We consider quasi-variational inequalities (QVIs) with general non-local drivers and related systems of reflected backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) in a Brownian filtration. We show existence and uniqueness of viscosity solutions to the QVIs by first considering the standard (local) setting and then applying a contraction argument. In addition, the contraction argument yields existence and uniqueness of solutions to the related systems of reflected BSDEs and extends the theory of probabilistic representations of PDEs in terms of BSDEs to our specific setting.
In this paper, we study the relation between the smallest $g$-supersolution of constraint backward stochastic differential equation and viscosity solution of constraint semilineare parabolic PDE, i.e. variation inequalities. And we get an existence result of variation inequalities via constraint BSDE, and prove a uniqueness result under certain condition.
In this paper, we study systems of nonlinear second-order variational inequalities with interconnected bilateral obstacles with non-local terms. They are of min-max and max-min types and related to a multiple modes zero-sum switching game in the jump-diffusion model. Using systems of penalized reflected backward SDEs with jumps and unilateral interconnected obstacles, and their associated deterministic functions, we construct for each system a continuous viscosity solution which is unique in the class of functions with polynomial growth.
In this paper we show existence and uniqueness of a solution for a system of m variational partial differential inequalities with inter-connected obstacles. This system is the deterministic version of the Verification Theorem of the Markovian optimal m-states switching problem. The switching cost functions are arbitrary. This problem is in relation with the valuation of firms in a financial market.
By the coupling method, we establish the Harnack inequalities, derivative formula and Driver's integration by parts formula for the stochastic Klein-Gordon type equations in the interval. We provide a detailed discussion about the nonlinear term. Some applications are given.
This paper studies a system of $m$ variational inequalities with interconnected obstacles in infinite horizon associated to optimal multi-modes switching problems. Our main result is the existence and uniqueness of a continuous solution in viscosity sense, for that system. The proof of the main result strongly relies on the connection between the systems of variational inequalities and reflected backward stochastic differential equations (RBSDEs) with oblique reflection, which will be characterized through a Feynman-Kac's formula. The main feature of our system of infinite horizon RBSDEs is th…
The work concerns a type of backward multivalued McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations. First, we prove the existence and uniqueness of solutions for backward multivalued McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations. Then, it is presented that their solutions depend continuously on the terminal values. Finally, we give a probabilistic interpretation for viscosity solutions of nonlocal quasi-linear parabolic variational inequalities.
In this paper we study the optimal m-states switching problem in finite horizon as well as infinite horizon with risk of default. We allow the switching cost functionals and cost of default to be of polynomial growth and arbitrary. We show uniqueness of a solution for a system of m variational partial differential inequalities with inter-connected obstacles. This system is the deterministic version of the Verification Theorem of the Markovian optimal m-states switching problem with risk of default. This problem is connected with the valuation of a power plant in the energy market.
We study a class of second order variational inequalities with bilateral constraints. Under certain conditions we show the existence of a unique viscosity solution of these variational inequalities and give a stochastic representation to this solution. As an application, we study a stochastic game with stopping times and show the existence of a saddle point equilibrium.
In this paper, we study the $m$-states optimal switching problem in finite horizon, when the switching cost functions are arbitrary and can be positive or negative. This has an economic incentive in terms of central evaluation in cases where such organizations or state grants or financial assistance to power plants that promotes green energy in their production activity or what uses less polluting modes in their production. We show existence for optimal strategy via a verification theorem then we show existence and uniqueness of the value processes by using an approximation scheme. In the mark…
We study a two-player zero-sum stochastic differential game with both players adopting impulse controls, on a finite time horizon. The Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman-Isaacs (HJBI) partial differential equation of the game turns out to be a double-obstacle quasi-variational inequality, therefore the two obstacles are implicitly given. We prove that the upper and lower value functions coincide, indeed we show, by means of the dynamic programming principle for the stochastic differential game, that they are the unique viscosity solution to the HJBI equation, therefore proving that the game admits a valu…
In this paper, we deal with the solutions of systems of PDEs with bilateral inter-connected obstacles of min-max and max-min types. These systems arise naturally in stochastic switching zero-sum game problems. We show that when the switching costs of one side are regular, the solutions of the min-max and max-min systems coincide. Then, this common viscosity solution is related to a multi-dimensional doubly reflected BSDE with bilateral interconnected obstacles. Finally, its relationship with the the values of a zero-sum switching game is studied.
Our study is dedicated to the probabilistic representation and numerical approximation of solutions to coupled systems of variational inequalities. The dynamics of each component of the solution is driven by a different linear parabolic operator and suffers a non-linear dependence in all the components of the solution. This dynamics is combined with a global structural constraint between all the components of the solution including the practical example of optimal switching problems. In this paper, we interpret the unique viscosity solution to this type of coupled systems of variational inequa…
We consider a class of backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) driven by Brownian motion and Poisson random measure, and subject to constraints on the jump component. We prove the existence and uniqueness of the minimal solution for the BSDEs by using a penalization approach. Moreover, we show that under mild conditions the minimal solutions to these constrained BSDEs can be characterized as the unique viscosity solution of quasi-variational inequalities (QVIs), which leads to a probabilistic representation for solutions to QVIs. Such a representation in particular gives a new stoch…
We extend the viscosity solution characterization proved in [5] for call/put American option prices to the case of a general payoff function in a multi-dimensional setting: the price satisfies a semilinear re-action/diffusion type equation. Based on this, we propose two new numerical schemes inspired by the branching processes based algorithm of [8]. Our numerical experiments show that approximating the discontinu-ous driver of the associated reaction/diffusion PDE by local polynomials is not efficient, while a simple randomization procedure provides very good results.
In [5] the authors obtained Mean-Field backward stochastic differential equations (BSDE) associated with a Mean-field stochastic differential equation (SDE) in a natural way as limit of some highly dimensional system of forward and backward SDEs, corresponding to a large number of ``particles'' (or ``agents''). The objective of the present paper is to deepen the investigation of such Mean-Field BSDEs by studying them in a more general framework, with general driver, and to discuss comparison results for them. In a second step we are interested in partial differential equations (PDE) whose solu…
