Geometric frustration adds a new competing energy scale to the antiferromagnetic (AFM) Kondo lattice model (KLM). In this work, we systematically study the doniach phase diagram on the square and triangular lattices in the same theoretical framework and reveal unexpected responses of it on the two lattices. The potential energy created by the geometric frustration is comparable to the Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida (RKKY) coupling, which completely suppresses the long-range antiferromagnetic (AFM) order on the half-filled triangular lattice. While, on the square lattice, the long-range AFM order successfully establishes and constitutes the conventional competition between the RKKY and Kondo couplings. The geometrical frustration on the triangular lattice is partially released when doped with holes, in which two different magnetic orders emerge unexpectedly. The two orders closely relate to the topology of the interacting Fermi surface. Our comprehensive comparison of the KLM on the two lattices not only reveals a significant competition of geometric frustration, RKKY, and Kondo couplings on low-dimensional systems but also sheds light on experimentally finding new phases in related materials.
The Doniach's diagram has been originally proposed to describe the competition between the local Kondo effect and the intersite RKKY interactions in cerium compounds. Here we discuss the extension of this diagram to different variations of Kondo lattice model. We consider a) ordered cerium compounds where the competition between magnetic order and Kondo effect plays an important role, as $CeRh_2Si_2$, b) disordered cerium systems with competing spin glass phase, magnetic ordered phases and a Kondo phase, as the heavy fermion cerium alloy $CeCu_xNi_{1-x}$ and, c) uranium compounds where a coexi…
Exact diagonalization calculations reveal that the energy spacing $Δ$ in the conduction band tunes the interplay between the {\it local} Kondo and {\it non local} RKKY interactions, giving rise to a "Doniach phase diagram" for a nanocluster with regions of prevailing Kondo or RKKY correlations. The parity of the total number of electrons alters the competition between the Kondo and RKKY correlations. This interplay may be relevant to experimental realizations of small rings or quantum dots with tunable magnetic properties. Below a critical value V$_c$ of the hybridization the susceptibility ex…
The competition between the indirect exchange interaction (IEC) of magnetic impurities in metals and the Kondo effect gives rise to a rich quantum phase diagram, the Doniach Diagram. In disordered metals, both the Kondo temperature and the IEC are widely distributed due to the scattering of the conduction electrons from the impurity potential. Therefore, it is a question of fundamental importance, how this Doniach diagram is modified by the disorder, and if one can still identify separate phases. Recently, it has been investigated the effect of Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida (RKKY) correlations…
Magnetic and charge susceptibilities in the Kondo lattice are derived by the continuous-time quantum Monte Carlo (CT-QMC) method combined with the dynamical mean-field theory. For a weak exchange coupling J and near half filling of the conduction band, antiferromagnetic transition occurs as signalled by divergence of the staggered magnetic susceptibility with lowering temperature. With increasing J, the Kondo effect suppresses the divergence, and the critical value of J agrees well with Doniach's estimate which considers the RKKY interaction as competing with the Kondo effect. For low density …
Ultrafast manipulations of magnetic phases are eliciting increasing attention from the scientific community, because potentially relevant to the understanding of nonequilibrium phase transitions and to novel technologies. Here, we focus on manipulations applied to magnetic impurities in metallic hosts. By considering small nanoring geometries, we show how currents can induce a dynamical switching between different types of exchange interactions in these systems. Our work thus opens a study window on nonequilibrium Doniach's magnetic phase diagrams, and time-dependent Kondo-vs-RKKY scenarios.
