在事件视界望远镜(EHT)成功提供首张黑洞图像的辉煌成就期间,已有大量论文探讨不同天体物理环境对黑洞几何的影响。受关于引力波如何影响Schwarzschild黑洞阴影的工作[Eur. Phys.
During the glorious success of the EHT in providing the first image of a black hole, numerous papers have been published about the effect of different astrophysical environments on black hole geometry. Motivated by the work on how gravitational wave affects the shadow of a Schwarzschild black hole [Eur. Phys. J. C 10.1140/epjc/s10052-021-09287-2], we extend it by considering a quantum correction on the black hole through the extended uncertainty principle (EUP). Along with this correction, we probe the gravitational wave's effect on the null geodesics, and photonsphere, and find constraints to the gravitational wave parameter $ε$ using the black hole shadow of M87* for some given test value for the gravitational wave frequency $σ$. Not only that some nodes were found in the light trajectory, but the general behavior of paths changes in a periodic way as the time $t$ progresses. These patterns then confirm the chaotic formation of the shadow seen by some remote observer. Finally, the constraint that we find for $ε$ is $~10^{-10}$ orders of magnitude for the effect of the gravitational wave to be seen at a distance of $D = 16.8$ Mpc. As a consequence of such a value for $ε$, another result reveals that while there is are gravitational wave effect on the shadow perceived at $D$, the deviations on the photonsphere are nearly non-existent. Apart from Earth-based detectors for gravitational waves, the study implies the possibility of an alternative detection method especially if a gravitational wave source is near a lone black hole.
We consider a black hole mimicker given by an exact solution of the stationary and axially symmetric field equations in vacuum known as the $δ$-Kerr metric. We study its optical properties based on a ray-tracing code for photon motion and characterize the apparent shape of the shadow of the compact object and compare it with the Kerr black hole. For the purpose of obtaining qualitative estimates related to the observed shadow of the supermassive compact object in the galaxy M87 we focus on values of the object's spin $a$ and inclination angle of observation $θ_0$ close to the measured values. …
In this paper we study the effect of the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) on the shadow of GUP-modified Kerr black hole and the correspondence between the shadow radius and the real part of the quasinormal modes (QNMs). We find that the shadow curvature radius of the GUP-modfied Kerr black hole is bigger compared to the Kerr vacuum solution and increases linearly monotonically with the increase of the GUP parameter. We then investigate the characteristic points of intrinsic curvature of the shadow from a topological point of view to calculate the the angular size for these curvature rad…
A constraint on the tidal charge generated within a brane world is shown. Using the shadow of a rotating black hole in a brane context in order to describe the M87* parameters recently announced by the Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration, the deviation from circularity of the reported shadow produces an upper bound on the bulk's nonlocal effect, which is conceived of as a tidal charge in the four-dimensional brane induced by the five-dimensional bulk. Therefore, a deviation from circularity $\lesssim 10\%$ leads to an upper bound on the tidal charge $\lesssim 0.004M^2$.
We study the strong gravitational lensing effect around rotating black holes in different gravity theories. By calculating the deflection angle of strong gravitational lensing, we evaluate the lensing observables including the image position, separation, magnification and the time delays between the relativistic images of different rotating black holes. We argue that the differences in image positions, separations between the rotating black hole in modified gravity (MOG) theory and the Kerr black hole in general relativity (GR) are more significant in SgrA* than those in M87*, however the diff…
We construct a charged rotating black hole in 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) gravity starting from charged black hole in 4D EGB gravity using complex coordinate transformations suggested by Newman-Janis. Further, we have studied the null geodesics to investigate the shape of the shadow cast by a rotating charged black hole in 4D EGB gravity. Also we have discussed their horizon properties and shadow cast. The phenomenon of black hole shadows alongwith the horizon structure and energy emission has been analysed to see the influence of Gauss-Bonnet term and black hole charge on horizon, shadow, …
In this paper, we discuss optical properties of the topologically charged rotating black hole. We study the horizon, the photon region, the shadow of the black hole and other observables. The results show that in addition to the black hole spin parameter $a$, the other two parameters, tidal charge $β$ and electric charge $q$, are also found to affect the horizon, the photon region and the black hole shadow. In a certain range, with the increase of the three parameters, the horizon distance, shape of the photon region and the black hole shadow will all shrink. Moreover, with the increase of the…
First sketch of black hole from M87 galaxy was obtained by Event Horizon Telescope, recently. As appearance of black hole shadow reflects space-time geometry of black holes, observations of black hole shadow may be a promising way to test general relativity in strong field regime. In this paper, we focus on angular radius of spherical black hole shadow with respect to freely falling observers. In the framework of general relativity, aberration formulation and angular radius-gravitational redshift relation are presented. For the sake of intuitive, we consider parametrized Schwarzschild black ho…
In this paper, we first analyze the horizon structure of the acoustic charged black hole in curved spacetime, and then study its acoustic shadow as well as the near-horizon characteristics including the quasinormal modes (QNM) frequencies and analogue Hawking radiation. We find that the radius of the acoustic shadow for acoustic charged black hole is larger than that for Reissner-Nordström (RN) black hole, and both of them are suppressed by increasing the black hole charge because their related outer horizons become smaller. Then the QNM frequencies under scalar field perturbation and its eiko…
Combined with the observation of M87*, shadow has gradually became a promising test of the black hole nature. Recently, EHT collaboration gave new constraints on the shadow size at 68\% confidence levels. In this work, we consider the new constrains on the black hole spin and charge for the Kerr and Kerr-Newmann black holes via the local curvature radius. For the Kerr black holes, the cases with high spin and large inclination angle are ruled out. For the Kerr-Newmann black holes, two new characteristic constrained patterns for low and high black hole spins are given. Near extremal black holes…
Due to the gravitational lensing effect, a black hole casts a shadow larger than its horizon over a bright background, and the shape and size can be calculated. The Event Horizon Telescope collaboration has produced the first direct image (shadow) of the black hole and it is in accordance with the shadow of a Kerr black hole of general relativity. However, deviations from the Kerr black hole arising from modified theories of gravity are not ruled out and they are important as they offer an arena to test these theories through astrophysical observation. This stimulates us to investigate rotatin…
The recent observation of the shadow of the supermassive compact object M87$^*$ by the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) collaboration has opened up a new window to probe the strong gravity regime. In this paper, we study shadows cast by two viable alternatives to the Kerr black hole, and compare them with the shadow of M87$^{*}$. The first alternative is a horizonless compact object (HCO) having radius $r_0$ and exterior Kerr geometry. The second one is a rotating generalisation of the recently obtained one parameter ($r_0$) static metric by Simpson and Visser. This latter metric, constructed by …
We study the physical properties of four-dimensional, string-theoretical, horizonless "fuzzball" geometries by imaging their shadows. Their microstructure traps light rays straying near the would-be horizon on long-lived, highly redshifted chaotic orbits. In fuzzballs sufficiently near the scaling limit this creates a shadow much like that of a black hole, while avoiding the paradoxes associated with an event horizon. Observations of the shadow size and residual glow can potentially discriminate between fuzzballs away from the scaling limit and alternative models of black compact objects.
In this paper we study the possibility of having a wormhole (WH) as a candidate for the Sgr A$^\star$ central object and test this idea by constraining their geometry using the motion of S2 star and the reconstructed shadow images. In particular, we consider three WH models, including WHs in Einstein theory, brane-world gravity, and Einstein-Dirac-Maxwell theory. To this end, we have constrained the WH throat using the motion of S2 star and shown that the flare out condition is satisfied. We also consider the accretion of infalling gas model and study the accretion rate and the intensity of th…

