The puzzle of Li-rich giant is still unsolved, contradicting the prediction of the standard stellar models. Although the exact evolutionary stages play a key role in the knowledge of Li-rich giants, a limited number of Li-rich giants have been taken with high-quality asteroseismic parameters to clearly distinguish the stellar evolutionary stages. Based on the LAMOST Data Release 7 (DR7), we applied a data-driven neural network method to derive the parameters for giant stars, which contain the largest number of Li-rich giants. The red giant stars are classified into three stages of Red Giant Branch (RGB), Primary Red Clump (PRC), and Secondary Red Clump (SRC) relying on the estimated asteroseismic parameters. In the statistical analysis of the properties (i.e. stellar mass, carbon, nitrogen, Li-rich distribution, and frequency) of Li-rich giants, we found that: (1) Most of the Li-rich RGB stars are suggested to be the descendants of Li-rich pre-RGB stars and/or the result of engulfment of planet or substellar companions; (2) The massive Li-rich SRC stars could be the natural consequence of Li depletion from the high-mass Li-rich RGB stars. (3) Internal mixing processes near the helium flash can account for the phenomenon of Li-rich on PRC that dominated the Li-rich giants. Based on the comparison of [C/N] distributions between Li-rich and normal PRC stars, the Li-enriched processes probably depend on the stellar mass.
Standard stellar evolution model predicts a severe depletion of lithium (Li) abundance during the first dredge up process (FDU). Yet a small fraction of giant stars are still found to preserve a considerable amount of Li in their atmospheres after the FDU. Those giants are usually identified as Li-rich by a widely used criterion, A(Li) > 1.5 dex. A large number of works dedicated to searching for investigating this minority of the giant family, and the amount of Li-rich giants, has been largely expanded on, especially in the era of big data. In this paper, we present a catalog of Li-rich giant…
In this era of large-scale stellar spectroscopic surveys, measurements of stellar attributes ("labels," i.e. parameters and abundances) must be made precise and consistent across surveys. Here, we demonstrate that this can be achieved by a data-driven approach to spectral modeling. With The Cannon, we transfer information from the APOGEE survey to determine precise Teff, log g, [Fe/H], and [$α$/M] from the spectra of 450,000 LAMOST giants. The Cannon fits a predictive model for LAMOST spectra using 9952 stars observed in common between the two surveys, taking five labels from APOGEE DR12 as gr…
We propose a method to search for stellar-mass black hole (BH) candidates with giant companions from spectroscopic observations. Based on the stellar spectra of LAMOST Data Release 6, we obtain a sample of seven giants in binaries with large radial velocity variation $ΔV_R > 80~{\rm km~s^{-1}}$. With the effective temperature, surface gravity, and metallicity provided by LAMOST, and the parallax given by {\it Gaia}, we can estimate the mass and radius of the giant, and therefore evaluate the possible mass of the optically invisible star in the binary. We show that the sources in our sample are…
We perform a discrimination procedure with the spectral index diagram of TiO5 and CaH2+CaH3 to separate M giants from M dwarfs. Using the M giant spectra identified from the LAMOST DR1 with high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), we have successfully assembled a set of M giant templates, which show more reliable spectral features. Combining with the M dwarf/subdwarf templates in Zhong et al. (2015), we present an extended M-type templates library which includes not only M dwarfs with well-defined temperature and metallicity grid but also M giants with subtype from M0 to M6. Then, the template-fit al…
A small fraction of giants possess photospheric lithium(Li) abundance higher than the value predicted by the standard stellar evolution models, and the detailed mechanisms of Li enhancement are complicated and lack a definite conclusion. In order to better understand the Li enhancement behaviors, a large and homogeneous Li-rich giants sample is needed. In this study, we designed a modified convolutional neural network model called Coord-DenseNet to determine the A(Li) of Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) low-resolution survey (LRS) giant spectra. The precision …

In this work, we present new catalogs of M giant and M dwarf stars from the LAMOST DR5. In total, 39,796 M giants and 501,152 M dwarfs are identified from the classification pipeline. The template-fitting results contain M giants with 7 temperature subtypes from M0 to M6, M dwarfs with 18 temperature subtypes from K7.0 to M8.5 and 12 metallicity subclasses from dMr to usdMp. We cross-matched our M-type catalog with the 2MASS and WISE catalog to obtain infrared magnitude and colors. Adopting the distances derived from the parallaxes in \gaia{} DR2, the M_G vs. (G_bp-G_rp)_0 diagram shows that t…