Interplay between Kondo effect and trends to antiferromagnetic and spin glass ordering in perfect and disordered bipartite Kondo lattices is considered. Ginzburg-Landau equation is derived from the microscopic effective action written in three mode representation (Kondo screening, antiferromagnetic correlations and spin liquid correlations). The problem of local constraint is resolved by means of Popov-Fedotov representation for localized spin operators. It is shown that the Kondo screening enhances the trend to a spin liquid crossover and suppresses antiferromagnetic ordering in perfect Kondo…
In this paper we investigate the magnetic properties of heavy fermions in the antiferromagnetic and dense Kondo phases in the framework of the Kondo necklace model. We use a mean field renormalization group approach to obtain a temperature versus Kondo coupling $(T-J)$ phase diagram for this model in qualitative agreement with Doniach's diagram, proposed on physical grounds. We further analyze the magnetically disordered phase using a two-sites approach. We calculate the correlation functions and the magnetic susceptibility that allow to identify the crossover between the spin-liquid and the l…
We propose a new framework for first-principle calculations of heavy-fermion materials. These are described in terms of the Kondo lattice Hamiltonian with the parameters extracted from a realistic density functional based calculation which is then solved using continuous-time quantum Monte Carlo method and dynamical mean field theory. As an example, we show our results for the Neel temperatures of Cerium-122 compounds (CeX2Si2 with X=Ru, Rh, Pd, Cu, Ag, and Au) where the general trend around the magnetic quantum critical point is successfully reproduced. Our results are organized on a universa…
The tilted balance among competing interactions can yield a rich variety of ground states of quantum matter. In most Ce-based heavy fermion systems, this can often be qualitatively described by the famous Doniach phase diagram, owing to the competition between the Kondo screening and the Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yoshida exchange interaction. Here, we report an unusual pressure-temperature phase diagram beyond the Doniach one in CeCuP2. At ambient pressure, CeCuP2 displays typical heavy-fermion behavior, albeit with a very low carrier density. With lowering temperature, it shows a crossover from …
In a Kondo lattice, the spin exchange coupling between a local spin and the conduction electrons acquires nonlocal contributions due to conduction electron scattering from surrounding local spins and the subsequent RKKY interaction. It leads to a hitherto unrecognized interference of Kondo screening and the RKKY interaction beyond the Doniach scenario. We develop a renormalization group theory for the RKKY-modified Kondo vertex. The Kondo temperature, $T_K(y)$, is suppressed in a universal way, controlled by the antiferromagnetic RKKY coupling parameter $y$. Complete spin screening ceases to e…
We establish the low-temperature phase diagrams of the spin-1/2 and spin-1 Kondo lattice models as a function of the conduction-band filling n and the exchange coupling strength J in the regime of ferromagnetic effective exchange interactions (n ~< 0.5). We show that both models have several distinct ferromagnetic phases separated by continuous Lifshitz transitions of the Fermi-pocket vanishing or emergence type: one of the phases has a true gap in the minority band (half metal), the others only a pseudogap. They can be experimentally distinguished by their magnetization curves; only the gappe…
We present theoretical results for the underscreened Kondo lattice model with localized S=1 spins coupled to a conduction band through a Kondo coupling, $J_K$, and interacting among them ferromagnetically. We use a fermionic representation for the spin operators and expand the Hamiltonian in terms of bosonic fields. For large values of $J_K$, we obtain a ferromagnetically ordered solution and a Kondo regime with a Kondo temperature, $T_K$, larger than the Curie temperature, $T_C$. This finding suggests a scenario for a coexistence of Kondo effect and ferromagnetic order. In some uranium compou…
The frustrated magnetism on the Kondo lattice system motivates intriguing Kondo-breakdown beyond the traditional Doniach scenario. Among them, the fractionalized Fermi liquid (FL*) has drawn a particular interest by virtue of its fractionalized nature. Here, we study the phase diagram of $J_{1}$-$J_{2}$ Kondo-Heisenberg model on a honeycomb lattice at a quarter filling. Employing the slave-fermion mean-field theory with $d \pm id$ spin liquid ansatz and exact diagonalization, we discuss the emergence of partial Kondo screening in the frustrated regime with comparable $J_{1}$ and $J_{2}$, and t…
The triangular triple quantum dot is an interesting system which can demonstrate various types of the Kondo effects, such as the one due to the local spin S=1 moment caused by the Nagaoka ferromagnetic mechanism and the SU(4) Kondo effect. We theoretically study the low-temperature properties and the Kondo energy scale of the triangular triple quantum dot, using the Wilson numerical renormalization group. We have explored a wide parameter region of the electron-filling and distortions which break the symmetry of an equilateral structure. Our results give a comprehensive overview of how the Kon…
We investigate the ground-state phase diagram of the Kondo lattice model with classical localized spins on triangular-to-kagome lattices by using a variational calculation. We identify the parameter regions where a four-sublattice noncoplanar order is stable with a finite spin scalar chirality while changing the lattice structure from triangular to kagome continuously. Although the noncoplanar spin states appear in a wide range of parameters, the spin configurations on the kagome network become coplanar as approaching the kagome lattice; eventually, the scalar chirality vanishes for the kagome…
We study the behavior of the quarter-filled Kondo lattice model on a triangular lattice by combining a zero-temperature variational approach and finite-temperature Monte-Carlo simulations. For intermediate coupling between itinerant electrons and classical moments ${\bf S}_j$, we find a thermodynamic phase transition into an exotic spin ordering with uniform scalar spin chirality and $< {\bf S}_j >=0$. The state exhibits spontaneous quantum Hall effect. We also study how its properties are affected by application of an external magnetic field.
