A fully quantitative description of equilibrium and dynamical properties of hot nuclear matter will be needed for the interpretation of the available and forthcoming astrophysical data, providing information on the post merger phase of a neutron star coalescence. We discuss the results of a recently developed theoretical model, based on a phenomenological nuclear Hamiltonian including two- and three-nucleon potentials, to study the temperature dependence of average and single-particle properties of nuclear matter relevant to astrophysical applications. The potential of the proposed approach for describing dissipative processes leading to the appearance of bulk viscosity in neutron star matter is also outlined.
The stability of hot expanded nuclear droplets against small bulk and surface oscillations is examined and possible consequences for multifragmentation are discussed.
The description of collective motion in nuclei at finite temperature using the framework of the random phase approximation is discussed. We focus on the special case of the isovector response function of hot nuclear matter using various effective Skyrme interactions.
We present a relativistic in-medium three-body equation to study correlations in hot and dense quark matter. The equation is solved for a zero-range force for parameters close to the phase transition of QCD.
The liquid-gas phase transition in hot asymmetric nuclear matter is investigated within relativistic mean-field model using the density dependence of nuclear symmetry energy constrained from the measured neutron skin thickness of finite nuclei. We find symmetry energy has a significant influence on several features of liquid-gas phase transition. The boundary and area of the liquid-gas coexistence region, the maximal isospin asymmetry and the critical values of pressure and isospin asymmetry all of which systematically increase with increasing softness in the density dependence of symmetry ene…
A novel mechanism of prompt nuclear fragmentation is proposed. Assuming micro-canonical or canonical equilibrium, it is shown that a strong enhancement of the accessible phase space volume, due to the diffuceness of the nuclear surface, leads to dynamical instabilities of hot nuclei and to prompt fragmentation. Equations are derived for the transition temperature T_T, for which the thermodynamical surface tension vanishes, as well as for the thermodynamical fissility parameter chi_td.
The liquid-gas phase transition in hot neutron-rich nuclear matter is investigated within a self-consistent thermal model using different interactions with or without isospin and/or momentum dependence. The boundary of the phase-coexistence region is shown to be sensitive to the density dependence of the nuclear symmetry energy as well as the isospin and momentum dependence of the nuclear interaction.
We consider deuteron formation in hot and dense nuclear matter close to equilibrium and evaluate the life-time of the deuteron fluctuations within the linear response theory. To this end we derive a generalized linear Boltzmann equation where the collision integral is related to equilibrium correlation functions. In this framework we then utilize finite temperature Green functions to evaluate the collision integrals. The elementary reaction cross section is evaluated within the Faddeev approach that is suitably modified to reflect the properties of the surrounding hot and dense matter.
The dynamics of embryonic bubbles in overheated, viscous and non-Markovian nuclear matter is studied. It is shown that the memory and the Fermi surface distortions significantly affect the hinderance of bubble collapse and determine a characteristic oscillations of the bubble radius. These oscillations occur due to the additional elastic force induced by the memory integral.
We study hot nuclear matter in an explicit quark model based on a mean field description of nonoverlapping nucleon bags bound by the self-consistent exchange of scalar and vector mesons as well as the glueball field. The glueball exchange as well as a realization of the broken scale invariance of quantum chromodynamics is achieved through the introduction of a dilaton field. The calculations also take into account the medium-dependence of the bag constant. The effective potential with dilatons is applied to nuclear matter. The nucleon properties at finite temperature as calculated here are fou…
The description of nuclear matter bulk properties in the framework of quark-based hadron models in curved unit cells is extended to finite temperature. We discuss the analogy and interplay of density and temperature effects in this formulation and study, as an application, the temperature and density dependence of chiral vacuum properties in the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model.
By using the Furnstahl, Serot and Tang's model, the effect of density dependence of the effective nucleon-nucleon-rho-meson (NN-rho) coupling on the liquid-gas phase transition in hot asymmetric nuclear matter is investigated. A limit pressure p_lim has been found. We found that the liquid-gas phase transition cannot take place if p>p_lim. The binodal surface for density dependent NN-rho coupling situation is addressed.
We develop a nonperturbative technique in field theory to study properties of infinite nuclear matter at zero temperature as well as at finite temperatures. Here we dress the nuclear matter with off-mass shell pions. The techniques of thermofield dynamics are used for finite temperature calculations. Equation of state is derived from the dynamics of the interacting system in a self consistent manner. The transition temperature for nuclear matter appears to be around 15 MeV.
