A non-supersymmetric renormalizable $SO(10)$ model is investigated for its viability in explaining the observed fermion masses and mixing parameters along with the baryon asymmetry produced via thermal leptogenesis. The Yukawa sector of the model consists of complex $10_H$ and $\overline{126}_H$ scalars with a Peccei-Quinn like symmetry and it leads to strong correlations among the Yukawa couplings of all the standard model fermions including the couplings and masses of the right-handed (RH) neutrinos. The latter implies the necessity to include the second lightest RH neutrino and flavor effects for the precision computation of leptogenesis. We use the most general density matrix equations to calculate the temperature evolution of flavoured leptonic asymmetry. A simplified analytical solution of these equations, applicable to the RH neutrino spectrum predicted in the model, is also obtained which allows one to fit the observed baryon to photon ratio along with the other fermion mass observables in a numerically efficient way. The analytical and numerical solutions are found to be in agreement within a factor of ${\cal O}(1)$. We find that the successful leptogenesis in this model does not prefer any particular value for leptonic Dirac and Majorana CP phases and the entire range of values of these observables is found to be consistent. The model specifically predicts (a) the lightest neutrino mass $m_{ν_1}$ between 2-8 meV, (b) the effective mass of neutrinoless double beta decay $m_{ββ}$ between 4-10 meV, and (c) a particular correlation between the Dirac and one of the Majorana CP phases.
Models with composite singlet neutrinos can give small Majorana or Dirac masses to the active neutrinos. The mechanism is based on the fact that conserved chiral symmetries give massless neutrinos at the renormalizable level. Thus, they acquire very small masses due to non-renormalizable terms. We investigate such models in two aspects. First, we find UV completions for them and then we investigate the possibility of giving leptogenesis. We find that these models offer new possibilities for leptogenesis. Models with Majorana masses can exhibit standard leptogenesis. Models with Dirac masses ca…
We investigate baryogenesis via leptogenesis and generation of neutrino masses and mixings through the Type I plus Type III seesaw plus an one-loop mechanism in the context of Renormalizable Adjoint SU(5) theory. One light neutrino remains massless, because the contributions of three heavy Majorana fermions ρ_0, ρ_3 and ρ_8 to the neutrino mass matrix are not linearly independent. However none of these heavy fermions is decoupled from the generation of neutrino masses. This opens a new range in parameter space for successful leptogenesis, in particular, allows for inverted hierarchy of the neu…
Dirac neutrinos with lepton-number-violating interactions can give rise to a new leptogenesis mechanism. In its simplest renormalizable realization, based on a gauged B-L symmetry spontaneously broken by four units, the decay of a new scalar creates an asymmetry in the right-handed neutrinos. A neutrinophilic two-Higgs-doublet model converts this asymmetry to the baryons, provides a natural explanation of the small neutrino masses, and can lead to an effective number of relativistic degrees of freedom of N(eff) = 3.29 due to the entropy-suppressed contribution of the right-handed neutrinos.
We investigate the possibility to find the simplest renormalizable grand unified theory based on the SU(5) gauge symmetry. We find that it is possible to generate all fermion masses with only two Higgs bosons, 5_H and 45_H. In this context the neutrino masses are generated through the type III and type I seesaw mechanisms. The predictions coming from the unification of gauge couplings and the stability of the proton are discussed in detail. In this theory the leptogenesis mechanism can be realized through the out of equilibrium decays of the fermions in the adjoint representation.
We study the thermal leptogenesis in a hybrid model, which combines the so called split fermion model and the bulk neutrino model defined in five dimensional spacetime. This model predicts the existence of a heavy neutrino pair nearly degenerate in mass, whose decays might generate a CP violation large enough for creating the baryon asymmetry of the universe through leptogenesis. We investigate numerically the constraints this sets on the parameters of the model such as the size of the compactified fifth dimension.
We reveal the origin of the CP violation required by the leptogenesis in variously popular seesaw models. Especially we clarify that in a pure type-I/III seesaw with two fermion singlets/triplets, a combined type-I+III seesaw with one fermion singlet and one fermion triplet, or a combined type-I/III+II seesaw with one fermion singlet/triplet and one Higgs triplet, the CP violation for the leptogenesis can exactly come from the imaginary part of the neutrino mass matrix in a special basis where the Yukawa couplings involving one fermion singlet/triplet are allowed to get rid of any CP phases. W…
I suggest a new particle model to integrate the fermion flavor, the TeV scale Leptogenesis and cold dark matter. The model has a local gauge symmetry $U(1)_{B-L}$ at the TeV scale and a flavor family symmetry SO(3), in addition, it also contains the fourth generation fermions in which including a cold dark matter neutrino. The model can simultaneously account for the fermion masses and flavor mixings, and the baryon asymmetry and cold dark matter. It not only excellently fits all the current experimental data, but also predicts some new results which are promising to be test in future experime…
The left-right symmetric model with doublet and bi-doublet Higgs scalars can accommodate linear, inverse or double seesaw for generating small neutrino masses in the presence of three singlet fermions. If the singlet fermions have small Majorana masses, they can form three pairs of quasi-degenerate Majorana fermions with three right-handed neutrinos. The decays of the quasi-degenerate Majorana fermions can realize the resonant leptogenesis. Alternatively, the right-handed neutrinos can obtain seesaw suppressed Majorana masses if the singlet fermions are very heavy. In this case leptogenesis, w…
We study numerically a 5D hybrid model which incorporates a split fermion scenario and bulk neutrinos. We perform a Monte Carlo analysis of the model in order to find the regions in the parameter space allowing for realization of the leptogenesis. We find that higher order Yukawa terms must be included in order the model to produce a CP violation and net baryon number sufficient for the creation of the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe.
