While weakly supervised multi-view face reconstruction (MVR) is garnering increased attention, one critical issue still remains open: how to effectively interact and fuse multiple image information to reconstruct high-precision 3D models. In this regard, we propose a novel pipeline called Deep Fusion MVR (DF-MVR) to explore the feature correspondences between multi-view images and reconstruct high-precision 3D faces. Specifically, we present a novel multi-view feature fusion backbone that utilizes face masks to align features from multiple encoders and integrates one multi-layer attention mechanism to enhance feature interaction and fusion, resulting in one unified facial representation. Additionally, we develop one concise face mask mechanism that facilitates multi-view feature fusion and facial reconstruction by identifying common areas and guiding the network's focus on critical facial features (e.g., eyes, brows, nose, and mouth). Experiments on Pixel-Face and Bosphorus datasets indicate the superiority of our model. Without 3D annotation, DF-MVR achieves 5.2% and 3.0% RMSE improvement over the existing weakly supervised MVRs respectively on Pixel-Face and Bosphorus dataset. Code will be available publicly at https://github.com/weiguangzhao/DF_MVR.

Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) have been applied to age-related research as the core framework. Although faces are composed of numerous facial attributes, most works with CNNs still consider a face as a typical object and do not pay enough attention to facial regions that carry age-specific feature for this particular task. In this paper, we propose a novel CNN architecture called Fusion Network (FusionNet) to tackle the age estimation problem. Apart from the whole face image, the FusionNet successively takes several age-specific facial patches as part of the input to emphasize the age-sp…
In this paper we present a comparative study on fusion of visual and thermal images using different wavelet transformations. Here, coefficients of discrete wavelet transforms from both visual and thermal images are computed separately and combined. Next, inverse discrete wavelet transformation is taken in order to obtain fused face image. Both Haar and Daubechies (db2) wavelet transforms have been used to compare recognition results. For experiments IRIS Thermal/Visual Face Database was used. Experimental results using Haar and Daubechies wavelets show that the performance of the approach pres…
This paper presents a real-time face recognition system using kinect sensor. The algorithm is implemented on GPU using opencl and significant speed improvements are observed. We use kinect depth image to increase the robustness and reduce computational cost of conventional LBP based face recognition. The main objective of this paper was to perform robust, high speed fusion based face recognition and tracking. The algorithm is mainly composed of three steps. First step is to detect all faces in the video using viola jones algorithm. The second step is online database generation using a tracking…
In this paper we present a technique for fusion of optical and thermal face images based on image pixel fusion approach. Out of several factors, which affect face recognition performance in case of visual images, illumination changes are a significant factor that needs to be addressed. Thermal images are better in handling illumination conditions but not very consistent in capturing texture details of the faces. Other factors like sunglasses, beard, moustache etc also play active role in adding complicacies to the recognition process. Fusion of thermal and visual images is a solution to overco…
Uni-modal identification systems are vulnerable to errors in sensor data collection and are therefore more likely to misidentify subjects. For instance, relying on data solely from an RGB face camera can cause problems in poorly lit environments or if subjects do not face the camera. Other identification methods such as electrocardiograms (ECG) have issues with improper lead connections to the skin. Errors in identification are minimized through the fusion of information gathered from both of these models. This paper proposes a methodology for combining the identification results of face and E…

Biometrics plays a significant role in vision-based surveillance applications. Soft biometrics such as gait is widely used with face in surveillance tasks like person recognition and re-identification. Nevertheless, in practical scenarios, classical fusion techniques respond poorly to changes in individual users and in the external environment. To this end, we propose a novel adaptive multi-biometric fusion strategy for the dynamic incorporation of gait and face biometric cues by leveraging keyless attention deep neural networks. Various external factors such as viewpoint and distance to the c…

This paper demonstrates two different fusion techniques at two different levels of a human face recognition process. The first one is called data fusion at lower level and the second one is the decision fusion towards the end of the recognition process. At first a data fusion is applied on visual and corresponding thermal images to generate fused image. Data fusion is implemented in the wavelet domain after decomposing the images through Daubechies wavelet coefficients (db2). During the data fusion maximum of approximate and other three details coefficients are merged together. After that Prin…
Training data are critical in face recognition systems. However, labeling a large scale face data for a particular domain is very tedious. In this paper, we propose a method to automatically and incrementally construct datasets from massive weakly labeled data of the target domain which are readily available on the Internet under the help of a pretrained face model. More specifically, given a large scale weakly labeled dataset in which each face image is associated with a label, i.e. the name of an identity, we create a graph for each identity with edges linking matched faces verified by the e…
We present a fully automatic approach to real-time 3D face reconstruction from monocular in-the-wild videos. With the use of a cascaded-regressor based face tracking and a 3D Morphable Face Model shape fitting, we obtain a semi-dense 3D face shape. We further use the texture information from multiple frames to build a holistic 3D face representation from the video frames. Our system is able to capture facial expressions and does not require any person-specific training. We demonstrate the robustness of our approach on the challenging 300 Videos in the Wild (300-VW) dataset. Our real-time fitti…

