This paper aims to study the asymptotic expansion of analytic torsion forms associated with a certain series of flat bundles. We prove the existence of the full expansion and give a formula for the sub-leading term, while Bismut-Ma-Zhang have studied the first-order expansion and expressed the leading term as the integral of a locally computable differential form.
In this paper we provide a review of asymptotic results of Toeplitz operators and their applications in TQFT. To do this we review the differential geometric construction of the Hitchin connection on a prequantizable compact symplectic manifold. We use asymptotic results relating the Hitchin connec- tion and Toeplitz operators, to, in the special case of the moduli space of flat SU(n)-connections on a surface, prove asymptotic faithfulness of the SU(n) quantum representations of the mapping class group. We then go on to re- view formal Hitchin connections and formal trivializations of these. W…
Using equivariant Toeplitz operator calculus, we give a new proof of the Atiyah-Weinstein conjecture on the index of Fourier integral operators and the relative index of CR structures.
We give new methods for computing the coefficients of the asymptotic expansions of the kernel of Berezin-Toeplitz quantization obtained recently by Ma-Marinescu, and of the composition of two Berezin-Toeplitz quantizations. Our main tool is the stationary phase formula of Melin-Sjöstrand.
For a real symmetric domain $G_{\mathbb R}/K_{\mathbb R}$, with complexification $G_{\mathbb C}/K_{\mathbb C}$, we introduce the concept of "star-restriction" (a real analogue of the "star-products" for quantization of Kähler manifolds) and give a geometric construction of the $G_{\mathbb R}$-invariant differential operators yielding its asymptotic expansion.
The purpose of this paper is first to give an asymptotic formula for the holomorphic analytic torsion forms of a fibration associated with increasing powers of a given line bundle. Secondly, we generalize this formula, thanks to the theory of Toeplitz operators, in the case where the powers of the line bundle is replaced by the direct image of powers of a line bundle on a bigger manifold. In both cases we have to make fiberwise positivity assumption on the line bundle. This results are the family versions of the results of Bimsut and Vasserot on the asymptotic of the holomorphic torsion.
We study the Berezin-Toeplitz quantization on symplectic manifolds making use of the full off-diagonal asymptotic expansion of the Bergman kernel. We give also a characterization of Toeplitz operators in terms of their asymptotic expansion. The semi-classical limit properties of the Berezin-Toeplitz quantization for non-compact manifolds and orbifolds are also established.
Applying standard techniques from Toeplitz operator theory, we analyze the asymptotics of the Hilbert-Smith norms of the TQFT operators coming from isotopy classes of one dimensional oriented submanifolds on a closed oriented surface. We thereby obtain a Toeplitz operator interpretation and generalization of the asymptotic formula obtained recently by Marche and Narimannejad.
The main results of this paper are an asymptotic expansion in powers of $\hbar$ for the spectral measure $μ_\hbar$ of a semi-classical Toeplitz operator, $Q_\hbar$, and an equivariant version of this result when $Q_\hbar$ admits an $n$-torus as a symmetry group. In addition we discuss some inverse spectral consequences of these results.
We introduce new tools for analytic microlocal analysis on Kähler manifolds. As an application, we prove that the space of Berezin-Toeplitz operators with analytic contravariant symbol is an algebra. We also give a short proof of the Bergman kernel asymptotics up to an exponentially small error.
In this lecture results on the Berezin-Toeplitz quantization of arbitrary compact quantizable Kaehler manifolds are presented. These results are obtained in joint work with M. Bordemann and E. Meinrenken. The existence of the Berezin-Toeplitz deformation quantization is also covered. Recent results obtained in joint work with A. Karabegov on the asymptotic expansion of the Berezin transform for arbitrary quantizable compact Kaehler manifolds are explained. As an application the asymptotic expansion of the Fubini-Study fundamental form under the coherent state embedding is considered. Some comm…
We consider Toeplitz operators associated with the renormalized Bochner-Laplacian on high tensor powers of a positive line bundle on a compact symplectic manifold. We study the asymptotic behavior, in the semiclassical limit, of low-lying eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions of a self-adjoint Toeplitz operator under assumption that its principal symbol has a non-degenerate minimum with discrete wells. As an application, we prove upper bounds for low-lying eigenvalues of the Bochner-Laplacian in the semiclassical limit.
We survey recent results about the asymptotic expansion of Toeplitz operators and their kernels, as well as Berezin-Toeplitz quantization. We deal in particular with calculation of the first coefficients of these expansions.
