The in-medium feature of nuclear force which includes both nucleon-nucleon ($NN$) and hyperon-nucleon ($ΛN$) interactions impacts the description of single-$Λ$ hypernuclei. With the alternated mass number or isospin of hypernuclei, such effects could be unveiled by analyzing systematical evolution of the bulk and single-particle properties. From a density-dependent meson-nucleon/hyperon coupling perspective, a new $ΛN$ effective interaction in the covariant density functional (CDF) theory, namely DD-LZ1-$\Lambda1$, is obtained by fitting the experimental data of $Λ$ separation energies for several single-$Λ$ hypernuclei. It is then adopted to study the structure and transition properties of single-$Λ$ hypernuclei in Oxygen isotopes, comparing with several selected CDF Lagrangians. Discrepancy is observed explicitly in the isospin evolution of $\Lambda1p$ spin-orbit splitting with various effective interactions, ascribed to their divergence of the meson-hyperon coupling strengths with increasing density. In particular, the density-dependent CDFs introduce an extra contribution to enhance the isospin dependence of the splitting, which is originated from the rearrangement terms of $Λ$ self-energies. In addition, the characteristics of hypernuclear radii are studied along the isotopic chain. Owing to the impurity effect of $Λ$ hyperon, a size shrinkage is observed in the matter radii of hypernuclei as compared to their cores of normal nuclei, while its magnitude is elucidated further to correlate with the incompressibility of nuclear matter. Besides, there exists a sizable model-dependent trend that $Λ$ hyperon radii evolve with the neutron number, which is decided partly by the in-medium $NN$ interactions as well as the core polarization effects.
We present a new algorithm to identify fragments in computer simulations of relativistic heavy ion collisions. It is based on the simulated annealing technique and can be applied to n-body transport models like the Quantum Molecular Dynamics. This new approach is able to predict isotope yields as well as hyper-nucleus production. In order to illustrate its predicting power, we confront this new method to experimental data, and show the sensitivity on the parameters which govern the cluster formation.
Deformed multi-$Λ$ hypernuclei are studied within a relativistic mean-field model. In this paper, we take some $N=Z$ "hyper isotope" chains, i.e., $^{8+n}_{\ \ nΛ}{\rm Be}$, $^{20+n}_{\ \ \ nΛ}{\rm Ne}$, and $^{28+n}_{\ \ \ nΛ}{\rm Si}$ systems where $n = 2$, $4$ for Be, and $n = 2$, $8$ for Ne and Si. A sign of two-$^6_{2Λ}$He cluster structure is observed in the two-body correlation in $^{12}_{4Λ}$Be. In the Ne hyper isotopes, the deformation is slightly reduced by addition of $Λ$ hyperons whereas it is significantly reduced or even disappears in the Si hyper isotopes.
We study tensor and pairing effects on the quadruple deformation of neon isotopes based on a deformed Skyrme-Hartree-Fock model with BCS approximation for the pairing channel. We extend the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock formalism for the description of single- and double-lambda hypernuclei adopting two different hyperon-nucleon interactions. It is found that the interplay of pairing and tensor interactions is crucial to derive the deformations in several neon isotopes. Especially, the shapes of $^{26,30}$Ne are studied in details in comparisons with experimentally observed shapes. Furthermore the deform…
We study the superdeformed (SD) states and corresponding SD hypernuclei of Ar isotopes with the multidimensionally-constrained relativistic mean field (MDC-RMF) models which can accommodate various shape degree of freedom. %The hyperon-nucleon $σ$-$Λ$ and $ω$-$Λ$ interactions are introduced %in the same covariant framework. We found that the density profiles of SD states in Ar isotopes show a strong localization with a ring structure near the surface, while the central part of the density is dilute showing a hole structure. This localization of SD density induces an appreciable deformation in …
In nuclear reactions of high energy one can simultaneously produce a lot of hypernuclei after the capture of hyperons by nuclear residues. We consider statistical disintegration of such hypernuclear systems and the connection of fragment production with the binding energies of hyperons. It is demonstrated that the hyperon binding energies can be effectively evaluated from the yields of different isotopes of hypernuclei. The double ratio method is suggested for this purpose. The advantage of this procedure is its universality and the possibility to involve many different isotopes. This method c…
We study the hypernuclei of C and B isotopes by Hartree-Fock model with Skyrme-type nucleon-nucleon and nucleon-hyperon interactions. The calculated $Λ$ binding energies agree well with the available experiment data. We found halo structure in the hyperon $1p$-state with extended wave function beyond nuclear surface in the light C and B isotopes. We also found the enhanced electric dipole transition between $1p$- and $1s$-hyperon states, which could be the evidence for this hyperon halo structure.
