Various profiles of matter distribution in galactic halos (such as Navarro-Frenk-White, Burkert, Hernquist, Moore, Taylor-Silk and others) are considered here as the source term for the Einstein equations. We solve these equations and find exact solutions which represent the metric of a central black hole immersed in a galactic halo. Even though in the general case the solution is numerical, very accurate general analytical metric, which includes all the particular models, are found in the astrophysically relevant regime, when the mass of the galaxy is much smaller than the characteristic scale in the halo.
We have studied the polarized image of an equatorial emitting ring around a rotating black hole surrounded by a cold dark matter (CDM) halo. Results show that the CDM halo density has the similar effects of the halo's characteristic radius on the polarized image for the black hole. The effects of the CDM halo on the polarized image depend on the magnetic field configuration, the fluid velocity and the observed inclination. With the increase of the CDM halo parameters, the observed polarization intensity decreases when the magnetic field lies in equatorial plane, but in the case where the magne…
In Einstein-Æther theory, the Lorentz symmetry is locally broken in the high-energy regime due to the presence of theÆther field. This shall leave significant imprint on astronomical observation. In this paper, we investigate the optical appearance of two types of the static and spherically symmetric black holes in Einstein-Æther theory. Via Euler-Lagrange equation, we obtain the equations of motion of the photon and calculate the total deflection angle of the photon trajectory around the black hole. By classifying the light rays with the total number of orbits, we study the effects of couplin…

We study the properties of the null geodesics of four-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet black holes surrounded by quintessence matter. Due to the quintessence correction, we discuss the radial and non-radial geodesics. For the case of non-radial geodesics we obtain the effective potential, the photon sphere and the impact parameter associated to the null geodesics in details. We analyze the different possible orbits of massless particles (i.e. photons) such as unstable circular orbits and unbounded orbits and investigate the role of the Gauss-Bonnet coupling $α$ and the quintessence parameter …
In this paper we construct a black hole solution surrounded by superfluid dark matter (BH-SFDM) and baryonic matter, and study their effects on the shadow images of the Sgr A$^{*}$ black hole. To achieve this goal, we have considered two density profiles for the baryonic matter described by the spherical exponential profile and the power law profile including a special case describing a totally dominated dark matter galaxy (TDDMG). Using the present values for the parameters of the superfluid dark matter and baryonic density profiles for the Sgr A$^{*}$ black hole, we find that the effects of …

We consider the Jeans instability and the gravitational collapse of the rotating Bose-Einstein Condensate dark matter halos, described by the zero temperature non-relativistic Gross-Pitaevskii equation, with repulsive inter-particle interactions. In the Madelung representation of the wave function, the dynamical evolution of the galactic halos is described by the continuity and the hydrodynamic Euler equations, with the condensed dark matter satisfying a polytropic equation of state with index $n=1$. By considering small perturbations of the quantum hydrodynamical equations we obtain the dispe…
If dark matter is composed of massive bosons, a Bose-Einstein Condensation process must have occurred during the cosmological evolution. Therefore galactic dark matter may be in a form of a condensate, characterized by a strong self-interaction. We consider the effects of rotation on the Bose-Einstein Condensate dark matter halos, and we investigate how rotation might influence their astrophysical properties. In order to describe the condensate we use the Gross-Pitaevskii equation, and the Thomas-Fermi approximation, which predicts a polytropic equation of state with polytropic index $n=1$. By…
We construct a novel class of spherically symmetric and asymptotically flat black holes and naked singularities surrounded by anisotropic dark matter fluid with the equation of state (EoS) of the form $P_t=ωρ$. We assume that dark matter is made of weakly interacting particles orbiting around the supermassive black hole in the galactic center and the dark matter halo is formed by means of Einstein clusters having only tangential pressure. In the large distance from the black hole, we obtain the constant flat curve with the upper bound for the dark matter state parameter $ω\lesssim 10^{-7}$. To…
Shadow, ISCO, Quasinormal modes, Hawking spectrum, Weak Gravitational lensing, and parameter estimation of a Schwarzschild Black Hole Surrounded by a Dehnen Type Dark Matter Halo
We obtain the solution of a static spherically symmetric black hole surrounded by a cloud of strings in Rastall gravity and study the influence of the parameter $a$ associated with strings on the event horizon and the Hawking temperature. Through analyzing the black hole metric, we find that the static spherically symmetric black hole solution surrounded by a cloud of strings in Rastall gravity can be transformed into the static spherically symmetric black hole solution surrounded by quintessence in Einstein gravity when the parameter $β$ of Rastall gravity is positive, which provides a possib…
We consider a model where massive static spherically symmetric black hole, in the presence of power-Yang-Mills source, is surrounded by a dark fluid with non-linear equation of state. In this set up we construct a new class of magnetized Lovelock black hole solutions of the gravitational field equations. In particular, we work out the metric functions in both D-dimensional massive Einstein and massive Gauss-Bonnet gravities. We study thermodynamics of these black holes also and show that the mass and associated thermodynamic quantities like Hawking temperature and heat capacity depend on param…
In this paper we study the thermodynamics of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB)-AdS black holes minimally coupled to a cloud of strings in an extended phase space where the cosmological constant is treated as pressure of the black holes and its conjugate variable is the thermodynamical volume of the black holes. To investigate the analogy between EGB black holes surrounded by a cloud of strings and liquid-gas system we derive the analytical solutions of the critical points and probe the effects of a cloud of strings on $P-V$ criticality. There is obtained resemblance between "small black hole/large b…
The relativistic treatment of galaxies modelled as a rotating disk surrounded by a magnetised material halo is considered. The galactic halo is modelled by a magnetised mass-energy distribution described by the energy-momentum tensor of a general fluid in canonical form. All the dynamics quantities characterising the physical of the halo are expressed in exact form in terms of an arbitrary solution of the Laplace's equation. By way of illustration, a "generalisation" of the Kuzmin solution of the Laplace's equation is used. The motion of a charged particle on the halo region is described. All …
We demonstrate that Kerr/CFT duality can be extended to rotating charged black hole solution surrounded by quintessence in Rastall gravity. Since Rastall gravity can be considered as $F(R,T) = R + βT $ theory with the addition of a matter term, so the gravitational Lagrangian is resemblant to Einstein general relativity. In fact, the resulting central term is coincident to the central term in the general relativity since $ T $ is only a trace of the matter term. We then exhibit that the entropy from CFT of this black hole is equivalent with the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy with no correction rel…

