We calculate the cross section for $e^+ e^-$ annihilation into $D^{*0} \bar D^0 +γ$ at center-of-mass energies near the $D^{*0} \bar D^{*0}$ threshold under the assumption that $X(3872)$ is a weakly bound charm meson molecule. The Dalitz plot has a $\bar D^{*0}$ resonance band in the squared invariant mass $t$ of $\bar D^0 γ$. In the limit as the decay width of the $D^{*0}$ goes to 0, the Dalitz plot also has a narrow band in the squared invariant mass $u$ of $D^{*0} \bar D^0$ from a charm-meson triangle singularity. At the physical value of the $D^{*0}$ width, the narrow band reduces to a shoulder. Thus the triangle singularity cannot be observed directly as a peak in a differential cross section as a function of $u$. It may however be observed indirectly as a local minimum in the $t$ distribution for events with $u$ below the triangle singularity. The minimum is produced by the Schmid cancellation between triangle loop diagrams and a tree diagram. The observation of this minimum would support the identification of $X(3872)$ as a weakly bound charm meson molecule.
The cross section value of doubly charmonium production in e+e- annihilations have been estimated at interaction energy 10.6 GeV. The quarkonium wave function shape, as well as the nonzero value of charm quark have been taken into account.
In this paper initial state radiation corrections to double production of charmonium mesons on one-photon electron-positron annihilation at center of mass energy $\sqrt{s}=10.6\GeV$ are studied. It is shown, that these corrections have noticeable effect and must be taken into consideration.
We discuss the hadroproduction of charmed mesons in the framework of the constituent cascade model taking into account the valence quark annihilation. It is shown that the small valence quark annihilation process dominates the leading particle production at large Feynman x and explains the recent experimental data on the asymmetry between D^0 and D^0 bar at 350 GeV/c.
In the pole-dominance model for the two-body nonleptonic decays of charmed mesons $D \rightarrow PV$ and $D \rightarrow VV$, it is shown that the contributions of the intermediate pseudoscalar and the axial-vector meson poles cancel each other in the annihilation diagrams in the chiral limit. In the same limit, the annihilation diagrams for the $D \rightarrow PP$ decays vanish independently.
In this paper the production of excited vector and pseudoscalar charmonium mesons in $\epem$ annihilation is analyzed in the framework of light cone. In particular the cross sections $\epem \to ψ(2S)η_c(1S), ψ(1S)η_c(2S),ψ(2S)η_c(2S)$ have been calculated. It is shown, that contrary to NRQCD the cross sections calculated in the framework of light cone agree with experimental data.
It is suggested that the recently observed enhancement of the relative yield in $e^+e^-$ annihilation of states with hidden charm and hidden strangeness above 4.43\,GeV is associated with the $S$ wave production of the charmed strange meson pairs $D_{s0}(2317) \bar D_s^* + {\rm c.c.}$ and $D_{s1}^*(2460) \bar D_s+ {\rm c.c.}$. This mechanism implies a pattern of breaking of the Heavy Quark Spin Symmetry (HQSS) that can be tested in the final channels such as $η_c(1S) ϕ$, $h_c(1P) η$, $h_c(1P) η' $ produced in the same energy range.
We discuss the $p\bar{p}$ annihilation into a pair of charmed $D$ mesons not far from the threshold of the reaction. An interesting interference pattern in the differential cross section is predicted to arise from the existence of both $t$-channel charmed-baryon exchange and $s$-channel $Ψ^{''}$ charmonium resonance amplitudes. We argue that the experimental study of this process would provide new and valuable information about the unknown $p\bar{p}Ψ^{''}$ and $Λ_c N D$ couplings. These are important to know to solve the long-standing puzzle of the heavy flavour contents of baryons and to test…
The processes of D^{(*)}-mesons and Λ_c-baryons production in e^+e^--annihilation at 10.58 GeV and 91.18 GeV energies are concerned. At the 10.58 GeV energy the production of charmed particles via the B-mesons decays is also concerned. Scaling violation of the fragmentation functions is calculated at the NLL-accuracy. Nonperturbative fragmentation functions are retrieved from the experimental data of B-factories and are approximated by simple analytic expressions. It is proved, that the difference between nonperturbative fragmentation functions of mesons and baryons can be easily explained by …
If the $X(3872)$ is a weakly bound charm-meson molecule, it can be produced in $e^+ e^-$ annihilation by the creation of $D^{*0} \bar D^{*0}$ from a virtual photon followed by the rescattering of the charm-meson pair into $X$ and a photon. A triangle singularity produces a narrow peak in the cross section for $e^+ e^- \to X γ$ about 2.2 MeV above the $D^{*0} \bar{D}^{*0}$ threshold. We predict the normalized cross section in the region near the peak. The peak from the triangle singularity may be observable by the BESIII detector.