Obtaining accurate and precise masses and ages for large numbers of giant stars is of great importance for unraveling the assemblage history of the Galaxy. In this paper, we estimate masses and ages of 6940 red giant branch (RGB) stars with asteroseismic parameters deduced from \emph{Kepler} photometry and stellar atmospheric parameters derived from LAMOST spectra. The typical uncertainties of mass is a few per cent, and that of age is $\sim$\,20 per cent. The sample stars reveal two separate sequences in the age -- [$α$/Fe] relation -- a high--$α$ sequence with stars older than $\sim$\,8\,Gyr…
We measure carbon and nitrogen abundances to $\lesssim$ 0.1 dex for 450,000 giant stars from their low-resolution (R$\sim$1800) LAMOST DR2 survey spectra. We use these [C/M] and [N/M] measurements, together with empirical relations based on the APOKASC sample, to infer stellar masses and implied ages for 230,000 of these objects to 0.08 dex and 0.2 dex respectively. We use The Cannon, a data-driven approach to spectral modeling, to construct a predictive model for LAMOST spectra. Our reference set comprises 8125 stars observed in common between the APOGEE and LAMOST surveys, taking seven APOGE…

We present a catalog of stellar age and mass estimates for a sample of 640\,986 red giant branch (RGB) stars of the Galactic disk from the LAMOST Galactic Spectroscopic Survey (DR4). The RGB stars are distinguished from the red clump stars utilizing period spacing derived from the spectra with a machine learning method based on kernel principal component analysis (KPCA). Cross-validation suggests our method is capable of distinguishing RC from RGB stars with only 2 per cent contamination rate for stars with signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) higher than 50. The age and mass of these RGB stars are det…
Asteroseismology is one of the most accurate approaches to estimate the surface gravity of a star. However, most of the data from the current spectroscopic surveys do not have asteroseismic measurements, which is very expensive and time consuming. In order to improve the spectroscopic surface gravity estimates for a large amount of survey data with the help of the small subset of the data with seismic measurements, we set up a support vector regression model for the estimation of the surface gravity supervised by 1,374 LAMOST giant stars with Kepler seismic surface gravity. The new approach ca…
In this letter, we report the discovery of 24 new super Li-rich (A(Li) $\ge$ 3.2) giants of He-core burning phase at red clump region. Results are based on systematic search of a large sample of about 12,500 giants common to the LAMOST spectroscopic and Kepler time resolved photometric surveys. The two key parameters derived from Kepler data; average period spacing ($Δp$) between $l=1$ mixed gravity dominated g-modes and average large frequency separation ($Δν$) $l=0$ acoustic p-modes, suggest all the Li-rich giants are in He-core burning phase. This is the first unbiased survey subjected to a…
We have studied the zero-point offset of Gaia early Data Release 3 (EDR3) parallaxes based on a sample of 0.3 million giant stars built from the LAMOST data with distance accuracy better than 8.5\%. The official parallax zero-point corrections largely reduce the global offset in the Gaia EDR3 parallaxes: the global parallax offsets are $-$27.9 $μ$as and $-$26.5 $μ$as (before correction) and $+$2.6 $μ$as and $+$2.9 $μ$as (after correction) for the five- and six-parameter solutions, respectively. The bias of the raw parallax measurements is significantly dependent on the $G$ magnitudes, spectral…
We present estimates of stellar age and mass for 0.93 million Galactic disk main sequence turn-off and sub-giant stars from the LAMOST Galactic Spectroscopic Surveys. The ages and masses are determined by matching with stellar isochrones using Bayesian algorithm, utilizing effective temperature $T_{\rm eff}$, absolute magnitude ${\rm M}_V$, metallicity [Fe/H] and $α$-element to iron abundance ratio [$α$/Fe] deduced from the LAMOST spectra. Extensive examinations suggest the age and mass estimates are robust. The overall sample stars have a median error of 34 per cent for the age estimates, and…
We undertake a critical and comprehensive comparison of the radial velocities and the main stellar atmospheric parameters for stars in common between the latest data releases from the APOGEE and the LAMOST surveys. There is a total of 42,420 dwarfs/giants stars in common between the APOGEE DR14 - LAMOST DR3 stellar catalogs. A comparison between the RVs shows an offset of 4.54 $\pm$ 0.03 km/s, with a dispersion of 5.8 km/s, in the sense that APOGEE RVs are larger. We observe a small offset in the Teff of about 13 K, with a scatter of 155 K. Small offset in [Fe/H] of about 0.06 dex together wit…