We describe odd isotopes as formed of a core plus one neutron. We have calculated the modification of single neutron energies brought by couplings of the neutron with collective $2^+$ phonons in the cores. The results reproduce very well the inversion of $2s$ and $1d_{5/2}$ shells in carbon isotopes up to $^{19}$C while in oxygen isotopes the correction is also large but do not show any inversion in agreement with experiments. The calculated energies are close to the experimental ones in both series of isotopes except in $^{21}$C for the $2s$ state for which our coupling is too weak.
We present microscopic coupled-cluster calculations of the spectroscopic factors for proton removal from the closed-shell oxygen isotopes $^{14,16,22,24,28}$O with the chiral nucleon-nucleon interaction at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order. We include coupling-to-continuum degrees of freedom by using a Hartree-Fock basis built from a Woods-Saxon single-particle basis. This basis treats bound and continuum states on an equal footing. We find a significant quenching of spectroscopic factors in the neutron-rich oxygen isotopes, pointing to enhanced many-body correlations induced by strong cou…
We have studied the ground state bulk properties of magnesium isotopes using axially symmetric relativistic mean field formalism. The BCS pairing approach is employed to take care of the pairing correlation for the open shell nuclei. The contour plot of the nucleons distribution are analyzed at various parts of the nucleus, where clusters are located. The presence of an $^{16}$O core along bubble like $α$-particle(s) and few {\it nucleons} are found in the Mg isotopes.
The relativistic mean-field theory with Green's function method is extended to study $Λ$ hypernuclei. Taking hypernucleus $^{61}_Λ$Ca as an example, the single-particle resonant states for $Λ$ hyperons are investigated by analyzing density of states and the corresponding energies and widths are given. Different behaviors are observed for the resonant states, i.e., the distributions of the very narrow $1f_{5/2}$ and $1f_{7/2}$ states are very similar as bound states while that of the wide $1g_{7/2}$ and $1g_{9/2}$ states are like scattering states. Besides, the impurity effect of $Λ$ hyperons o…
The Gamow shell model has shown to efficiently describe weakly bound and unbound nuclear systems, as internucleon correlations and continuum coupling are both taken into account in this model. In the present work, we study neutron-dripline oxygen isotopes. It is hereby demonstrated that the presence of continuum coupling is important for the description of oxygen isotopes at dripline, and especially to assess the eventual bound or unbound character of $^{28}$O. Our results suggest that the ground state of $^{28}$O is weakly unbound and is similar to the narrow resonant $^{26}$O ground state. P…
We compute the binding energy of neutron-rich oxygen isotopes and employ the coupled-cluster method and chiral nucleon-nucleon interactions at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order with two different cutoffs. We obtain rather well-converged results in model spaces consisting of up to 21 oscillator shells. For interactions with a momentum cutoff of 500 MeV, we find that 28O is stable with respect to 24O, while calculations with a momentum cutoff of 600 MeV result in a slightly unbound 28O. The theoretical error estimates due to the omission of the three-nucleon forces and the truncation of exci…
We study boron, carbon, nitrogen and oxygen isotopes with a newly constructed shell-model Hamiltonian developed from monopole-based-universal interaction ($V_{MU}$). The present Hamiltonian can reproduce well the ground-state energies, energy levels, electric quadrupole properties and spin properties of these nuclei in full psd model space including $(0-3)\hbarω$ excitations. Especially, it correctly describes the drip lines of carbon and oxygen isotopes and the spins of the ground states of $^{10}$B and $^{18}$N while some former interactions such as WBP and WBT fail. We point out that the in…
In the present work, we have done a comprehensive study of low-lying energy spectrum for oxygen and fluorine chains using $ab~initio$ no core shell model. We have used inside nonlocal outside Yukawa (INOY) potential, which is a two body interaction but also has the effect of three body forces by short range and nonlocal character. Also, we have performed calculations with N3LO and N2LOopt interactions and compared corresponding results with the experimental data and phenomenological USDB interaction. We have reached up to $N_{max}$=6 for $^{18-21}$O and $^{18-19}$F, $N_{max}$=4 for other oxyge…
The binding-energy pattern along the neutron-rich oxygen chain, governed by an interplay between shell effects and many-body correlations impacted by strong couplings to one- and two-neutron continuum, make these isotopes a unique testing ground for nuclear models. In this work, we investigate ground states and low-lying excited states of $^{23-28}$O using the complex-energy Gamow Shell Model and Density Matrix Renormalization Group method with a finite-range two-body interaction optimized to the bound states and resonances of $^{23-26}$O, assuming a core of $^{22}$O. Our results suggest that …
