Collider signatures with top quarks provide sensitive probes of dark matter (DM) production at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In this article, we review the results of DM searches in final states with top quarks conducted by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations at the LHC, including the most recent results on the full LHC Run 2 dataset. We highlight the complementarity of DM searches in final states with top quarks with searches in other final states in the framework of various simplified models of DM. A re-interpretation of a DM search with top quarks in the context of an effective-field theory description of scalar dark energy is also discussed. Finally, we give an outlook on the potential of DM searches with top quarks in LHC Run 3, at the high-luminosity LHC, and possible future colliders. In this context, we highlight new benchmark models that could be probed by existing and future searches as well as those that predict still uncovered signatures of anomalous top-quark production and decays at the LHC.
This is a brief pedagogic introduction to searches for new physics with top quarks. It covers indirect searches for heavy new particles based on standard model effective theory and direct searches for new signatures of a light hidden sector. LHC and flavor observables complement and strengthen each other in this endeavor.
We present projections for future collider searches for dark matter produced in association with bottom or top quarks. Such production channels give rise to final states with missing transverse energy and one or more b-jets. Limits are given assuming an effective scalar operator coupling dark matter to quarks, where the dedicated analysis discussed here improves significantly over a generic monojet analysis. We give updated results for an anticipated high-luminosity LHC run at 14 TeV and for a 33 TeV hadron collider.
Heavy vector-like quarks coupled to a scalar $S$ will induce a coupling of this scalar to gluons and possibly (if electrically charged) photons. The decay of the heavy quark into $Sq$, with $q$ being a Standard Model quark, provides, if kinematically allowed, new channels for heavy quark searches. Inspired by naturalness considerations, we consider the case of a vector-like partner of the top quark. For illustration, we show that a singlet partner can be searched for at the 13$\,$TeV LHC through its decay into a scalar resonance in the $2γ+\ell + X$ final states, especially if the diphoton bra…
If only tree-level processes are included in the analysis, LHC monojet searches give weak constraints on the dark matter-proton scattering cross section arising from the exchange of a new heavy scalar or pseudoscalar mediator with Yukawa-like couplings to quarks. In this letter we calculate the constraints on these interactions from the CMS 5.0/fb and ATLAS 4.7/fb searches for jets with missing energy including the effects of heavy-quark loops. We find that the inclusion of such contributions leads to a dramatic increase in the predicted cross section and therefore a significant improvement of…
Measurements of single top and rare top quark production may be sensitive to theories of physics beyond the standard model (SM), including those in which the energy scale of new physics is beyond the energies directly accessible at the Large Hadron Collider. Such models may be observable through signatures like forbidden SM interactions or deviations of the top quark's couplings from the SM predictions. An overview of recent searches from the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations is presented, with a focus on flavor-changing neutral currents.
We study direct searches of additional Higgs bosons in multi-top-quarks events at the LHC Run-II, its luminosity upgraded version with 3000 fb$^{-1}$, and the International Linear Collider (ILC) with the collision energy of 1 TeV. Additional Higgs bosons are predicted in all kinds of extended Higgs sectors, and their detection at collider experiments is a clear signature of the physics beyond the standard model. We consider two Higgs doublet models with the discrete symmetry as benchmark models. If these additional Higgs bosons are heavy enough, the decay modes including top quarks can be domi…
Top quark flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) interactions are highly suppressed in the Standard Model. Therefore, any large signal of FCNCs will indicate the existence of new interactions. In this paper, searches for FCNC interactions in top quark production and decay at the Tevatron and LHC are presented. FCNC searches in $t\rightarrow qZ$ and $t\rightarrow Hq$ decays, and in top quark production in $pp\rightarrow t+j$, $pp\rightarrow t+Z$ are summarized. Effect of top quark FCNCs on single top quark cross-section, and the searches for same-sign top quark pair production through FCNCs are…
This is a brief summary of the latest searches for virtual effects of new physics in the top sector. In the framework of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT), I show how to resolve the structure of effective couplings by combining observables at the LHC and at flavor experiments in a global fit. With this approach we start exploring the features of a UV theory at energies beyond current colliders.
