Magnetic and charge susceptibilities in the Kondo lattice are derived by the continuous-time quantum Monte Carlo (CT-QMC) method combined with the dynamical mean-field theory. For a weak exchange coupling J and near half filling of the conduction band, antiferromagnetic transition occurs as signalled by divergence of the staggered magnetic susceptibility with lowering temperature. With increasing J, the Kondo effect suppresses the divergence, and the critical value of J agrees well with Doniach's estimate which considers the RKKY interaction as competing with the Kondo effect. For low density of conduction electrons, a ferromagnetic ordering is observed where Doniach's estimate does not work. Around quarter filling, a charge-density-wave (CDW) transition is found. The CDW is interpreted from the strong-coupling limit in terms of effective repulsion between Kondo singlets.
We identify the precise hallmarks of the local magnetic moment formation and its Kondo screening in the frequency structure of the generalized charge susceptibility. The sharpness of our identification even pinpoints an alternative criterion to determine the Kondo temperature of strongly correlated systems on the two-particle level, which only requires calculations at the lowest Matsubara frequency. We showcase its strength by applying it to the single impurity and the periodic Anderson model as well as to the Hubbard model. Our results represent a significant progress for the general understa…
The finite-temperature density-matrix renormalization-group method is applied to the one-dimensional Kondo lattice model near half filling to study its thermodynamics. The spin and charge susceptibilities and entropy are calculated down to T=0.03t. We find two crossover temperatures near half filling. The higher crossover temperature continuously connects to the spin gap at half filling, and the susceptibilities are suppressed around this temperature. At low temperatures, the susceptibilities increase again with decreasing temperature when doping is finite. We confirm that they finally approac…
Magnetic properties are investigated for the Kondo lattice by using the continuous time quantum Monte Colro (CT-QMC) and the dynamical mean field theory (DMFT). The DMFT+CT-QMC approach is extended so as to derive the anisotropic magnetic response in the antiferromagnetic phase. The longitudinal and transverse magnetic susceptibilities are numerically derived in the antiferromagnetic phase. For the RKKY regime with a small Kondo coupling, the transverse susceptibility does not decrease below the transition temperature while the longitudinal susceptibility decreases as expected from the mean fi…
Strong-coupling expansions, to order $(t/J)^8$, are derived for the Kondo lattice model of strongly correlated electrons, in 1-, 2- and 3- dimensions at arbitrary temperature. Results are presented for the specific heat, and spin and charge susceptibilities.
The single impurity Anderson model (SIAM) is studied within an enhanced non-crossing approximation (ENCA). This method is extended to the calculation of susceptibilities and thoroughly tested, also in order to prepare applications as a building block for the calculation of susceptibilities and phase transitions in correlated lattice systems. A wide range of model parameters, such as impurity occupancy, temperature, local Coulomb repulsion and hybridization strength, are studied. Results for the spin and charge susceptibilities are presented. By comparing the static quantities to exact Bethe an…
We present a generic mechanism that explains why many Kondo materials show magnetic ordering along directions that are not favoured by the crystal-field anisotropy. Using a renormalization-group (RG) analysis of single impurity Kondo models with single-ion anisotropy, we demonstrate that strong fluctuations above the Kondo temperature drive a moment re-orientation over a wide range of parameters, e.g. for different spin values $S$ and number of Kondo channels $N$. In tetragonal systems this can happen for both easy-plane or easy axis anisotropy. The characteristic crossing of magnetic suscepti…
