Chiral perturbation theory and its unitarized versions have played an important role in our understanding of the low-energy strong interaction. Yet, so far, such studies typically deal exclusively with perturbative or nonperturbative channels. In this letter, we report on the first global study of meson-baryon scattering up to one-loop order. It is shown that covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory, including its unitarization for the negative strangeness sector, can describe meson-baryon scattering data remarkably well. This provides a highly non-trivial check on the validity of this important low-energy effective field theory of QCD. We show that the $\bar{K}N$ related quantities can be better described in comparison with those of lower-order studies, and with reduced uncertainties due to the stringent constraints from the $πN$ and $K N$ phase shifts. In particular, we find that the two-pole structure of $Λ(1405)$ persists up to one-loop order reinforcing the existence of two-pole structures in dynamically generated states.
It has recently been claimed by Oller et al. [PRL 95 (2005) 172502] that the DEAR kaonic hydrogen data can be reconciled with K^- p scattering data in a chiral unitary approach. In this comment we demonstrate that the proposed solution violates fundamental principles of scattering theory.
We perform a combined analysis of antikaon-nucleon scattering cross sections and the recent SIDDHARTA kaonic hydrogen data in the framework of a coupled-channel Bethe-Salpeter approach at next-to-leading order in the chiral expansion of the effective potential. We find a precise description of the antikaon-proton scattering amplitudes and are able to extract accurate values of the scattering lengths, a0=-1.81^+0.30_-0.28 + i 0.92^+0.29_-0.23 fm, a1=+0.48^+0.12_-0.11 + i 0.87^+0.26_-0.20 fm. We also discuss the two-pole structure of the Lambda(1405).
In their Comment, Borasoy et al. [arXiv:hep-ph/0512279], criticize our results [PRL 95 (2005) 172502] that accommodate both scattering data and the new accurate measurement by DEAR of the shift and width of kaonic hydrogen. In our calculations we have employed unitary chiral perturbation theory (UCHPT). We discuss why their arguments are irrelevant or do not hold.
We overview the recent progress in the investigation of the antikaon dynamics with single nucleon and with few-body nuclei, based on chiral SU(3) symmetry. We first show how the Lambda(1405) resonance emerges from the coupled-channel Kbar N-pi Sigma interaction. Next, we present the construction of an up-to-date Kbar N interaction in response to the recent measurement of kaonic hydrogen. Finally, we discuss the possibility of the antikaon bound states in nuclei from the perspective of few-body physics.
Low energy \bar{K}N interactions are studied within Unitary Chiral Perturbation Theory at next-to-leading order with ten coupled channels. We pay special attention to the recent precise determination of the strong shift and width of the kaonic hydrogen 1s state by the DEAR Collaboration that has challenged our theoretical understanding of this sector of strong interactions. We typically find two classes of solutions, both of them reproducing previous data, that either can or cannot accommodate the DEAR measurements. The former class has not been previously discussed.
The properties of the Lambda(1405) resonance are key ingredients for determining the antikaon-nucleon interaction in strangeness nuclear physics, and the novel internal structure of the Lambda(1405) is of great interest in hadron physics, as a prototype case of a baryon that does not fit into the simple three-quark picture. We show that a quantitative description of the antikaon-nucleon interaction with the Lambda(1405) is achieved in the framework of chiral SU(3) dynamics, with the help of recent experimental progress. Further constraints on the Kbar N subthreshold interaction are provided by…
We propose a method to determine the isoscalar \bar K N scattering length on the lattice. Our method represents the generalization of Lüscher's approach in the presence of inelastic channels (complex scattering length). In addition, the proposed approach allows one to find the position of the S-matrix pole corresponding the the Lambda(1405) resonance.
We study the possibility to bind eight quarks in a molecular hadronic system composed of two nucleons and an antikaon, with the quantum numbers of a hexaquark flavour, in particular with strangeness -1, isospin 1/2, parity -, baryonic number 2 and two possible spins, 0 or 1. These exotic hadrons are motivated by the deuteron, a proton-neutron boundstate, and by the model of the Lambda(1405) as an antikaon proton boundstate. We discuss the possible production of this hadron in the experiments which are presently investigating hot topics like the Theta+ pentaquark or the K- deeply bound in nucle…
Stimulated by various experimental achievements, the study of Kbar N dynamics now enters a new phase. The two-body Kbar N interaction is largely constrained by recent experimental data, and the nature of the Lambda(1405) resonance is being unveiled by several theoretical analyses. These findings provide a basic tool for applications to Kbar-nuclear systems. We summarize the current status of the Kbar N phenomenology and outline the future direction in this field.