FCC-hh is a proposed future energy-frontier hadron collider, which goal is to provide high luminosity proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 100 TeV. The FCC-hh has an extremely rich physics program ranging from standard model (SM) measurements to direct searches for physics beyond the standard model (BSM). One of the processes sensitive to new physics is flavour-changing neutral currents (FCNC) that extremely rare in the SM but have enhanced behavior in several BSM scenarios. In this report we present results of projections of FCNC searches in top quark interactions to the FCC-hh con…
Pair production of new vector-like quarks in $pp$ collisions is considered model independent as it is usually dominated by QCD production. Nonetheless, the presence of a new massive color octet (heavy gluon) in some composite Higgs models may modify the pair production rate of vector-like quarks. This scenario is considered and the possible differences between the usual QCD production and the production mediated via heavy gluons is studied. The sensitivity to these differences in the LHC (run-1 and run-2) are studied. No sizeable differences have been found, which suggests that the published e…
Pair production of new vector-like quarks in pp collisions is considered model independent as it is usually dominated by QCD production. We discuss the interpretation of vector-like quark searches in the case that QCD is not the only relevant production mechanism for the new quarks. In particular we consider the effect of a new massive color octet vector boson with sizeable decay branching ratio into the new quarks. We pay special attention to the sensitivity of the Large Hadron Collider experiments, both in run-1 and early run-2, to differences in the kinematical distributions from the differ…
New vector-like quarks can have sizable couplings to first generation quarks without conflicting with current experimental constraints. The coupling with valence quarks and unique kinematics make single production the optimal discovery process. We perform a model-independent analysis of the discovery reach at the Large Hadron Collider for new vector-like quarks considering single production and subsequent decays via electroweak interactions. An early LHC run with 7 TeV center of mass energy and 1 fb-1 of integrated luminosity can probe heavy quark masses up to 1 TeV and can be competitive with…
A search for new heavy quarks focusing on recent vector-like quark searches with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider is presented. Two recent searches targeting the pair production of type vector-like quarks are described. The first search is sensitive to vector-like up-type quark ($T$) decays to a $t$ quark and either a Standard Model Higgs boson or a $Z$ boson. The second search is primarily sensitive to $T$ decays to $W$ boson and a $b$ quark. Additionally, the results can be interpreted for alternative VLQ decays.
Many models beyond the standard model predict the existence of vector-like quarks or other types of heavy resonances. Using proton-proton collision data at center-of-mass energies of 8 and 13 TeV, the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations have performed a multitude of searches for pair and singly produced vector-like quarks decaying to W, Z, or Higgs bosons. Heavy gauge and (pseudo)scalar resonances decaying to top quarks have been searched for as well. No evidence for any of these hypothetical particles has been found yet, and stringent exclusion limits are derived on their masses, cross sections and …
Many composite Higgs models predict the existence of vector-like quarks with masses outside the reach of the LHC, e.g. $m_Q \gtrsim 2$ TeV, in particular if these models contain a dark matter candidate. In such models the mass of the new resonances is bounded from above to satisfy the constraint from the observed relic density. We therefore develop new strategies to search for vector-like quarks at a future $100$ TeV collider and evaluate what masses and interactions can be probed. We find that masses as large as $\sim 6.4$ ($\sim 9$) TeV can be tested if the fermionic resonances decay into St…
Searches for supersymmetric partner particles of the top and bottom quarks at the Large Hadron Collider are reviewed. The focus is on the status of searches for a relatively light partner of the top quark performed by the CMS and ATLAS Collaborations. No excess beyond Standard Model expectations is observed and exclusion limits are set on the masses of supersymmetric particles.
General limits on exotic heavy quarks T, B and X with masses above 300 GeV are presented for arbitrary branching fractions of T=>Wb, T=>Zt, T=>Ht, B=>Wt, B=>Zb, B=>Hb and X=>Wt. The results are based on a CMS search in final states with three isolated leptons (electron or muon) or two isolated leptons with the same electric charge. Exotic heavy quark pair production through the strong interaction is considered. In the context of vector-like quark models, T quarks with a mass mT < 480 GeV and mT < 550 GeV are excluded for weak isospin singlets and doublets, respectively, and B quarks with a mas…
We report on a search for vector-like quarks and leptoquarks at D0. In the absence of any significant excess over the expectations, we present the most stringent limits to date.