We analyze the ground-state energy, local spin correlation, impurity spin polarization, impurity-induced magnetization, and corresponding zero-field susceptibilities of the symmetric single-impurity Kondo model on a tight-binding chain with bandwidth $W=2{\cal D}$ and coupling strength $J_{\rm K}$. We compare perturbative results and variational upper bounds from Yosida, Gutzwiller, and first-order Lanczos wave functions to the numerically exact data obtained from the Density-Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG) and from the Numerical Renormalization Group (NRG) methods. The Gutzwiller variatio…
Motivated by the unconventional superconductivity observed in heavy-fermion metals, we investigate pairing susceptibilities near a continuous quantum phase transition of the Kondo-destruction type. We solve two-impurity Bose-Fermi Anderson models with Ising and Heisenberg forms of the interimpurity exchange interaction using continuous-time quantum Monte-Carlo and numerical renormalization-group methods. Each model exhibits a Kondo-destruction quantum critical point separating Kondo-screened and local-moment phases. For antiferromagnetic interimpurity exchange interactions, singlet pairing is …
Due to the interaction between topological defects of an order parameter and underlying fermions, the defects can possess induced fermion numbers, leading to several exotic phenomena of fundamental importance to both condensed matter and high energy physics. One of the intriguing outcome of induced fermion number is the presence of fluctuating competing orders inside the core of topological defect. In this regard, the interaction between fermions and skyrmion excitations of antiferromagnetic phase can have important consequence for understanding the global phase diagrams of many condensed matt…
We present a perturbation theory for studying thermodynamic properties of the Kondo spin liquid phase of the half-filled Kondo lattice model. The grand partition function is derived to calculate chemical potential, spin and charge susceptibilities and specific heat. The treatment is applicable to the model with strong couplings in any dimensions (one, two and three dimensions). The chemical potential equals zero at any temperatures, satisfying the requirement of the particle-hole symmetry. Thermally activated behaviors of the spin(charge) susceptibility due to the spin(quasiparticle) gap can b…
A model of spin relaxation in Kondo lattices is proposed to explain the presence of an electron spin resonance (ESR) signal in the heavy fermion compounds YbRh2Si2 and YbIr2Si2. Coupled equations for dynamical susceptibilities of Kondo ions and conduction electrons are derived by means of the functional derivative method. The perturbational scaling approach reveals the collective spin motion of Yb ions with conduction electrons in the bottleneck regime. A common energy scale due to the Kondo effect regulates the temperature dependence of the different kinetic coefficients and results in a mutu…
A system of conduction electrons can mediate an indirect magnetic exchange between magnetic impurites. The nonlocal exchange typically competes with the local Kondo screening of the impurity magnetic moments. In case of magnetic adatoms on non-magnetic surfaces this competition is expected to be affected by different confinement effects. Here we study this situation in the regime of intermediate hybridization strengths by means of real-space dynamical mean-field theory for a one-dimensional two-impurity Anderson model. Depending on the presence of a boundary and depending on the system size, a…
The one dimensional $SU(2)$ Kondo Lattice model is studied by Density Matrix Renormalization Group away from half-filling. We find signatures of a Heavy Tomonaga-Luttinger Liquid (HTLL) phase, which describes one dimensional Heavy Fermions. We compute the wave-vector dependent charge and spin susceptibilities. Our results establish divergent charge and spin correlations at the large Fermi surface $k_F+π/2$, and its harmonics. We also find a signature of the hybridization gap at the small Fermi surface. We compare our $N\!=\!2$ results to the large-$N$ Slave Bosons mean field theory of the $SU(…
Thermodynamic properties of the one-dimensional Kondo lattice model at half-filling are studied by the density matrix renormalization group method applied to the quantum transfer matrix. Spin susceptibility, charge susceptibility, and specific heat are calculated down to T=0.1t for various exchange constants. The obtained results clearly show crossover behavior from the high temperature regime of nearly independent localized spins and conduction electrons to the low temperature regime where the two degrees of freedom couple strongly. The low temperature energy scales of the charge and spin sus…
