We present the renormalisation group running of the bosonic operators of the Standard Model effective field theory by the Lepton Number Violating operators (LNVs) at 1-loop order up to $\mathcal{O}(v^4/Λ^4)$, with $v \sim 246$ GeV as the electroweak scale and $Λ$ as the SMEFT cut-off. Using these relations with the positivity bounds on Wilson coefficients of $ϕ^4 D^4$ class, we derive sign-constraints on the Wilson coefficients of LNV operators for models where $ϕ^4 D^4$ operators do not appear at tree-level. We inspect these constraints for the LNV Wilson coefficients generated from matching the Type-I and III seesaw models to SMEFT up to dimension seven at tree-level. We also exhibit the unique bounds induced by the T-parameter on LNVs.

We explore the impact of Renormalisation Group (RG) effects in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) interpretations of LHC measurements. We implement the RG running and mixing for the Wilson coefficients as obtained from the one-loop anomalous dimension matrix in the SMEFT into a Monte Carlo generator. This allows to consistently predict and combine in global fits collider observables characterised by different scales. As a showcase, we examine the impact of RG running in the strong coupling on the SMEFT predictions for $t \bar t$ production cross sections and differential distrib…
We explore the possibility of lepton number violation (LNV) manifesting in the rare kaon decay $K\toπνν$, and its consequences for radiative neutrino mass generation and the washout of Lepton asymmetry in high-scale leptogenesis scenarios. We perform the analysis in a model-independent framework, the Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT), and discuss the possible LNV nature of the rare kaon decay in the context of the currently operating NA62 experiment at CERN. We find that, in case of a LNV interaction, its detection would put high-scale leptogenesis under tension and would hint to s…
This is the first paper of our systematic efforts on lepton number violating (LNV) hadronic decays in the effective field theory approach. These decays provide information complementary to popular nuclear neutrinoless double-$β$ ($0νββ$) decay in that they can probe LNV interactions involving heavier quarks and charged leptons. We may call them hadronic $0νββ$ decays in short, though $β$ refers to all charged leptons. In this work we investigate the decays $K^\pm\rightarrowπ^\mp l^{\pm}l^{\pm}$ that arise from short-distance or contact interactions involving four quark fields and two charged l…
This is a sequel to our recent work [1] in which we calculated the lepton number violating (LNV) $K^\pm$ decays due to contact dimension-9 (dim-9) quark-lepton effective interactions that are induced at a high energy scale. In this work we investigate the long-distance contribution to the decays arising from the exchange of a neutrino. These decays can probe LNV interactions involving the second generation of fermions that are not reachable in nuclear neutrinoless double-$β$ decays. Our study is completely formulated in the framework of effective field theories (EFTs), from the standard model …

Focusing on four-Higgs interactions, we analyse the robustness of tree-level-derived positivity bounds on Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT) operators under quantum corrections. Among other results, we demonstrate that: (i) Even in the simplest extensions of the Standard Model, e.g. with one new scalar singlet or with a neutral triplet, some positivity bounds are strictly violated; (ii) the mixing of the dimension-eight operators under renormalisation, which we compute here for the first time, can drive them out of their positivity region; (iii) the running of the dimension-eight in…
The study of Higgs boson production at large transverse momentum is one of the new frontiers for the LHC Higgs physics programme. This paper considers boosted Higgs production in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). We focus on the gluon fusion and $t{\bar t}H$ production processes and study the effects of three dimension-6 operators: the top Yukawa operator, the gluon-Higgs effective coupling and the chromomagnetic dipole operator of the top quark. We perform a detailed study of the sensitivity of current and future LHC data to the corresponding Wilson coefficients, consistently…
A powerful aspect of effective field theories is connecting scales through renormalisation group (RG) flow. The anomalous dimension matrix of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) encodes clues to where to find relics of heavy new physics in data, but its unwieldy 2499-by-2499 size (at operator dimension 6) makes it difficult to draw general conclusions. In this paper, we study the flavour structure of the SMEFT one loop anomalous dimension matrix of dimension 6 current-current operators, a 1460-by-1460 submatrix. We take an on-shell approach, laying bare simple patterns by factori…

We calculate a set of one-loop corrections to $h\to b\bar b$ and $h\to τ\bar τ$ decays in the dimension-6 Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT). In particular, working in the limit of vanishing gauge couplings, we calculate directly in the broken phase of the theory all large logarithmic corrections and in addition the finite corrections in the large-$m_t$ limit. Moreover, we give exact results for one-loop contributions from four-fermion operators. We obtain these corrections within an extension of the widely used on-shell renormalisation scheme appropriate for SMEFT calculations, and…
CoDEx is a Mathematica package that calculates the Wilson Coefficients (WCs) corresponding to effective operators up to mass dimension-6. Once the part of the Lagrangian involving single as well as multiple degenerate heavy fields, belonging to some Beyond Standard Model (BSM) theory, is given, the package can then integrate out propagators from the tree as well as 1-loop diagrams of that BSM theory. It then computes the associated WCs up to 1-loop level, for two different bases: "Warsaw" and "SILH". CoDEx requires only very basic information about the heavy field(s), e.g., Colour, Isospin, Hy…
We calculate the $S$-matrix element for the Higgs boson decay to a $Z$-boson and a photon, $h\to Zγ$, at one-loop in the Standard-Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) framework and in linear $R_ξ$-gauges. Our SMEFT expansion includes all relevant operators up to dimension-6 considered in Warsaw basis without resorting to any flavour or CP-conservation assumptions. Within this approximation there are 23 dimension-6 operators affecting the amplitude, not including flavour and hermitian conjugation. The result for the on-shell $h\to Zγ$ amplitude is gauge invariant, renormalisation-scale invarian…
We compute the leading-logarithmic correction to the neutrino mass matrix in the Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT) to dimension seven. In the limit of negligible lepton and down-type quark Yukawa couplings, it receives contributions from the Weinberg dimension-five operator as well as from 11 dimension-six and five dimension-seven independent interactions. Two of the main implications we derive from this result are the following. First, we find dimension-seven operators which, despite violating lepton number, do not renormalise neutrino masses at one loop. And second, we demonstrat…
We define a data exchange format for numerical values of Wilson coefficients of local operators parameterising low-energy effects of physics beyond the Standard Model. The format facilitates interfacing model-specific Wilson coefficient calculators, renormalisation group (RG) runners, and observable calculators. It is designed to be unambiguous (defining a non-redundant set of operators with fixed normalisation in each basis), extensible (allowing the addition of new EFTs or bases by the user), and robust (being based on industry standard file formats with parsers implemented in many programmi…
SMEFT everywhere: a NLO study of $\boldsymbol{pp \to t\bar{t}H}$ with decaying tops

Assuming that new physics effects are parametrized by the Standard-Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) written in a complete basis of up to dimension-6 operators, we calculate the CP-conserving one-loop amplitude for the decay $h\to γγ$ in general $R_ξ$-gauges. We employ a simple renormalisation scheme that is hybrid between on-shell SM-like renormalised parameters and running $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$ Wilson coefficients. The resulting amplitude is then finite, renormalisation scale invariant, independent of the gauge choice ($ξ$) and respects SM Ward identities. Remarkably, the $S$-matrix am…