Mapping lithium evolution for evolved stars will provide restrictions and constraints on the fundamental stellar interior physical processes, which further shed light on our understanding of the theory of stellar structure and evolution. Based on a sample of 1,848 giants with known evolutionary phases and lithium abundances from the LAMOST-\kepler{} and LAMOST-\emph{K}2 fields, we construct mass-radius diagrams to characterize the evolutionary features of lithium. The stars at red giant branch (RGB) phase show natural depletion along with their stellar evolution, particularly, there is no obvi…
Two Li-rich candidates, TYC 1338-1410-1 and TYC 2825-596-1, were observed with the new high-resolution echelle spectrograph, LAMOST/HRS. Based on the high-resolution and high-signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) spectra, we derived stellar parameters and abundances of 14 important elements for the two candidates. The stellar parameters and lithium abundances indicate that they are Li-rich K-type giants, and they have A(Li)$_\mathrm{NLTE}$ of 1.77 and 2.91 dex, respectively. Our analysis suggests that TYC 1338-1410-1 is likely a red giant branch (RGB) star at the bump stage, while TYC 2825-596-1 is most…
We propose a new model to determine the ages and masses of red giant branch (RGB) stars from the low-resolution large sky area multi-object fiber spectroscopic telescope (LAMOST) spectra. The ages of RGB stars are difficult to determine using classical isochrone fitting techniques in the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram, because isochrones of RGB stars are tightly crowned. With the help of the asteroseismic method, we can determine the masses and ages of RGB stars accurately. Using the ages derived from the asteroseismic method, we train a deep learning model based on DenseNet to calculate the ages…
Symbiotic stars are interacting binary systems with the longest orbital periods. They are typically formed by a white dwarf, a red giant and a nebula. These objects are natural astrophysical laboratories for studying the evolution of binaries. Current estimates of the population of Milky Way symbiotic stars vary from 3000 up to 400000. However, the current census is less than 300. The Large sky Area Multi-Object fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) survey can obtain hundreds of thousands of stellar spectra per year, providing a good opportunity to search for new symbiotic stars. In this work…
The discovery of Li-rich giant has cast a new challenge for the standard stellar evolution models, and to resolve this issue, the number of this type object has been rapidly increased because of the development of worldwide surveys these days. Taking advantage of the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope survey, 44 newly Li-rich giants are reported, which are confirmed with high-resolution observations. Based on the high-resolution and high signal-to-noise spectra, we derived the atmospheric parameters and elemental abundances with the spectral synthesis method. We performe…
LAMOST J202629.80+423652.0 has been recently classified as a new symbiotic star containing a long-period Mira, surrounded by dust (D-type) and displaying in the optical spectra high ionization emission lines, including the Raman-scattered OVI at 6825 Ang. We have observed LAMOST J202629.80+423652.0 photometrically in the BVRI bands and spectroscopically over the 3500-8000 Ang range. We have found it to be a normal G8IV sub-giant star, deprived of any emission line in its spectrum, and reddened by E(B-V)=0.35 mag. Combining our photometry with data from all-sky patrol surveys, we find LAMOST J2…
In this work we present the results of our analysis of 16,300 medium-resolution LAMOST spectra of late-type stars in the Kepler field with the aim of determining the stellar parameters, activity level, lithium atmospheric content, and binarity. We have used a version of the code ROTFIT specifically developed for these spectra. We provide a catalog with the atmospheric parameters (Teff, log(g), and [Fe/H]), radial velocity (RV), and projected rotation velocity (vsini). For cool stars (Teff < 6500 K), we also calculated the H-alpha and LiI-6708 equivalent width, which are important indicators of…

The LAMOST Medium-Resolution Spectroscopic Survey (LAMOST-MRS) provides an unprecedented opportunity for detecting multi-line spectroscopic systems. Based on the method of Cross-Correlation Function (CCF) and successive derivatives, we search for spectroscopic binaries and triples and derive their radial velocities (RVs) from the LAMOST-MRS spectra. A Monte-Carlo simulation is adopted to estimate the RV uncertainties. After examining over 1.3 million LAMOST DR7 MRS blue arm spectra, we obtain 3,133 spectroscopic binary (SB) and 132 spectroscopic triple (ST) candidates, which account for 1.2% o…
We have compared the stellar parameters, temperature, gravity and metallicity, between the LAMOST-DR2 and SDSS-DR12/APOGEE database for stars in common. It is found that the LAMOST database provides a better red-clump feature than the APOGEE database in the Teff versus logg diagram. With this advantage, we have separated red clump stars from red giant stars, and attempt to establish the calibrations between the two datasets for the two groups of stars respectively. It shows that there is a good consistency in temperature with a calibration close to the one-to-one line, and we can establish a s…
