In this paper, we show that generalized Hukuhara directional differentiability of an interval-valued function (IVF) defined on Riemannian manifolds is not equivalent to the directional differentiability of its center and half-width functions and hence not to its end point functions. This contrasts with S.-L. Chen's \cite{chen} assertion which says the equivalence holds in terms of endpoint functions of an IVF which is defined on a Hadamard manifold. Additionally, the paper addresses some other inaccuracies which arise when assuming the convexity of a function at a single point in its domain. In light of these arguments, the paper presents some basic results that relate to both the convexity and directional differentiability of an IVF.
In this article, the concept of $μ-$ monotonic property of interval-valued function in higher dimension is introduced. Expansion of interval-valued function in higher dimension is developed using this property. Generalized Hukuhara differentiability is used to derive the theoretical results. Several examples are provided to justify the theoretical developments.
This article proposes a general gH-gradient efficient-direction method and a W-gH-gradient efficient method for the optimization problems with interval-valued functions. The convergence analysis and the step-wise algorithms of both the methods are presented. It is observed that the W-gH-gradient efficient method converges linearly for a strongly convex interval-valued objective function. To develop the proposed methods and to study their convergence, the idea of strong convexity and sequential criteria for gH-continuity of interval-valued function are illustrated. In the sequel, a new definiti…
In this article, we study $gH$-subdifferential calculus of convex interval-valued functions (IVFs) and apply it in a nonconvex composite model of interval optimization problems (IOPs). It is found that the $gH$-directional derivative of maximum of finitely many comparable IVFs is the maximum of their $gH$-directional derivative. Proposed concepts of $gH$-subdifferential are observed to be useful to derive Fritz-John-type and KKT-type efficiency conditions for weak efficient solutions of IOPs. Further, we extract a necessary and sufficient condition to characterize the weak efficient solutions …
This article introduces the concept of weak sharp minima (WSM) for convex interval-valued functions (IVFs). To identify a set of WSM of a convex IVF, we provide its primal and dual characterizations. The primal characterization is given in terms of $gH$-directional derivatives. On the other hand, to derive dual characterizations, we propose the notions of the support function of a subset of $I(\mathbb{R})^{n}$ and $gH$-subdifferentiability for convex IVFs. Further, we develop the required $gH$-subdifferential calculus for convex IVFs. Thereafter, by using the proposed $gH$-subdifferential calc…
In this article, the notion of gH-Clarke derivative for interval-valued functions is proposed. To define the concept of gH-Clarke derivatives, the concepts of limit superior, limit inferior, and sublinear interval-valued functions are studied in the sequel. The upper gH-Clarke derivative of a gH-Lipschitz interval-valued function (IVF) is observed to be a sublinear IVF. It is found that every gH-Lipschitz continuous function is upper gH-Clarke differentiable. For a convex and gH-Lipschitz IVF, it is shown that the upper gH-Clarke derivative coincides with the gH-directional derivative. The ent…
In this article, the concepts of gH-subgradients and gH-subdifferentials of interval-valued functions are illustrated. Several important characteristics of the gH-subdifferential of a convex interval-valued function, e.g., closeness, boundedness, chain rule, etc. are studied. Alongside, we prove that gH-subdifferential of a gH-differentiable convex interval-valued function only contains gH-gradient of that interval-valued function. It is observed that the gH-directional derivative of a convex interval-valued function in each direction is maximum of all the products of gH-subgradients and the d…
We study parabolic quasi-variational inequalities (QVIs) of obstacle type. Under appropriate assumptions on the obstacle mapping, we prove the existence of solutions of such QVIs by two methods: one by time discretisation through elliptic QVIs and the second by iteration through parabolic variational inequalities (VIs). Using these results, we show the directional differentiability (in a certain sense) of the solution map which takes the source term of a parabolic QVI into the set of solutions, and we relate this result to the contingent derivative of the aforementioned map. We finish with an …