We study the production of charmed mesons (D, D_s) in antiproton-proton annihilation close to the reaction thresholds. The elementary charm production process is described by baryon exchange and in the constituent quark model, respectively. Effects of the interactions in the initial and final states are taken into account rigorously. The calculations are performed in close analogy to our earlier study on pbarp to KbarK by connecting the processes via SU(4) flavor symmetry. Our predictions for the DDbar production cross section are in the order of 10^{-2} -- 10^{-1} mu b. They turned out to be …
The associated production of a $J/ψ$ and a $π$-meson in antiproton-nucleon annihilation is studied in the framework of QCD collinear factorization. In this approach, a hard subprocess responsible for the production of the heavy quark-antiquark pair factorizes from soft hadronic matrix elements, such as the antiproton (nucleon) distribution amplitude and the nucleon-to-pion (antiproton-to-pion) transition distribution amplitude. This reaction mechanism should dominate the forward and backward kinematical regions, where the cross sections are expected to be measurable in the set-up of the PANDA …
Inspired by the observation of charmoniumlike $Z(4200)$, we explore the discovery potential of the neutral $Z^{0}(4200)$ production by antiproton-proton annihilation with an effective Lagrangian approach. By investigating the $\bar{p}p\rightarrow J/ψπ^{0}$ process including the $Z^{0}(4200)$ signal and background contributions, it is found that the center of mass energy $E_{c.m.}\simeq 4.0-4.5$ GeV is the best energy window for searching the neutral $Z^{0}(4200)$, where the signal can be clearly distinguished from background. The relevant calculations is not only helpful to search for the neut…
Measurements by the Belle Collaboration of the exclusive production of two charmonia in e^+ e^- annihilation differ substantially from theoretical predictions. Till now, no conclusive explanation for this remarkable discrepancy has been provided. Even the origin of the discrepancy is not identified, yet. We suggest that the measurement of four-charm events in Belle data must provide a strong constraint in identifying the origin of this large discrepancy. Our prediction of the cross section for e^+e^- -> c c-bar c c-bar, in lowest order in strong coupling constant, at sqrt{s}=10.6 GeV is about …
Inspired by the observation of the fully-charm tetraquark $X(6900)$ state at LHCb, the production of $X(6900)$ in $\bar{p}p\rightarrow J/ψJ/ψ$ reaction is studied within an effective Lagrangian approach and Breit-Wigner formula. The numerical results show that the cross section of $X(6900)$ at the c.m. energy of 6.9 GeV is much larger than that from the background contribution. Moreover, we estimate dozens of signal events can be detected by D0 experiment, which indicates that searching for the $X(6900)$ via antiproton-proton scattering may be a very important and promising way. Therefore, rel…
We discuss the decay of Bc mesons into two light mesons (pi, K^(*), eta', rho, omega, phi). All these decay channels come from a single type of diagram, namely tree annihilation. This allows us to derive extremely simple SU(3) relations among these processes. The size of annihilation contributions is an important issue in B physics, and we provide two different estimates in the case of non-leptonic charmless Bc decays, either a comparison with annihilation decays of heavy-light mesons or a perturbative model inspired by QCD factorisation. We finally discuss a possible search for these channels…
The vector glueball $O$, made of 3 valence gluons, is expected to be ``clean": it mixes less with quarkonia, but mediates OZI violations. The recent $0^{++} $ glueball candidate and the persistence of the $J/ψ, ψ' \to ρπ$ puzzle suggest $m_O\simeq m_{J/ψ}$, with mixing angle $\sim 2^\circ - 4^\circ$, hence $Γ(O\to ρπ$, $K^+K^-$, $e^+e^-) \sim$ MeV, few keV, few eV. Lower and upper bounds on $Γ_O$ can be argued from $e^+e^- \to ρπ$ energy scan data and the condition $B(O\to ρπ) > B(J/ψ\to ρπ)$. $O$ dominance may explain the ``large" OZI violation in $^1S_0(\bar pp)\to ϕγ$ vs. $ωγ$.
