We accomplish the analytical computation of the pure weak annihilation non-leptonic $B$-meson decay amplitudes at leading power in the heavy quark expansion. The novel observation regarding such fundamental hadronic quantities is that adding the missing hard-collinear contribution on top of the hard gluon exchange effect eliminates rapidity divergences entering the convolution integrals of factorization formulae. Subsequently we identify the perturbative enhancement mechanism due to the penguin contractions of the current-current operators from the weak effective Hamiltonian, which yields the significant impacts on the CP violating observables.
The exclusive Born cross sections of the production of $D^0$, $D^+$ and $D_s^+$ mesons in $e^+e^-$ annihilation at 13 energy points between 3.970 and 4.260 GeV are obtained by applying corrections for initial state radiation and vacuum polarization to the observed cross sections measured by CLEO-c experiment. Both the statistical and the systematic uncertainties for the obtained Born cross sections are properly estimated.
The heavy meson-antimeson pairs, where one is an excited $\bigl ({3 \over 2} \bigr) ^+ $ meson and the other is a ground state $\bigl ({1 \over 2} \bigr) ^-$ meson, namely the pairs ($D_1(2420) \bar D$ + c.c.), ($D_1(2420) \bar D^*$ + c.c.), ($D_2(2460) \bar D^*$ + c.c.) in the charm sector and ($B_1(5721) \bar B$ + c.c.), ($B_1(5721) \bar B^*$ + c.c.), ($B_2(5747) \bar B^*$ + c.c.) in the bottom sector, are allowed, by the quantum numbers, to be produced in the $S$ wave in $e^+e^-$ annihilation. We show, however, that such $S$-wave production is forbidden by the heavy quark spin symmetry. Thu…
We study, at leading order in the large number of colours expansion and within the Resonance Chiral Theory framework, the odd-intrinsic-parity $e^+ e^- \rightarrow π^+ π^- (π^0, η)$ cross-sections in the energy regime populated by hadron resonances, namely $3 \, m_π \lsim E \lsim 2 \, \mbox{GeV}$. In addition we implement our results in the Monte Carlo generator PHOKHARA 7.0 and we simulate hadron production through the radiative return method.
In the pole-dominance model for the two-body nonleptonic decays of charmed mesons $D \rightarrow PV$ and $D \rightarrow VV$, it is shown that the contributions of the intermediate pseudoscalar and the axial-vector meson poles cancel each other in the annihilation diagrams in the chiral limit. In the same limit, the annihilation diagrams for the $D \rightarrow PP$ decays vanish independently.
We discuss the hadroproduction of charmed mesons in the framework of the constituent cascade model taking into account the valence quark annihilation. It is shown that the small valence quark annihilation process dominates the leading particle production at large Feynman x and explains the recent experimental data on the asymmetry between D^0 and D^0 bar at 350 GeV/c.
In this work, we perform a combined analysis to the measured data of the cross section of open-strange processes $e^+e^- \to K^+K^-$, $e^+e^- \to K\bar{K}^{*}+c.c.$, $e^+e^- \to K^{*+}K^{*-}$, $e^+e^- \to K_1(1270)^+K^-$, $e^+e^- \to K_1(1400)^+K^-$, $e^+e^- \to K_2^{*}(1430)\bar{K}+c.c.$ and $e^+e^- \to K(1460)^+K^-$ with the support of study of hadron spectroscopy. We reveal the contribution of the possible light vector mesons around 2 GeV to reproduce the cross section data of the reported open-strange processes from $e^+e^-$ annihilation which may provide a new perspective to construct the…
Antiproton--proton annihilation into light neutral mesons in the few GeV energy domain is investigated in view of a global description of the existing data and predictions for future experiments at PANDA, FAIR. An effective meson model earlier developed, with mesonic and baryonic degrees of freedom in $s$, $t$, and $u$ channels, is applied here to $π^0π^0$ production. Form factors with logarithmic $s$ and $t(u)$ dependencies are applied. A fair agreement with the existing angular distributions is obtained. Applying SU(3) symmetry, it is straightforward to recover the angular distributions for …
Within the framework of nonrelativistic quark-antiquark Cornell potential model formalism, we study the annihilation of heavy quarkonia. We determine their annihilation widths resulting into digluon, dilepton, $3γ$, $3g$ and $γgg$ and compare our findings with the available theoretical results and experimental data. We also provide the charge radii and absolute square of radial Schrödinger wave function at zero quark-antiquark separation for heavy quarkonia and $B_c$ mesons.