The neutron and proton single-particle spectral functions in asymmetric nuclear matter fulfill energy weighted sum rules. The validity of these sum rules within the self-consistent Green's function approach is investigated. The various contributions to these sum rules and their convergence as a function of energy provide information about correlations induced by the realistic interaction between the nucleons. These features are studied as a function of the asymmetry of nuclear matter.
Results on dissipative isoscalar modes of a hot and dilute nuclear droplet are presented. As compared to the adiabatic limit (part I), realistic dissipation yields a substantial reduction of the growth rates for all unstable modes, while the area of spinodal instability in the ($\varrho$,T)-plane remains unchanged. The qualitative features of multifragmentation through spinodal decomposition as obtained in the adiabatic limit are not significantly affected by dissipation.
The liquid-gas phase transition in hot asymmetric nuclear matter is studied within density-dependent relativistic mean-field models where the density dependence is introduced according to the Brown-Rho scaling and constrained by available data at low densities and empirical properties of nuclear matter. The critical temperature of the liquid-gas phase transition is obtained to be 15.7 MeV in symmetric nuclear matter falling on the lower edge of the small experimental error bars. In hot asymmetric matter, the boundary of the phase-coexistence region is found to be sensitive to the density depen…
Evaporation residue cross-sections are calculated in a dynamical description of nuclear fission in the framework of the Langevin equation coupled with statistical evporation of light particles. A theoretical model of one-body nuclear friction which was developed earlier, namely the chaos-weighted wall formula, is used in this calculation for the 224Th nucleus. The evaporation residue cross-section is found to be very sensitive to the choice of nuclear friction. The present results indicate that the chaotic nature of the single-particle dynamics within the nuclear volume may provide an explanat…
We derive three-body equations valid at finite densities and temperatures. These are based on the cluster mean field approach consistently including proper self energy corrections and the Pauli blocking. As an application we investigate the binding energies of triton and determine the Mott densities and momenta relevant for a many particle description of nuclear matter in a generalized Beth-Uhlenbeck approach. The method, however is not restricted to nuclear physics problems but may also be relevant, e.g., to treat three-particle correlations in weekly doped semiconducters or strongly coupled …
In the frame work of SU(2) chiral sigma model, the nuclear matter properties at zero and finite temperature have been investigated. We have analyzed the nuclear matter equation of state by varying different parameters, which agrees well with the one derived from the heavy-ion collision experiment at extreme densities and reliable realistic(DBHF) model at low density region. We have then calculated the temperature dependent asymmetric nuclear matter, also investigated the critical temperature of liquid gas phase transition and compared with the experimental data. We found that the critical temp…
To describe nuclear matter at high temperature and high baryon density appropriate for RHIC and LHC, an effective theory is proposed. Three developments underlie the effective theory: (1) relativistic mean field theory description of nuclear matter with mesons mediating interactions; (2) topological soliton description of the nucleon with hidden local symmetry; (3) phenomenological knowledge of nucleon-nucleon interaction and nucleon structure obtained from elastic NN scattering at c.m. energies of hundreds of GeV. When these developments are combined together, a gauged linear sigma-model with…
The properties and the isospin dependence of the liquid-gas phase transition in hot asymmetric nuclear matter have been investigated within the framework of the finite temperature Brueckner-Hartree-Fock approach extended to include the contribution of a microscopic three-body force. A typical Van der Waals structure has been observed in the calculated isotherms (of pressure) for symmetric nuclear matter implying the presence of the liquid-gas phase transition. The critical temperature of the phase transition is calculated and its dependence on the proton-to-neutron ratio is discussed. It is sh…
The antikaon optical potential in hot and dense nuclear matter is studied within the framework of a coupled-channel self-consistent calculation taking, as bare meson-baryon interaction, the meson-exchange potential of the Jülich group. Typical conditions found in heavy-ion collisions at GSI are explored. As in the case of zero temperature, the angular momentum components larger than L=0 contribute significantly to the finite temperature antikaon optical potential at finite momentum. It is found that the particular treatment of the medium effects has a strong influence on the behavior of the an…