In this work we concentrate on the {\it point symmetry} of triangular triple quantum dot and its interplay with the {\it spin rotation symmetry} in the context of Kondo tunneling through this kind of artificial molecule. A fully symmetric triangular triple quantum dot is considered, consisting of three identical puddles with the same individual properties (energy levels and Coulomb blockade parameters) and inter-dot coupling (tunnel amplitudes and electrostatic interaction). The underlying Kondo physics is determined by the product of a discrete rotation symmetry group in real space and a cont…
Building on the results of Ref. \cite{faye2018phase}, which identified an antiferromagnetic and Kondo singlet phases on the Kondo-Hubbard square lattice, we use the variational cluster approximation (VCA) to investigate the competition between these phases on a two-dimensional triangular lattice with $120^{o}$ spin orientation. In addition to the antiferromagnetic exchange interaction $J_{\perp}$ between the localized (impurity) and conduction (itinerant) electrons, our model includes the local repulsion $U$ of the conduction electrons and the Heisenberg interaction $J_H$ between the impuritie…
A triangular triple quantum dot gives various Kondo effects, such as the emergence of an electric polarization accompanied by a complete compensation of spin degrees of freedom. The interplay of spin and charge of electrons in quantum dots is investigated using an Anderson model with an equilateral triangular spin cluster, in which a single electron state at one site is hybridized with a conduction band in a lead. The numerical renormalization group analysis shows how a nonzero electric polarization develops with local electrons traveling in the loop and how it depends on the hybridization str…
We study an orbitally degenerate Kondo effect in a triangular triple quantum dot (TTQD), where the three dots are connected vertically with a single metallic lead through electron tunneling. Both spin and orbital degrees of freedom play an important role in the SU(4) Kondo effect. This is demonstrated by an equilateral TTQD Kondo system at half-filling, by Wilson's numerical renormalization group method. We show how an emergent electric polarization of the TTQD is associated with a crossover from SU(4) to SU(2) symmetry in the low-temperature state. A marked sign reversal of the electric polar…
Motivated by recent experimental progress on triangular lattice heavy-fermion compounds, we investigate possible Lifshitz transitions and the scanning tunnel microscope (STM) spectra of the Kondo-Heisenberg model on the triangular lattice. In the heavy Fermi liquid state, the introduced Heisenberg antiferromagnetic interaction ($J_H$) results in the twice Lifshitz transition at the case of the nearest-neighbour electron hopping but with next-nearest-neighbour hole hopping and the case of the nearest-neighbour hole hopping but with next-nearest-neighbour electron hopping, respectively. Driven b…
Quantum phase transition of fermionic atoms in anisotropic triangular optical lattice was investigated by dynamical cluster approximation combining with continuous time quantum Monte Carlo algorithm. The temperature-interaction phase diagram for different hoping terms and the competition between the anisotropic parameter and interaction is presented. Our results show that the system undergoes Mott transition from Fermi liquid to Mott insulator while the repulsive interaction reach the critical value. The Kondo metal characterized by Kondo peak in the density of states is found in this systems …
We obtain the rich phase diagrams in the Hubbard model on the triangular Kagomé lattice as a function of interaction, temperature and asymmetry, by combining the cellular dynamical mean-field theory with the continuous time quantum Monte Carlo method. The phase diagrams show the asymmetry separates the critical points in Mott transition of two sublattices on the triangular Kagomé lattice and produces two novel phases called plaquette insulator with an obvious gap and a gapless Kondo metal. When the Coulomb interaction is stronger than the critical value Uc, a short range paramagnetic insulatin…
We study the Kondo Lattice Model (KLM) on a square lattice through a Hartree-Fock approximation in which the local spins are treated semi-classically, in the sense that their average values are modulated by a magnetic wavevector $\mathbf{Q}$ while they couple with the conduction electrons through fermion operators. In this way, we obtain a ground state phase diagram in which spiral magnetic phases (in which the wavevector depends on the coupling constants and on the density) interpolate between the low-density ferromagnetic phase and the antiferromagnetic phase at half filling; within small re…
The interplay between Kondo screening, indirect magnetic interaction and geometrical frustration is studied in the two-dimensional Kondo-necklace model on the triangular lattice. Using infinite projected entangled pair states (iPEPS), we compute the ground state as a function of the antiferromagnetic local Kondo interaction $J_K$ and the Ising-type direct spin-spin interaction $I_z$ . As opposed to previous studies, we do not find partial Kondo screening (PKS) in the isotropic limit $I_z = 0$ but the same behavior as in the unfrustrated case, i.e. a direct phase transition between the paradigm…