In 2012 the discovery of the Higgs boson by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations set a milestone in particle physics by finding the missing piece of the Standard Model. Nonetheless some questions are still open: the origin of the mass of the neutrino and finding the missing candidate for dark matter are some examples. One of the main issues with the Standard Model is the hierarchy problem which appears when trying to go to high energy scales at which the theory cannot accommodate corrections large enough to explain the observed nature. Vector-like quarks appear naturally in some non-supersymmetric…
Two of the most important parameters in supersymmetry are the masses of the stop and sbottom, the supersymmetric partners of the third generation quarks. A stop mass lighter than 1 TeV is favored theoretically, however, conventional searches based on the simplified models have not produced experimental evidence for a light stop. It is possible that the light stop evades our searches due to a compressed sparticle mass spectrum. Therefore, the searches are extended to cover a broader range of signal scenarios with different mass splittings between the stop, neutralino(s), and chargino(s). The se…
Vector-like Quarks (VLQs) are potential signatures of physics beyond the Standard Model at the TeV energy scale and major efforts have been put forward at both ATLAS and CMS experiments in search of these particles. In order to make these search results more relatable in the context of most plausible theories of VLQs, it is deemed important to present the analysis results in a general fashion. We investigate the challenges associated with such interpretations of singly produced VLQ searches and propose a generalized, semi-analytical framework that allows a model-independent casting of the resu…
We explore the implications of the mono-lepton plus missing transverse energy signature at the LHC, and point out its significance on understanding how dark matter interacts with quarks, where the signature arises from dark matter pair production together with a leptonically decaying W boson radiated from the initial state quarks. We derive limits using the existing W' searches at the LHC, and find an interesting interference between the contributions from dark matter couplings to up-type and down-type quarks. Mono-leptons can actually furnish the strongest current bound on dark matter interac…
This proceeding presents searches for Dark Matter particles produced in association with top quarks at the LHC. The searches are performed by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations and various models and topologies are investigated. They are exploiting tt and single top experimental signatures by searching for an excess of missing transverse energy. No signs of Dark Matter particles haven been observed and limits on the models are set.
Flavour-changing neutral-current interactions of the top quark can be searched for in top-quark pair production with one top quark decaying to an up-type quark and a neutral boson, and they can be searched for in the single production of a top quark in association with such a boson. Both processes interfere if an additional up-type quark is produced in the case of single production. The impact of these interference effects on searches for flavour-changing neutral currents at the LHC is studied for the case where the neutral boson is a photon or a $Z$ boson. Interference effects are found to be…
Due to its high mass and short lifetime, the top quark plays an important role in checking the Standard Model of particle physics. In this report, we pr\ esent a variety of searches for physics beyond the Standard Model, involving top quarks, at the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Specifically, we present searches in top quark pair production, single top quark production and top quark decays. The search spectra discussed here involve a search for $t\bar{t}$ resonances, associated production of Higgs bosons and $t\bar{t}$, charged Higgs bosons and heavy gauge $W^{'}$ bosons. Furt…
Searches for the supersymmetric partners of top and bottom quarks using data up to 340 pb$^{-1}$ taken at the Tevatron $p\bar{p}$ collider are described. We report on searches for scalar top quarks $\tilde{t}$ in the decays $\tilde{t}\to c \tildeχ_1^0$ and $\tilde{t}\to bl\tildeν$ and for scalar bottom quarks $\tilde{b}$ in the decay $\tilde{b}\to b \tildeχ_1^0$. No evidence for a signal has been found, but improved exclusion regions have been derived in the framework of a generic minimal superymmetric extension of the standard model.