In proposed approach, the recognition system operates in two modes: training and classification. Training mode involves normalization of the face images (training set), extracting appropriate features using Principle Component Analysis (PCA) and Independent Component Analysis (ICA). Th…

Recently, deep learning based 3D face reconstruction methods have shown promising results in both quality and efficiency. However, training deep neural networks typically requires a large volume of data, whereas face images with ground-truth 3D face shapes are scarce. In this paper, we propose a novel deep 3D face reconstruction approach that 1) leverages a robust, hybrid loss function for weakly-supervised learning which takes into account both low-level and perception-level information for supervision, and 2) performs multi-image face reconstruction by exploiting complementary information fro…

Although much progress has been made recently in 3D face reconstruction, most previous work has been devoted to predicting accurate and fine-grained 3D shapes. In contrast, relatively little work has focused on generating high-fidelity face textures. Compared with the prosperity of photo-realistic 2D face image generation, high-fidelity 3D face texture generation has yet to be studied. In this paper, we proposed a novel UV map generation model that predicts the UV map from a single face image. The model consists of a UV sampler and a UV generator. By selectively sampling the input face image's…
Regardless of the usage of deep learning and handcrafted methods, the dynamic information from videos and the effect of cross-ethnicity are rarely considered in face anti-spoofing. In this work, we propose a static-dynamic fusion mechanism for multi-modal face anti-spoofing. Inspired by motion divergences between real and fake faces, we incorporate the dynamic image calculated by rank pooling with static information into a conventional neural network (CNN) for each modality (i.e., RGB, Depth and infrared (IR)). Then, we develop a partially shared fusion method to learn complementary informatio…

This paper presents a comparative study of two different methods, which are based on fusion and polar transformation of visual and thermal images. Here, investigation is done to handle the challenges of face recognition, which include pose variations, changes in facial expression, partial occlusions, variations in illumination, rotation through different angles, change in scale etc. To overcome these obstacles we have implemented and thoroughly examined two different fusion techniques through rigorous experimentation. In the first method log-polar transformation is applied to the fused images …
We introduce a deep convolutional neural networks (CNN) architecture to classify facial attributes and recognize face images simultaneously via a shared learning paradigm to improve the accuracy for facial attribute prediction and face recognition performance. In this method, we use facial attributes as an auxiliary source of information to assist CNN features extracted from the face images to improve the face recognition performance. Specifically, we use a shared CNN architecture that jointly predicts facial attributes and recognize face images simultaneously via a shared learning parameters,…
With the rapid development of deep learning technology, more and more face forgeries by deepfake are widely spread on social media, causing serious social concern. Face forgery detection has become a research hotspot in recent years, and many related methods have been proposed until now. For those images with low quality and/or diverse sources, however, the detection performances of existing methods are still far from satisfactory. In this paper, we propose an improved Xception with dual attention mechanism and feature fusion for face forgery detection. Different from the middle flow in origin…
In this paper fusion of visual and thermal images in wavelet transformed domain has been presented. Here, Daubechies wavelet transform, called as D2, coefficients from visual and corresponding coefficients computed in the same manner from thermal images are combined to get fused coefficients. After decomposition up to fifth level (Level 5) fusion of coefficients is done. Inverse Daubechies wavelet transform of those coefficients gives us fused face images. The main advantage of using wavelet transform is that it is well-suited to manage different image resolution and allows the image decomposi…
Gender classification aims at recognizing a person's gender. Despite the high accuracy achieved by state-of-the-art methods for this task, there is still room for improvement in generalized and unrestricted datasets. In this paper, we advocate a new strategy inspired by the behavior of humans in gender recognition. Instead of dealing with the face image as a sole feature, we rely on the combination of isolated facial features and a holistic feature which we call the foggy face. Then, we use these features to train deep convolutional neural networks followed by an AdaBoost-based score fusion to…

This paper presents a feature level fusion approach which uses the improved K-medoids clustering algorithm and isomorphic graph for face and palmprint biometrics. Partitioning around medoids (PAM) algorithm is used to partition the set of n invariant feature points of the face and palmprint images into k clusters. By partitioning the face and palmprint images with scale invariant features SIFT points, a number of clusters is formed on both the images. Then on each cluster, an isomorphic graph is drawn. In the next step, the most probable pair of graphs is searched using iterative relaxation al…
We revisit the weakly supervised cross-modal face-name alignment task; that is, given an image and a caption, we label the faces in the image with the names occurring in the caption. Whereas past approaches have learned the latent alignment between names and faces by uncertainty reasoning over a set of images and their respective captions, in this paper, we rely on appropriate loss functions to learn the alignments in a neural network setting and propose SECLA and SECLA-B. SECLA is a Symmetry-Enhanced Contrastive Learning-based Alignment model that can effectively maximize the similarity score…