The properties of kaons and antikaons and their modification in isospin asymmetric nuclear matter are investigated using a chiral SU(3) model. These isospin dependent medium effects are important for asymmetric heavy ion collision experiments. In the present work, the medium modifications of the energies of the kaons and antikaons, within the asymmetric nuclear matter, arise due to the interactions of kaons and antikaons with the nucleons and scalar mesons. The values of the parameters in the model are obtained by fitting the saturation properties of nuclear matter and kaon-nucleon scattering …
$\bar{K}$-nucleon interactions are investigated in the framework of coupled-channels dynamics based on the next-to-leading order chiral SU(3) meson-baryon effective Lagrangian. A recent determination of the 1s shift and width of kaonic hydrogen enables us to set accurate constraints on the coupled-channels meson-baryon amplitudes in the strangeness $S=-1$ sector. Theoretical uncertainties in the subthreshold extrapolation of the coupled-channels amplitudes are discussed. Using this framework, we give predictions for $K^-$-neutron interactions and for the spectrum of the $Λ(1405)$ resonance. A …
The charged current antikaon production off nucleons induced by antineutrinos is studied at low and intermediate energies. We extend here our previous calculation on kaon production induced by neutrinos. We have developed a microscopic model that starts from the SU(3) chiral Lagrangians and includes background terms and the resonant mechanisms associated to the lowest lying resonance in the channel, namely, the Sigma*(1385). Our results could be of interest for the background estimation of various neutrino oscillation experiments like MiniBooNE and SuperK. They can also be helpful for the plan…
We study the near-threshold $J/ψ$ meson production on protons and nuclei by considering incoherent direct non-resonant $K^-p \to {J/ψ}Λ$ and two-step resonant ${K^-}p \to P_{cs}(4459)^0 \to {J/ψ}Λ$ charmonium production processes. We calculate the absolute excitation functions, energy and momentum distributions for the non-resonant, resonant and for the combined (non-resonant plus resonant) production of $J/ψ$ mesons off protons as well as off carbon and tungsten target nuclei at near-threshold incident antikaon energies by considering these elementary production channels as well as by assumin…
The in-medium masses of the kaons and antikaons in strongly magnetized asymmetric nuclear matter are studied using a chiral SU(3) model. The medium modifications of the masses of these open strange pseudoscalar mesons arise due to their interactions with the nucleons and scalar mesons within the model. The proton, the charged nucleon, has effects from the Landau energy levels in the presence of the magnetic field. The anomalous magnetic moments (AMM) of the nucleons are taken into consideration in the present study and these are seen to be large at high magnetic fields and high densities. The …
The role played by subthreshold meson-baryon dynamics is demonstrated in kaonic-atom, Kbar-nuclear and eta-nuclear bound-state calculations within in-medium models of Kbar-N and eta-N interactions. New analyses of kaonic atom data reveal appreciable multi-nucleon contributions. Calculations of eta-nuclear bound states show, in particular, that the eta-N scattering length is not a useful indicator of whether or not eta mesons bind in nuclei nor of the widths anticipated for such states.