Leptoquarks (LQ) with couplings to the third generation of Standard Model (SM) quarks have been proposed as possible explanations of the flavour anomalies indicating the violation of lepton flavour universality (LFV). The CMS collaboration has initiated an extensive search programme for these new states in the LHC run-2 data recorded at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV. In this article, the CMS search results in the LQ pair-production final states $τb\,τb$, $νt\,νt$, $νb\,νb$, $τt\,τt$, and $μt\,μt$, as well as in the LQ single-production final state $τ\,τb$ are discussed. No significant deviation from the S…
We study resonances decaying to one top quark and one additional quark (b or c) at the low- luminosity and high-luminosity 14 TeV LHC and at a future 33 TeV hadron collider in the context of Snowmass 2013. A heavy W boson that preferentially couples to quarks can be found through its decay to tb. A Kaluza-Klein gluon might have a significant branching ratio to tc. The final state in these searches has a lepton and neutrino from a W boson decay plus two jets, at least one of which is b-tagged. We give expected limits as a function of W boson and KKg masses for different collider energy and inte…
The Tevatron proton-antiproton collider at Fermilab with its centre of mass energy of 1.96 TeV allows for pair production of top quarks and the study of top quark decay properties. This report reflects the current status of measurements of the W boson helicity in top quark decays and the ratio of top quark branching fractions as well as searches for neutral current top quark decays and pair production of fourth generation t' quarks, performed by the D0 Collaboration utilising datasets of up to 5.4/fb.
We present measurements of the tWb coupling form factors using information from electroweak single top quark production and from the helicity of W bosons from top quark decays in ttbar events. We set upper limits on anomalous tWb coupling form factors using data collected with the D0 detector at the Tevatron ppbar collider corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb^-1.
Limits on an exotic heavy quark $T$ are broadly generalized by considering the full range of $T\rightarrow Wb, th$ or $tZ$ branching ratios. We combine results of specific $T\rightarrow tZ$ and $T\rightarrow Wb$ searches with limits on various combinations of decay modes evaluated by re-interpreting other searches. We find strong bounds across the entire space of branching ratios, ranging from $m_T > 415$ GeV to $m_T > 557$ GeV at 95% confidence level.
An overview of recent searches with top quarks in the final state using up to 36 fb$^{-1}$ of pp collision data at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV collected with the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the LHC is presented. In particular, searches for heavy resonances decaying into third generation quarks, searches for production of vector-like quarks and searches for dark-matter produced in association with top quarks are summarised. No significant excess over the SM prediction is found and 95% CL exclusion limits are set in a variety of models.
Results from searches for new particles with enhanced couplings to third-generation quarks are presented. They are based on proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded by the CMS experiment. The signatures include single and pair production of vector-like quarks and heavy resonances decaying to third-generation quarks. A wide range of final states, from multi-leptonic to entirely hadronic is covered. Jet substructure techniques are employed to identify highly boosted heavy standard model particles in their hadronic decay modes.
We obtain contraints on three Universal Extra Dimensional models utilizing limits from the CMS Collaboration on W' production and decay into a single-top-quark final state. We find a weak constraint on the Minimal Universal Extra Dimensions model due to small Kaluza-Klein number violating terms. In contrast, the W' search puts a strong limit on the size of the Dirac mass term of the quarks in Split Universal Extra Dimension models. In Non-minimal Universal Extra Dimension models the W' search constrains the splitting between the boundary localized kinetic terms of the gauge bosons and the quar…
Searches for scalar top and scalar bottom quarks, as well as for mass-degenerate scalar quarks of the first two families are performed at 189 GeV centre-of-mass energy with the L3 detector at LEP. No signals are observed. Model-independent limits on the scalar top production cross sections are determined for the decay modes t1~ -> c chi_1^0 and t1~ -> b l nu~. For scalar quarks of the other flavours q~ -> q chi_1^0 decays are considered. Within the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model mass limits are set at 95% C.L. for these particles. Indirect limits on the gluino mass are …
We propose a novel method in that quark-gluon tagging of the jets emitted as initial state radiation (ISR) can boost searches of invisible Higgs from gluon fusion processes against irreducible electroweak vector boson productions. While quark ISR typically takes up a dominant portion than gluon in the background processes mainly by frequent quark-gluon initiated hard scatterings at the LHC, gluon ISR portion in the gluon fusion can be significantly larger in the central region of detector. Focusing on invisible Higgs searches using jet substructure variables capturing the new features, we demo…
Searches for top quark-associated physics such as $t\bar t W$ or $t\bar t H$ in final states with multiple leptons require a careful accounting of expected backgrounds due to the lack of reconstructible resonances. We demonstrate that the rare top quark decays $t \to \ell' νb \ell\ell$ and $t \to q q' b \ell\ell$, when a soft lepton is not detected, can contribute a non-negligible background to such searches. Simulations in the LHC experiments typically do not account for such decays and as such backgrounds to such searches may be underestimated.
