic system perturbed by general continuous semimartingale. Relevant enough, the noise does not enter into the system solely as an external random perturbation, since each port is itself intrinsically stochastic. Coherently to the classical deterministic setting, we will show how such a…
We present a definition of stochastic Hamiltonian process on finite graph via its corresponding density dynamics in Wasserstein manifold. We demonstrate the existence of stochastic Hamiltonian process in many classical discrete problems, such as the optimal transport problem, Schrödinger equation and Schrödinger bridge problem (SBP). The stationary and periodic properties of Hamiltonian processes are also investigated in the framework of SBP.
In this paper, we study the stochastic Hamiltonian flow in Wasserstein manifold, the probability density space equipped with $L^2$-Wasserstein metric tensor, via the Wong--Zakai approximation. We begin our investigation by showing that the stochastic Euler-Lagrange equation, regardless it is deduced from either variational principle or particle dynamics, can be interpreted as the stochastic kinetic Hamiltonian flows in Wasserstein manifold. We further propose a novel variational formulation to derive more general stochastic Wassersetin Hamiltonian flows, and demonstrate that this new formulati…
In this article, we study the Anderson Hamiltonian in the full space and prove wellposedness of nonlinear stochastic wave equation and NLS with polynomial nonlinearities.
The hypercontractivity is proved for the Markov semigroup associated to a class of finite/infinite dimensional stochastic Hamiltonian systems. Consequently, the Markov semigroup is exponentially convergent to the invariant probability measure in entropy (thus, also in $L^2$), and is compact for large time. Since the log-Sobolev inequality is invalid for the associated Dirichlet form, we introduce a general result on the hypercontractivity using the Harnack inequality with power. The main results are illustrated by concrete examples.
This work focuses on a class of stochastic damping Hamiltonian systems with state-dependent switching, where the switching process has a countably infinite state space. After establishing the existence and uniqueness of a global weak solution via the martingale approach under very mild conditions, the paper next proves the strong Feller property for regime-switching stochastic damping Hamiltonian systems by the killing technique together with some resolvent and transition probability identities. The commonly used continuity assumption for the switching rates $q_{kl}(\cdot)$ in the literature i…
The dimension free Harnack inequality is established for the distribution dependent stochastic Hamiltonian system, where the drift is Lipschitz continuous in the measure variable under the distance induced by the Hölder-Dini continuous functions, which are $β(β>\frac{2}{3})$-Hölder continuous on the degenerate component and square root of Dini continuous on the non-degenerate one. The results extend the existing ones in which the drift is Lipschitz continuous in the measure variable under $L^2$-Wasserstein distance.
We investigate the effective behaviour of a small transversal perturbation of order $ε$ to a completely integrable stochastic Hamiltonian system, by which we mean a stochastic differential equation whose diffusion vector fields are formed from a completely integrable family of Hamiltonian functions $H_i, i=1,\dots n$. An averaging principle is shown to hold and the action component of the solution converges, as $ε\to 0$, to the solution of a deterministic system of differential equations when the time is rescaled at $1/ε$. An estimate for the rate of the convergence is given. In the case when …
By Girsanov's thoerem and using the existing log-Harnack inequality for distribution independent SDEs, the log-Harnack inequality is derived for path-distribution dependent stochastic Hamiltonian systems. As an application, the exponential ergodicity in relative entropy is obtained by combining with transportation cost inequality. In addition, the quantitative propagation of chaos in the sense of Wasserstein distance, which together with the coupling by change of measure implies the quantitative propagation of chaos in total variation norm as well as relative entropy are obtained.
In this paper, we study the sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions of first-order Hamiltonian stochastic impulsive differential equations under Dirichlet boundary value conditions. By using the variational method, we first obtain the corresponding energy functional. And by using Legendre transformation, we obtain the conjugation of the functional. Then the existence of critical point is obtained by mountain pass lemma. Finally, we assert that the critical point of the energy functional is the mild solution of the first order Hamiltonian stochastic impulsive differential equation.…
We study stochastic Poisson integrators for a class of stochastic Poisson systems driven by Stratonovich noise. Such geometric integrators preserve Casimir functions and the Poisson map property. For this purpose, we propose explicit stochastic Poisson integrators based on a splitting strategy, and analyse their qualitative and quantitative properties: preservation of Casimir functions, existence of almost sure or moment bounds, asymptotic preserving property, and strong and weak rates of convergence. The construction of the schemes and the theoretical results are illustrated through extensive…
The present work address the problem of energy shaping for stochastic port-Hamiltonian system. Energy shaping is a powerful technique that allows to systematically find feedback law to shape the Hamiltonian of a controlled system so that, under a general passivity condition, it converges or tracks a desired configuration. Energy shaping has been recently generalized to consider stochastic port-Hamiltonian system. Nonetheless the resulting theory presents several limitation in the application so that relevant examples, such as the additive noise case, are immediately ruled out from the possible…
In this paper, a stochastic Hamiltonian formulation (SHF) is proposed and applied to dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) simulations. As an extension of Hamiltonian dynamics to stochastic dissipative systems, the SHF provides necessary foundations and great convenience for constructing efficient numerical integrators. As a first attempt, we develop the Störmer--Verlet type of schemes based on the SHF, which are structure-preserving for deterministic Hamiltonian systems without external forces, the dissipative forces in DPD. Long-time behaviour of the schemes is shown numerically by studying th…