It is shown that the D--meson, whose light quark is the initial-pion valence quark and whose charmed quark is produced in annihilation of valence quarks and has got a large enough momentum, is really a leading meson in reactions like $π^- p -> DX$. If such annihilation of valence quarks from initial hadrons is impossible there must be no distinct leading effect.
We study the production of charmed mesons (D) and baryons (Lambda_c) in antiproton-proton (app) annihilation close to their respective production thresholds. The elementary charm production process is described by either baryon/meson exchange or by quark/gluon dynamics. Effects of the interactions in the initial and final states are taken into account rigorously. The calculations are performed in close analogy to our earlier study on app -> antiLambda-Lambda and app -> antiK-K by connecting the processes via SU(4) flavor symmetry. Our predictions for the antiLambda_c-Lambda_c production cross …
We analyze the charm quark electric dipole moment (EDM) in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model (MSSM), including important two-loop gluino contributions. Considering the experimental constraint on the neutron EDM, the theoretical prediction for the charm quark EDM can reach about $10^{-20}e\cdot cm$. If taking into account the mixing between the scharm and stop quarks in the effective supersymmetry scenario, the charm quark EDM can be enhanced to $\sim 10^{-19}e\cdot cm$. Direct production of the CP-odd $^1P_1$ state $h_c$ in $e^+e^-$ annihilation via the CP-violating pr…
In calculations of the hyperfine splitting in charmonium, the contributions of the disconnected diagrams are considered small and are typically ignored. We aim to estimate nonperturbatively the size of the resulting correction, which may eventually be needed in high precision calculations of the charmonium spectrum. We study this problem in the quenched and unquenched QCD cases. On dynamical ensembles the disconnected charmonium propagators contain light modes which complicate the extraction of the signal at large distances. In the fully quenched case, where there are no such light modes, the …
The experimental data of BELLE Collaboration on the exclusive charmed meson pair production in the process of monophotonic $e^+e^-$-annihilation ($e^+e^-\to γ^* \to D\bar D$) has been studied. It has been shown that these data is described satisfactorily in the frame work of constituent quark model. Our studies have demonstrated that the central production process $e^+e^-\to e^+e^-γγ\to e^+e^-D\bar D +X$ and the process of monophotonic $e^+e^-$-annihilation yield comparable numbers of the charmed meson pairs.
Motivated by the recent observation of double charm quark pair production by the Belle Collaboration, we calculate the complete ${\cal O}(α_{s}^{2})$ inclusive production cross sections for $η_{c}$, $J/ψ$, and $χ_{cJ}$(J=0, 1, 2) plus $c\bar{c}$ in $e^+ e^-$ annihilation through a virtual photon. We consider both color-singlet and color-octet contributions, and give the analytical expressions for these cross sections. The complete color-singlet calculations are compared with the approximate fragmentation calculations as functions of the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}$. We find that most of th…
The double-charm tetraquark meson $T_{cc}^+(3875)$ can be produced in high-energy proton-proton collisions by the creation of the charm mesons $D^{*+} D^0$ at short distances followed by their binding into $T_{cc}^+$. The $T_{cc}^+$ can also be produced by the creation of $D^{*+} D^{*+}$ at short distances followed by their rescattering into $T_{cc}^+ π^+$. A charm-meson triangle singularity produces a narrow peak in the $T_{cc}^+ π^+$ invariant mass distribution 6.1 MeV above the threshold with a width of about 1 MeV. Well beyond the peak, the differential cross section decreases with the inv…
The exclusive Born cross sections of the production of $D^0$, $D^+$ and $D_s^+$ mesons in $e^+e^-$ annihilation at 13 energy points between 3.970 and 4.260 GeV are obtained by applying corrections for initial state radiation and vacuum polarization to the observed cross sections measured by CLEO-c experiment. Both the statistical and the systematic uncertainties for the obtained Born cross sections are properly estimated.
We prove a U-spin amplitude triangle relation among doubly Cabibbo-suppressed (DCS) charmed meson decays, $D^0\to K^+π^-, D^0 \to K^0π^0$ and $D^+_s \to K^0 K^+$, congruent to an isospin relation among corresponding Cabibbo-favored (CF) decays. U-spin breaking in relative phases between CF and DCS amplitudes affects time-dependent studies of $D^0-\od$ mixing. Comparison of final state phase patterns in DCS and CF amplitude triangles, which can shed some light on these phases, is carried out in a phenomenological framework incorporating resonance contributions.