An exact solution of the Einstein-Maxwell field equations for a conformastationary metric with magnetized disk-haloes sources is worked out in full. The characterization of the nature of the energy momentum tensor of the source is discussed. All the expressions are presented in terms of a solution of the Laplace's equation. A "generalization" of the Kuzmin solution of the Laplace's equations is used as a particular example. The solution obtained is asymptotically flat in general and turns out to be free of singularities. All the relevant quantities show a reasonable physical behaviour.
We show that the galactic dark matter halo, considered composed of an axionlike particles Bose-Einstein condensate \cite{pir12} trapped by a self-graviting potential \cite{boh07}, may be stable in the Thomas-Fermi approximation since appropriate choices for the dark matter particle mass and scattering length are made. The demonstration is performed by means of the calculation of the potential, kinetic and self-interaction energy terms of a galactic halo described by a Boehmer-Harko density profile. We discuss the validity of the Thomas-Fermi approximation for the halo system, and show that the…
We consider a gravitational plane wave passing through a galactic dark matter halo composed of weakly self-interacting, self-gravitating, Bose-Einstein condensate of ultralight particles. Treating the gravitational wave as a time dependent perturbation, we study energy transfer between the gravitational wave and the Bose-Einstein condensate by applying linear response theory to a non-uniform condensate described by the Bogoliubov-de Gennes theory, and compute the fractional loss in gravitational wave energy. We apply our results to investigate the extent to which this loss effects the estimati…
The possibility that dark matter, whose existence is inferred from the study of the galactic rotation curves, and from the mass deficit in galaxy clusters, can be in a form of a Bose-Einstein Condensate, has been extensively investigated lately. In the present work, we consider a detailed analysis of the astrophysical properties of the Bose-Einstein Condensate dark matter halos that could provide clear observational signatures that help discriminate between different dark matter models. In the Bose-Einstein condensation model dark matter can be described as a non-relativistic, gravitationally …
Once the critical temperature of a cosmological boson gas is less than the critical temperature, a Bose-Einstein Condensation process can always take place during the cosmic history of the universe. Zero temperature condensed dark matter can be described as a non-relativistic, Newtonian gravitational condensate, whose density and pressure are related by a barotropic equation of state, with barotropic index equal to one. In the present paper we analyze the effects of the finite dark matter temperature on the properties of the Bose-Einstein Condensed dark matter halos. We formulate the basic equ…
The study of the rotation curves of spiral galaxies reveals a nearly constant cored density distribution of Cold Dark Matter. N-body simulations however lead to a cuspy distribution on the galactic scale, with a central peak. A Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) of light particles naturally solves this problem by predicting a repulsive force, obstructing the formation of the peak. After succinctly presenting the BEC model, we test it against rotation curve data for a set of 3 High Surface Brightness (HSB), 3 Low Surface Brightness (LSB) and 3 dwarf galaxies. The BEC model gives a similar fit to th…
We consider a simple spherical model consisting of a Schwarzschild black hole of mass $M$ and a dark matter of mass $ΔM$ around it. The general formula for the radius of black-hole shadow has been derived in this case. It is shown that the change of the shadow is not negligible, once the effective radius of the dark matter halo is of order $\sim \sqrt{3 M ΔM}$. For this to happen, for example, for the galactic black hole, the dark matter must be concentrated near the black hole. For small deviations from the Schwarzschild limit, the dominant contribution into the size of a shadow is due to the…
We present a comparative confrontation of both the Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC) and the Navarro-Frenk-White (NFW) dark halo models with galactic rotation curves. We employ 6 High Surface Brightness (HSB), 6 Low Surface Brightness (LSB), and 7 dwarf galaxies with rotation curves falling into two classes. In the first class rotational velocities increase with radius over the observed range. The BEC and NFW models give comparable fits for HSB and LSB galaxies of this type, while for dwarf galaxies the fit is significantly better with the BEC model. In the second class the rotational velocity of …
We consider the effects of an uncorrelated random potential on the properties of Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC) dark matter halos, which acts as a source of disorder, and which is added as a new term in the Gross-Pitaevskii equation, describing the properties of the halo. By using the hydrodynamic representation we derive the basic equation describing the density distribution of the galactic dark matter halo, by also taking into account the effects of the baryonic matter, and of the rotation. The density, mass and tangential velocity profiles are obtained exactly in spherical symmetry by consi…