Phase diagram of an Ising-spin Kondo lattice model on a triangular lattice near 1/3-filling is investigated by Monte Carlo simulation. We identify a partially disordered phase with coexistence of magnetic order and paramagnetic moments, which was unstable in two-dimensional Ising models with localized spins only. The partial disorder emerges in the competing regime between a twosublattice stripe phase and three-sublattice ferrimagnetic phase, at finite temperatures above an electronic phase separation. The peculiar magnetic structure accompanies a charge order and develops a gap in the electro…
The role of discrete orbital symmetry in mesoscopic physics is manifested in a system consisting of three identical quantum dots forming an equilateral triangle. Under a perpendicular magnetic field, this system demonstrates a unique combination of Kondo and Aharonov-Bohm features due to an interplay between continuous [spin-rotation SU(2)] and discrete (permutation C3v) symmetries, as well as U(1) gauge invariance. The conductance as a function of magnetic flux displays sharp enhancement or complete suppression depending on contact setups.
We study the local antisymmetric spin-orbit (ASO) coupling effect on spin, orbital, and charge degrees of freedom for the Kondo effect in a triangular triple quantum dot (TTQD). Here, one of the three QDs is coupled to a metallic lead through electron tunneling, and a local electric polarization is induced by the Kondo effect. The ASO interaction is introduced in the other two coupled QDs on the opposite side of the lead. Generally, the ASO coupling effect is very weak and not easily detectable, but it essentially causes spin and charge reconfigurations in the TTQD through the Kondo effect. Us…
The competition between Kondo screening and indirect magnetic exchange is studied for a system with geometrical frustration using dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT). We systematically scan the weak- to strong-coupling regime of the periodic Anderson model on the triangular lattice for a wide range of fillings n. The magnetic phase diagram is derived using a site-dependent DMFT approach by self-consistent mapping onto three independent single-impurity models corresponding to the three correlated f orbitals in the unit cell. At half-filling, the system is a non-magnetic Kondo insulator for all c…
We study the conductance through a triangular triple quantum dot, which are connected to two noninteracting leads, using the numerical renormalization group (NRG). It is found that the system shows a variety of Kondo effects depending on the filling of the triangle. The SU(4) Kondo effect occurs at half-filling, and a sharp conductance dip due to a phase lapse appears in the gate-voltage dependence. Furthermore, when four electrons occupy the three sites on average, a local S=1 moment, which is caused by the Nagaoka mechanism, is induced along the triangle. The temperature dependence of the en…
We investigate the ground-state phase diagram for the ferromagnetic Kondo lattice model on a triangular lattice by a variational calculation for various spin orderings up to a four-site unit cell. We find that a noncoplanar four-sublattice ordering with a finite scalar spin chirality emerges at and around 1/4 filling, in addition to the 3/4-filled case, which was predicted to be induced by the perfect nesting of the Fermi surface [I. Martin and C. D. Batista: Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 101} (2008) 156402]. The 1/4-filling phase is stable in a wider range of parameters than the 3/4-filling one, and …
We report the presence of spin dimerization in the ground state of the one dimensional Kondo lattice model at quarter filling. The emergence of this new phase of the Kondo lattice can be traced to the form of the RKKY interaction between the localized moments and provides the first example of dimerization induced indirectly by itinerant electrons. We propose this dimer ordering as the driving mechanism of the spin-Peierls phase observed in the quasi-one-dimensional organic compounds (Per)$_{2}$M(mnt)$_{2}$ (M=Pt, Pd). Moreover, this suggests that a richer phase diagram than the Doniach paradig…
We report the influence of external pressure (P= up to 8 GPa) on the temperature dependence of electrical resistivity of a Yb-based Kondo lattice, YbPd2Si2, which does not undergo magnetic ordering under ambient pressure condition. There are qualitative changes in the temperature dependence of electrical resistivity due to the application of external pressure. While the resistivity is found to vary quadratically below 15 K (down to 45 mK) characteristic of Fermi-liquids, a drop is observed below 0.5 K for P= 1 GPa. Since the resistance values do not attain zero, we are attempted to attribute t…
