We consider electrically neutral complex vector particles $V$ below the GeV mass scale that, from a low energy perspective, couple to the photon via higher dimensional form factor interactions. We derive ensuing astrophysical constraints by considering the anomalous energy loss from the Sun, Horizontal Branch, and Red Giant stars as well as from SN1987A that arise from vector pair-production in these environments. Under the assumption that the dark states $V$ constitute dark matter, the bounds are then complemented by direct and indirect detection as well as cosmological limits. The relic density from freeze-out and freeze-in mechanisms is also computed. On the basis of a UV-complete model that realizes the considered effective couplings, we also discuss the naturalness of the constrained parameter space, and provide an analysis of the zero mass limit of $V$.
Pion electroproduction off the proton is analyzed in a new framework based on a general parametrization of transition amplitudes, including constraints from gauge invariance and threshold behavior. Data with energies $1.13~{\rm GeV}<W<1.6~{\rm GeV}$ and $Q^2$ below $6~{\rm GeV}^2$ are included. The model is an extension of the latest Jülich-Bonn solution incorporating constraints from pion-induced and photoproduction data. Performing large scale fits ($\sim10^5$ data) we find a set of solutions with $χ^2_{\rm dof}=1.69-1.81$ which allows us to assess the systematic uncertainty of the approach.
One of the most important tasks in high energy physics is search for the exotic states, such as glueball, hybrid and multi-quark states. The transitions $ψ(ns)\to ψ(ms)+ππ$ and $Υ(ns)\to Υ(ms)+ππ$ attract great attentions because they may reveal characteristics of hybrids. In this work, we analyze those transition modes in terms of the theoretical framework established by Yan and Kuang. It is interesting to notice that the intermediate states between the two gluon-emissions are hybrids, therefore by fitting the data, we are able to determine the mass spectra of hybrids. The ground hybrid state…
Properties of scalar mesons below 1.0 GeV have been studied by regarding them as hadronic molecular states. Using the effective Lagrangian approach, we have calculated their leptonic decays, strong decays and productions via the $ϕ$ meson radiative decays. Comparing our results with that given in the literature and the data, we conclude that it is difficult to arrange them in the same nonet if some of them are pure hadronic molecules.
There could be a Higgs boson with a mass less than 100 GeV/c2 in the LEP data if its decay width and modes are not dominated by b quarks. At present, the quantum interference between signal and background processes has not been considered in flavour independent searches but when it is, the long-sought particle may appear.
We briefly review the status of various conventional quark-antiquark mesons below 2 GeV and outline some open questions: the status of the strange-antistrange orbitally excited vector meson, the status of the nonet of axial-tensor mesons (chiral partners of the well known tensor mesons), and the isoscalar mixing angle in the pseudotensor sector, which can eventually represent a novel manifestation of the chiral anomaly.
The combined 3-channel analysis of experimental data on the coupled processes $ππ\toππ,K\bar{K},ηη$ is carried out in the channel with the vacuum quantum numbers. An approach, using only first principles (analyticity and unitarity) and the uniformizing variable, is applied. Definite indications of the QCD nature of the $f_0$ resonances below 1.9 GeV are obtained, among them a surprising indication for $f_0(980)$ to be the $ηη$ bound state. An assignment of the scalar mesons below 1.9 GeV to lower nonets is proposed.
Within the context of a generalized linear sigma model that includes two nonets of scalar mesons (a two-quark nonet and a four-quark nonet) and two nonets of pseudoscalar mesons (a two-quark nonet and a four-quark nonet) a collective description of scalar and pseudoscalar mesons below and above 1 GeV is studied. The quark contents of these states are probed; estimates on their quark components are extracted; and prediction for pi pi scattering amplitude is made. An overview of these studies is presented here.
On the basis of a simultaneous description of the isoscalar s-wave channel of the $ππ$ scattering (from the threshold up to 1.9 GeV) and of the $ππ\to K\bar{K}$ process (from the threshold to $\sim$ 1.4 GeV) in the model-independent approach, a confirmation of the $σ$-meson at $\sim$ 660 MeV and an indication for the glueball nature of the $f_0(1500)$ state are obtained.