We present a Green's-function theory of magnetic short-range order in the $S=1/2$ easy-plane XXZ chain based on the projection method for the dynamic spin susceptibility and a decoupling of three-spin operator products introducing vertex parameters. The longitudinal and transverse static susceptibilities and two-point correlation functions of arbitrary range are calculated self-consistently for all wavenumbers, temperatures, and anisotropy parameters $ -1\leq Δ\leq 1$. In the easy-plane ferromagnetic region $(Δ< 0)$, the longitudinal correlators of spins at distance $n$ change sign at a finite…
Recent developments of the theoretical investigations on the one-dimensional Kondo lattice model by using the density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) method are discussed in this review. Short summaries are given for the zero-temperature DMRG, the finite-temperature DMRG, and also its application to dynamic quantities. Away from half-filling, the paramagnetic metallic state is shown to be a Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid with the large Fermi surface. For the large Fermi surface its size is determined by the sum of the densities of the conduction electrons and the localized spins. The correlatio…
We analyse several thermodynamic properties of the two-dimensional Kondo necklace using finite-temperature stochastic series expansion. In agreement with previous zero-temperature findings the model is shown to exhibit a quantum critical point (QCP), separating an antiferromagnetic from a paramagnetic dimerized state at a critical Kondo exchange-coupling strength $J_{c}\approx 1.4$. We evaluate the temperature dependent uniform and staggered structure factors as well as the uniform and staggered susceptibilities and the local 'impurity' susceptibility close to the QCP as well as in the ordered…
The one-dimensional Kondo lattice model is investigated by means of Wegner's flow equation method. The renormalization procedure leads to an effective Hamiltonian which describes a free one-dimensional electron gas and a Heisenberg chain. The localised spins of the effective model are coupled by the well-known RKKY interaction. They are treated within a Schwinger boson mean field theory which permits the calculation of static and dynamic correlation functions. In the regime of small interaction strength static expectation values agree well with the expected Luttinger liquid behaviour. The para…
We consider a two dimensional Kondo lattice model with exchange J and hopping t in which three out of four impurity spins are removed in a regular way. At the particle-hole symmetric point the model may be studied with auxiliary field quantum Monte Carlo methods without sign problems. To achieve the relevant energy scales on finite clusters, we introduce a simple method to reduce size effects by up to an order of magnitude in temperature. In this model, a metallic phase survives up to arbitrarily low temperatures before being disrupted by magnetic fluctuations which open a gap in the charge se…
We calculate the spectra and spin susceptibilities of a Hubbard model with two bands having different bandwidths but the same on-site interaction, with parameters close to the orbital-selective Mott transition, using dynamical mean-field theory. If the Hund's rule coupling is sufficiently strong, one common energy scale emerges which characterizes both the location of kinks in the self-energy and extrema of the diagonal spin susceptibilities. A physical explanation of this energy scale is derived from a Kondo-type model. We infer that for multi-band systems local spin dynamics rather than spec…
We consider the local properties of the Yb3+ ion in the crystal electric field in the Kondo lattice compounds YbRh2Si2 and YbIr2Si2. On this basis we have calculated the magnetic susceptibility taking into account the Kondo interaction in the simplest molecular field approximation. The resulting Curie-Weiss law and Van Vleck susceptibilities could be excellently fitted to experimental results in a wide temperature interval where thermodynamic and transport properties show non-Fermi-liquid behaviour for these materials.
