Conformal Triangles and Zig-Zag Diagrams

A convenient integral representation for zig-zag four-point and two-point planar Feynman diagrams relevant to the bi-scalar D-dimensional fishnet field theory is obtained. This representation gives a possibility to evaluate exactly diagrams of the zig-zag series in special cases. In particular, we give a fairly simple proof of the Broadhurst-Kreimer conjecture about the values of zig-zag multi-loop two-point diagrams which make a significant contribution to the renormalization group beta-function in 4-dimensional phi^4 theory.

Null Zig-Zag Wilson Loops in N=4 SYM

In planar ${\cal N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory we have studied supersymmetric Wilson loops composed of a large number of light-like segments, i.e., null zig-zags. These contours oscillate around smooth underlying spacelike paths. At one-loop in perturbation theory we have compared the finite part of the expectation value of null zig-zags to the finite part of the expectation value of non-scalar-coupled Wilson loops whose contours are the underlying smooth spacelike paths. Zig Zag symmetry in AdS/CFT duality

The validity of the Bianchi identity, which is intimately connected with the zig zag symmetry, is established, for piecewise continuous contours, in the context of Polakov's gauge field-string connection in the large 'tHooft coupling limit, according to which the chromoelectric `string' propagates in five dimensions with its ends attached on a Wilson loop in four dimensions. Gravitationally dresed RG flows and zig-zag invariant strings

We propose a world-sheet realization of the zigzag-invariant bosonic and fermionic strings as a perturbed Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten model at large negative level $k$ on a group manifold $G$ coupled to 2D gravity. In the large $k$ limit the zigzag symmetry can be obtained as a result of a self-consistent solution of the gravitationally dressed RG equation. The only solution found for simple group is $G=SL(2)$. A Zig-Zag Index

We study the large N superconformal index of quiver gauge theories describing the worldvolume of D3 branes probing toric Calabi Yau singularities. The index has been previously noticed to factorize over the set of the extremal BPS mesonic operators of the gauge theory. We review this factorization and reformulate it in terms of zig-zag paths in the dimer model associated to the quiver. Proof of the zig-zag conjecture

A long-standing conjecture in quantum field theory due to Broadhurst and Kreimer states that the amplitudes of the zig-zag graphs are a certain explicit rational multiple of the odd values of the Riemann zeta function. In this paper we prove this conjecture by constructing a certain family of single-valued multiple polylogarithms. The zig-zag graphs therefore provide the only infinite family of primitive graphs in $ϕ^4_4$ theory (in fact, in any renormalisable quantum field theory in four dimensions) whose amplitudes are now known.

String Representation of Wilson Loops

We explore the consequences of imposing Polyakov's zig/zag-invariance in the search for a confining string. We first find that the requirement of zig/zag-invariance seems to be incompatible with spacetime supersymmetry. We then try to find zig/zag-invariant string backgrounds on which to implement the minimal-area prescription for the calculation of Wilson loops considering different possibilities.

On the zig-zag pilot-wave approach for fermions

We consider a pilot-wave approach for the Dirac theory that was recently proposed by Colin and Wiseman. In this approach, the particles perform a zig-zag motion, due to stochastic jumps of their velocity. We respectively discuss the one-particle theory, the many-particle theory and possible extensions to quantum field theory. We also discuss the non-relativistic limit of the one-particle theory. For a single particle, the motion is always luminal, a feature that persists in the non-relativistic limit. For more than one particle the motion is in general subluminal.

A strongly coupled zig-zag transition

The zig-zag symmetry transition is a phase transition in 1D quantum wires, in which a Wigner lattice of electrons transitions to two staggered lattices. Previous studies model this transition as a Luttinger liquid coupled to a Majorana fermion. The model exhibits interesting RG flows, involving quenching of velocities in subsectors of the theory. SLE, CFT and zig-zag probabilities

The aim of these notes is threefold. First, we discuss geometrical aspects of conformal covariance in stochastic Schramm-Loewner evolutions (SLEs). This leads us to introduce new ``dipolar'' SLEs, besides the known chordal, radial or annular SLEs. Mean-field theory for Heisenberg zigzag ladder: Ground state energy and spontaneous symmetry breaking

The spin-1/2 zig-zag Heisenberg ladder (J_1 - J_2 model) is considered. A new representation for the model is found and a saddle point approximation over the spin-liquid order parameter < \vec σ_{n-1}(\vec σ_{n}\times \vec σ_{n+1}) > is performed. Corresponding effective action is derived and analytically analyzed. We observe the presence of phase transitions at values J_2/J_1=0.231 and J_2/J_1=1/2.
