In this article, we study the pointwise asymptotic behavior of iterated convolutions on the one dimensional lattice Z. We generalize the so-called local limit theorem in probability theory to complex valued sequences. A sharp rate of convergence towards an explicitly computable attractor is proved together with a generalized Gaussian bound for the asymptotic expansion up to any order of the iterated convolution.
Martingale representation theorem for set-valued martingales was proposed by M. Kisielewicz [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 2014]. We shall prove that the result holds only for very special case: the set-valued martingale degenerates to the point-valued one. A revised representation theorem for a special kind of non-degenerate set-valued martingales is presented.
In this paper we study the asymptotic normality of the normalized partial sum of a Hilbert-space valued strictly stationary random field satisfying the interlaced $ρ'$-mixing condition.
Motivated by a random matrix theory model from wireless communications, we define random operator-valued matrices as the elements of $L^{\infty-}(Ω,{\mathcal F},{\mathbb P}) \otimes M_d({\mathcal A})$ where $(Ω,{\mathcal F},{\mathbb P})$ is a classical probability space and $({\mathcal A},φ)$ is a non-commutative probability space. A central limit theorem for the mean $M_d(\mathbb{C})$-valued moments of these random operator-valued matrices is derived. Also a numerical algorithm to compute the mean $M_d({\mathbb C})$-valued Cauchy transform of operator-valued semicircular mixtures is analyzed.
We study the asymptotic behavior of the weighted least squares estimators of the unknown parameters of bifurcating integer-valued autoregressive processes. Under suitable assumptions on the immigration, we establish the almost sure convergence of our estimators, together with the quadratic strong law and central limit theorems. All our investigation relies on asymptotic results for vector-valued martingales.
We prove a fixed point theorem for closed-graphed, decomposable-valued correspondences whose domain and range is a decomposable set of functions from an atomless measure space to a topological space. One consequence is an improvement of the fixed point theorem in Cellina, Colombo, and Fonda (1986).
We prove weak laws of large numbers and central limit theorems of Lindeberg type for empirical centres of mass (empirical Fréchet means) of independent non-identically distributed random variables taking values in Riemannian manifolds. In order to prove these theorems we describe and prove a simple kind of Lindeberg-Feller central approximation theorem for vector-valued random variables, which may be of independent interest and is therefore the subject of a self-contained section. This vector-valued result allows us to clarify the number of conditions required for the central limit theorem for…
We establish deviation inequalities for the maxima of partial sums of a martingale differences sequence, and of a strictly stationary orthomartingale random field. These inequalities can be used to establish complete convergence of normalized maxima of partial sums.
Ciesielski's isomorphism between the space of alpha-Hölder continuous functions and the space of bounded sequences is used to give an alternative proof of the large deviation principle for Wiener processes with values in Hilbert space.
In this paper the question of the extent to which truncated heavy tailed random vectors, taking values in a Banach space, retain the characteristic features of heavy tailed random vectors, is answered from the point of view of the central limit theorem.
In this paper, we derive the moderate deviation principle for stationary sequences of bounded random variables with values in a Hilbert space. The conditions obtained are expressed in terms of martingale-type conditions. The main tools are martingale approximations and a new Hoeffding inequality for non adpated sequences of Hilbert-valued random variables. Applications to Cramer-Von Mises statistics, functions of linear processes and stable Markov chains are given.
We develop the asymptotic expansion theory for vector-valued sequences (F N) N $\ge$1 of random variables in terms of the convergence of the Stein-Malliavin matrix associated to the sequence F N. Our approach combines the classical Fourier approach and the recent theory on Stein method and Malliavin calculus. We find the second order term of the asymptotic expansion of the density of F N and we illustrate our results by several examples. 2010 AMS Classification Numbers: 62M09, 60F05, 62H12
Consider a stationary, linear Hilbert space valued process. We establish Berry-Essen type results with optimal convergence rates under sharp dependence conditions on the underlying coefficient sequence of the linear operators. The case of non-linear Bernoulli-shift sequences is also considered. If the sequence is $m$-dependent, the optimal rate $(n/m)^{1/2}$ is reached. If the sequence is weakly geometrically dependent, the rate $(n/\log n)^{1/2}$ is obtained.
We provide Berry-Esseen bounds for sums of operator-valued Boolean and monotone independent variables, in terms of the first moments of the summands. Our bounds are on the level of Cauchy transforms as well as the Lévy distance. As applications, we obtain quantitative bounds for the corresponding CLTs, provide a quantitative "fourth moment theorem" for monotone independent random variables including the operator-valued case, and generalize the results by Hao and Popa on matrices with Boolean entries. Our approach relies on a Lindeberg method that we develop for sums of Boolean/monotone indepen…
We consider a particle system in continuous time, discrete population, with spatial motion and nonlocal branching. The offspring's weights and their number may depend on the mother's weight. Our setting captures, for instance, the processes indexed by a Galton-Watson tree. Using a size-biased auxiliary process for the empirical measure, we determine this asymptotic behaviour. We also obtain a large population approximation as weak solution of a growth-fragmentation equation. Several examples illustrate our results.
In this paper, we introduce the concept of isotropic Hilbert-valued spherical random field, thus extending the notion of isotropic spherical random field to an infinite-dimensional setting. We then establish a spectral representation theorem and a functional Schoenberg's theorem. Following some key results established for the real-valued case, we prove consistency and quantitative central limit theorem for the sample power spectrum operators in the high-frequency regime.
We consider Gaussian fields of real symmetric, complex Hermitian or quaternionic Hermitian matrices over an electrical network, and describe how the isomorphisms between these fields and random walks give rise to topological expansions encoded by ribbon graphs. We further consider matrix-valued Gaussian fields twisted by an orthogonal, unitary or symplectic connection. In this case the isomorphisms involve traces of holonomies of the connection along random walk loops parametrized by boundary cycles of ribbon graphs.
Let $(X_{k})_{k \in \mathbb Z }$ be a linear process with values in a separable Hilbert space $\mathbb{H}$ given by $X_{k} =\sum_{j=0}^{\infty} (j+1)^{-N}\varepsilon_{k-j}$ for each $k \in \mathbb Z$, where $N:\mathbb{H} \to \mathbb{H}$ is a bounded, linear normal operator and $(\varepsilon_{k})_{ k \in \mathbb Z }$ is a sequence of independent, identically distributed $\mathbb{H}$-valued random variables with $E\varepsilon_{0}=0$ and $E\| \varepsilon_{0} \|^2<\infty$. We investigate the central and the functional central limit theorem for $(X_{k})_{k \in \mathbb Z }$ when the series of operat…
The purpose of this paper is twofold. In one direction, we extend the spectral method for random piecewise expanding and hyperbolic dynamics developed by the first author \textit{et al}. to establish quenched versions of the large deviation principle, central limit theorem and the local central limit theorem for \emph{vector-valued} observables. We stress that the previous works considered exclusively the case of scalar-valued observables. In another direction, we show that this method can be used to establish a variety of new limit laws (either for scalar or vector-valued observables) that ha…
We provide bounds of Berry-Esseen type for fundamental limit theorems in operator-valued free probability theory such as the operator-valued free Central Limit Theorem and the asymptotic behaviour of distributions of operator-valued matrices. Our estimates are on the level of operator-valued Cauchy transforms and the Lévy distance. We address the single-variable as well as the multivariate setting for which we consider linear matrix pencils and noncommutative polynomials as test functions. The estimates are in terms of operator-valued moments and yield the first quantitative bounds on the Lévy…