Isospin effects on the optical potentials of kaons and antikaons in dense hadronic matter are investigated using a chiral SU(3) model. These effects are important for asymmetric heavy ion collision experiments. In the present work the dispersion relations are derived for kaons and antikaons, compatible with the low energy scattering data, within our model approach. The relations result from the kaonic interactions with the nucleons, vector mesons and scalar mesons in the asymmetric nuclear matter. The isospin asymmetry effects arising from the interactions with the vector-isovector $ρ$- meson …
The strange particle production induced by (anti)neutrino off nucleon has been studied for $|ΔS|=0$ and $|ΔS|=1$ channels. The reactions those we have considered are for the production of single kaon/antikaon, eta and associated particle production processes. We have developed a microscopical model based on the SU(3) chiral Lagrangian. The basic parameters of the model are $f_π$, the pion decay constant, Cabibbo angle, the proton and neutron magnetic moments and the axial vector coupling constants for the baryons octet. For antikaon production we have also included $Σ^*$(1385) resonance and fo…
Structure of light antikaon-nuclear quasi-bound states, which consist of an antikaon $(\bar{K}=K^-,~\bar{K}^0)$ and a few nucleons $(N=p,~n)$ such as $\bar{K}NN$, $\bar{K}NNN$, $\bar{K}NNNN$ and $\bar{K}NNNNNN$ systems, is studied with full three- to seven-body calculations. Employing a realistic $\bar{K}N$ potential based on the chiral SU(3) effective field theory with the SIDDHARTA constraint, we show that the central nucleon densities of these systems increases when the antikaon is injected, by about factor of two at maximum. The $\bar{K}NNNN$ system shows the largest central density, about…
On the possibility of testing the two-peak structure of the LHCb hidden-charm strange pentaquark $P_{cs}(4459)^0$ in near-threshold antikaon-induced charmonium production on protons and nuclei
Hadron-hadron scattering lengths are fine probes of our understanding of nonperturbative QCD. I discuss the status of a variety of scattering processes sensitive to the spontaneous and explicit chiral symmetry breaking of QCD, such as pion-pion, pion-kaon, pion-nucleon, antikaon-nucleon and Goldstone boson scattering off D-mesons. The fruitful interplay of theory, experiment and lattice QCD is emphasized. I point out what has to be done in these fields to gain further insight into these fundamental parameters.
The Lambda(1405) baryon resonance plays an outstanding role in various aspects in hadron and nuclear physics. It has been considered that the Lambda(1405) resonance is generated by the attractive interaction of the antikaon and the nucleon, as a quasi-bound state below the threshold decaying into the pi Sigma channel. Thus, the structure of Lambda(1405) is closely related to the Kbar N interaction which is the fundamental ingredient to study few-body systems with antikaon. In this paper, after reviewing the basic properties of the Lambda(1405) resonance, we introduce the dynamical coupled-chan…
The scattering of antikaons with nucleons is studied in the nuclear environment. Describing the $\lam$ as a $K^-$ proton bound state, we find, that due to the Pauli blocking of intermediate states, the mass of the $Λ(1405)$ is shifted upwards in energy, above the $K^-$ proton threshold and and its width is somewhat broadened. As a consequence the s-wave $K^-$--nucleon scattering length turns attractive at finite nucleon density ($ρ\geq 0.25 ρ_0$) leading to a mean field potential for the $K^-$ of about $\sim -100 \, \rm MeV$ in nuclear matter at ground state density. Consequences for Heavy Ion…
We investigate neutrino induced one pion production on nucleons. The elementary neutrino--nucleon cross section is calculated as the sum of the leading Delta pole diagram and several background diagrams obtained within the non-linear sigma model. This approach does not introduce any new adjustable parameters, which allows unambiguous predictions for the observables. Considering electroproduction experiments as benchmark, the model is shown to be applicable up to pion-nucleon invariant mass $W<1.4\GeV$ and provides a good accuracy. With respect to the total one pion cross section, the model pre…
A chiral unitary approach for antikaon-nucleon scattering in on-shell factorization is studied. We find multiple sets of parameters for which the model describes all existing hadronic data similarly well. We confirm the two-pole structure of the $Λ(1405)$. The narrow $Λ(1405)$ pole appears at comparable positions in the complex energy plane, whereas the location of the broad pole suffers from a large uncertainty. In the second step, we use a simple model for photoproduction of $K^+πΣ$ off the proton and confront it with the experimental data from the CLAS collaboration. It is found that only a…
The possibility of kaon condensation in high-density symmetric nuclear matter is investigated including both s- and p-wave kaon-baryon interactions within the relativistic mean-field (RMF) theory. Above a certain density, we have a collective ${\bar K}_s$ state carrying the same quantum numbers as the antikaon. The appearance of the ${\bar K}_s$ state is caused by the time component of the axial-vector interaction between kaons and baryons. It is shown that the system becomes unstable with respect to condensation of $K$-${\bar K}_s$ pairs. We consider how the effective baryon masses affect the…
We calculate the nonperturbative charmonium - nucleon cross sections with the model of the stochastic vacuum, which has been succesfully applied in many high energy reactions. We also give a quantitative discussion of pre-resonance formation and medium effects.
At low energies nucleon-nucleon interactions are resonant and therefore supernova matter at subnuclear densities has many similarities to atomic gases with interactions dominated by a Feshbach resonance. We calculate the rates of neutrino processes involving nucleon-nucleon collisions and show that these are enhanced in mixtures of neutrons and protons at subnuclear densities due to the large scattering lengths. As a result, the rate for neutrino pair bremsstrahlung and absorption is significantly larger below 10^{13} g cm^{-3} compared to rates used in supernova simulations.