We present a comprehensive study of CaCu$_3$Ru$_4$O$_{12}$ using bulk sensitive hard and soft x-ray spectroscopy combined with local-density approximation (LDA) + dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) calculations. Correlation effects on both the Cu and Ru ions can be observed. From the Cu $2p$ core level spectra we deduce the presence of magnetic Cu$^{2+}$ ions hybridized with a reservoir of itinerant electrons. The strong photon energy dependence of the valence band allows us to disentangle the Ru, Cu, and O contributions and thus to optimize the DMFT calculations. The calculated spin and charg…
We consider the role of static disorder in the spin sector of the one- and two-channel Kondo models. The distribution functions of the disorder-induced effective energy splitting between the two levels of the Kondo impurity are derived to the lowest order in the concentration of static scatterers. It is demonstrated that the distribution functions are strongly asymmetric, with the typical splitting being parametrically smaller than the average rms value. We employ the derived distribution function of splittings to study the temperature dependence of the low-temperature conductance of a sample …
Many correlated metallic materials are described by Landau Fermi-liquid theory at low energies, but for Hund metals the Fermi-liquid coherence scale $T_{\text{FL}}$ is found to be surprisingly small. In this Letter, we study the simplest impurity model relevant for Hund metals, the three-channel spin-orbital Kondo model, using the numerical renormalization group (NRG) method and compute its global phase diagram. In this framework, $T_{\text{FL}}$ becomes arbitrarily small close to two new quantum critical points (QCPs) which we identify by tuning the spin or spin-orbital Kondo couplings into t…
We grew the single crystal of stoichiometric Tm5Si2.0Ge2.0 using a Bridgeman method and performed XRD, EDS, magnetization, ac and dc magnetic susceptibilities, specific heat, electrical resistivity and XPS experiments. It crystallizes in orthorhombic Sm5Ge4-type structure. The mean valence of Tm ions in Tm5Si2.0Ge2.0 is almost trivalent. The 4f states is split by the crystalline electric field. The ground state exhibits the long range antiferromagnetic order with the ferromagnetically coupled magnetic moments in the ac plane below 8.01 K, while the exited states exhibit the reduction of magnet…
The phase diagram of the Kondo lattice Hamiltonian with ferromagnetic Hund's coupling in the limit where the spin of the localized $t_{2g}$ electrons is classical is analyzed in one dimension as a function of temperature, electronic density, and a direct antiferromagnetic coupling $J'$ between the localized spins. Studying static and dynamical properties, a behavior that qualitatively resembles experimental results for manganites occurs for $J'$ smaller than 0.11 in units of the $e_g$ hopping amplitude. In particular a coexistence of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic excitations is observed …
Based on the SO(2)-invariant slave-boson scheme, the static charge, orbital, and excitonic susceptibilities in the extended Falicov-Kimball model are calculated. Analyzing the phase without long-range order we find instabilities towards charge order, orbital order, and the excitonic insulator (EI) phase. The instability towards the EI is in agreement with the saddle-point phase diagram. We also evaluate the dynamic excitonic susceptibility, which allows the investigation of uncondensed excitons. We find qualitatively different features of the exciton dispersion at the semimetal-EI and at the s…
The static current operator leads to definitional zero frequency divergence and unphysical results in studying nonlinear optical susceptibilities of polymers. A well-defined dipole-dipole correlation is superior to the complicated current-current correlation to solve this problem. As illustrative examples, optical susceptibilities under both SSH and TLM models of trans-(CH)_x are studied. New analytical results are obtained. The reasons of previous improper results are analyzed.
The continuous quantum phase transition and the nature of quantum critical point (QCP) in a modified Kondo lattice model with Ising anisotropic exchange interactions is studied within the density-matrix renormalization group algorithm. We investigate the effect of quantum fluctuations on critical Kondo destruction QCP, by probing static and dynamic properties of the magnetic order and the Kondo effect. In particular, we identify that local Kondo physics itself becomes critical at the magnetic phase transition point, providing unbiased evidences for local quantum criticality between two insulat…
We investigate a well studied system of a quantum dot coupled to a Coulomb box and leads, realizing a spin-flavor Kondo model. It exhibits a recently discovered non-Fermi liquid (NFL) behavior with emergent SO(5) symmetry. Here, through a detailed bosonization and refermionization solution, we push forward our previous work and provide a consistent and complete description of the various exotic properties and phase diagram. A unique NFL phase emerges from the presence of an uncoupled Majorana fermion from the flavor sector, whereas FL-like susceptibilities result from the gapping out of a pair…
We study formation of local magnetic moments in strongly correlated Hubbard model within dynamical mean field theory and associate peculiarities of temperature dependence of local charge $χ_c$ and spin $χ_s$ susceptibilities with different stages of local moment formation. Local maximum of temperature dependence of the charge susceptibility $χ_c$ is associated with beginning of local magnetic moments formation, while the minimum of the susceptibility $χ_c$ and double occupation, as well as low temperature boundary of the plateau of effective local magnetic moment $μ_{\rm eff}^2=Tχ_s$ temperatu…
We present a high temperature series expansion for the ferromagnetic Kondo lattice model in the large coupling limit, which is used to model CMR perovskites. Our results show the expected cross-over to Curie-Weiß behavior at a temperature related to the bandwidth. Estimates for the magnetic transition temperatures are in the experimentally observed range. The compressibility shows that the high temperature charge excitations can be modeled by spinless fermions. The CMR effect itself, however, warrants the inclusion of dynamic effects and cannot be explained by a static calculation.
