The dissipative dynamics of the spin chain coupled to the non-Markovian magnonic reservoir was studied. The chirality of the chain is formed due to the magnetoelectric coupling. We explored the sign of the trace distance derivative and found the alternating positive/negative periods in system's time evolution. The negative sign is associated with the flow of information from the system to the bath and decrease in states distinguishability, while the positive sign is related to the flow of the information in the opposite direction and increase in distinguishability. We found the distinct effect of the applied electric and magnetic fields. While the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction and external electric field lead to reshuffling of the periods, the applied magnetic field leads to the swift positive-negative transitions. Thus, in the helical quantum rings coupled to the non-Markovian magnonic baths, it is possible to control the directions of information flow through the external fields.
The Markovianity of quantum dynamics is an important property of open quantum systems determined by various ingredients of the system and bath. Apart from the system-bath interaction, the initial state of the bath, etc., the dimension of the bath plays a critical role in determining the Markovianity of quantum dynamics, as a strict decay of the bath correlations requires an infinite dimension for the bath. In this work, we investigate the role of finite bath dimension in the Markovianity of quantum dynamics by considering a simple but nontrivial model in which a central spin is isotropically c…
We investigate the dynamics of information among the parties of tripartite systems. We start by proving two results concerning the monogamy of mutual information. The first one states that mutual information is monogamous for generic tripartite pure states. The second shows that in general mutual information is monogamous only if the amount of genuine tripartite correlations is large enough. Then, we analyze the internal dynamics of tripartite systems whose parties do not exchange energy. In particular, we allow for one of the subsystems to play the role of a finite thermal bath. As a result, …
We examine non-Markovian effects in an open quantum system from the point of view of information flow. To this end, we consider the spin-boson model with a cold reservoir, accounting for the exact time-dependent correlations between the system and the bath to study the exchange of information and heat. We use an information theoretic measure of the relevant memory effects and demonstrate that the information backflow from the reservoir to the system does not necessarily correlate with the backflow of heat. We also examine the influence of temperature and coupling strength on the loss and gain …
The phase synchronization of a single qubit in a dissipative bath in the absence of driving field is demonstrated. Using the Husimi $Q$-function we show that the phase preference is present in the long time limit only during non-Markovian evolution with a finite detuning. This happens due to the information backflow signifying that non-Markovianity is a resource for quantum synchronization. To quantify synchronization we use the shifted phase distribution as well as its maximal value. From the maximal value of the shifted phase distribution we observe the signatures of quantum synchronization …
The concept of non-Markovianity in open quantum systems is traditionally associated with the existence of information backflows from the environment to the system. Meanwhile, the mechanisms through which such backflows emerge are still a subject of debate. In this work, we use collision models to study memory effects in the dynamics of a qubit system in contact with a thermal bath made up of few ancillas, in which system-ancilla and ancilla-ancilla interactions are considered. In the single-ancilla limit case, we show that the system-bath information flow exhibits an interesting mixture of cha…
Under the Born--Markov approximation, a qubit system, such as a two-level atom, is known to undergo a memoryless decay of quantum coherence or excitation when weakly coupled to a featureless environment. Recently, it has been shown that unavoidable disorder in the environment is responsible for non-Markovian effects and information backflow from the environment into the system owing to Anderson localization. This~turns disorder into a resource for enhancing non-Markovianity in the system--environment dynamics, which could be of relevance in cavity quantum electrodynamics. Here we consider the …
We explore signatures of the non-Markovianity in the time-resolved energy transfer processes for quantum open systems. Focusing on typical systems such as the exact solvable damped Jaynes-Cummings model and the general spin-boson model, we establish quantitative links between the time-resolved energy current and the symmetric logarithmic derivative quantum Fisher information (SLD-QFI) flow, one of measures quantifying the non-Markovianity, within the framework of non-Markovian master equations in time-local forms. From the relationships, we find in the damped Jaynes-Cummings model that the SLD…
Variations of the bath energy are compared with the information flow in local dephasing channels. Special correlated initial conditions are prepared from the thermal equilibrium of the whole system, by performing a selective measurement on the qubit. The spectral densities under study are ohmic-like at low frequencies and include logarithmic perturbations of the power-law profiles. The bath and the correlation energy alternately increase or decrease, monotonically, over long times, according to the value of the ohmicity parameter, following logarithmic and power laws. Consider initial conditio…
An approach based on a non-Markovian time-convolutionless polaron master equation is used to probe the quantum dynamics of a chromophore-qubit in a super-Ohmic bath. Utilizing a measure of non-Markovianity based on dynamical fixed points, we study the effects of the environment temperature and the coupling strength on the non-Markovian behavior of the chromophore in a super-Ohmic bath. It is found that an increase in the temperature results in a reduction in the backflow information from the environment to the chromophore, and therefore, a suppression of non-Markovianity. In the weak coupling …
We study memory effects as information backflow for an accelerating two-level detector weakly interacting with a scalar field in the Minkowski vacuum. This is the framework of the well-known Unruh effect: the detector behaves as if it were in a thermal bath with a temperature proportional to its acceleration. Here we show that if we relax the usual assumption of an eternally uniformly accelerating system, and we instead consider the more realistic case in which a finite-size detector starts accelerating at a certain time, information backflow may appear in the dynamics. Our results demonstrate…
Strong coupling between a system and its environment leads to the emergence of non-Markovian dynamics, which cannot be described by a time-local master equation. One way to capture such dynamics is to use numerical real-time path integrals, where assuming a finite bath memory time enables manageable simulation scaling. However, by comparing to the exactly soluble independent boson model, we show that the presence of transient negative decay rates in the exact dynamics can result in simulations with unphysical exponential growth of density matrix elements when the finite memory approximation is…
As discovered by P. W. Anderson, excitations do not propagate freely in a disordered lattice, but, due to destructive interference, they localise. As a consequence when an atom interacts with a disordered lattice one indeed observes, a non-trivial excitation exchange between atom and lattice. Such non-trivial atomic dynamics will in general be characterised also by a non-trivial quantum information backflow, a clear signature of non-Markovian dynamics. To investigate the above scenario we consider a quantum emitter, or atom, weakly coupled to a uniform coupled-cavity array (CCA). If initially …