The dependence of the nucleon polarization in the reaction $e^+ + e^- \to N + \bar{N} +π^0 $ over different invariant variables in frame of the non-resonant mechanism, has been derived. The nucleon polarization is expressed in terms of six invariant complex amplitudes, assuming the conservation of the hadron electromagnetic currents and the P-invariance of the hadron electromagnetic interaction. An inclusive experimental setup when the proton (or the antiproton) and the pion are detected in coincidence is considered. Numerical estimations were performed for the so called normal polarization in…
Nucleon resonance contributions to the inclusive proton $F_2$ and $F_L$ structure functions are computed from resonance electroexcitation amplitudes in the mass range up to 1.75 GeV extracted from CLAS exclusive meson electroproduction data. Taking into account for the first time quantum interference effects, the resonance contributions are compared with inclusive proton structure functions evaluated from $(e,e'X)$ cross section data and the longitudinal to transverse cross section ratio. Contributions from isospin-1/2 and 3/2 resonances remain substantial over the entire range of photon virtu…
The first CLAS12 experiments will provide high-precision data on inclusive electron scattering observables at a photon virtuality $Q^2$ ranging from 0.05 GeV$^2$ to 12 GeV$^2$ and center-of-mass energies $W$ up to 4 GeV. In view of this endeavour, we present the modeling of the resonant contributions to the inclusive electron scattering observables. As input, we use the existing CLAS electrocoupling results obtained from exclusive meson electroproduction data off protons, and evaluate for the first time the resonant contributions based on the experimental results on the nucleon resonance elect…

In $ν/\barν$-N/A interactions SIS is technically defined in terms of the four-momentum transfer to the hadronic system as non-resonant meson production with $Q^2 \lessapprox 1~GeV^2$. This non-resonant meson production intermixes with resonant meson production in a regime of similar effective hadronic mass W of the interaction. As $Q^2$ grows and surpasses this $\approx 1~GeV^2$ limit, non-resonant interactions begin to take place with quarks within the nucleon indicating the start of DIS region. SIS and DIS regions have received varying degrees of attention from the community. While the theor…
We review a global analysis of meson production reactions off the nucleons by a collaboration at Excited Baryon Analysis Center of Jefferson Lab. The analysis is pursued with a dynamical coupled-channels approach, within which the dynamics of multi-channel reaction processes are taken into account in a fully consistent way with the two-body as well as three-body unitarity of the S-matrix. With this approach, new features of nucleon excitations are revealed as resonant particles originating from the non-trivial multi-channel reaction dynamics, which cannot be addressed by static hadron models w…
This work represents an extension of the single pion production model proposed by D. Rein. The model consists of resonant pion production and nonresonant background contributions coming from three Born diagrams in the helicity basis. The new work includes lepton mass effects, and nonresonant interaction is described by five diagrams based on a nonlinear σ model. This work provides a full kinematic description of single pion production in the neutrino-nucleon interactions, including resonant and nonresonant interactions in the helicity basis, in order to study the interference effect.
We are aiming to study the $J/ψ\to p\bar{p}η'$ decay in an isobar model and the effective Lagrangian approach. After a careful exploration of the contributions of the $S_{11}(1535)$, $P_{11}(1710)$, $P_{13}(1900)$, $S_{11}(2090)$ and $P_{11}(2100)$ resonances, we conclude that either a subthreshold resonance or a broad $P$-wave state in the near threshold range seems to be indispensable to describe present data of the $πN \to η'N$. Furthermore, at least one broad resonance above $η'N$ threshold is preferred. With this detailed analysis, we could give the invariant mass spectrum and Dalitz plot…
The electromagnetic polarizabilities of the nucleon are shown to be essentially composed of the nonresonant $α_p(E_{0+})=+3.2$, $α_n(E_{0+})=+4.1$,the $t$-channel $α^t_{p,n}=-β^t_{p,n}=+7.6$ and the resonant $β_{p,n}(P_{33}(1232))=+8.3$ contributions (in units of $10^{-4}$fm$^3$. The remaining deviations from the experimental data $Δα_p=1.2\pm 0.6$, $Δβ_p=1.2\mp 0.6$, Δα_n=0.8\pm 1.7$ and $Δβ_n=2.0\mp 1.8$ are contributed by a larger number of resonant and nonresonant processes with cancellations between the contributions. This result confirms that dominant contributions to the electric and ma…
We calculate the shape of the $πΣ$ and $\bar K N$ invariant mass distributions in the $Λ_b \to J/ψ\, πΣ$ and $Λ_b \to J/ψ\,\bar K N$ decays that are dominated by the $Λ(1405)$ resonance. The weak interaction part is the same for both processes and the hadronization into the different meson-baryon channels in the final state is related by SU(3) symmetry. The most important feature is the implementation of the meson-baryon final-state interaction using two chiral unitary models from different theoretical groups. Both approaches give a good description of antikaon-nucleon scattering data, the com…
The BES collaboration has recently observed a strong enhancement close to the proton-antiproton threshold in the J/Psi decays into photon, proton and antiproton. Such a structure can be explained by a traditional nucleon-antinucleon model. The near threshold 1S0 bound state and/or the well-established 3P0 resonant state found in this nucleon-antinucleon interaction can adequately describe the BES data.