We investigate the response function of hot nuclear matter to a small isovector external field using a simplified Skyrme interaction reproducing the value of the symmetry energy coefficient. We consider values of the momentum transfer corresponding to the dipole oscillation in heavy nuclei. We find that while at zero temperature the particle hole interaction is almost repulsive enough to have a sharp (zero sound type) collective oscillation, such is no longer the case at temperatures of a few MeV. As a result a broadening of the dipole resonance occurs, leading to its quasi disappearence by th…
Open charm mesons (pseudo-scalar and scalar as well as axial-vector and vector) propagating or resting in nuclear matter display an enhanced sensitivity to the chiral condensate. This offers new prospects to seek for signals of chiral restoration, in particular in p-A and p-bar-A reactions as envisaged in first-round experiments by the CBM and PANDA collaborations at FAIR. Weinberg type sum rules for charming chiral partners are presented, and the distinct in-medium modifications of open-charm mesons are discussed. We also address the gluon condensates near Tc and their impact on QCD sum rules…
The Charmonium transverse momentum distribution is more sensitive to the nature of the hot QCD matter created in high energy nuclear collisions, in comparison with the yield. Taking a detailed transport approach for charmonium motion together with a hydrodynamic description for the medium evolution, the cancelation between the two hot nuclear matter effects, the dissociation and the regeneration, controls the charmonium transverse momentum distribution. Especially, the second moment of the distribution can be used to differentiate between the hot mediums produced at SPS, RHIC and LHC energies.
We explore the abundance of light clusters in asymmetric nuclear matter at subsaturation density. With increasing density, binding energies and wave functions are modified due to medium effects. The method of Albergo, Costa, Costanzo and Rubbino (ACCR) for determining the temperature and free nucleon density of a disassembling hot nuclear source from fragment yields is modified to include, in addition to Coulomb effects and flow, also effects of medium modifications of cluster properties, which become of importance when the nuclear matter density is above 10$^{-3}$ fm$^{-3}$. We show how the a…
One of the most fundamental questions in the field of relativistic heavy ion physics is how to reach and explore densities which are needed to cross the chiral and/or the deconfinement phase transition. In this analysis we investigate the information we can gather by analyzing baryonic and mesonic resonances on the hot and dense phase in such nuclear reactions. The decay products of these resonances carry information on the resonances properties at the space time point of their decay. We especially investigate the percentage of reconstructable resonances as a function of density for heavy ion …

The production of antibaryons is calculated in a microscopic transport approach employing multiple meson fusion reactions according to detailed balance relations with respect to baryon-antibaryon annihilation. It is found that the abundancies of antiprotons as observed from peripheral to central collisions of $Pb + Pb$ at the SPS and $Au + Au$ at the AGS can approximately be described on the basis of multiple interactions of 'formed' hadronic states which drive the system to chemical equilibrium by flavor exchange or quark rearrangement reactions.
The single-particle spectral functions in asymmetric nuclear matter are computed using the ladder approximation within the theory of finite temperature Green's functions. The internal energy and the momentum distributions of protons and neutrons are studied as a function of the density and the asymmetry of the system. The proton states are more strongly depleted when the asymmetry increases while the occupation of the neutron states is enhanced as compared to the symmetric case. The self-consistent Green's function approach leads to slightly smaller energies as compared to the Brueckner Hartre…
We develop a variational theory of hot nuclear matter in neutron stars and supernovae. It can also be used to study charged, hot nuclear matter which may be produced in heavy-ion collisions. This theory is a generalization of the variational theory of cold nuclear and neutron star matter based on realistic models of nuclear forces and pair correlation operators. The present approach uses microcanonical ensembles and the variational principle obeyed by the free energy. In this paper we show that the correlated states of the microcanonical ensemble at a given temperature $T$ and density $ρ$ can …
A semiphenomenological approach to the nucleon self-energy in nuclear matter at finite temperatures is followed. It combines elements of Thermo Field Dynamics for the treatment of finite temperature with a model for the self-energy, which evaluates the second order diagrams taking the needed dynamics of the NN interaction from experiment. The approach proved to be accurate at zero temperature to reproduce Im(Sigma) and other properties of nucleons in matter. In the present case we apply it to determine Im(Sigma) at finite temperatures. An effective NN cross section is deduced which can be easi…