Measurements by the Belle Collaboration of the exclusive J/psi + eta_c and inclusive J/psi +cc-bar+X productions in e^+ e^- annihilation differ substantially from theoretical predictions based on the nonrelativistic QCD factorization approach. In order to test if such a discrepancy is originated from the large perturbative corrections to the hard-scattering amplitude, we study inclusive production of four charm hadrons in e^+e^- annihilation at B factories.
Using the nonrelativistic QCD(NRQCD) factorization formalism, we calculate the color-singlet cross sections for exclusive production processes ${e^++e^-\to J/ψ+η_c}$~ and ~$e^++e^-\to J/ψ+ χ_{cJ}$~$(J=0,1,2)$ at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}$=10.6 GeV. The cross sections are estimated to be 5.5fb, 6.7fb, 1.1fb, and 1.6fb for $η_c, χ_{c0}, χ_{c1}$ and $χ_{c2}$, respectively. The calculated $J/ψ+η_c$ production rate is smaller than the recent Belle data by about an order of magnitude, which might indicate the failure of perturbative QCD calculation to explain the double-charmonium producti…
We study charmless pure annihilation type radiative B decays within the QCD factorization approach. After adding the vertex corrections to the naive factorization approach, we find that the branching ratios of $\bar{B}^0_d\toϕγ$, $\bar{B}^0_s\toρ^0γ$ and $\bar{B}^0_s\toωγ$ within the standard model are at the order of $\mathcal{O}(10^{-12})$, $\mathcal{O}(10^{-10})$ and $\mathcal{O}(10^{-11})$, respectively. The smallness of these decays in the standard model makes them sensitive probes of flavor physics beyond the standard model. To explore their physics potential, we have estimated the contr…
The $1^1D_2 (c\bar c)$ state is the ground state of spin-singlet D-wave charmonia. Although it has not been found yet, the experimental data accumulate rapidly. This charmonium attracts more and more attention, especially when the BaBar Collaboration finds that the X(3872) particle has negative parity. In this paper we calculate the double-gamma and double-gluon annihilation processes of $^1D_2$ charmonia and bottomonia by using the instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter method. We find the relativistic corrections make the decay widths of $1^1D_2 (c\bar c)$ 2$\sim$5 times smaller than the non-relativis…
Recently, the BESIII Collaboration reported a new measurement of the $η_c ρ$ decay mode of $Z_c^{(\prime)}$, which motivated us to study the inner structure of $Z_c^{(\prime)}$ via investigating the hidden charm decays of these two $Z_c$ states. We consider the {triangle loop mechanism} contribution in the hidden charm decays of $Z_c^{(\prime)}$. Our estimations indicate that the triangle loop mechanism plays an important role in the decays of the $Z_c^{(\prime)}$, where our results are in agreement with the experimental observations in a reasonable parameter range. Furthermore, we point out t…
In this paper, in order to probe the spectator-scattering and weak annihilation contributions in charmless $B_s\to VV$ (where $V$ stands for a light vector meson) decays, we perform the $χ^2$-analyses for the end-point parameters within the QCD factorization framework, under the constraints from the measured $\bar B_{s}\to$$ρ^0ϕ$, $ϕK^{*0}$, $ϕϕ$ and $K^{*0}\bar K^{*0}$ decays. The fitted results indicate that the end-point parameters in the factorizable and nonfactorizable annihilation topologies are non-universal, which is also favored by the charmless $B\to PP$ and $PV$ (where $P$ stands fo…
Based on the NRQCD factorization formalism, we calculate the inclusive charm production rate in Upsilon(nS) decay at leading order in the strong coupling constant alpha_s and the relative velocity v of the b quark in the quarkonium rest frame. The branching fractions for Upsilon(nS) to charm for n=1, 2, and 3 are all around 7-9%. About 60% of the branching fraction into charm is from annihilation of the color-singlet bb-bar pair into gamma^* -> cc-bar. Most of the remaining branching fraction is from annihilation of the color-singlet bb-bar pair decaying into cc-bar gg. We also compute the mom…
An excess in gamma-rays from the galactic center observed by the Fermi Large Area Telescope has been proposed as a possible signal of dark matter annihilation. Recently, the Fermi collaboration showed that systematic errors broaden the range of spectral shapes for this excess. We demonstrate fits to this range for (1) flavor-violating annihilations to top-charm pairs and (2) annihilations to on-shell bosonic mediators which decay to Standard Model quarks in a boosted frame. Annihilation of 40 - 100 GeV DM to pairs of spin-1 mediators provide a good fit to the Fermi-LAT spectrum with a normaliz…