We estimate the thermal masses and damping rates of active (m < eV) and sterile (M ~ GeV) neutrinos with thermal momenta k ~ 3T at temperatures below the electroweak crossover (5 GeV < T < 160 GeV). These quantities fix the equilibration or "washout" rates of Standard Model lepton number densities. Sterile neutrinos interact via direct scatterings mediated by Yukawa couplings, and via their overlap with active neutrinos. Including all leading-order reactions we find that the washout rate generally exceeds the Hubble rate for 5 GeV < T < 30 GeV. Therefore it is challenging to generate a large l…
We study a two Higgs doublet model augmented by a scalar dark matter particle that provides an excellent fit to the LHC Higgs data and the Fermi-LAT 135 GeV line. The heavy CP-even Higgs boson, which predominantly mediates annihilation and scattering, must have a coupling to weak gauge bosons at or below percent level to suppress the continuum gamma-ray spectrum below the limit from the Fermi-LAT data and the anti-proton spectrum constrained by the PAMELA data. Discovering or excluding this CP-even Higgs boson at the LHC with a mass between 265 and 280 GeV and an enhanced diphoton branching ra…
The light scalar mesons below 1 GeV as tetraquark states are studied in the framework of the flux-tube model, the multi-body confinement instead of the additive two-body confinement is used. From the calculated results, we find that the light scalar mesons, $σ$, $κ$ could be well accommodated in the diquark-antidiquark tetraquark picture in the flux-tube model and they could be color confinement resonances. The mass of the first radial excited state of $[ud][\bar{u}\bar{d}]$ is 1019 MeV, which is close to the mass of $f_0(980)$. Whereas $a_0(980)$ can not be fitted in this interpretation.

Processes of electron-positron annihilation into charged pions and kaons are considered. Radiative corrections are taken into account exactly in the first order and within the leading logarithmic approximation in higher orders. A combined approach for accounting exact calculations and electron structure functions is used. An accuracy of the calculation can be estimated about 0.2%.
This study appertains to the extraction of estimates for the masses and for the partial decay widths to pion-nucleon final states of the well-established (four-star) $s$ and $p$ baryon resonances below $2$ GeV. These estimates are exclusively obtained from the data contained in the recent compilation by the Particle Data Group. Only the $N$ ($S=0,I=1/2$) and the $Δ$ ($S=0,I=3/2$) states are considered, where $S$ and $I$ denote strangeness and total isospin, respectively.
In this work, we study the high-spin states with masses below 3 GeV observed in experiments and we perform analysis of mass spectrum and investigation of strong decay behaviors of the high-spin states. Comparing our results with the experimental data, we can reveal the underlying properties of these high-spin states; more importantly, we also predict their abundant decay features, which can provide valuable information for experimental exploration of these high-spin states.
We study the two photon decay of neutral scalars below 1.5 GeV in the context of a recently proposed chiral model for bar{q}q and bar{q}bar{q}qq states. We find good agreement with experimental results for the a_{0}(980)->gamma gamma. Our calculations for f_{0}(980)->gamma gamma shows that further work is necessary in order to understand the structure of this meson. The model predicts Gamma(a_{0}(1450)->gamma gamma)=0.16+/-0.10KeV, Gamma(sigma->gamma gamma)=0.47+/-0.66 KeV, Gamma(f(1370)->gamma gamma)=0.07+/-0.15 KeV, Gamma(f(1500)->gamma gamma)=0.74+/-0.78 KeV.
QED processes at electron-positron colliders are considerd. We present differential cross-sections for large-angle Bhabha scattering, annihilation into muons and photons. Radiative corrections in the first order are taken into account exactly. Leading logarithmic contributions are calculated in all orders by means of the structure-function method. An accuracy of the calculation can be estimated about 0.2%.