A threshold singularity in a heavier meson channel, e.g. $D^* {\bar D}^*$, generally reflects in the amplitudes of $e^+e^-$ annihilation into lighter meson pairs, such as $D^* {\bar D}$, $D {\bar D}$, and $D_s {\bar D}_s$, due to the channel coupling. The behavior of the cross section of the $e^+e^-$ annihilation into each channel in this situation is considered using general properties of the amplitudes near the new threshold. It is argued that the effects of the channel coupling can be quite significant in the observable cross section, in particular near the $D^* {\bar D}^*$ threshold.
In this talk, we present the predictions for a number of radiative decays $B_{(s)}\to Vγ$, with the vector meson in the final state, which proceed through the weak-annihilation mechanism. Within the factorization approximation, we take into account the photon emission from the $B$-meson loop and from the vector-meson loop. The highest branching ratios for the weak-annihilation reactions reported here are ${\cal B}(\bar B^0_s\to J/ψγ)=1.5\cdot 10^{-7}$ and ${\cal B}(B^-\to \bar D_s^{*-}γ)=1.7\cdot 10^{-7}$, the estimated accuracy of these predictions being at the level of 20%.
We study inelastic meson-meson scattering that is governed by quark-antiquark annihilation and creation involving a quark and an antiquark annihilating into a gluon, and subsequently the gluon creating another quark-antiquark pair. The resultant hadronic reactions include for I=1: pion + pion to rho + rho, kaon + antikaon to kaon* + antikaon*, kaon + antikaon* to kaon* + antikaon*, kaon* + antikaon to kaon* + antikaon*, as well as pion + pion to kaon + antikaon, pion + rho to kaon + antikaon*, pion + rho to kaon* + antikaon, and kaon + antikaon to rho + rho. In each reaction, one or two Feynma…
We calculate cross sections of a pair $B_c$ meson production on the basis of two-photon mechanism from electron-positron annihilation. We investigate the production cross sections in nonrelativistic approximation and with the account of relativistic corrections. Relativistic production amplitudes of S-wave pair pseudoscalar, vector and pseudoscalar+vector $B_c$-mesons are constructed on the basis of relativistic quark model. Numerical values of the production cross sections are obtained at different center-of-mass energies. The comparison of one-photon and two-photon annihilation contributions…
Antiproton--proton annihilation into light mesons is revisited in the few GeV energy domain, in view of a global description of the existing data. An effective meson model is developed, with mesonic and baryonic degrees od freedom in $s$, $t$, and $u$ channels. Regge factors are added to reproduce the proper energy behavior and the forward and backward peaked behavior. A comparison with existing data and predictions for angular distributions and energy dependence are done for charged and neutral pion pair production.
In this paper the production of excited vector and pseudoscalar charmonium mesons in $\epem$ annihilation is analyzed in the framework of light cone. In particular the cross sections $\epem \to ψ(2S)η_c(1S), ψ(1S)η_c(2S),ψ(2S)η_c(2S)$ have been calculated. It is shown, that contrary to NRQCD the cross sections calculated in the framework of light cone agree with experimental data.
A vector-dominance two-photon exchange model is proposed to explain the recently observed production of $ρ^0ρ^0$ and $ρ^0ϕ$ pairs in $e^+e^-$ annihilation at 10.58 GeV with the BaBar detector. All the observed features of the data --angular and decay distributions, rates-- are in agreement with the model. Predictions are made for yet-unobserved final states.