Although deep learning has yielded impressive performance for face recognition, many studies have shown that different networks learn different feature maps: while some networks are more receptive to pose and illumination others appear to capture more local information. Thus, in this work, we propose a deep heterogeneous feature fusion network to exploit the complementary information present in features generated by different deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) for template-based face recognition, where a template refers to a set of still face images or video frames from different sourc…

Disguised face identification (DFI) is an extremely challenging problem due to the numerous variations that can be introduced using different disguises. This paper introduces a deep learning framework to first detect 14 facial key-points which are then utilized to perform disguised face identification. Since the training of deep learning architectures relies on large annotated datasets, two annotated facial key-points datasets are introduced. The effectiveness of the facial keypoint detection framework is presented for each keypoint. The superiority of the key-point detection framework is also…

With the increasing popularity of convolutional neural networks (CNNs), recent works on face-based age estimation employ these networks as the backbone. However, state-of-the-art CNN-based methods treat each facial region equally, thus entirely ignoring the importance of some facial patches that may contain rich age-specific information. In this paper, we propose a face-based age estimation framework, called Attention-based Dynamic Patch Fusion (ADPF). In ADPF, two separate CNNs are implemented, namely the AttentionNet and the FusionNet. The AttentionNet dynamically locates and ranks age-speci…
The paper addresses face presentation attack detection in the challenging conditions of an unseen attack scenario where the system is exposed to novel presentation attacks that were not present in the training step. For this purpose, a pure one-class face presentation attack detection approach based on kernel regression is developed which only utilises bona fide (genuine) samples for training. In the context of the proposed approach, a number of innovations, including multiple kernel fusion, client-specific modelling, sparse regularisation and probabilistic modelling of score distributions are…
This paper presents a concept of image pixel fusion of visual and thermal faces, which can significantly improve the overall performance of a face recognition system. Several factors affect face recognition performance including pose variations, facial expression changes, occlusions, and most importantly illumination changes. So, image pixel fusion of thermal and visual images is a solution to overcome the drawbacks present in the individual thermal and visual face images. Fused images are projected into eigenspace and finally classified using a multi-layer perceptron. In the experiments we ha…
Obtaining demographics information from video is valuable for a range of real-world applications. While approaches that leverage facial features for gender inference are very successful in restrained environments, they do not work in most real-world scenarios when the subject is not facing the camera, has the face obstructed or the face is not clear due to distance from the camera or poor resolution. We propose a weakly-supervised method for learning gender information of people based on their manner of walking. We make use of state-of-the art facial analysis models to automatically annotate f…

Therefore, in this work, we propose a CNN network with feedback structure for Solar power plant detection on middle-resolution satellite images. To express the strength of the top-down connections, we introduce feedback CNN network (FB-Net) to a baseline CNN model used for solar power plant classification on multi-spectral satellite dat…

For multimodal tasks, a good feature extraction network should extract information as much as possible and ensure that the extracted feature embedding and other modal feature embedding have an excellent mutual understanding. The latter is often more critical in feature fusion than the former. Therefore, selecting the optimal feature extraction network collocation is a very important subproblem in multimodal tasks. Most of the existing studies ignore this problem or adopt an ergodic approach. This problem is modeled as an optimization problem in this paper. A novel method is proposed to convert…

The performance of face detectors has been largely improved with the development of convolutional neural network. However, it remains challenging for face detectors to detect tiny, occluded or blurry faces. Besides, most face detectors can't locate face's position precisely and can't achieve high Intersection-over-Union (IoU) scores. We assume that problems inside are inadequate use of supervision information and imbalance between semantics and details at all level feature maps in CNN even with Feature Pyramid Networks (FPN). In this paper, we present a novel single-shot face detection network…

Face recognition has already been well studied under the visible light and the infrared,in both intra-spectral and cross-spectral cases. However, how to fuse different light bands, i.e., hyperspectral face recognition, is still an open research problem, which has the advantages of richer information retaining and all-weather functionality over single band face recognition. Among the very few works for hyperspectral face recognition, traditional non-deep learning techniques are largely used. Thus, we in this paper bring deep learning into the topic of hyperspectral face recognition, and propose…

Recognizing a face based on its attributes is an easy task for a human to perform as it is a cognitive process. In recent years, Face Recognition is achieved with different kinds of facial features which were used separately or in a combined manner. Currently, Feature fusion methods and parallel methods are the facial features used and performed by integrating multiple feature sets at different levels. However, this integration and the combinational methods do not guarantee better result. Hence to achieve better results, the feature fusion model with multiple weighted facial attribute set is s…

3D face reconstruction plays a very important role in many real-world multimedia applications, including digital entertainment, social media, affection analysis, and person identification. The de-facto pipeline for estimating the parametric face model from an image requires to firstly detect the facial regions with landmarks, and then crop each face to feed the deep learning-based regressor.