We show that two nonets and a glueball provide a consistent description of data on scalar mesons below 1.7 GeV. Above 1 GeV the states form a conventional (q bar q) nonet mixed with the glueball of lattice QCD. Below 1 GeV the states also form a nonet, as implied by the attractive forces of QCD, but of more complicated nature. Near the center they are 4 quark states of the Jaffe type in S-wave, with some (q bar q) in P-wave, but further out they rearrange in colour to two colourless (q bar q) pairs and finally as meson-meson states. A simple effective chiral model for such a system with two sc…
How light can a fermion be if it has unit electric charge? We revisit the lore that LEP robustly excludes charged fermions lighter than about 100 GeV. We review LEP chargino searches, and find them to exclude charged fermions lighter than 90 GeV, assuming a higgsino-like cross section. However, if the charged fermion couples to a new scalar, destructive interference among production channels can lower the LEP cross section by a factor of 3. In this case, we find that charged fermions as light as 75 GeV can evade LEP bounds, while remaining consistent with constraints from the LHC. As the LHC c…
The global features of spectrum of highly excited light nonstrange mesons can be well understood within both chiral symmetry restoration scenario combined with the relation $M^2\sim J+n$ and within nonrelativistic description based on the relation $M^2\sim L+n$. The predictions of these two alternative classifications for missing states are different and only future experiments can distinguish between the two. We elaborate and compare systematically the predictions of both schemes, which may serve as a suggestion for future experiments devoted to the search for missing states.
This study revisits the issue of the extraction of estimates for the masses and for the partial decay widths to two pions of the scalar-isoscalar $I^G\,(J^{PC}) = 0^+\,(0^{++})$ and vector-isovector $I^G\,(J^{PC}) = 1^+\,(1^{--})$ mesons below $2$ GeV, from the data contained in the recent compilation by the Particle Data Group.
The scattering of $γπ\to ππ$ is studied using the axial anomaly, elastic unitarity, analyticity and crossing symmetry. Using the technique to derive the Roy's equation, an integral equation for the P-wave amplitude is obtained in terms of the strong P-wave pion pion phase shifts. Its solution is obtained numerically by an iteration procedure using the starting point as the solution of the integral equation of the Muskelshsvilli-Omnes type. It is, however, ambiguous and depends sensitively on the second derivative of the P-wave amplitude at $s=m_π^2$ which cannot directly be measured.
We prove that taking correctly into account the lepton flavour dependence of the CP asymmetries and washout processes, it is possible to obtain successful thermal leptogenesis from the decays of the second right-handed neutrino. The asymmetries in the muon and tau-flavour channels are then not erased by the inverse decays of the lightest right-handed neutrino, N_1. In this way, we reopen the possibility of ``thermal leptogenesis'' in models with a strong hierarchy in the right-handed Majorana masses that is typically the case in models with up-quark--neutrino Yukawa unification.
On the basis of a simultaneous description of the isoscalar s-wave channel of the $ππ$ scattering (from the threshold up to 1.9 GeV) and of the $ππ\to K\bar{K}$ process (from the threshold to $\sim$ 1.4 GeV) in the model-independent approach, a confirmation of the $σ$-meson at $\sim$ 665 MeV and an indication for the glueball nature of the $f_0(1500)$ state are obtained. It is shown that the large $ππ$-background, usually obtained, combines, in reality, the influence of the left-hand branch-point and the contribution of a very wide resonance at $\sim$ 665 MeV. The coupling constants of the obs…
The beam-helicity asymmetry has been measured simultaneously for the reactions (e p \to e p γ) and (e p \to e p π^0) in the $Δ(1232)$ resonance region at $Q^2=$ 0.35 (GeV/c)$^2$. The experiment was performed at MAMI with a longitudinally polarized beam and an out-of-plane detection of the proton. The results are compared with calculations based on Dispersion Relations for virtual Compton scattering and with the MAID model for pion electroproduction. There is an overall good agreement between experiment and theoretical calculations. The remaining discrepancies may be ascribed to an imperfect pa…
Using recent CLEO III results for the cross section for $e^+e^- \to {\rm hadrons}$ at seven centre-of-mass energies between 6.964 and 10.538 GeV, we derive a value for the strong coupling constant $α_s(M_Z^2)=0.110_{-0.012}^{-0.010}{}_{-0.011}^{+0.010}$ where the uncertainties are uncorrelated and correlated, respectively. Our result differs significantly from the one derived by CLEO III, as a consequence of inclusion of quark mass effects and the proper matching between the effective theories with four and five flavours. Combining this new result with an analysis based on earlier cross sectio…
