Transitions between different states of matter and their thermodynamic properties are described by the Equation of State (EoS). A universal representation of the EoS of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) for the wide range of phase diagram has yet to be determined. The expectation of the systems to undergo various types of transitions depending on the temperature (T), the chemical potential (μB), and other thermodynamic features make solving that puzzle challenging. Furthermore, it needs to be apparent which experimentally measurable observables could provide helpful information for determining EoS. The application of different EoS for hydrodynamical evolution was introduced in the EPOS3 generator, which allows one to study its changing effect on the experimental observables. The family of EoS proposed by the BEST Collaboration was implemented. The Critical Point (CP) location and the strength of criticality variations were investigated with particle yield, transverse momentum spectra, flow, and moments of the net-proton distributions.
A weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) is a leading candidate of the dark matter. The WIMP dark matter abundance is determined by the freeze-out mechanism. Once we know the property of the WIMP particle such as the mass and interaction, we can predict the dark matter abundance. There are, however, several uncertainties in the estimation of the WIMP dark matter abundance. In this work, we focus on the effect from Standard Model thermodynamics. We revisit the estimation of the WIMP dark matter abundance and its uncertainty due to the equation of state (EOS) in the Standard Model. We adopt …
We discuss the Hard Dense Loop resummation at finite quark mass and evaluate the equation of state (EoS) of cold and dense QCD matter in $β$ equilibrium. The resummation in the quark sector has an effect of lowering the baryon number density and the EoS turns out to have much smaller uncertainty than the perturbative QCD estimate. Our numerical results favor smooth matching between the EoS from the resummed QCD calculation at high density and the extrapolated EoS from the nuclear matter density region. We also point out that the speed of sound in our EoS slightly exceeds the conformal limit.

The Equation of State (EoS) of strongly interacting cold and hot ultra-dense QCD matter remains a major challenge in the field of nuclear astrophysics. With the advancements in measurements of neutron star masses, radii, and tidal deformabilities, from electromagnetic and gravitational wave observations, neutron stars play an important role in constraining the ultra-dense QCD matter EoS. In this work, we present a novel method that exploits deep learning techniques to reconstruct the neutron star EoS from mass-radius (M-R) observations. We employ neural networks (NNs) to represent the EoS in a…
We demonstrate in a general and analytic way how high-density information about the equation of state (EoS) of strongly interacting matter obtained using perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics (pQCD) constrains the same EoS at densities reachable in physical neutron stars. Our approach is based on utilizing the full information of the thermodynamic potentials at the high-density limit together with thermodynamic stability and causality. This requires considering the pressure as a function of chemical potential $p(μ)$ instead of the commonly used pressure as a function of energy density $p(ε)$. Th…
Nonperturbative equations of state (EoSs) for two and three quark flavors are constructed with the functional renormalization group (FRG) within a quark-meson model truncation augmented by vector mesons for low temperature and high density. Based on previous FRG studies without repulsive vector meson interactions the influence of isoscalar vector $ω$- and $ϕ$-mesons on the dynamical fluctuations of quarks and (pseudo)scalar mesons is investigated. The grand potential as well as vector meson condensates are evaluated as a function of quark chemical potential and the quark matter EoS in $β$-equi…
We study $\mathcal{N} = 4$ super Yang-Mills theory on the Coulomb branch (cSYM) in the strong coupling limit by using the AdS/CFT correspondence. The dual geometry is the rotating black 3-brane Type IIB supergravity solution with a single non-zero rotation parameter $r_{0}$ which sets a fixed mass scale corresponding to the scalar condensate $<\mathcal{O}>\,\,\sim r_{0}^4$ in the Coulomb branch. We introduce a new ensemble where $T$ and $<\mathcal{O}>$ are held fixed, i.e., the free energy $F(T,<\mathcal{O}>)$ is a function of $T$ and $<\mathcal{O}>$. We compute the equation of state (EoS) of …
The pressure and energy density of the quark-gluon plasma at finite baryon chemical potential are calculated using the Complex Langevin equation. The stout smearing procedure is generalized for the SL(3,$\mathcal{C}$) manifold allowing the usage of an improved action in the Complex Langevin setup. Four degenerate flavors of staggered quarks with $m_π=500-700$ MeV are used with a tree-level Symanzik improved gauge action on $16^3 \times 8 $ lattices. Results are compared to the Taylor expansion and good agreement is found for small chemical potentials.
We contribute a publicly available set of tables and code to provide Equations of State (EoS) for matter at neutron star densities. Our EoSes are constrained only by input from hadron physics and fundamental principles, without feedback from neutron star observations, and so without relying on General Relativity. They can therefore be used to test General Relativity itself, as well as modified gravity theories, with neutron star observables, without logical circularity. We have adapted state of the art results from NN chiral potentials for the low--density limit, pQCD results for the asymptoti…
