In this article, we study the formation of the bound states in the continuum (BICs) in a two-channel Fano-Anderson model. We employ the Green's function formalism, together with the equation of motion method, to analyze the relevant observables, such as the transmission coefficient and the density of states. Most importantly, our results show that the system hosts true BICs for the case of a symmetric configuration with the degenerate impurity levels, and a complete transmission channel is then suppressed. Finally, we argue that the proposed mechanism could be relevant for the realization of BICs in the electronic and photonic systems.
The Fano-Anderson chain consists of a linear lattice with a discrete side-unit, and exhibits Fano-resonant scattering due to coupling between the discrete states of the side-unit with the tight-binding continuum. We study Fano-resonance-assisted transport for the case of a topologically non-trivial side unit. We find that the topology of the side unit influences the transmission characteristics which thus can be an effective detection tool of the topological phases of the side unit. Furthermore, we explore the role of dual links between the linear tight-binding chain and the side unit. The sec…
We investigate the transport properties through a nanostructure composed of parallel double quantum dots coupled to two normal contacts. Additionally, each quantum dot is connected to a topological superconducting nanowire, hosting Majorana zero modes at its ends. A magnetic flux threading across the area enclosed by the interferometer is considered. First, we investigate the physical quantities of the system employing Green's function formalism. We find that the emergence of bound states appears in symmetric configurations of topological superconducting nanowires, i.e., depending on their len…

Double-level quantum systems are good candidates for revealing coherent quantum transport properties. Here, we consider quantum interference effects due to the formation of a two-level system (TLS) coupled to the edge channel of a zigzag Phosphorene nanoribbon (ZPNR). Using the tight-binding approach, we first demonstrate the formation of a TLS in bulk Phosphorene sheet due to the existence of two nearby vacancy impurities. Then, we show that such a TLS can couple to the quasi-one-dimensional continuum of the edge states in a ZPNR which results in the the appearance of two-dip Fano-type line s…