The directional differentiability of the solution map of obstacle type quasi-variational inequalities (QVIs) with respect to perturbations on the forcing term is studied. The classical result of Mignot is then extended to the quasi-variational case under assumptions that allow multiple solutions of the QVI. The proof involves selection procedures for the solution set and represents the directional derivative as the limit of a monotonic sequence of directional derivatives associated to specific variational inequalities. Additionally, estimates on the coincidence set and several simplifications …
We focus on elliptic quasi-variational inequalities (QVIs) of obstacle type and prove a number of results on the existence of solutions, directional differentiability and optimal control of such QVIs. We give three existence theorems based on an order approach, an iteration scheme and a sequential regularisation through partial differential equations. We show that the solution map taking the source term into the set of solutions of the QVI is directionally differentiable for general data and locally Hadamard differentiable obstacle mappings, thereby extending in particular the results of our p…
This paper is concerned with the sensitivity analysis of a class of parameterized fixed-point problems that arise in the context of obstacle-type quasi-variational inequalities. We prove that, if the operators in the considered fixed-point equation satisfy a positive superhomogeneity condition, then the maximal and minimal element of the solution set of the problem depend locally Lipschitz continuously on the involved parameters. We further show that, if certain concavity conditions hold, then the maximal solution mapping is Hadamard directionally differentiable and its directional derivatives…

In this note, we prove that the minimal and maximal solution maps associated to elliptic quasi-variational inequalities of obstacle type are directionally differentiable with respect to the forcing term and for directions that are signed. Along the way, we show that the minimal and maximal solutions can be seen as monotone limits of solutions of certain variational inequalities and that the aforementioned directional derivatives can also be characterised as the monotone limits of sequences of directional derivatives associated to variational inequalities. We conclude the paper with some exampl…
In this paper, we obtain a version of Ekeland's variational principle for interval-value functions by means of the Dancs-Hegedus-Medvegyev theorem [14]. We also derive two versions of Ekeland's variational principle involving the generalized Hukuhara Gateaux differentiability of interval-valued functions as well as a version of Ekeland's variational principle for interval-valued bifunctions. Finally, we apply these new versions of Ekeland's variational principle to fixed point theorems, to interval-valued optimization problems, to the interval-valued Mountain Pass Theorem, to noncooperative in…
This paper focuses on the analysis of an optimal control problem governed by a nonsmooth quasilinear partial differential equation that models a stationary incompressible shear-thickening fluid. We start by studying the directional differentiability of the non-smooth term within the state equation as a prior step to demonstrate the directional differentiability of the solution operator. Thereafter, we establish a primal first order necessary optimality condition (Bouligand (B) stationarity), which is derived from the directional differentiability of the solution operator. By using a local regu…

This paper is concerned with the differential sensitivity analysis of variational inequalities in Banach spaces whose solution operators satisfy a generalized Lipschitz condition. We prove a sufficient criterion for the directional differentiability of the solution map that turns out to be also necessary for elliptic variational inequalities in Hilbert spaces (even in the presence of asymmetric bilinear forms, nonlinear operators and nonconvex functionals). In contrast to classical results, our method of proof does not rely on Attouch's theorem on the characterization of Mosco convergence but …
In this article, we introduce the interval optimization problems (IOPs) on Hadamard manifolds as well as study the relationship between them and the interval variational inequalities. To achieve the theoretical results, we build up some new concepts about $gH$-directional derivative and $gH$-Gâteaux differentiability of interval valued functions and their properties on the Hadamard manifolds. The obtained results pave a way to further study on Riemannian interval optimization problems (RIOPs).
The optimal value function is one of the basic objects in the field of mathematical optimization, as it allows the evaluation of the variations in the cost/revenue generated while minimizing/maximizing a given function under some constraints. In the context of stability/sensitivity analysis, a large number of publications have been dedicated to the study of continuity and differentiability properties of the optimal value function. The differentiability aspect of works in the current literature has mostly been limited to first order analysis, with focus on estimates of its directional derivativ…