We consider a magnetic impurity in the antiferromagnetic spin-1/2 chain which is equivalent to the two-channel Kondo problem in terms of the field theoretical description. Using a modification of the transfer-matrix density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) we are able to determine local and global properties in the thermodynamic limit. The cross-over function for the impurity susceptibility is calculated over a large temperature range, which exhibits universal data-collapse. We are also able to determine the local susceptibilities near the impurity, which show an interesting competition of …
In our recent study, Phys. Rev. Lett. 108 086402 (2012), we have revealed the intriguing properties of the ferromagnetic state in the Kondo lattice model with antiferromagnetic coupling in infinite dimensions: within the ferromagnetic metallic phase, the minority conduction electrons form a gap at the Fermi energy and do not participate in transport irrespective of interaction strength and filling. This half-metallic state is referred to as a spin-selective Kondo insulator. We here show that the spin-selective Kondo insulator can also be realized in the one-dimensional Kondo lattice model by s…
The single impurity Kondo model at zero temperature in a magnetic field is solved by a semi-analytical approach based on the flow equation method. The resulting problem is shown to be equivalent to a resonant level model with a non-constant hybridization function. This nontrivial effective hybridization function encodes the quasiparticle interaction in the Kondo limit, while the magnetic field enters as the impurity orbital energy. The evaluation of static and dynamic quantities of the strong-coupling Kondo model becomes very simple in this effective model. We present results for thermodynamic…
Scanning tunneling miscoscopy is one of the most powerful spectroscopic tools for single-electron excitations. We show that the conductance fluctuations, or noise in the conductance, of a tunneling current into an interacting electron system is dominated by density-density and spin-spin correlations. This allows one to probe two-particle properties (susceptibilities) and collective excitations by standard experimental tunneling methods. We demonstrate this theoretically, using a novel many-body calculation for the multi-center Kondo problem, including both direct and indirect exchange between …
We investigate the dynamical charge response of the Anderson model viewed as a quantum RC circuit. Applying a low-energy effective Fermi liquid theory, a generalized Korringa-Shiba formula is derived at zero temperature, and the charge relaxation resistance is expressed solely in terms of static susceptibilities which are accessible by Bethe ansatz. We identify a giant charge relaxation resistance at intermediate magnetic fields related to the destruction of the Kondo singlet. The scaling properties of this peak are computed analytically in the Kondo regime. We also show that the resistance pe…
Here we propose the existence of a non-static ground state in the Kondo insulator SmB6, with a unique accompany-type valence fluctuation of Sm ions in its bulk. Whether SmB6 is a fashion of time crystal is an intriguing issue.
By combining the results of muon spin rotation and inelastic neutron scattering in the heavy fermion compounds Ce1-xLaxAl3 (0.0 <= x <= 0.2), we show that static magnetic correlations are suppressed above a characteristic temperature, T*, by electronic dissipation rather than by thermal disorder. Below T*, an energy gap opens in the single-ion magnetic response in agreement with the predictions of the Anisotropic Kondo Model. Scaling arguments suggest that similar behavior may underlie the "hidden order" in URu2Si2.