The dependence of the black hole (BH) shadow and thermodynamics may be structured in the regular spacetime. Taking the regular Bardeen-AdS BH as an example, the relationship between the shadow radius and the event horizon radius is derived. It is found that these two radii display a positive correlation, implying that the BH temperature can be rewritten as a function of shadow radius in the regular spacetime. By analyzing the phase transition curves under the shadow context, we found that the shadow radius can replace the event horizon radius to present the BH phase transition process, and the…

We find that the Kerr-(Newman)-AdS$_4$ black hole will be shadowless if its rotation parameter is larger than a critical value and the shadowless-ness may be related to the appearance of the null hypersurface caustics (NHC) both inside the Cauchy horizon and outside the event horizon for the black hole with the rotation parameter beyond the critical value. Our studies also further confirm that whether an ultraspinning black hole is super-entropic or not is unrelated to the existence of the NHC outside the event horizon.

Observations of black hole shadows with the Event Horizon Telescope have paved way for a novel approach to testing Einstein's theory of general relativity. Early analyses of the measured shadow put constraints on theory-agnostic parameters typically used to study deviations from Einstein's theory, but the robustness of these constraints was called into question. In this letter, we use a generic theory-agnostic metric to study the robustness of parameter estimation with BH shadows, taking into consideration current measurements made with the Event Horizon Telescope and future measurements expec…

The role of the wandering null geodesic is studied in a black hole spacetime. Based on the continuity of the solution of the geodesic equation, the wandering null geodesics commonly exist and explain the typical phenomena of the optical observation of event horizons. Moreover, a new concept of `black room' is investigated to relate the wandering null geodesic to the black hole shadow more closely.
Simulated images of a black hole surrounded by optically thin emission typically display two main features: a central brightness depression and a narrow, bright "photon ring" consisting of strongly lensed images superposed on top of the direct emission. The photon ring closely tracks a theoretical curve on the image plane corresponding to light rays that asymptote to unstably bound photon orbits around the black hole. This critical curve has a size and shape that are purely governed by the Kerr geometry; in contrast, the size, shape, and depth of the observed brightness depression all depend o…