Spin scalar chiral ordering gives rise to nontrivial topological characters and peculiar transport properties. We here examine how quantum spin fluctuations affect the spin scalar chiral ordering in itinerant electron systems. We take the Kondo lattice model on a triangular lattice, and perform the linear spin wave analysis in the Chern insulator phases with spin scalar chiral ordering obtained in the case that the localized spins are classical. We find that, although the quantum fluctuation destabilizes the spin scalar chiral phase at 3/4 filling that originates from the perfect nesting of Fe…
Effect of the coupling to mobile carriers on the 120$^\circ$ antiferromagnetic state is investigated in a ferromagnetic Kondo lattice model on a frustrated triangular lattice. Using a variational calculation for various spin orderings up to a four-site unit cell, we identify the ground-state phase diagram with focusing on the lightly-doped region. We find that an electron doping from the band bottom immediately destabilizes a 120$^\circ$ coplanar antiferromagnetic order and induces a noncoplanar three-sublattice ordering accompanied by an intervening phase separation. This noncoplanar phase ha…
Transport properties of an interacting triple quantum dot system coupled to three leads in a triangular geometry has been studied in the Kondo regime. Applying mean-field finite-U slave boson and embedded cluster approximations to the calculation of transport properties unveils a set of rich features associated to the high symmetry of this system. Results using both calculation techniques yield excellent overall agreement and provide additional insights into the physical behavior of this interesting geometry. In the case when just two current leads are connected to the three-dot system, interf…

We theoretically predict the emergence of 120-degree spin order as a nonequilibrium steady state in the photodriven Kondo-lattice model on a triangular lattice. In the system away from the half filling with ferromagnetic ground state, the photoexcitation of conduction electrons and the photoinduced renormalization of bandwidth cause reconstruction of band structure and subsequent redistribution of the electrons through relaxations, which result in an electronic structure similar to that in the half-filled system at equilibrium, where the 120-degree spin order is stabilized. In this photoinduce…
Despite intense research in the field of strongly correlated electron behavior for the past few decades, there has been very little effort to understand this phenomenon in nano particles of the Kondo lattices. In this article, we review the results of our investigation on the fine particles (less than 1 micron) of some of the alloys obtained by high-energy ball-milling to bring out that this synthetic method paves a way to study strong electron correlations in nanocrystals of such alloys. We primarily focus on the alloys of the series, CeRu(2-x)Rh(x)Si2, lying at different positions in Doniach…
The quantum critical point (QCP) in the archetypical heavy-fermion compound CeCu$_6$ doped by Au is described, accounting for the localized $4f$-electron of Ce, using realistic electronic structure calculations combined with dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT). Magnetism trends in Ce(Cu$_{1-ε}$Au$_ε$)$_6$ are compared with those in Co-doped CeCu$_{5}$, which resides on the non-ferromagnetic side of the composition space of one of the earliest rare-earth permanent magnet compounds, Ce(Co,Cu)$_5$. The construction of a realistic Doniach phase diagram shows that the system crosses over a magnetic …
Magnetic and electronic properties of a Kondo lattice model with Ising localized spins are studied on an isotropic triangular lattice. By using Monte Carlo simulation, we present that the model shows a rich phase diagram with four dominant states: two-sublattice stripe, three-sublattice ferrimganetic, partially disordered, and Kosterlitz-Thouless like quasi-long-range ordered states. Among them, the partially disordered state and Kosterlitz-Thouless like state are intermediate phases induced by thermal fluctuations in the phase competing regime; they are present only at finite temperatures and…
We study the low-energy properties of a triangular triple quantum dot connected to two non-interacting leads in a wide parameter range, using the numerical renormalization group (NRG). Various kinds of Kondo effects take place in this system depending on the electron filling N_{tot}, or the level position $ε_d$ of the triple dot. The SU(4) Kondo behavior is seen in the half-filled case N_{tot} = 3.0 at the dip of the series conductance, and it causes a charge redistribution between the even and odd orbitals in the triangle. We show generally that the quasi-particle excitations from a local Fer…