We employ the Gamow shell model (GSM) to describe low-lying states of the oxygen isotopes 24O and 25O. The many-body Schrodinger equation is solved starting from a two-body Hamiltonian defined by a renormalized low-momentum nucleon-nucleon (NN) interaction, and a spherical Berggren basis. The Berggren basis treats bound, resonant, and continuum states on an equal footing, and is therefore an appropriate representation of loosely bound and unbound nuclear states near threshold. We show that such a basis is necessary in order to obtain a detailed and correct description of the low-lying 1+ and 2…
We derive and compute effective valence-space shell-model interactions from ab-initio coupled-cluster theory and apply them to open-shell and neutron-rich oxygen and carbon isotopes. Our shell-model interactions are based on nucleon-nucleon and three-nucleon forces from chiral effective-field theory. We compute the energies of ground and low-lying states, and find good agreement with experiment. In particular our calculations are consistent with the N=14, 16 shell closures in oxygen-22 and oxygen-24, while for carbon-20 the corresponding N=14 closure is weaker. We find good agreement between o…
We investigate the properties of $Λ$ hyperon in $Λ$-hypernuclei using an effective nuclear density functional theory which is based on the low-energy effective field theory. It expands the energy density in the power of Fermi momentum, and consequently has multiple density dependence for the effective many-body interactions. Starting from the effective density functional for nucleons, we determine the parameters for the two- and many-body $Λ$-$N$ interactions added to the nucleon energy density functional by fitting to $Λ$-hypernuclear data. The experimental data consist of the energy levels o…
We employ interactions from chiral effective field theory and compute binding energies, excited states, and radii for isotopes of oxygen with the coupled-cluster method. Our calculation includes the effects of three-nucleon forces and of the particle continuum, both of which are important for the description of neutron-rich isotopes in the vicinity of the nucleus O-24. Our main results are the placement of the neutron drip-line at O-24, the assignment of spins, parities and resonance widths for several low-lying states of the drip-line nucleus, and an efficient approximation that incorporates …
We search for potential isovector signatures in the neutron-rich oxygen and calcium isotopes within the framework of a relativistic mean-field theory with an exact treatment of pairing correlations. To probe the isovector sector we calibrate a few relativistic density functionals using the same isoscalar constraints but with one differing isovector assumption. It is found that under certain conditions, the isotopic chain in oxygen can be made to terminate at the experimentally observed ${}^{24}$O isotope and in the case of the calcium isotopes at ${}^{60}$Ca. To produce such behavior, the resu…
Low-lying continuum states of exotic oxygen isotopes are studied, by introducing the Continuum-Coupled Shell Model (CCSM) characterized by an infinite wall placed very far and by an interaction for continuum coupling constructed in a close relation to realistic shell-model interaction. Neutron emission spectra from exotic oxygen isotopes are calculated by the doorway-state approach in heavy-ion multi-nucleon transfer reactions. The results agree with experiment remarkably well, as an evidence that the continuum effects are stronger than $\sim$1 MeV, consistently with the shell evolution in exo…
A numerical method to integrate the time-dependent Hartree-Fock Bogoliubov (TDHFB) equations with Gogny interaction is proposed. The feasibility of the TDHFB code is illustrated by the conservation of the energy, particle numbers, and center-of-mass in the small amplitude vibrations of oxygen 20. The TDHFB code is applied to the isoscalar quadrupole and/or isovector dipole vibrations in the linear (small amplitude) region in oxygen isotopes (masses A = 18,20,22 and 24), titanium isotopes (A = 44,50,52 and 54), neon isotope (A = 26), and magnesium isotopes (A = 24 and 34). The isoscalar quadrup…
We present a systematic study of both nuclear radii and binding energies in (even) oxygen isotopes from the valley of stability to the neutron drip line. Both charge and matter radii are compared to state-of-the-art {\it ab initio} calculations along with binding energy systematics. Experimental matter radii are obtained through a complete evaluation of the available elastic proton scattering data of oxygen isotopes. We show that, in spite of a good reproduction of binding energies, {\it ab initio} calculations with conventional nuclear interactions derived within chiral effective field theory…
We formulate the In-Medium Similarity Renormalization Group (IM-SRG) for open-shell nuclei using a multi-reference formalism based on a generalized Wick theorem introduced in quantum chemistry. The resulting multi-reference IM-SRG (MR-IM-SRG) is used to perform the first ab initio study of even oxygen isotopes with chiral NN and 3N Hamiltonians, from the proton to the neutron drip lines. We obtain an excellent reproduction of experimental ground-state energies with quantified uncertainties, which is validated by results from the Importance-Truncated No-Core Shell Model and the Coupled Cluster …
We study the spectra of neutron-rich oxygen isotopes based on chiral two- and three-nucleon interactions. First, we benchmark our many-body approach by comparing ground-state energies to coupled-cluster results for the same two-nucleon interaction, with overall good agreement. We then calculate bound excited states in 21,22,23O, focusing on the role of three-nucleon forces, in the standard sd shell and an extended sdf7/2p3/2 valence space. Chiral three-nucleon forces provide important one- and two-body contributions between valence neutrons. We find that both these contributions and an extende…
