The hierarchy of motions that we are participating is well known, from the Earth's motion around the Sun and Sun's motion in the Milky Way, up to the Local Group's motion within the Virgo Supercluster of galaxies. The dipole anisotropy of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) enables to define Sun's motion with respect to the CMB "absolute" frame. We now present evidence for CMB Galactic dipole signal due to the Sun's motion in the Galaxy, by means of Planck 2018 data and Gaia Early Data Release 3. The signal is weak and frequency depended, the strongest is at 30 GHz, up to 7.6σconfidence. The amplitude of the signal interpreted as Doppler caused, corresponds to velocity $v \approx 225.5 \pm 16.2 \, km\, sec^{-1}$, in agreement with Solar system's velocity with respect to the Galactic center. While the revealing of precise coordinates of the apex will need further refined analysis at various bands, the detected weak signal can indicate the appearance of a new cosmic scaling in CMB, thus opening a link to a bunch of physical effects.

We analyze the Southern Sky emission in linear polarization at 2.3 GHz as observed by the S-band Polarization All Sky Survey S-PASS. Our purpose is to study the properties of the diffuse Galactic polarized synchrotron as a contaminant to CMB B-mode observations. We study the angular distribution of the S-PASS signal at intermediate and high Galactic latitudes by means of angular power spectra. Power spectra, show a decay of the spectral amplitude as a function of multipole for \ell<200, typical of the diffuse emission. Spectra can be approximated by a power law C_{\ell}\propto\ell^{alpha}, wit…
Recent Planck observations have revealed some of the important statistical properties of synchrotron and dust polarisation, namely, the $B$ to $E$ mode power and temperature-$E$ (TE) mode cross-correlation. In this paper, we extend our analysis in Kandel et al. (2017) that studied $B$ to $E$ mode power ratio for polarised dust emission to include TE cross-correlation and develop an analogous formalism for synchrotron signal, all using a realistic model of magnetohydrodynamical (MHD) turbulence. Our results suggest that the Planck results for both synchrotron and dust polarisation can be unders…
The origin of the $μ$G magnetic fields observed in galaxies is unknown. One promising scenario is that magnetic fields generated during inflation, larger than 0.1 nG on Mpc scales, were adiabatically compressed to $μ$G strengths in galaxies during structure formation. Thus, detecting a scale-invariant primordial magnetic field (PMF) above 0.1 nG on Mpc scales just after recombination would indicate an inflationary origin of galactic magnetic fields. This would also provide compelling evidence that inflation occurred since only an inflationary mechanism could generate such a strong, scale-invar…
The cosmic microwave background (CMB) is one of the finest probes of cosmology. Its all-sky temperature and linear polarization (LP) fluctuations have been measured precisely at a level of deltaT/TCMB ~10^{-6}. In comparison, circular polarization (CP) of the CMB, however, has not been precisely explored. Current upper limit on the CP of the CMB is at a level of deltaV/TCMB ~10^{-4} and is limited on large scales. Some of the cosmologically important sources which can induce a CP in the CMB include early universe symmetry breaking, primordial magnetic field, galaxy clusters and Pop III stars (…

We present a model for simulating Carbon Monoxide (CO) rotational line emission in molecular clouds, taking account of their 3D spatial distribution in galaxies with different geometrical properties. The model implemented is based on recent results in the literature and has been designed for performing Monte-Carlo simulations of this emission. We compare the simulations produced with this model and calibrate them, both on the map level and on the power spectrum level, using the second release of data from the Planck satellite for the Galactic plane, where the signal-to-noise ratio is highest. …
The primary source of systematic uncertainty in the quest for the B-mode polarization of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) introduced by primordial gravitational waves is polarized thermal emission from Galactic dust. Therefore, accurate characterization and separation of the polarized thermal dust emission is an essential step in distinguishing such a faint CMB B-mode signal. We provide a modelling framework to simulate polarized thermal dust emission based on the model described in Ghosh et al. (2017), making use of both the Planck dust and Effelsberg-Bonn HI surveys over the northern Ga…
The characterization of the dust polarization foreground to the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) is a necessary step towards the detection of the B-mode signal associated with primordial gravitational waves. We present a method to simulate maps of polarized dust emission on the sphere, similarly to what is done for the CMB anisotropies. This method builds on the understanding of Galactic polarization stemming from the analysis of Planck data. It relates the dust polarization sky to the structure of the Galactic magnetic field and its coupling with interstellar matter and turbulence. The Galac…
The rotational kinematic Sunyaev-Zeldovich (rkSZ) signal, imprinted on the cosmic microwave background (CMB) by the gaseous halos (spinning "atmospheres") of foreground galaxies, would be a novel probe of galaxy formation. Although the signal is too weak to detect in individual galaxies, we analyze the feasibility of its statistical detection via stacking CMB data on many galaxies for which the spin orientation can be estimated spectroscopically. We use an "optimistic" model, in which fully ionized atmospheres contain the cosmic baryon fraction and spin at the halo's circular velocity $v_{\rm …
Characterizing the sub-mm Galactic emission has become increasingly critical especially in identifying and removing its polarized contribution from the one emitted by the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). In this work, we present a parametric foreground removal performed onto sub-patches identified in the celestial sphere by means of spectral clustering. Our approach takes into account efficiently both the geometrical affinity and the similarity induced by the measurements and the accompanying errors. The optimal partition is then used to parametrically separate the Galactic emission encoding…
Polarized Galactic synchrotron emission is an undesirable foreground for cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiments observing at frequencies $< 150$ GHz. We perform a combined analysis of observational data at 1.4, 2.3, 23, 30 and 33 GHz to quantify the spatial variation of the polarized synchrotron spectral index, $β^{pol}$, on $\sim3.5^\circ$ scales. We compare results from different data combinations to address limitations and inconsistencies present in these public data, and form a composite map of $β^{pol}$. Data quality masking leaves 44% sky coverage (73% for $|b|> 45^\circ$). Genera…
Rotation of galactic objects has been seen in the cosmic microwave background (CMB) that could be ascribed to molecular hydrogen clouds with, or without, dust contamination and contamination from other sources. We model the clouds using the canonical ensemble for pure molecular hydrogen, a mixture of hydrogen helium and/or dust, in order to constrain the physical parameters of these clouds. Since the clouds are cold, we justify the use of the canonical ensemble by explicitly calculating the interaction between the hydrogen molecules and the CMB photons and determining the time required for the…
As galactic halos are not directly visible, there are many ambiguities regarding their composition and rotational velocity. Though most of the dark matter is non-baryonic, {\it some fraction is}, and it can be used to trace the halo rotation. Asymmetries in the CMB towards M31 had been seen in the Planck data and ascribed to the rotational Doppler shift of the M31 halo. Subsequently, the same methods were used in the direction of five other galaxies belonging to the Local Group, namely M33, M81, M82, NGC 5128, and NGC 4594. It had been proved that there could be stable clouds of gas and dust i…