We report our theoretical results on the emergence of a partially-disordered state at zero temperature and its detailed nature in the periodic Anderson model on a triangular lattice at half filling. The partially-disordered state is characterized by coexistence of a collinear antiferromagnetic order on an unfrustrated honeycomb subnetwork and nonmagnetic state at the remaining sites. This state appears with opening a charge gap between a noncollinear antiferromagnetic metal and Kondo insulator while changing the hybridization and Coulomb repulsion. We also find a characteristic crossover in th…
We study transport through a triangle triple quantum dot connected to two noninteracting leads using the numerical renormalization group (NRG). The triangle has a high-spin ground state of S=1 caused by a Nagaoka ferromagnetism, when it is isolated and has one extra electron introduced into a half-filling. The results show that the conduction electrons screen the local moment via two separate stages with different energy scales. The half of the S=1 is screened first by one of the channel degrees, and then at very low temperature the remaining half is fully screened to form a Kondo singlet. The…
The quantum phase diagram of disordered electron systems as function of the concentration of magnetic impurities nm and the local exchange coupling J is studied in the dilute limit. We take into account the Anderson localisation of the electrons by a nonperturbative numerical treatment of the disorder potential. The competition between RKKY interaction JRKKY and the Kondo effect, as governed by the temperature scale TK, is known to gives rise to a rich magnetic quantum phase diagram, the Doniach diagram. Our numerical calculations show that in a disordered system both the Kondo temperature TK …
We show by quantum Monte Carlo simulations of realistic Kondo lattice models derived from electronic--structure calculations that multiple quantum critical points can be realized in Plutonium--based materials. We place representative systems including PuCoGa5 on a realistic Doniach phase diagram and identify the regions where the magnetically mediated superconductivity could occur. Solution of an inverse problem to restore the quasiparticle renormalization factor for f-electrons is shown to be sufficiently good to predict the trends among Sommerfeld coefficients and magnetism. Suggestion on th…
Motivated by Mo$_3$S$_7$(dmit)$_3$, we investigate the Hubbard model on the triangular necklace lattice at two-thirds filling. We show, using second order perturbation theory, that in the molecular limit, the ground state and the low energy excitations of this model are identical to those of the spin-one Heisenberg chain. The latter model is known to be in the symmetry protected topological Haldane phase. Away from this limit we show, on the basis of symmetry arguments and density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) calculations, that the low-energy physics of the Hubbard model on the triangul…
We present a novel approximation for two interacting magnetic impurities immersed into a noninteracting metallic host. The scheme is based on direct perturbation theory in the hybridization between the impurity and band electrons. This two-impurity enhanced noncrossing approximation (TIE) fully incorporates the indirect interaction between the impurities which are mediated by the conduction electrons as well as additional arbitrary direct interaction matrix elements. We qualify the approximation by investigating the uncoupled case and conclude the TIE to be equally accurate as its single impur…
The electronic properties and spectroscopic features of a magnetic trimer with a Kondo-like coupling to a non-magnetic metallic substrate are analyzed at zero temperature. The substrate density of states is depressed in the trimer neighbourhood, being exactly zero at the substrate chemical potential. The size of the resonance strongly depends on the magnetic state of the trimer, and exhibits a two-state behavior. The geometrical dependence of these results agree qualitatively with recent experiments and could be reproduced in a triangular quantum dot arrangement.
Triangular symmetry stabilizes a novel non-Fermi-liquid phase in the three-impurity Kondo model with frustrating antiferromagnetic interactions between half-integer impurity spins. The phase arises without fine-tuning of couplings, and is stable against magnetic fields and particle-hole symmetry breaking. We find a conformal field theory describing this phase, verify it using the numerical renormalization group, and extract various exact, universal low-energy properties. Signatures predicted in electrical transport may be testable in scanning tunneling microscopy or quantum-dot experiments.
We report specific heat ($C$) and magnetization ($M$) of single crystalline Ce$_4$Pt$_{12}$Sn$_{25}$ at temperature down to $\sim$50mK and in fields up to 3T. $C/T$ exhibits a sharp anomaly at 180mK, with a large $ΔC/T\sim$30J/molK$^2$-Ce, which, together with the corresponding cusp-like magnetization anomaly, indicates an antiferromagnetic (AFM) ground state with a Néel temperature $T_N$=180mK. Numerical calculations based on a Heisenberg model reproduce both zero-field $C$ and $M$ data, thus placing Ce$_4$Pt$_{12}$Sn$_{25}$ in the weak exchange coupling $J<J_c$ limit of the Doniach diagram, …