Here we present the discovery of 895 s-process-rich candidates from 454,180 giant stars observed by the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fibre Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) using a data-driven approach. This sample constitutes the largest number of s-process enhanced stars ever discovered. Our sample includes 187 s-process-rich candidates that are enhanced in both barium and strontium, 49 stars with significant barium enhancement only and 659 stars that show only a strontium enhancement. Most of the stars in our sample are in the range of effective temperature and log g typical of red giant bran…
We present a new analysis of the LAMOST DR1 survey spectral database performed with the code SP_Ace, which provides the derived stellar parameters T$_{\rm eff}$, log (g), [Fe/H], and [$α$/Fe] for 1,097,231 stellar objects. We tested the reliability of our results by comparing them to reference results from high spectral resolution surveys. The expected errors can be summarized as $\sim$120 K in T$_{\rm eff}$, $\sim$0.2 in log (g), $\sim$0.15 dex in [Fe/H], and $\sim$0.1 dex in [$α$/Fe] for spectra with S/N$>$40, with some differences between dwarf and giant stars. SP_Ace provides error estimat…
We report the discovery of an extremely metal-poor (EMP) giant, LAMOST J110901.22+075441.8, which exhibits large excess of r-process elements with [Eu/Fe] ~ +1.16. The star is one of the newly discovered EMP stars identified from LAMOST low-resolution spectroscopic survey and the high-resolution follow-up observation with the Subaru Telescope. Stellar parameters and elemental abundances have been determined from the Subaru spectrum. Accurate abundances for a total of 23 elements including 11 neutron-capture elements from Sr through Dy have been derived for LAMOST J110901.22+075441.8. The abund…
Carbon stars, enhanced in carbon and neutron-capture elements, provide wealth of information about the nucleosynthesis history of the Galaxy. Updates on the abundances of elements C, O, Mg, Ca, Cr, Mn and Ni for LAMOSTJ151003.74+305407.3 are also presented. Our analysis is based on high resolution spectra obtained using Hanle Echelle Spectrograph (HESP) attached to the Himalayan Chand…
Asteroseismology is a powerful tool to precisely determine the evolutionary status and fundamental properties of stars. With the unprecedented precision and nearly continuous photometric data acquired by the NASA Kepler mission, parameters of more than 10$^4$ stars have been determined nearly consistently. However, most studies still use photometric effective temperatures (Teff) and metallicities ([Fe/H]) as inputs, which are not sufficiently accurate as suggested by previous studies. We adopted the spectroscopic Teff and [Fe/H] values based on the LAMOST low-resolution spectra (R~1,800), and …
We present the results from a systematic study of temporal variation of stellar activity in young late-type stars. We used multi-epoch LAMOST low-resolution spectra of over 300 member candidates in three young open clusters: Pleiades, Praesepe, and Hyades. The spectral measurements of TiO band strength near 7050 Å (TiO2) and equivalent width of Hα line (EW Hα ) are used as the tracers of cool-spot coverage and chromospheric emission strength, respectively. The analysis of time-variation patterns of these two tracers suggested there exist detectable variabilities in TiO2 and EW Hα , and their t…
We selected 82 u-band variable objects based on the u-band photometry data from SCUSS and SDSS, in the field of LAMOST Complete Spectroscopic Survey of Pointing Area at Southern Galactic Cap. The magnitude variation of the targets is restricted to larger than 0.2 mag and limiting magnitude down to 19.0 mag in u-band. According to the spectra from LAMOST, there are 11 quasars with red-shift between 0.4 and 1.8, 60 variable stars and 11 unidentified targets. The variable stars include one active M-dwarf with a series of Balmer emission lines, seven Horizontal Branch stars containing six RR Lyrae…
Large stellar surveys are revealing the chemodynamical structure of the Galaxy across a vast spatial extent. However, the many millions of low-resolution spectra observed to date are yet to be fully exploited. We employ The Cannon, a data-driven approach to estimating abundances, to obtain detailed abundances from low-resolution (R = 1800) LAMOST spectra, using the GALAH survey as our reference. We deliver five (for dwarfs) or six (for giants) estimated abundances representing five different nucleosynthetic channels, for 3.9 million stars, to a precision of 0.05 - 0.23 dex. Using wide binary p…
High-precision stellar mass and radius measured directly from binaries can effectively calibrate the stellar models. However, such a database containing full spectral types and large range of metallicity is still not fully established. A continuous effort of data collecting and analysis are requested to complete the database. In this work, we provide a catalog containing 184 binaries with independent atmospheric parameters and accurate masses and radii as the benchmark of stellar mass and radius. The catalog contains 56 new detached binaries from LAMOST Medium-resolution spectroscopic (MRS) su…