The effect of nucleon-nucleon correlations in symmetric nuclear matter at finite temperature is studied beyond BCS theory. Starting from a Hartree-Fock description of nuclear matter with the Gogny effective interaction, we add correlations corresponding to the formation of preformed pairs and scattering states above the superfluid critical temperature within the in-medium T-matrix approach, which is analogous to the Nozieres-Schmitt-Rink theory. We calculate the critical temperature for a BEC superfluid of deuterons, of a BCS superfluid of nucleons, and in the crossover between these limits. T…
We explore the presence of thermodynamic instabilities and, con\-se\-quen\-tly, the realization of a pure hadronic phase transition in the hot and finite baryon density nuclear matter. The analysis is performed by means of an effective relativistic mean-field model with the inclusion of hyperons, $Δ$-isobars, and the lightest pseudoscalar and vector meson degrees of freedom. The Gibbs conditions on the global conservation of baryon number and zero net strangeness in symmetric nuclear matter are required. Similarly to the liquid-gas phase transition, we show that a phase transition, characteriz…
The propagation of the isoscalar and isovector sound modes in a hot nuclear matter is considered. The approach is based on the collisional kinetic theory and takes into account the temperature and memory effects. It is shown that the sound velocity and the attenuation coefficient are significantly influenced by the Fermi surface distortion (FSD). The corresponding influence is much stronger for the isoscalar mode than for the isovector one. The memory effects cause a non-monotonous behavior of the attenuation coefficient as a function of the relaxation time leading to a zero-to-first sound tra…
Structure of cold and hot dense matter at subnuclear densities is investigated by quantum molecular dynamics (QMD) simulations. Obtained phase diagrams show that the density of the phase boundaries between the different nuclear structures decreases with increasing temperature due to the thermal expansion of nuclear matter region.
Cross-sections for capture reactions of charged particles in hot stellar matter turn out be increased by the quadrupole surface oscillations, if the corresponding phonon energies are of the order of the star temperature. The increase is studied in a model that combines barrier distribution induced by surface oscillations and tunneling. The capture of charged particles by nuclei with well-deformed ground-state is enhanced in stellar matter. It is found that the influence of quadrupole surface deformation on the nuclear reactions in stars grows, when mass and proton numbers in colliding nuclei i…
The finite temperature Brueckner-Hartree-Fock approach is extended by introducing a microscopic three-body force. In the framework of the extended model, the equation of state of hot asymmetric nuclear matter and its isospin dependence have been investigated. The critical temperature of liquid-gas phase transition for symmetric nuclear matter has been calculated and compared with other predictions. It turns out that the three-body force gives a repulsive contribution to the equation of state which is stronger at higher density and as a consequence reduces the critical temperature of liquid-gas…
A microscopic approach to the proton-neutron nuclear response is formulated in the finite-temperature relativistic nuclear field theory framework. The approach is based on the meson-nucleon Lagrangian of quantum hadrodynamics and advances the relativistic field theory for spin-isospin response beyond the finite-temperature random phase approximation. The dynamical contribution to the in-medium proton-neutron interaction amplitude is described in a parameter-free way by the coupling between the single nucleons and strongly-correlated particle-hole excitations (phonons) within the newly develope…
The density profile of a hot nuclear system produced in intermediate energy heavy ion collisions is studied in a microcanonical formulation with a momentum and density dependent finite range interaction. The caloric curve and the density evolution with excitation are calculated for a number of systems for the equilibrium mononuclear configuration; they compare favorably with the recent experimental data. The studied density fluctuations are seen to build up rapidly beyond an excitation energy of 8 MeV/u indicating the instability of the system towards nuclear disassembly. Explicit introduction…
This article summarizes our present knowledge about nuclear matter at the highest energy densities and its formation in relativistic heavy ion collisions. We review what is known about the structure and properties of the quark-gluon plasma and survey the observables that are used to glean information about it from experimental data.