Relativistic corrections to the pair $B_c$-meson production in $e^+e^-$-annihilation are calculated. We investigate a production of pair pseudoscalar, vector and pseudoscalar+vector $B_c$-mesons in the leading order perturbative quantum chromodynamics and relativistic quark model. Relativistic expressions of the pair production cross sections are obtained. Their numerical evaluation shows that relativistic effects in the production amplitudes and bound state wave functions three times reduce nonrelativistic results at the center-of-mass energy s=22 GeV.
An $ω$-meson in motion with respect to a nuclear medium can couple to a $σ$-meson through a particle-hole excitation. This coupling is large. We investigate its consequences for the width of $ω$-mesons in matter and for the s-wave annihilation of pions into lepton pairs which can take place in relativistic heavy ion collisions. We find that the two pion decay of $ω$-mesons, resulting from the $ω-σ$ transition and the subsequent $2π$ decay of the $σ$-meson, leads to a substantial broadening of $ω$-mesons in matter and possibly to an observable effect in experiments measuring the $e^+e^-$ decay …
We report on the handbag contribution to two-photon annihilation into pion and kaon pairs at large energy and momentum transfer. The underlying physics of the mechanism is outlined and characteristic features and predictions are presented.
We apply Heavy Quark Effective Theory to the production of $0^-$ and $1^-$ $Q\bar{q}$ states in $e^+ e^-$ annihilation. We show that HQET implies that the electric quadrupole amplitudes vanish and we propose tests for this theory. We also show how HQET can be applied to distinguish the $^3D_1$ and $^3S_1$ $Q\bar{Q}$ states.
A simple extension of the QCD inspired potential model which includes dynamical quarks first proposed by Eichten et al. is remarkably successful in accounting both for the observed narrow state heavy quarkonium spectroscopy and experimental data on threshold production of charmed and B mesons in e+e- annihilation. In addition to this model, a variant of it can also account for the data. The cross section data are mainly inclusive cross section measurements. The two models give distinguishably different predictions for the energy dependence of production cross sections for individual channels, …
We present a general framework for the model-independent decomposition of the fully differential cross section of the reactions e+e- -> gamma* -> (pi0 pi0 gamma) and e+e- -> gamma* -> (pi0 eta gamma), which can provide important information on the properties of scalar mesons: f0(600), f0(980) and a0(980). For the model-dependent ingredients in the differential cross section, an approach is developed, which relies on Resonance Chiral Theory with vector and scalar mesons. Numerical results are compared to data. The framework is convenient for development of a Monte Carlo generator and can also b…
We calculate the spin density matrix of the vector meson produced in e+e- annihilation at Z^0 pole. We show that the data imply a significant polarization for the antiquark which is created in the fragmentation process of the polarized initial quark and combines with the fragmenting quark to form the vector meson. The direction of polarization is opposite to that of the fragmenting quark and the magnitude is of the order of 0.5. A qualitative explanation of this result based on the LUND string fragmentation model is given.
We investigate the Glauber divergences in nonfactorizable annihilation amplitudes for two-body hadronic heavy meson decays in the $k_T$ factorization theorem at one-loop level. These divergences can be absorbed into the Glauber factors in the dominant kinematic regions of small parton momenta, which modify the interference between a nonfactorizable annihilation amplitude and other amplitudes by rotating it with a phase. We postulate that only the Glauber effect associated with a pion is significant, due to its special role as a $q\bar q$ bound state and as a pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson simult…
The pentaquark component is included in the proton wave functions to study phi meson production proton-antiproton annihilation reactions. With all possible configurations of the uuds subsystem proposed for describing the strangeness spin and magnetic moment of the proton, we estimate the branching ratios of the annihilation reactions at rest proton-antiproton to phi + X (X=pi, eta, rho, omega) from atomic proton-antiproton S- and P-wave states by using effective quark line diagrams incorporating the 3P0 model. The best agreement of theoretical prediction with the experimental data is found whe…
The subject of the charged-to-neutral yield ratio for B{\bar B} and D{\bar D}pairs near their respective thresholds in e^+e^- annihilation is revisited. As previously argued for the B mesons, this ratio should exhibit a substantial variation across the Upsilon(4S) resonance due to interference of the resonance scattering phase with the Coulomb interaction between the charged mesons. A simple alternative derivation of the expression describing this effect is presented here, and the analysis is extended to include the D meson production in the region of the psi(3770) resonance. The available dat…
A number of $B$ meson decays may proceed only through participation of the spectator quark, whether through amplitudes proportional to $f_B/m_B$ or via rescattering from other less-suppressed amplitudes. An expected hierarchy of amplitudes in the absence of rescattering will be violated by rescattering corrections. Such violations could point the way toward channels in which final-state interactions could be important. Cases in which final state phases can lead to large CP asymmetries are pointed out.