We present searches for pair-production of fourth generation tprime quarks in their decays to Wq. We analyse 4.6 fb-1 and 4.3 fb-1 of data collected by the CDF and D0 detectors, respectively, at the Fermilab Tevatron collider at a centre-of-mass energy of sqrt s = 1.96 TeV. We reconstruct the mass of the heavy quark and perform a two-dimensional-fit to the observed (HT, Mreco) distributions to discriminate the new physics signal from standard model backgrounds. As no significant excess of events is observed, we exclude a fourth-generation tprime quark with a mass below 335 (296) GeV at 95%CL a…
Searches for new leptophobic resonances at high energy colliders usually target their decay modes into pairs of light quarks, top quarks, or standard model bosons. Additional decay modes may also be present, producing signatures to which current searches are not sensitive. We investigate the performance of generic searches that look for resonances decaying into two large-radius jets. As benchmark for our analysis we use a supersymmetric $\text{U}(1)'$ extension of the Standard Model, the so-called U$μν$SSM, where all the SM decay modes of the $Z'$ boson take place, plus additional (cascade) de…
We systematically study model-independent constraints on the three generic charged Higgs couplings to $b$-quarks and up-type quarks. While existing LHC searches have focussed on the $tb$ coupling, we emphasize that the LHC plays a crucial role in probing also $ub$ and $cb$ couplings, since constraints from flavor physics are weak. In particular we propose various new searches that can significantly extend the present reach on the parameter space by: i) looking for light charged Higgses that decay into $ub$-quarks, ii) probing charged Higgs couplings to light and top quarks using multi-$b$-jet …
Heavy vector-like quarks with electric charge $Q=2/3$ (also called \textit{heavy tops}) appear naturally in many extensions of the Standard Model. Although these typically predict the existence of further particles below the TeV scale, direct searches for heavy tops have been performed assuming that they decay only into SM particles. The aim of this paper is to overcome this situation. We consider the most constraining experimental LHC searches for vector-like quarks, including analyses of the 36 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected in the latest run at 13 TeV of center of mass energy, as well as searc…
We study the production of a top-quark pair in association with one and two vector bosons, $t \bar t V$ and $t \bar t VV$ with $V=γ, Z, W^\pm$, at the LHC. We provide predictions at next-to-leading order in QCD for total cross sections and top-quark charge asymmetries as well as for differential distributions. A thorough discussion of the residual theoretical uncertainties related to missing higher orders and to parton distribution functions is presented. As an application, we calculate the total cross sections for this class of processes (together with $t \bar t H$ and $t \bar t t \bar t$ pro…
The Tevatron experiments CDF and D0 investigated the top quark decay in search of deviations from the Standard Model. Rare processes expected in the Standard Model as well as decays including hypothetical particles of models beyond the Standard Model were investigated. This contribution gives an overview of the studies that were performed with datasets of up to 7.5fb^-1 of integrated luminosity.