In this paper we extend the work synthetically presented in Ref.[1] and give theoretical details and complete tables of numerical results. We exploit calculations within a Bethe-Salpeter (BS) formalism adjusted for QCD, in order to extract an ``experimental'' strong coupling α_s^{exp}(Q^2) below 1 GeV by comparison with the meson spectrum. The BS potential follows from a proper ansatz on the Wilson loop to encode confinement and is the sum of a one-gluon-exchange and a confinement terms. Besides, the common perturbative strong coupling is replaced by the ghost-free expression α_E(Q^2) accordin…
The indirect detection of dark matter particles with mass below the GeV scale has recently received significant attention. Future space-borne gamma-ray telescopes, including All-Sky-ASTROGAM, AMEGO, and GECCO, will probe the MeV gamma-ray sky with unprecedented precision, offering an exciting test of particle dark matter in the MeV-GeV mass range. While it is typically assumed that dark matter annihilates into only one Standard Model final state, this is not the case for realistic dark matter models. In this work we analyze existing indirect detection constraints and the discovery reach of fut…
In this work we present a determination of the mass, width and coupling of the resonances that appear in kaon-pion scattering below 1.8 GeV. These are: the much debated scalar $κ$-meson, nowdays known as $K_0^*(800)$, the scalar $K_0^*(1430)$, the $K^*(892)$ and $K_1^*(1410)$ vectors, the spin-two $K_2^*(1430)$ as well as the spin-three $K^*_3(1780)$. The parameters will be determined from the pole associated to each resonance by means of an analytic continuation of the $Kπ$ scattering amplitudes obtained in a recent and precise data analysis constrained with dispersion relations, which were n…
We discuss an inclusive approach to the measurement of the e+e- --> pi+ pi- cross--section by the radiative return method without photon tagging. The essential part of this approach is the choice of rules for event selection which provide rejection of events with 3 (or more) pions and decrease the final--state radiation background. The radiative corrections to the initial--state radiation process are computed for DAPhNE conditions, using the quasi--real electron approximation for both, the cross--section and the underlying kinematics. The two cases of restricted and unrestricted pion phase spa…
Using the CLEO III detector, we measure absolute cross sections for e+e- -> hadrons at seven center-of-mass energies between 6.964 and 10.538 GeV. R, the ratio of hadronic and muon pair production cross sections, is measured at these energies with a r.m.s. error <2% allowing determinations of the strong coupling alpha_s. Using the expected evolution of alpha_s with energy we find alpha_s(M_Z^2)=0.126 +/- 0.005 ^{+0.015}_{-0.011}, and Lambda=0.31^{+0.09+0.29}_{-0.08-0.21}.
We describe the behaviour at threshold of S-wave poles of the scattering matrix within a four-parameter model for non-exotic meson-meson scattering. This model accommodates all non-exotic mesons, hence also the light scalar mesons, as resonances and bound states characterised by complex singularities of the scattering amplitude as a function of the total invariant mass. The majority of the full S-matrix mesonic poles stem from an underlying confinement spectrum. However, the light scalar mesons K0*(830), a0(980), f0(400--1200), and f0(980) do not, but instead originate in 3P0-barrier semi-boun…
A collective treatment of the I=0 scalar mesons below 2 GeV [sigma (550), f0(980), f0(1370), f0(1500) and f0(1710)] in a non-linear chiral Lagrangian framework that is constrained by the mass and the partial decay widths of the I=1/2,1 scalars [kappa(900), K0*(1430), a0(980) and a0(1450)] is presented. The sub-structure of these states in terms of two and four quark components, as well as a glueball component is explored, and its correlation with the mass of f0(1370) is studied. Consistency with the available experimental data suggests that the sigma(550) is dominantly a non-strange four-quark…
A detailed investigation of the reaction np -> ppπ^{-} has been carried out using the data obtained with the continuous neutron beam produced by charge exchange scattering of protons off a deuterium target. A partial wave event-by-event based maximum likelihood analysis was applied to determine contributions of different partial waves to the pion production process. The combined analysis of the np -> ppπ^{-} and pp -> ppπ^{0} data measured in the same energy region allows us to determine the contribution of isoscalar partial waves (I=0) in the momentum range from 1.1 up to 1.8 GeV/c. The decay…