We have studied charged current neutrino/antineutrino induced weak pion production from nucleon. For the present study, contributions from $Δ(1232)$-resonant term, non-resonant background terms as well as contribution from higher resonances viz. $P_{11}$(1440), $D_{13}$(1520), $S_{11}$(1535), $S_{11}$(1650) and $P_{13}$(1720) are taken. To write the hadronic current for the non-resonant background terms, a microscopic approach based on SU(2) non-linear sigma model has been used. The vector form factors for the resonances are obtained from the helicity amplitudes provided by MAID. Axial couplin…
We review our theoretical approach to neutral current photon emission on nucleons and nuclei in the few-GeV energy region, relevant for neutrino oscillation experiments. These reactions are dominated by the weak excitation of the $Δ(1232)$ resonance but there are also important non-resonant contributions. We have also included terms mediated by nucleon excitations from the second resonance region. On nuclei, Pauli blocking, Fermi motion and the in-medium $Δ$ resonance broadening have been taken into account for both incoherent and coherent reaction channels. With this model, the number and dis…
The neutrino pion production off the nucleon is traditionally described in the literature by means of the weak excitation of the Delta(1232) resonance and its subsequent decay into N pi. Here, we present results from a model that includes also some background terms required by chiral symmetry. We show that the contribution of these terms is sizeable and leads to significant effects in total and partially integrated pion production cross sections at intermediate energies of interest for neutrino oscillation experiments. Finally, we discuss parity-violating contributions to the pion angular diff…
We evaluate a hadronic molecule formed by a heavy meson and a nucleon respecting heavy quark symmetry. The tensor force of pion exchange potential plays a dominate role to produce an strong attraction in this system. Solving coupled channel Schrödinger equations for PN and P* N, we find many bound and resonant states with isospin I=0 while there are few resonances in I=1 state. The rich structures with I=0 indicate that the spectrum of heavy baryons near the threshold is influenced by the contributions from such hadron composite structures.
We study heavy baryons with exotic flavor quantum numbers formed by a heavy meson and a nucleon (DbarN and BN) with positive parity. One pion exchange interaction, providing a tensor force, dominates as a long range force to bind the DbarN and BN ystems. In the heavy quark mass limit, pseudoscalar meson and vector meson are degenerate and the binding mechanism by the tensor force analogous to that in the nuclear systems becomes important. As a result, we obtain the DbarN and BN resonant states in the J^P=1/2^+, 3/2^+ and 5/2^+ channels with I=0.