The recently measured semileptonic D_s decay rate can be used to constrain weak annihilation (WA) effects in semileptonic D and B decays. We revisit the theoretical predictions for inclusive semileptonic D_{(s)} decays using a variety of quark mass schemes. The most reliable results are obtained if the fits to B decay distributions are used to eliminate the charm quark mass dependence, without using any specific charm mass scheme. Our fit to the available data shows that WA is smaller than commonly assumed. There is no indication that the WA octet contribution (which is better constrained than…
A simple extension of the QCD inspired potential model which includes dynamical quarks first proposed by Eichten et al. is remarkably successful in accounting both for the observed narrow state heavy quarkonium spectroscopy and experimental data on threshold production of charmed and B mesons in e+e- annihilation. In addition to this model, a variant of it can also account for the data. The cross section data are mainly inclusive cross section measurements. The two models give distinguishably different predictions for the energy dependence of production cross sections for individual channels, …
We search for signals of Weak Annihilation in inclusive semileptonic D decays. We consider both the widths and the lepton energy moments, which are quite sensitive probes. Our analysis of Cleo data shows no clear evidence of Weak Annihilation, and allows us to put bounds on their relevance in charmless B semileptonic decays.
A detailed error analysis is carried out for the determination of the MSbar charm quark mass $\bar m_c(\bar m_c)$ from moments at order alpha_s^2 of the charm cross section in e^+e^- annihilation. To estimate the theoretical uncertainties the renormalization scale is implemented in various ways including energy-dependent functions, which lead to ``contour-improved'' predictions. We obtain $\bar m_c(\bar m_c)=1.29\pm 0.07$ GeV which contains a substantial theoretical uncertainty.
We analyze possible singularities in the $J/ψΛ$ invariant mass distribution of the $Ξ^-_{b}~\to~K^- J/ψΛ$ process via triangle loop diagrams. Triangle singularities in the physical region are found in 18 different triangle loop diagrams. Among those with $Ξ^*$-charmonium-$Λ$ intermediate states, the one from the $χ_{c1} Ξ(2120) Λ$ loop, which is located around 4628 MeV, is found the most likely to cause observable effects. One needs $S$- and $P$-waves in $χ_{c1} Λ$ and $J/ψΛ$ systems, respectively, when the quantum numbers of these systems are $1/2^+$ or $3/2^+$. When the quantum numbers of th…
It is very important to know the strength of annihilation contribution in B charmless nonleptonic decays. $\bar{B}_{s}\to π^{+}π^{-}$ process could serve a good probe of the strength. We have studied the process in QCD factorization framework. Using a gluon mass scale indicted by the studies of infrared behavior of gluon propagators to avoid enhancements in the soft end point regions, we find that the CP averaged branching ratio is about $1.24\times 10^{-7}$, the direct CP asymmetry $C_{ππ}$ is about -0.05, while the mixing-induced CP asymmetry quite large with the value $S_{ππ}$=0.18. The pro…
If the $X(3872)$ is a weakly bound charm-meson molecule, it can be produced in $e^+ e^-$ annihilation by the creation of $D^{*0} \bar D^{*0}$ from a virtual photon followed by the rescattering of the P-wave charm-meson pair into the $X$ and a photon. A triangle singularity produces a narrow peak in the cross section for $e^+ e^- \to X γ$ 2.2 MeV above the $D^{*0} \bar{D}^{*0}$ threshold. We predict the normalized cross section in the region of the peak. We show that the absorptive contribution to the cross section for $e^+ e^- \to D^{*0} \bar D^{*0} \to X γ$, which was calculated previously by…
We argue that the recent CLEO-c data on $e^+e^-$ annihilation into pairs of charmed mesons at c.m. energy around 4.0 GeV are not well described by a single resonance $ψ(4040)$, but can be better understood if there is an additional narrow resonance with mass within few MeV from the $D^* {\bar D}^*$ threshold.