In the model-independent approach consisting in the immediate application to the analysis of experimental data of such general principles as analyticity and unitarity, a confirmation of the $σ$-meson at $\sim$ 665 MeV and an indication for the glueball nature of the $f_0(1500)$ state are obtained on the basis of a simultaneous description of the isoscalar s-wave channel of the $ππ$ scattering (from the threshold up to 1.9 GeV) and of the $ππ\to K\bar{K}$ process (from the threshold to $\sim$ 1.4 GeV where the 2-channel unitarity is valid). A parameterless description of the $ππ$ background is …
Within the relativistic mean-field framework with hadron masses and coupling constants dependent on the mean scalar field we study properties of nuclear matter at finite temperatures, baryon densities and isospin asymmetries relevant for heavy-ion collisions at laboratory energies below 2$A$ GeV. Previously constructed (KVORcut-based and MKVOR-based) models for the description of the cold hadron matter, which differ mainly by the density dependence of the nucleon effective mass and symmetry energy, are extended for finite temperatures. The baryon equation of state, which includes nucleons and …
We argue that the paradoxes associated with infinitely degenerate states, which plague relic particle scenarios for the endpoint of black hole evaporation, may be absent when the relics are horned particles. Most of our arguments are based on simple observations about the classical geometry of extremal dilaton black holes, but at a crucial point we are forced to speculate about classical solutions to string theory in which the infinite coupling singularity of the extremal dilaton solution is shielded by a condensate of massless modes propagating in its infinite horn. We use the nonsingular $c=…
We consider dark matter which have non-zero electromagnetic form factors like electric/magnetic dipole moments and anapole moment for fermionic dark matter and Rayleigh form factor for scalar dark matter. We consider dark matter mass $m_χ> \cal{ O}({\rm MeV})$ and put constraints on their mass and electromagnetic couplings from CMB and LSS observations. Fermionic dark matter with non-zero electromagnetic form factors can annihilate to $e^+ e^-$ and scalar dark matter can annihilate to $2γ$ at the time of recombination and distort the CMB. We analyze dark matter with multipole moments with Plan…
A re-analysis of data from electron-pair production following 160 A GeV 207Pb bombardment of nuclear emulsions indicates the production and decay of neutral particles of significantly lower invariant mass and shorter lifetimes than previously claimed (J. Phys. G: Nucl. Part. Phys. 34 (2007) 129-138).
One of the key experimental issues in high energy hadron physics is the extent to which data from the diffractive interaction mechanism may be described by a factorized formula which is the product of a universal term describing the probability of finding a Pomeron in a proton (loosely referred to as the "Pomeron flux-factor") and a term decribing the Pomeron's interaction with the other incident proton. In the present paper, after demonstrating that existing data on diffractive gamma*-p and pbar-p interactions show that the Pomeron flux-factor is not universal, we present the results of a new…
The direct detection of Dark Matter particles with mass below the GeV-scale is hampered by soft nuclear recoil energies and finite detector thresholds. For a given maximum relative velocity, the kinematics of elastic Dark Matter nucleus scattering sets a principal limit on detectability. Here we propose to bypass the kinematic limitations by considering the inelastic channel of photon emission in the nuclear recoil. Our proposed method allows to set the first limits on Dark Matter below 500 MeV in the plane of Dark Matter mass and cross section with nucleons. In situations where a Dark Matter-…
The contributions into radiative correction parameters S, T, U from scalar leptoquark and scalar gluon doublets are investigated in the minimal four color symmetry model. It is shown that the current experimental data on S, T, U allow the scalar leptoquarks and the scalar gluons to be relatively light (with masses of order of 1 TeV or less), the lightest particles are preferred to lie below 400 GeV. In particular, the lightest scalar leptoquarks with masses below 300 GeV are shown to be compatible with the current data on S, T, U at $χ^2 < 3.1 (3.2)$ for $m_H = 115 (300) GeV$ in comparison wit…
Charm photoproduction rates off nuclei below the nucleon threshold are estimated using the phenomenologically known structure functions both for x>1 and x<1. The rates rapidly fall below the threshold from values of the order 10 pb for Pb close to the threshold (at 7.5 GeV) down to values of the order 1 pb at 6 GeV.