We present a dynamical study of $e^+e^-$ and $μ^+ μ^-$ production in proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at CERN-SPS energies on the basis of the covariant transport approach HSD employing a momentum-dependent $ρ$-meson spectral function that includes the pion modifications in the nuclear medium as well as the polarization of the $ρ$-meson due to resonant $ρ$$-N$ scattering. We find that the experimental data from the CERES and HELIOS-3 Collaborations can be described equally well as within the dropping $ρ$-mass scenario. Whereas corresponding dilepton $q_T$-spectra are found to be v…
In high neutron flux environments where isomers can be strongly populated by nucleonic reactions, isotope abundances from reaction network chains can be affected by the population of nuclear isomers. At high temperatures and densities there is the additional possibility of populating these isomers electromagnetically. Here we examine the rates for electromagnetic excitation of the isotopes of several isomers of interest both in astrophysics and applied physics (e.g. 235U, 193Ir, and 87Y,88Y). We consider six possible electromagnetic processes, namely, photo-absorption, inverse internal convers…
We provide predictions for charmonium and open charm production in nuclear collisions at SPS/FAIR energies within the framework of the statistical hadronization model. The increasing importance at lower energies of Lambda_c production is demonstrated and provides a challenge for future experiments. We also demonstrate that, because of the large charm quark mass and the different timescales for charm quark and charmed hadron production, possible modifications of charmed hadrons in the hot hadronic medium do not lead to measurable changes in cross sections for D-meson production. A possible infl…
Assuming that nuclear matter can be treated as a perfect fluid, we study the propagation of perturbations in the baryon density. The equation of state is derived from a relativistic mean field model, which is a variant of the non-linear Walecka model. The expansion of the Euler and continuity equations of relativistic hydrodynamics around equilibrium configurations leads to differential equations for the density fluctuations. We solve them numerically for linear and spherical perturbations and follow the time evolution of the initial pulses. For linear perturbations we find single soliton solu…
Quarkonium suppression is one of the more useful observables to obtain information about the hot medium created in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. In this manuscript, we discuss a simple way to implement both the initial-state effects and the hot-medium evolution, and to compute the quarkonium nuclear modification factor if the survival probability for a bound state at a given energy density is known. Based on the Glauber model, the temperature of the evolving medium and the centrality dependence of the nuclear modification factor will be analysed.
The dispersion relation of $ρ$ meson in both timelike and spacelike regimes in hot and dense nuclear medium is analyzed and compared with $σ$ meson based on the quantum hadrodynamics model. The pole and screening masses of $ρ$ and $σ$ are discussed. The behavior of screening mass of $ρ$ is different from that of $σ$ due to different Dirac- and Fermi-sea contributions at finite temperature and density.
We provide an equation of state for hot nuclear matter in $β$-equilibrium by applying a momentum-dependent effective interaction. We focus on the study of the equation of state of high-density and high-temperature nuclear matter, containing leptons (electrons and muons) under the chemical equilibrium condition in which neutrinos have left the system. The conditions of charge neutrality and equilibrium under $β$-decay process lead first to the evaluation of proton and lepton fractions and afterwards of internal energy, free energy, pressure and in total to the equation of state of hot nuclear m…
This work aim to study the various thermal characteristics of nuclei in view of the saturation and critical behavior of infinite nuclear matter. The free energy of a nucleus is parametrized using the density and temperature-dependent liquid-drop model and interaction among nucleons is worked out within the effective relativistic mean-field theory (E-RMF). The effective mass (m,$^*$) and critical temperature of infinite symmetric nuclear matter ($T_c$) of a given E-RMF parameter force play a seminal role in the estimation of thermal properties. A larger (m$^*$) and $T_c$ of the E-RMF set estima…
This review article is focused on the tremendous progress realized during the last fifteen years in the understanding of multifragmentation and its relationship to the liquid-gas phase diagram of nuclei and nuclear matter. The explosion of the whole nucleus, early predicted by Bohr [N. Bohr, Nature 137 (1936) 351], is a very complex and rich subject which continues to fascinate nuclear physicists as well as theoreticians who extend the thermodynamics of phase transitions to finite systems.
Equilibrium statistics of finite Hamiltonian systems is fundamentally described by the microcanonical ensemble (ME). Canonical, or grand-canonical partition functions are deduced from this by Laplace transform. Only in the thermodynamic limit are they equivalent to ME for homogeneous systems. Therefore ME is the only ensemble for non-extensive/inhomogeneous systems like nuclei or stars where the $\lim_{N\to \infty,ρ=N/V=const}$ does not exist. Conventional canonical thermo-statistic is inapplicable for non-extensive systems. This has far reaching fundamental and quite counter-intuitive consequ…
We study here hot nuclear matter in the quark meson coupling (QMC) model which incorporates explicitly quark degrees of freedom, with quarks coupled to scalar and vector mesons. The equation of state of nuclear matter including the composite nature of the nucleons is calculated at finite temperatures. The calculations are done taking into account the medium-dependent bag constant. Nucleon properties at finite temperatures as calculated here are found to be appreciably different from the value at $T=0.$
A model to study the sound wave in hot dense matter created in heavy ion collisions by jet is proposed. The preliminary data of jet shape analysis of PHENIX Collaboration for all centralities and two directions is well explained in this model. Then the wavelength of the sound wave, the natural frequency of the hot dense matter and the speed of sound wave are estimated from the fit.