The charmless $B_{c}$ $\to$ $PP$, $PV$~(where $P$ and $V$ denote the light pseudoscalar and vector mesons, respectively) decays can occur only via the weak annihilation diagrams within the Standard Model and provide, therefore, an ideal place to probe the strength of annihilation contribution in hadronic $B_{u,d,s}$ decays. In this paper, we study these kinds of decays in the framework of QCD factorization, by adopting two different schemes: scheme I is similar to the method usually adopted in the QCD factorization approach, while scheme II is based on the infrared behavior of gluon propagator…
We calculate the cross section for the exclusive production of J^{PC}=0^{++} glueballs G_0 in association with the J/psi in e^+e^- annihilation using the pQCD factorization formalism. The required long-distance matrix element for the glueball is bounded by CUSB data from a search for resonances in radiative Upsilon decay. The cross section for e^+e^- -> J/psi+ G_0 at sqrt{s}=10.6 GeV is similar to exclusive charmonium-pair production e^+e^- -> J/psi+h for h=eta_c and chi_{c0}, and is larger by a factor 2 than that for h=eta_{c}(2S). As the subprocesses gamma^* -> (c c-bar) (c c-bar) and gamma^…
In this work, we present the mass spectrum of higher charomona around and above 4.6 GeV by adopting the unquenched potential model. We perform a combined fit to the updated experimental data of $e^+e^- \to ψ(2S)π^+π^-$ and $e^+e^-\to Λ_c\barΛ_c$. To understand the "platform" structure observed in the range of $4.57 \sim 4.60$ GeV existing in the $Λ_c\barΛ_c$ invariant mass spectrum of $e^+e^-\to Λ_c\barΛ_c$ of BESIII, we introduce two resonances in this combined fit to the $e^+e^- \to ψ(2S)π^+π^-$ and $e^+e^-\to Λ_c\barΛ_c$, which have resonance parameters, $m_{Y_1}=4585\pm2$ MeV, $Γ_{Y_1}=29.…
The study of charmless hadronic two-body decays of B mesons is one of the most fascinating topics in B physics. A construction of the unitarity triangle based on such decays is presented, which is independent of B-B(bar) and K-K(bar) mixing. It provides stringent tests of the Standard Model with small theoretical uncertainties.
The mass of the charm quark is analyzed in the context of QCD finite energy sum rules using recent BESII e+e- annihilation data and a large momentum expansion of the QCD correlator which incorporates terms to order (alpha_s)^2 (m_c^2/q^2)^6. Using various versions of duality, we obtain the consistent result m_c(m_c)=(1.37 +- 0.09)GeV. Our result is quite independent of the ones based on the inverse moment analysis.
The charmed meson pair $(\frac{3}{2})^+$ and anti-$(\frac{1}{2})^-$, i.e. $D_1(2420)\bar D+c.c.$, $D_1(2420)\bar D^*+c.c.$, $D_2(2460)\bar D^*+c.c.$, can couple to states with vector quantum number $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ and exotic quantum number $J^{PC}=1^{-+}$ in a relative $S$ wave. Near threshold, the charmed meson pair may form hadronic molecules due to the strong $S$-wave coupling, and the mysterious vector state $Y(4260)$ could be such a state of the $D_1(2420)\bar D+c.c.$ molecule. This implies the possible existence of its exotic partner made of the same charmed mesons but with $J^{PC}=1^{-+…
We outline the proofs of the factorization theorems for exclusive two-body charmonium production in B-meson decay and e^+e^- annihilation to all orders in perturbation theory in quantum chromodynamics. We find that factorized expressions hold up to corrections of order m_c/m_b in B-meson decay and corrections of order m_c^2/s in e^+e^- annihilation, where m_c is the charm-quark mass, m_b is the bottom-quark mass, and root-s is the e^+e^- center-of-momentum energy.
We review the current state of experimental knowledge on double ccbar production in e+e- annihilation. The large cross-sections (O(20 fb)) for e+e- -> gamma* -> psi(') ccbar_{res} processes have been confirmed by detailed tests and reproduced by a second group: they should now be considered well-established. The latest experimental results concern the case where the second ccbar system is above open-charm threshold: hidden-charm states continue to play a prominent role in the mass spectrum. Some ``loose ends'' in the field are also briefly discussed.