We investigate gravitino dark matter produced thermally at high temperatures and in decays of a long-lived sneutrino. We consider the Non-Universal Higgs Model and a generalized gauge mediation model, and in each case identify sneutrino LOSP regions of the parameter space consistent with the mass of the Higgs-like boson observed at the LHC. We apply relevant collider and cosmological bounds, including constraints from Big Bang Nucleosynthesis and from warm dark matter on large scale structures. Generally, we find allowed values of the reheating temperature TR below 10^9 GeV, i.e. somewhat smal…
We have performed a thorough study of the meson-meson S-waves with isospin (I) 0 and 1/2, up to sqrt(s) ~ 2 GeV. This is the first study that includes 13 channels that have their threshold below that energy. All the resonances below 2 GeV, namely the f_0(600) or sigma, f_0(980), f_0(1370), f_0(1500), f_0(1710) and f_0(1790) for I=0, and the K*_0(800) or kappa, K*_0(1430) and K*_0(1950) for I=1/2, are generated. We can then extract a clear picture of the spectroscopy, finding that the f_0(1710), together with an important contribution to the f_0(1500), are glueballs. Another pole, which corresp…
The production of K+ and K- mesons below and at the NN threshold is summarized, based on a comparison of data with transport model calculations. K+ mesons are created in associate production together with hyperons (e.g. Lambda) in multi-step processes involving Delta resonances. These processes occur mainly during the high-density phase of the collision and this makes the K+ an ideal tool to extract the stiffness of the nuclear equation of state, found to be rather soft with a compressibility modulus K below 240 MeV. In contrast, the major part of K- mesons are produced via strangeness exchang…
In the two Higgs doublet model, perturbativity breaks down below the Planck scale: For top mass values 170-180 GeV, the Yukawa coupling reaches the pole below 1000 TeV, if the ratio of vev's v_u/v_d is below 1. We discuss top condensate scenarios for 150 GeV < m_top < 200 GeV, showing that a version with two composite Higgses is a viable option. Within electroweak gauge extensions the second Higgs does not come with additional parameters, but is dictated by the symmetry.
In the article, we assume the two scalar nonet mesons below and above 1 GeV are all $\bar{q}q$ states, in case I, the scalar mesons below 1 GeV are the ground states, in case II, the scalar mesons above 1 GeV are the ground states. We calculate the $B-S$ form-factors by taking into account the perturbative ${\mathcal{O}}(α_s)$ corrections to the twist-2 terms using the light-cone QCD sum rules and fit the numerical values of the form-factors into the single-pole forms, which have many phenomenological applications.
The Q^2 dependence of inclusive electron-proton scattering F_2 structure function data in both the nucleon resonance region and the deep inelastic region, at momentum transfers below 5 (GeV/c)^2, is investigated. Moments of F_2 are constructed, down to momentum transfers of Q^2 ~ 0.1 (GeV/c)^2. The second moment is only slowly varying with Q^2 down to Q^2 ~ 1 (GeV/c)^2, which is a reflection of duality. Below Q^2 of 1 (GeV/c)^2, the Q^2 dependence of the moments is predominantly governed by the elastic contribution, whereas the inelastic channels still seem governed by local duality.
The ATLAS and CMS experiments did not find evidence for Supersymmetry using close to 5/fb of published LHC data at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. We combine these LHC data with data on B_s -> mu mu (LHCb experiment), the relic density (WMAP and other cosmological data) and upper limits on the dark matter scattering cross sections on nuclei (XENON100 data). The excluded regions in the constrained Minimal Supersymmetric SM (CMSSM) lead to gluinos excluded below 1270 GeV and dark matter candidates below 220 GeV for values of the scalar masses (m_0) below 1500 GeV. For large m_0 values the limi…
The sentence, 11th line below Eq. (30), starting with "Further in [14] one has included all interference terms ...." is wrong and has been corrected. Second line below Eq. (40) m_bar(m)=m is replaced by m_bar(μ_0)=μ_0 with μ_0=4.10 GeV, μ_0=1.30 GeV and μ_0=166.1 GeV for bottom, charm and top respectively. The numbers in the second and third column of table 3 are a little bit changed. In the acknowledgement the funding agency is mentioned and one reference i.e. [20] is added.