It is argued that in the antiproton-proton annihilation into two mesons $\bar pp\longrightarrow m_1 m_2$, the origin of different restrictive angular momentum selection rules commonly obtained for planar annihilation diagrams $A2$ and for non-planar rearrangement diagrams $R2$ lies in the omission of momentum transfer between an annihilated antiquark-quark pair and a remaining quark or antiquark. If it is included, there is no reason for dismissing one type of diagram in favor of another one. Some considerations in the large $N_c$ limit of QCD equally shed light on the planar and non-planar co…
The associated production of a $J/ψ$ and a $π$-meson in antiproton-nucleon annihilation is studied in the framework of QCD collinear factorization. In this approach, a hard subprocess responsible for the production of the heavy quark-antiquark pair factorizes from soft hadronic matrix elements, such as the antiproton (nucleon) distribution amplitude and the nucleon-to-pion (antiproton-to-pion) transition distribution amplitude. This reaction mechanism should dominate the forward and backward kinematical regions, where the cross sections are expected to be measurable in the set-up of the PANDA …
The exclusive production of pairs of vector mesons with J^{PC} = 1^{--} in e^+ e^- collisions can proceed through e^+ e^- annihilation into two virtual photons. At energies much greater than the meson masses, the cross section is dominated by the independent fragmentation of the virtual photons into the vector mesons. The fragmentation approximation is used to calculate the cross sections and angular distributions for pairs of vector mesons that can be produced at the B factories. The predicted cross sections for rho^0 + rho^0 and rho^0 + phi production agree with recent measurements by the Ba…
We model the $N\bar{N}$ system at rest as a baryon number zero lump in the Skyrme model including the $ω$ field. We integrate the classical equations of motion from the highly non-perturbative annihilation region into the non-interacting radiation zone. Subsequent coherent state quantization of the radiation field gives a good description of the pion spectrum from annihilation at rest.
The recent measurements of large transverse fractions in B \to ϕK^* decays represent a challenge for theory. It was shown that the QCD penguin annihilation could contribute to the transverse amplitudes such that the observation could be accounted for in the Standard Model. However, if one resorts to new physics for resolutions, then the relevant 4-quark operators should be tensor-like or scalar-like. We show that the same annihilation effects could remarkably enhance the longitudinal rates of factorization-suppressed B\to h_1(1380) K^*, b_1(1235) K^* modes to be (12.0^{+4.1}_{-3.0})\times 10^{…
The spectrum of $q^2\bar q^2, J^p=0^+,2^+$ mesons is discussed. We have shown that due to instanton - induced forces the physical states are strong mixtures of the $SU_f(3)$ group basis states. The cross-sections for annihilation of the $N\bar N$ system into $(q^2\bar q^2)(q\bar q)$ mesons are obtained. The $a_0(980)$ meson is considered as $q^2\bar q^2$ meson consisting of $9_f$ and $36_f$ plets. The branchings are also predicted for the cross-sections for production of the $a_0(980)$ and tensor $q^2\bar q^2$ mesons in $N\bar N$ annihilation.