Muon spin relaxation experiments have been performed in the pyrochlore iridate Pr_2Ir_2O_7 for temperatures in the range 0.025-250 K. Kubo-Toyabe relaxation functions are observed up to > 200 K, indicating static magnetism over this temperature range. The T -> 0 static muon spin relaxation rate Delta(0) ~ 8 mus^-1 implies a weak quasistatic moment (~0.1 mu_B). The temperature dependence of Delta is highly non-mean-field-like, decreasing smoothly by orders of magnitude but remaining nonzero below ~150 K. The data rule out ordering of the full Pr^3+ CEF ground-state moment (3.0 mu_B) down to 0.0…
We study the non-equilibrium transport properties of fully (exactly) screened Kondo quantum dots subject to a finite bias voltage or a finite temperature. Firstly, we calculate the Fermi-liquid coefficients of the conductance for models with arbitrary spin, i.e. its leading behaviour for small bias voltages or temperatures. Secondly, we determine the low-temperature behaviour of the static susceptibility from the exactly known Bethe Ansatz results for the magnetisation. Thirdly, we study the crossover from strong to weak coupling in the spin-1/2 and the spin-1 models coupled to one or two scre…
Cold neutron spectroscopy was performed on CeNi_{1-x}Cu_xSn to investigate how the magnetic gap in the 'Kondo insulator' CeNiSn is destroyed by temperature (T), chemical substitution (x), and external magnetic field. Upon doping, the spin gap collapses and magnetic Bragg peaks occur initially (x = 0.13) at the commensurate wave vectors Q = (0,m/2,l) (m,l integer) where the higher-energy (4.1 meV) gap is located for x = 0. A magnetic field smooths the sharp spin gap structure in both momentum and energy, while leaving the associated static susceptibility unchanged, as does raising T.
We study the low-temperature behavior of a magnetic impurity which is weakly coupled to correlated conduction electrons. To account for conduction electron interactions a diagrammatic approach in the frame of the 1/N expansion is developed. The method allows us to study various consequences of the conduction electron correlations for the ground state and the low-energy excitations. We analyse the characteristic energy scale in the limit of weak conduction electron interactions. Results are reported for static properties (impurity valence, charge susceptibility, magnetic susceptibility, and spe…
In the framework of the mean field approach, we provide analytical and numerical solution of the spin-1/2 anisotropic Kondo lattice for arbitrary dimension at half filling. Nontrivial solution for the amplitude of the field opens a gap in the fermion spectrum of an electron liquid in which local moments on the lattice sites are realized. The ground state in the insulator state is determined by a static Z_2 field of local moments, which forms the lattice with a double cell, conduction electrons move in this field. Due to hybridization between electron states a large Fermi surface is formed in t…
Dirac electrons in graphene in the presence of Coulomb interactions of strength $β$ have been shown to display power law behavior with $β$ dependent exponents in certain correlation functions, which we call the mass susceptibilities of the system. In this work, we first discuss how this phenomenon is intimately related to the excitonic insulator transition, showing the explicit relation between the gap equation and response function approaches to this problem. We then provide a general computation of these mass susceptibilities in the ladder approximation, and present an analytical computation…
The Kondo insulator state (KIS) realized in the symmetric Anderson model at half filling is studied in the framework of a mean field approach. It is shown that the state of the Kondo insulator is realized in a lattice with a double cell and a gapped electron liquid behaves like a gapless Majorana spin liquid. The local moments of d-electrons form a static $Z_2$-field in which band electrons move. The gap value in the quasi-particle excitations spectrum decreases with increasing an external magnetic field and closes at its critical value. The behavior of an electron liquid is studied for an arb…
Magnetic impurity effects on metallic carbon nanotubes are studied theoretically. The resolvent method for the multi channel Kondo effect is applied to the band structure of the kp perturbation hamiltonian in the limit of the infinite onsite repulsion at the impurity site. We discuss the local non-Fermi liquid behavior at temperatures lower than the Kondo temperature T_K. The density of states of localized electron has a singularity |omega|^1/2 which gives rise to a pseudo gap at the Kondo resonance in low temperatures. The temperature dependence of the electronic resistivity is predicted as T…