We apply LHC data to constrain a simplified extension of the Standard Model containing a new spin-1 mediator $R$, which does not couple to first generation quarks, and a spinor dark matter particle $χ$. We recast ATLAS and CMS searches for final states containing one or more jet(s) + missing $E_T$, with or without $b$ tags, as well as searches for di-jet resonances with $b$ or $t$ tagging. We find that LHC constraints on the axial vector couplings of the mediator are always stronger than the unitarity bound, which scales like $m_R/m_t$. If $R$ has a sizable invisible branching ratio, the stron…
Vector-like quarks (VLQ) that couple preferentially to third-generation Standard Model (SM) quarks are a well-motivated extension of the SM, which could solve in particular the hierarchy problem. While VLQs can be produced in pairs via the strong interaction at the LHC, the cross section for single production may be larger than the pair production cross section for VLQ masses above the current exclusion limits. An overview of the searches for the single production of VLQs at the ATLAS experiment that use data taken at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to up to 79.8 fb$^{-1}$, is…
Searches for vector-like quarks and $t\bar{t}$ resonances are performed with the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider using an integrated luminosity of 14.3~fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collisions recorded in 2012 at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = $ 8~TeV. Several final states have been exploited to carry out these searches such as lepton plus jets and opposite and same-sign dilepton final states. No significant excess of events above the Standard Model expectation is observed, and upper limits at 95$\%$ CL are derived for vector-like quarks of various masses in a two-dimensiona…
New Physics searches at the LHC rely very heavily on the precision and accuracy of Standard Model background predictions. Applying the spin-0 $s$-channel mediator model, we assess the importance of properly modelling such backgrounds in $t\bar{t}$ associated Dark Matter production. Specifically, we discuss higher-order corrections and off-shell effects for the two dominant background processes $t\bar{t}$ and $t\bar{t}Z$ in the presence of extremely exclusive cuts. Exclusion limits are calculated for state-of-the-art NLO full off-shell $t\bar{t}$ and $t\bar{t}Z$ predictions and compared to thos…
Searches are presented for physics beyond the Standard Model involving top-quark and related signatures. The results are based on proton-proton collision data corresponding to integrated luminosities between 1 fb-1 and 5 fb-1 collected at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV with the ATLAS and CMS detectors at the Large Hadron Collider in 2011. The data are found to be consistent with the Standard Model. The non-observation of a signal is converted to limits at the 95% confidence level on the production cross section times branching ratio and on the masses of the hypothesized new particles for app…
Partial top quark compositeness is a crucial aspect of theories with strong electroweak symmetry breaking. Together with the heavy top partners that lift the top quark mass to its observed value, these theories predict correlated modifications of the top quark's electroweak couplings. Associated measurements therefore provide direct constraints on the ultraviolet structure of the underlying hypercolour dynamics. In this paper we employ a minimal version of top compositeness to discuss how measurements related to the top's electroweak gauge interactions can inform the potential composite nature…
Theories which provide a dynamical explanation for the large top-quark mass often include TeV-scale vector-like top-quark and bottom-quark partner states which can be potentially discovered at the LHC. These states are currently probed through model-independent searches for pair-production via gluon fusion, as well as through model-dependent complementary electroweak single production. In this paper we study the potential to extend those searches for the partners of the third-generation Standard Model quarks on the basis of their expected chromomagnetic interactions. We discuss how current sea…
Searches are presented for heavy gauge bosons decaying into a top and a bottom quark in data collected by the CMS experiment at sqrt(s) = 13 TeV that correspond to an integrated luminosity of 2.2 and 2.6 inverse femtobarns in the leptonic and hadronic analyses, respectively. Two final states are analyzed, one containing a single electron, or muon, and missing transverse momentum, and the other containing multiple jets and no electrons or muons. No evidence is found for a right-handed W' boson (W'[R]) and the combined analyses exclude at 95% confidence level W'[R] with masses below 2.4 TeV if M…
In our recent paper, we have investigated the potential for the LHC to discover vector-like quark partner states singly produced via their chromomagnetic moment interactions. These production mechanisms extend traditional searches which rely on pair-production of top-quark partner states or on the single production of these states through electroweak interactions, in the sense of providing greatly increased reach in parameter space regions where traditional searches are insensitive. In this study we determine the potential of both the 14 TeV high-luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) and a 100 TeV proton-pr…
The top quark, discovered in 1995 by the CDF and D0 collaborations at the Tevatron collider at Fermilab, is the heaviest known elementary particle today. Due to its high mass and short lifetime, the top quark plays a special role in searching for physics beyond the Standard Model. In this article, recent results of searches for new physics in the top sector, performed by CDF and D0, are presented. In particular, we discuss the search for ttbar resonances, for tj resonances, the search for heavy fourth generation quarks, for dark matter produced in association with single tops, the study of ano…
We explore the implications of 7 TeV LHC searches for a scenario in which one of the stops is the next-to lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP). The NLSP stop (\tilde{t}_1) is assumed to decay exclusively into neutralino and charm quark. We consider processes where the stops are pair produced together with a hard QCD jet. We also consider stop quarks from gluino decays, \tilde{g}\to t\tilde{t}_1^\ast+\bar{t}\tilde{t}_1. We show that the monojet ATLAS and CMS searches corresponding to 1 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity are sensitive to stop masses of up to 160 GeV, with the 20% neutralino-sto…