Main sequence turn-off (MSTO) stars have advantages as indicators of Galactic evolution since their ages could be robustly estimated from atmospheric parameters. Hundreds of thousands of MSTO stars have been selected from the LAMOST Galactic sur- vey to study the evolution of the Galaxy, and it is vital to derive accurate stellar parameters. In this work, we select 150 MSTO star candidates from the MSTO stars sample of Xiang that have asteroseismic parameters and determine accurate stellar parameters for these stars combing the asteroseismic parameters deduced from the Kepler photometry and at…

The radius valley, a dip in the radius distribution of exoplanets at ~1.9 Earth radii separates compact rocky Super-Earths and Sub-Neptunes with lower density. Various hypotheses have been put forward to explain the radius valley. Characterizing the radius valley morphology and its correlation to stellar properties will provide crucial observation constraints on its origin mechanism and deepen the understanding of planet formation and evolution. In this paper, the third part of the Planets Across the Space and Time (PAST) series, using the LAMOST-Gaia-Kepler catalog, we perform a systematical …
We download the LAMOST DR8 low resolution catalog 6,478,063 AFGK tpye stars and plot the figures of effective temperature, gravitational acceleration, and metal abundance. Some small and medium mass stars are evolved from pre-main sequence or main sequence stage to planetary nebula stage or white dwarf stage by the stellar evolution code \texttt{MESA}. We analyze the observed statistical data and model calculation results, and then obtain some basic conclusions preliminarily. Most red giant and asymptotic giant stars with log$g$ less than 0.85 have poor metal abundance. Most hot A type main-se…
We present the results of the high-resolution (R$\sim$60,000) spectroscopic analysis of the star LAMOSTJ045019.27+394758.7 (hereafter J045) from the list of carbon stars of LAMOST DR2. From our analysis, we find that J045 does not exhibit the spectral characteristics of carbon stars. It is found to be a metal-poor ( [Fe/H] = $-$1.05) giant that shows very unusual elemental abundances, particularly for N, Na, V, and Zn. J045 shows $α$-elements (Mg, Si, Ca) with near-solar values ($<$[$α$/Fe]$>$ = 0.09) in contrast to Galactic stars that show [$α$/Fe] in the range 0.2 to 0.3 dex. In J045, Sc and…
We present homogeneous abundance analysis of over 20 elements for 385 very metal-poor (VMP) stars based on the LAMOST survey and follow-up observations with the Subaru Telescope. It is the largest high-resolution VMP sample (including 363 new objects) studied by a single program, and the first attempt to accurately determine evolutionary stages for such a large sample based on Gaia parallaxes. The sample covers a wide metallicity range from [Fe/H]=-1.7 down to [Fe/H]=-4.3, including over 110 objects with [Fe/H]<-3.0. The expanded coverage in evolutionary status makes it possible to define abun…
The correlation between host star iron abundance and the exoplanet occurrence rate is well-established and arrived at in several studies. Similar correlations may be present for the most abundant elements, such as carbon and oxygen, which also control the dust chemistry of the protoplanetary disk. In this paper, using a large number of stars in the Kepler field observed by the LAMOST survey, it has been possible to estimate the planet occurrence rate with respect to the host star carbon abundance. Carbon abundances are derived using synthetic spectra fit of the CH G-band region in the LAMOST s…
The Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) Low Resolution Spectroscopic Survey (LRS) provides massive spectroscopic data of M-type stars, and the derived stellar parameters could bring vital help to various studies. We adopt the ULySS package to perform $χ^2$ minimization with model spectra generated from the MILES interpolator, and determine the stellar atmospheric parameters for the M-type stars from LAMOST LRS Data Release (DR) 8. Comparison with the stellar parameters from APOGEE Stellar Parameter and Chemical Abundance Pipeline (ASPCAP) suggests that most of ou…
All of the 14 subfields of the Kepler field have been observed at least once with the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST, Xinglong Observatory, China) during the 2012-2014 observation seasons. There are 88,628 reduced spectra with SNR$_g$ (signal-to-noise ratio in g band) $\geq$ 6 after the first round (2012-2014) of observations for the LAMOST-Kepler project (LK-project). By adopting the upgraded version of the LAMOST Stellar Parameter pipeline (LASP), we have determined the atmospheric parameters ($T_{\rm eff}$ , $\log g$, and $\rm [Fe/H]$) and heliocentric rad…