We consider the production of $B^* \bar B^*$ meson pairs in $e^+e^-$ annihilation near the threshold. The rescattering due to pion exchange between the mesons results in a mixing between three partial wave amplitudes: two $P$-wave with the total spin of the meson pair S=0 and S=2 and an F-wave amplitude. The mixing due to pion exchange with a low momentum transfer is calculable up to c.m. energy $E \approx 15 ÷20$\,MeV above the threshold. We find that the $P-F$ mixing is numerically quite small in this energy range, while the mixing of the two P-wave amplitudes is rapidly changing with energy…
The annihilation of the $B_c$ meson to leptons and inclusive light hadrons is analyzed in the framework of nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization. We find that the decay mode, which escapes from the helicity suppression, contributes a sizable fraction width. According to the analysis, the branching ratio due to the contribution from the color-singlet component of the meson $B_c$ can be of order (10^{-2}). We also estimate the contributions from the color-octet components. With the velocity scaling rule of NRQCD, we find that the color-octet contributions are sizable too, especially, in cert…
The threshold behavior of $e^+ e^-$ annihilation is considered in the channels $B_{s0} \bar B_s^* + c.c.$, $B_{s1} \bar B_s + c.c.$, and $B_{s1} \bar B_s^* +c.c.$, where $B_{s0}$ and $B_{s1}$ are the excited bottom-strange $J^P=0^+$ and $J^P = 1^+$ mesons. It is argued that due to the heavy quark spin symmetry (HQSS) only one coherent combination of the first two channels is produced in the $S$ wave as well as the third channel. Thus, if there exist threshold molecular peaks in the considered channels, only two of such peaks can be formed in the annihilation. The properties of such threshold s…
$DAΦNE$ should be useful for testing the nature of the vector mesons directly produced in $e^-e^+$ annihilation, as well as the nature of the $C=+$ states produced in the radiative decays of these vector mesons. In the $DAΦNE$ energy range, these latter states may have spin up to two and any parity. Provided the background can be handled and the spin of the produced state is known, the study of the angular distributions in these decays can measure the parity of the produced meson as well as the ratios of the independent production helicity amplitudes. These ratios provide sensitive tests for q…
The \bar{nu}e^- --> pi^- pi^0 and nu e^+ --> pi^+ pi^0 reaction have a resonant structure whenever the energy of the s--channel equals the mass of a J^P=1^- vector meson. The resonant cross sections are of the order 10^{-38} cm^2 and correspond to cosmic ray antineutrino energies in the range 0.2 to 2 TeV. A similar structure occurs in the annihilation of cosmic ray antineutrinos with a relic (background) neutrino. For m_{nu} <= 10^{-3} eV the resonant energy is above GZK limit and their decay products include multiple gamma--rays. Possible detection schemes are discussed, especially those whi…
We investigate the possibility to constrain the pion distribution amplitude from the gamma* gamma* -> pi transition. For a surprisingly large range in the two photon virtualities we find that the transition form factor is essentially independent of the distribution amplitude. This in turn entails a parameter-free prediction of QCD. The gamma* gamma* -> eta, eta' form factors are also briefly discussed. We estimate that experimental studies might be feasible at the existing e+ e- experiments BaBar, Belle, and CLEO.
Using the PQCD method we calculate the W-exchange and the W-annihilation processes of B mesons, which in general involve a charm quark or anti-quark in the final state. The nonvanishing amplitudes of these processes are found to be suppressed by a factor of $m_c/m_b$ compared to the tree or the time-like penguin processes, but some of them are within the reach of observation at the future B-factories, and $\bar B_d^0 \to D^+_s K^-$ whose branching ratio is found to be $6.6 \times 10^{-6}$ can be found even before the B-factory era. Comparisons with the results based on the BSW model are also g…
Assuming that rho-mesons exist in a quark-gluon plasma close to the QCD phase transition, we calculate the dilepton production rate from quark-antiquark annihilation via a rho-meson state using Vector Meson Dominance. The result is compared to the rates from direct quark-antiquark annihilation and from pion annihilation. Furthermore we discuss the suppression of low mass dileptons if the quarks assume an effective mass in the quark-gluon plasma.