We study single hole dynamics in the bilayer Heisenberg and Kondo Necklace models. Those models exhibit a magnetic order-disorder quantum phase transition as a function of the interlayer coupling J_perp. At strong coupling in the disordered phase, both models have a single-hole dispersion relation with band maximum at p = (π,π) and an effective mass at this p-point which scales as the hopping matrix element t. In the Kondo Necklace model, we show that the effective mass at p = (π,π) remains finite for all considered values of J_perp such that the strong coupling features of the dispersion rela…
We study the Kondo alloy model on a square lattice using dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) for Kondo substitution and disorder effects, together with static mean-field approximations. We computed and analyzed photoemission properties as a function of electronic filling $n_c$, Kondo impurity concentration $x$, and strength of Kondo temperature $T_K$. We provide a complete description of the Angle Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES) signals expected in the paramagnetic Kondo phases. By analyzing the Fermi surface, we observe the Lifshitz-like transition predicted previously for strong $…
A spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ Kitaev sublattice interacting with a subsystem of spinless fermions is studied on a honeycomb lattice when the fermion band is half filled. The model Hamiltonian describes a topological Kondo lattice with the Kitaev interaction, it is solved exactly by reduction to free Majorana fermions in a static $\mathbb{Z}_2$ gauge field. An yet unsolved problem of a hybridization of fermions and local moments in the Kondo lattice at low temperatures is solved in the framework of the model proposed. The Kondo hybridization gap is opened and the system is fixed in insulator and spin in…
We report the results of dynamical mean field calculations for the metallic Kondo lattice model subject to an applied magnetic field. High-quality spectral functions reveal that the picture of rigid, hybridized bands, Zeeman-shifted in proportion to the field strength, is qualitatively correct. We find evidence of a zero-temperature magnetization plateau, whose onset coincides with the chemical potential entering the spin up hybridization gap. The plateau appears at the field scale predicted by (static) large-N mean field theory and has a magnetization value consistent with that of x=1-n_c spi…
The two-orbital degenerate Hubbard model with distinct hopping integrals is studied by combining dynamical mean-field theory with quantum Monte Carlo simulations. The role of orbital fluctuations for the nature of the Mott transition is elucidated by examining the temperature dependence of spin, charge and orbital susceptibilities as well as the one-particle spectral function. We also consider the effect of the hybridization between the two orbitals, which is important particularly close to the Mott transition points. The introduction of the hybridization induces orbital fluctuations, resultin…
In this paper, we present a Kane-Mele model in the presence of magnetic field and next nearest neighbors hopping amplitudes for investigations of the spin susceptibilities of Germanene layer. Green's function approach has been implemented to find the behavior of dynamical spin susceptibilities of Germanene layer within linear response theoryand in the presence of magnetic field and spin-orbit coupling at finite temperature. Our results show the magnetic excitation mode for both longitudinal and transverse components of spin tends to higher frequencies with spin-orbit coupling strength. Moreove…
We report on the study of unusual spin glass properties in the geometrically frustrated pyrochlore Tb$_{2}$Mo$_{2}$O$_{7}$, $T$$_{g}$$\simeq$24 K. The analysis of the nonlinear part of dc and complex susceptibilities, near the glass transition regime, suggests the existence of a statistical distribution of relaxation times in short-range ordered ferromagnetic clusters. In addition, the magnetic spins are not sufficiently frozen below the glass transition temperature; apparently, responsible for the non-equilibrium scaling behavior of the static critical exponents of nonlinear susceptibilities.…
Using the numerical renormalization group (NRG) method we study a magnetic impurity coupled to a quantum wire with Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling (SOC) in an external magnetic field. We consider the low-filling regime with the Fermi energy close to the bottom of the band and report the results for local static and dynamic properties in the Kondo regime. In the absence of the field, local impurity properties remain isotropic in spin space despite the SOC-induced magnetic anisotropy of the conduction band. In the presence of the field, clear fingerprints of anisotropy are revealed th…