Nonleptonic decays of charmed mesons into two pseudoscalar mesons or one pseudoscalar meson and one vector meson are studied on the basis of a generalized factorization method considering the resonance effects in the pole model for the annihilation contributions. Large strong phases between different topological diagrams are considered in this work, simply taking the phase in the coefficients $a_i$. We find that the annihilation-type contributions calculated in the pole model are large in both of the $PP$ and $PV$ modes, which make our numerical results agree with the experimental data better …
Based on the assumption of two-quark structure for the light scalar mesons, within the framework of perturbative QCD approach, we investigate the $B_{q}\to D_{(s)}^{(*)} S(q=u,d,s)$ decays induced by $b\to u $ transition, where $S$ denotes a light scalar meson. Under two different scenarios, we calculate the branching ratios of 96 decay modes totally, which are in the range of $10^{-5}$ to $10^{-8}$. The comparison between our predictions and the experimental data will allow us to probe the inner structure of the scalar mesons. In the standard model, since all decays can only occur through tre…
In this work, we propose that there exists a moving triangle singularity in the $ψ(2S) \to π^+ π^- K^+ K^-$ process, whose position can vary from 1.158 to 1.181 GeV in the invariant mass spectrum of $K^+K^-$. After a precise analysis on this process, it turns out that after doing some cuts on $m_{π^+π^-}$, experiments do have the opportunity to observe this triangle singularity. In addition, when changing the cuts on $m_{π^+π^-}$, the movement of the predicted triangle singularity can also be observed. Thus, we suggest future experiments, especially Super Tau-Charm Facility (STCF), to do an an…
If the $X(3872)$ is a weakly bound charm-meson molecule, it can be produced by the creation of $D^{*0} \bar{D}^0$ or $D^{0} \bar{D}^{*0}$ at short distances followed by the formation of the bound state from the charm-meson pairs. It can also be produced by the creation of $D^{*} \bar{D}^*$ at short distances followed by the rescattering of the charm mesons into $X π$. We use results of a previous isospin analysis of $B$ meson decays into $K D^{(*)} \bar D^{(*)}$ to estimate the short-distance amplitudes for creating $D^* \bar D^*$. We use an effective field theory for charm mesons and pions ca…
Based on an approximate six-quark operator effective Hamiltonian from perturbative QCD, we present a systematical study of charmless $B \to PP, PV, VV$ decays ($P$ and $V$ denoting pseudoscalar and vector mesons, respectively). The calculation of the relevant hard-scattering kernels is completed, the resulting transition form factors are consistent with the results of QCD sum rule calculation. Important classes of power corrections include "chirally-enhanced" terms, vertex corrections and weak annihilation contributions with non-trivial strong phase. With these considerations, predictions are …
The total cross section of the process $e^+e^- \to Λ\barΛ$ is calculated within the energy range close to the mass of $ψ(3770)$ charmonium state. Two different contributions were considered: the $D$-meson loop and the three gluon charmonium annihilation one. Both of them contribute noticeably and in sum fairly reproduce the data. Large relative phase for these contributions are generated with respect to the pure electromagnetic mechanism. As a by product the fit for the electromagnetic form factor of $Λ$-hyperon is obtained for the large momentum transferred region.

If one of the recently discovered charmed-strange mesons (D_sJ(2317)) is the 0+ state of cs-bar, the other (D_sJ(2460)) is most likely the 1+ state with j=1/2. They could be produced in e+e- annihilation by fragmentation from cc-bar jets or as decay products of B mesons. If one analyzes the cc-bar jet events and the B decay events separately, one will have a direct test as to whether D_sJ(2460) is the j=1/2 state or not, how much D_sJ(2460) is mixed with the j=3/2 state, and whether the four-quark interpretation is viable.
The inclusive decay rate into pions of the charmed $D_s$ meson is surprisingly larger than estimates expected from the $W$ annihilation, adopting commonly used values of current-algebra up and down quark masses. We then go beyond this tree diagram and consider possible QCD effects that might cause such a large rate. There are two; the first one is related to the spectator decay $ c{\bar s} \rightarrow s{\bar s} + u {\bar d}$ followed by $ s {\bar s} \rightarrow d{\bar d}~,~ u{\bar u}$ via two-gluon exchange box diagram. The second one is a gluon emission in weak annihilation for which the usua…