Apparent channel-dependent violations of the OZI rule in nucleon-antinucleon annihilation reactions are discussed in the presence of an intrinsic strangeness component in the nucleon. Admixture of strange-antistrange quark pairs in the nucleon wave function enables the direct coupling to the phi-meson in the annihilation channel without violating the OZI rule. Three forms are considered in this work for the strangeness content of the proton wave function, namely, the uud cluster with a strange-antistrange sea quark component, kaon-hyperon clusters based on a simple chiral quark model, and the …
Nonleptonic decays of charmed mesons into two pseudoscalar mesons or one pseudoscalar meson and one vector meson are studied on the basis of a generalized factorization method considering the resonance effects in the pole model for the annihilation contributions. Large strong phases between different topological diagrams are considered in this work, simply taking the phase in the coefficients $a_i$. We find that the annihilation-type contributions calculated in the pole model are large in both of the $PP$ and $PV$ modes, which make our numerical results agree with the experimental data better …
The processes of D^{(*)}-mesons and Λ_c-baryons production in e^+e^--annihilation at 10.58 GeV and 91.18 GeV energies are concerned. At the 10.58 GeV energy the production of charmed particles via the B-mesons decays is also concerned. Scaling violation of the fragmentation functions is calculated at the NLL-accuracy. Nonperturbative fragmentation functions are retrieved from the experimental data of B-factories and are approximated by simple analytic expressions. It is proved, that the difference between nonperturbative fragmentation functions of mesons and baryons can be easily explained by …
The s-channel annihilation of proton and antiproton into a neutral pion and a real or virtual photon followed by lepton pair emission is studied. Such mechanism is expected to play a role at moderate values of the total energy $\sqrt{s}$, when the pion is emitted around $90^{\circ}$ in the center of mass. A fair comparison with the existing data is obtained taking into account scattering and annihilation channels. The cross section is calculated and numerical results are given in the kinematical range accessible in the PANDA experiment at FAIR.
On the basis of the perturbative QCD and the relativistic quark model we investigate the relativistic and bound state effects in the production processes of a pair of $S$-wave doubly heavy mesons with opposite charge conjugation consisting of $b$ and $c$ quarks. All possible relativistic corrections in the production amplitude including the terms connected with the transformation law of the bound state wave function to the reference frame of the moving pseudoscalar ${\cal P}-$ and vector ${\cal V}-$ mesons are taken into account. We obtain a growth of the cross section for the reaction $e^++e^…
We study the production of charmed mesons (D, D_s) in antiproton-proton annihilation close to the reaction thresholds. The elementary charm production process is described by baryon exchange and in the constituent quark model, respectively. Effects of the interactions in the initial and final states are taken into account rigorously. The calculations are performed in close analogy to our earlier study on pbarp to KbarK by connecting the processes via SU(4) flavor symmetry. Our predictions for the DDbar production cross section are in the order of 10^{-2} -- 10^{-1} mu b. They turned out to be …
We study the charmed meson pair (${\bar D}^0 D^0$ and $D^- D^+$) production in ${\bar p}p$ annihilation within an effective Lagrangian model that has only the baryon-meson degrees of freedom and involves the physical hadron masses. The reaction amplitudes include terms corresponding to the t-channel $Λ_c^+$, $Σ_c^+$ and $Σ_c^{++}$ baryon exchanges and the s-channel excitation, propagation and decay of the $Ψ$(3770) resonance into the charmed mesons. The initial- and final-state distortion effects have been accounted for by using a simple eikonal approximation-based procedure in the same way as…
The charmed meson pair $(\frac{3}{2})^+$ and anti-$(\frac{1}{2})^-$, i.e. $D_1(2420)\bar D+c.c.$, $D_1(2420)\bar D^*+c.c.$, $D_2(2460)\bar D^*+c.c.$, can couple to states with vector quantum number $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ and exotic quantum number $J^{PC}=1^{-+}$ in a relative $S$ wave. Near threshold, the charmed meson pair may form hadronic molecules due to the strong $S$-wave coupling, and the mysterious vector state $Y(4260)$ could be such a state of the $D_1(2420)\bar D+c.c.$ molecule. This implies the possible existence of its exotic partner made of the same charmed mesons but with $J^{PC}=1^{-+…