We study cold and hot nuclear matter effects on charmonium production in p+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_\text{NN}}=5.02$ TeV in a transport approach. At the forward rapidity, the cold medium effect on all the $c\bar c$ states and the hot medium effect on the excited $c\bar c$ states only can explain well the $J/ψ$ and $ψ'$ yield and transverse momentum distribution measured by the ALICE collaboration, and we predict a significantly larger $ψ'$ $p_\text{T}$ broadening in comparison with $J/ψ$. However, we can not reproduce the $J/ψ$ and $ψ'$ data at the backward rapidity with reasonable cold and h…
The rho meson spectral function in hot and dense asymmetric nuclear matter (number densities of proton and neutron different) is evaluated in an effective chiral SU(3) model within the mean field approximation (MFA). The dependence of the vector meson masses on density and temperature, their variation with the asymmetry parameter, the form of the spectral function when the p <-> n symmetry is broken are studied. One can observe clear splitting of the longitudinal and the transverse modes among the rho isospin multiplets. The role of a running tensor coupling on the spectral function is also st…
Using phenomenological equations of state, we study the chemical and mechanical instabilities in hot isospin-asymmetric nuclear matter. Both instabilities are found to depend strongly on the isospin asymmetry of the nuclear matter. For a chemically and mechanically stable asymmetric nuclear matter, a lower neutron excess is found in the liquid phase than in the gas phase. Furthermore, the neutron excess in the mixed phase at densities between that of the liquid and the gas phases is limited by certain maximum value. Also, for the nuclear equations of state considered here the boundary of chemi…
Multiple parton interactions in relativistic heavy ion reactions result in transverse momentum diffusion and medium induced non-Abelian energy loss of the hard probes traversing cold and hot nuclear matter. A systematic study of the interplay of nuclear effects on the $p_T \geq 2$ GeV inclusive hadron spectra demonstrates that the competition between nuclear shadowing, multiple scattering and jet quenching leads to distinctly different enhancement/suppression of moderate and high-$p_T$ hadron production in $d+Au$ and $Au+Au$ collisions at RHIC. The associated increase of di-jet acoplanarity, m…
We have calculated the in-medium magnetic moments of octet baryons in the presence of hot and dense symmetric nuclear matter. Effective magnetic moments of baryons have been derived from medium modified quark masses within chiral SU(3) quark mean field model. Further, for better insight of medium modification of baryonic magnetic moments, we have considered the explicit contributions from the valence quarks, sea quarks as well as sea orbital angular momentum of sea quarks. These effects have been successful in giving the description of baryonic magnetic moments in vacuum. The magnetic moments …
We present a comprehensive analysis of hot and dilute isospin-asymmetric nuclear matter employing the temperature-dependent effective-relativistic mean-field theory (E-RMF). The E-RMF is applied to study the effect of $δ$ and $ω-ρ$ meson cross-coupling on the thermal properties of asymmetric nuclear matter using two recently developed IOPB-I and G3 parameter sets. These sets are known to reproduce the nuclear matter properties in agreement with various experimental and observational constraints. We consider the nuclear matter to be homogeneous and study the equation of state (EoS) for densitie…
The screening potential in the $^1S_0$ and $^3S_1$ pairing channels in neutron and nuclear matter in different approximations is discussed. It is found that the vertex corrections to the potential are much stronger in nuclear matter than in neutron matter.
Short-range quark-quark correlations in hot nuclear matter are examined within the modified quark-meson coupling model (MQMC) by adding repulsive scalar and vector quark-quark interactions. Without these correlations, the bag radius increases with the baryon density. However when the correlations are introduced the bag size shrinks as the bags overlap. Also as the strength of the scalar quark-quark correlation is increased, the decrease of the effective nucleon mass $M^{*}_N$ with the baryonic density is slowed down and tends to saturate at high densities. Within this model we study the phase …