We have provided a numerical study of the influence of the resonant active-sterile neutrino oscillations between electron and sterile neutrinos, on the primordial production of helium-4. The evolution of the neutrino ensembles was followed selfconsistently with the evolution of the nucleons, using exact kinetic equations for the neutrino density matrix and the nucleon number densities in momentum space, from the time of neutrino decoupling till the freeze-out of nucleons at 0.3 MeV. The exact kinetic approach enabled us to study precisely the neutrino depletion, spectrum distortion and neutrin…
Several theoretical groups describe the antikaon-nucleon interaction at low energies within approaches based on the chiral SU(3) dynamics and including next-to-leading order contributions. We present a comparative analysis of the pertinent models and discuss in detail their pole contents. It is demonstrated that the approaches lead to very different predictions for the $K^{-}p$ amplitude extrapolated to subthreshold energies as well as for the $K^{-}n$ amplitude. The origin of the poles generated by the models is traced to the so-called zero coupling limit, in which the inter-channel couplings…
In this work we study the $Σπ$ and $Λπ$ production off free nucleons driven by the strangeness-changing weak charged current. We calculate the total cross sections for all possible channels and estimate the flux-averaged total cross sections for experiments like MiniBooNE, SciBooNE, T2K, and Minerva. The model is based on the lowest order effective SU(3) chiral Lagrangians in the presence of an external weak charged current and contains Born and the lowest-lying decuplet resonant mechanisms that can contribute to these reaction channels. We also compare and discuss our results with others foll…
Lattice QCD calculations of resonant meson-meson scattering amplitudes have improved significantly due to algorithmic and computational advances. However, progress in meson-nucleon scattering has been slower due to difficulties in computing the necessary correlation functions, the exponential signal-to-noise problem, and the finite-volume treatment of scattering with fermions. Nonetheless, first benchmark calculations have now been performed. The status of lattice QCD calculations of meson-nucleon scattering amplitudes is reviewed together with comments on future prospects.
This paper presents an extension of the MK single pion production model \cite{MK, MK2} to high hadron invariant mass ($W$) and high momentum transfer to conform to the predictions of perturbative QCD due to quark-hadron duality. New form factors for several resonant interactions and non-resonant background in the electron-nucleon cross-sections are determined taking into account the experimental data and improved evaluation techniques. Fits to electron-proton scattering data are used to calculate the vector-current form factors, and to assign uncertainties to the constrained free parameters of…
The role of the nucleon resonances ($N^*$) in $ω$ photoproduction is investigated by using the resonance parameters predicted by Capstick and Roberts [Phys. Rev. D {\bf 46}, 2864 (1992); {\bf 49}, 4570 (1994)]. In contrast with the previous investigations based on the ${SU}(6) \times {O}(3)$ limit of the constituent quark model, the employed $N^* \to γN$ and $N^* \to ωN$ amplitudes include the configuration mixing effects due to the residual quark-quark interactions. The contributions from the nucleon resonances are found to be significant relative to the non-resonant amplitudes in changing th…
Neutral current single pion production induced by neutrinos and antineutrinos on nucleon targets has been investigated in manifestly relativistic baryon chiral perturbation theory with explicit $Δ(1232)$ degrees of freedom up to $\mathcal{O}(p^3)$. At low energies, where chiral perturbation theory is applicable, the total cross sections for the different reaction channels exhibit a sizable non-resonant contribution, which is not present in event generators of broad use in neutrino oscillation and cross section experiments such as GENIE and NuWro.
We study heavy baryons with an exotic flavor quantum number formed by a heavy meson and a nucleon (Dbar-N and B-N) through a long range one pion exchange interaction. The bound state found previously in the (I,JP) =(0,1/2-) channel survives when short range interaction is included. In addition, we find a resonant state with (I,JP)=(0,3/2-) as a Feshbach resonance predominated by a heavy vector meson and a nucleon (Dbar*-N and B*-N). We find that these exotic states exist for the charm and heavier flavor region.
We present a study of neutrino/antineutrino induced charged and neutral current single pion production off the nucleon. For this, we have considered $P_{33}(1232)$ resonance, non-resonant background terms, other higher resonances like $P_{11}(1440)$, $S_{11}(1535)$, $D_{13}(1520)$, $S_{11}(1650)$ and $P_{13}(1720)$. For the non-resonant background terms a microscopic approach based on SU(2) non-linear sigma model has been used. The vector form factors for the resonances are obtained by using the relationship between the electromagnetic resonance form factors and helicity amplitudes provided by…
Latest results from a study of baryon ground and resonant states within relativistic constituent quark models are reported. After recalling some typical spectral properties, the description of ground states, especially with regard to the nucleon and hyperon electromagnetic structures, is addressed. In the following, recent covariant predictions for pion, eta, and kaon partial decay widths of light and strange baryon resonances below 2 GeV are summarized. These results exhibit a characteristic pattern that is distinct from nonrelativistic or relativized decay studies performed so far. Together …
"GZK photons" are produced by extragalactic nucleons through the resonant photoproduction of pions. We present the expected range of the GZK photon fraction of UHECR, assuming a particular UHECR spectrum and primary nucleons, and compare it with the minimal photon fraction predicted by Top-Down models.