Within the QCD factorization approach we compute the amplitudes for annihilation channels of B mesons decays into final states containing two pseudoscalar particles. These decays may be plagued by effects like non-perturbative physics or breaking of the factorization hypothesis and imply, at some extent, the introduction of an infrared cutoff in the calculation of amplitudes. We compute the decays with the help of infrared finite gluon propagators and coupling constants that were obtained in different solutions of the QCD Schwinger-Dyson equations. These solutions yield a natural cutoff for th…
We compare QCD theoretical predictions for heavy flavoured mesons fragmentation spectra in e+ e- annihilation with data from CLEO, BELLE and LEP. We include several effects in our calculation: next-to-leading order initial conditions, evolution and coefficient functions. Soft-gluon effects are resummed at next-to-leading-log accuracy. A matching condition for the crossing of the bottom threshold in evolution is also implemented at next-to-leading order accuracy. Important initial-state electromagnetic radiation effects in the CLEO and BELLE data are accounted for. We find that, with reasonably…
We study the hadronic D meson decays into a pseudoscalar meson $P$ and an even-parity meson $M$, where $M$ represents a scalar meson $S$, an axial-vector meson $A$, or a tensor meson $T$. These decays are first analyzed in the flavor-diagram approach. Fits to the $SP$ modes with $S$ being a non-strange scalar meson show that neither the simple $q\bar q$ picture nor the $q^2\bar q^2$ scheme is favored by data. Current measurements on the $AP$ decays are insufficient for a meaningful analysis. Some $TP$ data are inconsistent with the others. In certain cases, the $W$-annihilation diagrams indica…
A large apparent violation of the OZI rule has recently been found in many channels in pbar-p annihilation LEAR. An interpretation of these data in terms of the "shake-out" and "rearrangement" of an intrinsic sbar-s component of the nucleon wave function is proposed. This gives a channel-dependent, non-universal modification of the naive OZI prediction. Within this approach, we interpret the strong excess of $ϕ$ production in S-wave pbar-p annihilations in terms of the polarization of the nucleon's sbar-s component indicated by deep inelastic lepton-nucleon scattering experiments. This interpr…
We study the exclusive production of scalar $S = 0^{++}$ and tensor $T = 2^{++}$ mesons through single-photon annihilation $e^+ e^- \to γ^* \to γS(T)$. Using QCD compositeness of the involved hadrons considered as quark-antiquark systems, the prediction for the scaling of the differential cross sections of these processes is $dσ/dt \sim 1/s^3$ at large $s$. We further derive the scaling of the $γ^\ast \to γS$ and $γ^\ast \to γT$ transition form factors: $F_{γ^\astγS}(s) \sim 1/s$ and $F_{γ^\astγT}(s) \sim 1/s^2$. Results for the respective cross sections of the scalar and tensor meson producti…
The production of the vector meson pairs $B_s^* \bar B_s^*$ in the $e^+e^-$ annihilation is generally contributed by two $P$ wave amplitudes with different total spin $S$ of the mesons, $S=0$ and $S=2$, and also by an $F$ wave amplitude. Belle has recently reported a study of the available data at the energy of the $Υ(5S)$ peak in terms of the two $P$ wave contributions only. It is argued here that although at this energy the $F$ wave should be quite suppressed, especially for the strange-bottom vector mesons, the particular studied angular distribution is very sensitive to a presence of even …
We calculate the cross section for $e^+ e^-$ annihilation into $D^{*0} \bar D^0 +γ$ at center-of-mass energies near the $D^{*0} \bar D^{*0}$ threshold under the assumption that $X(3872)$ is a weakly bound charm meson molecule. The Dalitz plot has a $\bar D^{*0}$ resonance band in the squared invariant mass $t$ of $\bar D^0 γ$. In the limit as the decay width of the $D^{*0}$ goes to 0, the Dalitz plot also has a narrow band in the squared invariant mass $u$ of $D^{*0} \bar D^0$ from a charm-meson triangle singularity. At the physical value of the $D^{*0}$ width, the narrow band reduces to a sho…