In a setting of a complex manifold with a fixed positive line bundle and a submanifold, we consider the optimal Ohsawa-Takegoshi extension operator, sending a holomorphic section of the line bundle on the submanifold to the holomorphic extension of it on the ambient manifold with the minimal $L^2$-norm. We show that for a tower of submanifolds in the semiclassical setting, i.e. when we consider a large tensor power of the line bundle, the extension operators satisfy transitivity property modulo some small defect, which can be expressed through Toeplitz type operators. We calculate the first si…
We study the analytic torsion of odd-dimensional hyperbolic orbifolds $Γ\backslash \mathbb{H}^{2n+1}$, depending on a representation of $Γ$. Our main goal is to understand the asymptotic behavior of the analytic torsion with respect to sequences of representations associated to rays of highest weights.
In this paper, we will provide a review of the geometric construction, proposed by Witten, of the SU(n) quantum representations of the mapping class groups which are part of the Reshetikhin-Turaev TQFT for the quantum group U_q(sl(n, C)). In particular, we recall the differential geometric construction of Hitchin's projectively flat connection in the bundle over Teichmuller space obtained by push-forward of the determinant line bundle over the moduli space of rank n, fixed determinant, semi-stable bundles fibering over Teichmuller space. We recall the relation between the Hitchin connection an…
We study the Berezin-Toeplitz quantization on Kaehler manifolds. We explain first how to compute various associated asymptotic expansions, then we compute explicitly the first terms of the expansion of the kernel of the Berezin-Toeplitz operators, and of the composition of two Berezin-Toeplitz operators. As application we estimate the norm of Donaldson's Q-operator.
We prove that for certain sequences of hyperbolic three--manifolds with cusps which converge to hyperbolic three--space in a weak ("Benjamini-Schramm") sense and certain coefficient systems the regularized analytic torsion approximates the $L^2$-torsion of the universal cover under an additional hypothesis. We also prove an asymptotic equality between the former and some Reidemeister torsion of the truncated manifolds.
In this paper, we study quantization on a compact integral symplectic manifold $X$ with transversal real polarizations. In the case of complex polarizations, namely $X$ is Kähler equipped with transversal complex polarizations $T^{1, 0}X, T^{0, 1}X$, geometric quantization gives $H^0(X, L^{\otimes k})$'s. They are acted upon by $\mathcal{C}^\infty(X, \mathbb{C})$ via Toeplitz operators as $\hbar = \tfrac{1}{k} \to 0^+$, determining a deformation quantization $(\mathcal{C}^\infty(X, \mathbb{C})[[\hbar]], \star)$ of $X$.\par We investigate the real analogue to these, comparing deformation quanti…
Let $X$ be a compact connected strongly pseudoconvex CR manifold of dimension $2n+1, n \ge 1$ with a transversal CR $S^1$-action on $X$. We introduce the Fourier components of the Ray-Singer analytic torsion on $X$ with respect to the $S^1$-action. We establish an asymptotic formula for the Fourier components of the analytic torsion with respect to the $S^1$-action. This generalizes the asymptotic formula of Bismut and Vasserot on the holomorphic Ray-Singer torsion associated with high powers of a positive line bundle to strongly pseudoconvex CR manifolds with a transversal CR $S^1$-action.
We use the theory of Berezin-Toeplitz operators of Ma and Marinescu to study the spaces of holomorphic sections of a prequantizing line bundle over compact Kähler manifolds under deformations of the complex structure. We show that the parallel transport in the induced vector bundle over the deformation space behaves like a Toeplitz operator, and compute its first coefficient. We then use this result to establish a semi-classical trace formula for the induced quantization of symplectic maps, and give an application to Witten's asymptotic expansion conjecture for the quantum representations of t…
Let $M$ be an arbitrary complex manifold and let $L$ be a Hermitian holomorphic line bundle over $M$. We introduce the Berezin-Toeplitz quantization of the open set of $M$ where the curvature on $L$ is non-degenerate. The quantum spaces are the spectral spaces corresponding to $[0,k^{-N}]$ ($N>1$ fixed), of the Kodaira Laplace operator acting on forms with values in tensor powers $L^k$. We establish the asymptotic expansion of associated Toeplitz operators and their composition as $k\to\infty$ and we define the corresponding star-product. If the Kodaira Laplace operator has a certain spectral …
In this paper, we construct a family of Berezin-Toeplitz type quantizations of a compact symplectic manifold. For this, we choose a Riemannian metric on the manifold such that the associated Bochner Laplacian has the same local model at each point (this is slightly more general than in almost-Kähler quantization). Then the spectrum of the Bochner Laplacian on high tensor powers $L^p$ of the prequantum line bundle $L$ asymptotically splits into clusters of size ${\mathcal O}(p^{3/4})$ around the points $pΛ$, where $Λ$ is an eigenvalue of the model operator (which can be naturally called a Landa…