The contributions into radiative correction parameters S, T, U from scalar leptoquark and scalar gluon doublets are investigated in the minimal four color symmetry model. It is shown that the existence of the relatively light scalar leptoquarks and scalar gluons (with masses of order of 1 TeV or less) is consistent with the current experimental data on S, T, U and the more light particles (with masses below 400 GeV) improve the fit. In particular, the lightest scalar leptoquarks with masses below 300 GeV are consistent with the current data on S, T, U at $χ^2 < 3.1(3.2)$ for $m_H=115(300) GeV$…
Within the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) the Higgs masses and LEP II production cross sections are calculated for a wide range of the parameter space. In addition, the parameter space restricted by unification, electroweak symmetry breaking and other low energy constraints is considered in detail, in which case the masses of all SUSY partners can be estimated, so that their contributions to the radiative corrections can be calculated. Explicit analytical formulae for these contribution are derived. The radiative corrections from the Yukawa couplings of the third…
Motivated by the recent PAMELA and ATIC data, one is led to a scenario with heavy vector-like dark matter in association with a hidden $U(1)_X$ sector below GeV scale. Realizing this idea in the context of gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking (GMSB), a heavy scalar component charged under $U(1)_X$ is found to be a good dark matter candidate which can be searched for direct scattering mediated by the Higgs boson and/or by the hidden gauge boson. The latter turns out to put a stringent bound on the kinetic mixing parameter between $U(1)_X$ and $U(1)_Y$: $θ\lesssim 10^{-6}$. For the typical rang…
We explore the possibility of a fourth generation in the gauge-coupling-unified, minimal supersymmetric (MSSM) framework. We find that a sequential fourth generation (with a heavy neutrino $ν'$) can still fit, surviving all present experimental constraints, provided $λ_b(M_U)=λ_τ(M_U)$ Yukawa unification is relaxed. For the theory to remain perturbative up to $M_U$, the new leptonic generation must lie within reach of LEP-II and the new $b',t'$ must have masses within the reach of the Tevatron. For example, for $\mt>150\gev$ we find $m_{ν'},m_{τ'}< 86\gev$, $m_{t'}<178$, and $m_{b'}<156\gev$. …
Possible indirect detection of neutralino, through its gamma-ray annihilation product, by the forthcoming GLAST satellite from our galactic halo, M31, M87 and the dwarf galaxies Draco and Sagittarius is studied. Gamma-ray fluxes are evaluated for the two representative energy thresholds, 0.1 GeV and 1.0 GeV, at which the spatial resolution of GLAST varies considerably. Apart from dwarfs which are described either by a modified Plummer profile or by a tidally-truncated King profiles, fluxes are compared for halos with central cusps and cores. It is demonstrated that substructures, irrespective …
Seesaw mechanism constrains from below mixing between active and sterile neutrinos for fixed sterile neutrino masses. Signal events associated with sterile neutrino decays inside a detector at fixed target experiment are suppressed by the mixing angle to the power of four. Therefore sensitivity of experiments such as SHiP and DUNE should take into account minimal possible values of the mixing angles. We extend the previous study of this subject arXiv:1312.2887 to a more general case of non-zero CP-violating phases in the neutrino sector. Namely, we provide numerical estimate of minimal value o…
I present a method for evaluating the hadronic vacuum polarization contribution below 1 GeV to a_μwhich relies on analyticity, unitarity and chiral symmetry, as well as on data. The main advantage is that in the region just above threshold, where data are either scarce or have large errors, these theoretical constraints are particularly strong, and therefore allow us to reduce the uncertainties with respect to a purely data-based evaluation. Some preliminary numerical results are presented as illustration of the method.