A campaign of intermediate energy (300-450 MeV/u) proton-induced nucleon knockout measurements in inverse kinematics has been recently undertaken at the R 3 B/LAND setup at GSI. We present a systematic theoretical analysis of these data with the aim of studying the quenching of the single-particle strengths and its binding-energy dependence. For that, the measured semi-inclusive (p, 2p) and (p, pn) cross sections are compared with theoretical predictions based on single-particle cross sections derived from a novel coupled-channels formalism and shell-model spectroscopic factors. A systematic r…
The limit of neutron-rich nuclei, the neutron drip-line, evolves regularly from light to medium-mass nuclei except for a striking anomaly in the oxygen isotopes. This anomaly is not reproduced in shell-model calculations derived from microscopic two-nucleon forces. Here, we present the first microscopic explanation of the oxygen anomaly based on three-nucleon forces that have been established in few-body systems. This leads to repulsive contributions to the interactions among excess neutrons that change the location of the neutron drip-line from $^{28}$O to the experimentally observed $^{24}$O…
Nuclear masses of even-even nuclei with the proton number $8\leq Z\leq 50$ (O to Sn isotopes) from proton drip line to neutron drip line are investigated using the triaxial relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov (RHB) theory with the relativistic density functional PC-PK1, and the dynamical correlation energies (DCEs) associated with the rotational motion and the quadrupole shape vibrational motion are taken into account by the five-dimensional collective Hamiltonian (5DCH) method. The root-mean-square deviation with respect to the experimental masses reduces from 2.50 MeV to 1.59 MeV after the consi…
The properties of $\isotope[12]{C}$, $\isotope[16]{O}$, and $\isotope[20]{Ne}$ nuclei in strong magnetic fields $B\simeq 10^{17}\,$G are studied in the context of strongly magnetized neutron stars and white dwarfs. The SKY3D code is extended to incorporate the interaction of nucleons with the magnetic field and is utilized to solve the time-independent Hartree-Fock equations with a Skyrme interaction on a Cartesian three-dimensional grid. The numerical solutions demonstrate a number of phenomena, which include a splitting of the energy levels of spin-up and -down nucleons, spontaneous rearrang…
There has been an upsurge of interest in two-nucleon decays thanks to the studies of nucleon-nucleon correlations. In our previous work, based on a novel time-dependent three-body approach, we demonstrated that the energy and angular correlations of the emitted nucleons can shed light on the structure of nucleonic pairs formed inside the nucleus. In this work, we apply the new framework to study the decay dynamics and properties of some extreme proton-rich and neutron-rich oxygen isotopes, including two-proton ($2p$) decays of $^{11,12}$O and two-neutron ($2n$) decay of $^{26}$O. Here we show …
The anomalous large radii are exotic phenomena observed around the neutron dripline. Around the neutron dripline, the weak binding of the last bound neutron(s) causes the drastic increase of the radius, which is called neutron halo structure. Although the nucleus $^{24}$O is located at the dripline of Oxygen isotopes, the separation energies of one and two neutron(s) are 4.19 MeV and 6.92 MeV, respectively. In spite of this enough binding, the enhancement of the matter radius is observed. In this study, we microscopically describe the structure change of $^{22}$O core in $^{24}$O and explain t…
Nuclear masses ranging from O to Ti isotopes are systematically investigated with relativistic continuum Hartree-Bogoliubov (RCHB) theory, which can provide a proper treatment of pairing correlations in the presence of the continuum. From O to Ti isotopes, there are 402 nuclei predicted to be bound by the density functional PC-PK1. For the 234 nuclei with mass measured, the root mean square (rms) deviation is 2.23 MeV. It is found that the proton drip-lines predicted with various mass models are roughly the same and basically agree with the observation. The neutron drip-lines predicted, howeve…
Three-nucleon forces (3NFs), and in particular terms of the Fujita-Miyazawa type, strongly influence the structure of neutron-rich exotic isotopes. Ab-initio calculations have shown that chiral two- and three-nucleon interactions correctly reproduce binding energy systematics and neutron driplines of oxygen and nearby isotopes. Exploiting the novel self-consistent Gorkov-Green's function approach, we present the first investigation of Ar, K, Ca, Sc and Ti isotopic chains. Leading chiral 3N interactions are mandatory to reproduce the trend of binding energies throughout these chains and to obta…
The very neutron-rich oxygen isotopes 25O and 26O are investigated experimentally and theoret- ically. In this first R3B-LAND experiment, the unbound states are populated at GSI via proton- knockout reactions from 26F and 27F at relativistic energies around 450 MeV/nucleon. From the kinematically complete measurement of the decay into 24O plus one or two neutrons, the 25O ground- state energy and lifetime are determined, and upper limits for the 26O ground state are extracted. In addition, the results provide evidence for an excited state in 26O at around 4 MeV. The ex- perimental findings are…