The paper suggests a left-right mirror symmetric model with the flavor symmetries $Z_{3L}\otimes Z_{3R}$. It can simultaneously accommodate the standard model, neutrino physics and the baryon asymmetry. The fermion masses and $CP$ violation originate from vacuum spontaneous breaking of the flavor field. The baryon asymmetry is implemented through the leptogenesis which is related to the lepton $CP$ violation. The model can naturally and correctly reproduce all kinds of experimental data, in particular, all of the values of the fermion masses and mixings are accurately fitted by the fewer param…
We calculate the decay rate of a Yukawa fermion in a thermal bath using finite temperature cutting rules and effective Green's functions according to the hard thermal loop resummation technique. We apply this result to the decay of a heavy Majorana neutrino in leptogenesis. Compared to the usual approach where thermal masses are inserted into the kinematics of final states, we find that deviations arise through two different leptonic dispersion relations. The decay rate differs from the usual approach by more than one order of magnitude in the temperature range which is interesting for the wea…
In this paper, we consider the possibility of generating the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe via leptogenesis in the context of triplet fermion mediated type-III seesaw model of neutrino mass. With a hierarchical spectrum of the additional fermions, the lower bound on the lightest triplet mass is $\sim 10^{10} {\rm~GeV}$ for successful leptogenesis, a couple of orders higher than that of the type-I case. We investigate the possibility of lowering this bound in the framework of two-Higgs-doublet models. We find that the bounds can be lowered down to $10^7$ GeV for a hierarchical spect…
We study the prediction for leptogenesis in two renormalizable supersymmetric $SO(10)\times A_4$ modular models in which the neutrino mass is dominantly generated by the type I seesaw mechanism. The evolution of the lepton asymmetries are described in terms of the three-flavored density matrix equations for three heavy Majorana neutrinos, where both vanishing initial condition and thermal initial condition of the right-handed neutrinos are considered. We also present an analytical approximation based on the Boltzmann equations. We find regions of parameter space compatible with the measured fe…
We present a new type of leptogenesis mechanism based on a two-scalar split-fermions framework. At high temperatures the bulk scalar vacuum expectation values (VEVs) vanish and lepton number is strongly violated. Below some temperature, $T_c$, the scalars develop extra dimension dependent VEVs. This transition is assumed to proceed via a first order phase transition. In the broken phase the fermions are localized and lepton number violation is negligible. The lepton-bulk scalar Yukawa couplings contain sizable CP phases which induce lepton production near the interface between the two phases. …
We propose a model of fermion masses and mixings based on $SU(5)$ grand unified theory (GUT) and a $D_{4}$ flavor symmetry. This is a highly predictive 4D $SU(5)$ GUT with a flavor symmetry that does not contain a triplet irreducible representation. The Yukawa matrices of quarks and charged leptons are obtained after integrating out heavy messenger fields from renormalizable superpotentials while neutrino masses originate from the type I seesaw mechanism. The group theoretical factors from 24- and 45-dimensional Higgs fields lead to ratios between the Yukawa couplings in agreement with data, w…
Generation of the neutrino masses and leptogenesis (LG) in the Standard Model extended by the heavy Majorana fermions is considered. Classification of LG scenarios according to the new fermion mass spectra is given, where singlet-triplet LG is considered for the first time. The upper bound on the CP asymmetry relevant for LG with hierarchical heavy neutrinos (Davidson-Ibarra bound) is revised, and shown that in the case of one massless neutrino it essentially depends on the type of the light neutrino mass hierarchy. The resonant scenarios, which help to avoid the problem of extremely high rehe…
We have proposed a new minimal extension of the Standard Model with a heavy Majorana fermion triplet($Σ$) and an extra scalar doublet($η$) so that the seesaw mechanism is radiative and can be accessible at upcoming accelerators. The origin of neutrino mass via the famous seesaw mechanism through the heavy Majorana fermion triplet has been discussed. We have proposed a mechanism of leptogenesis by the decay of the lightest neutral component of the fermion triplet into a Standard Model lepton doublet and an extra Higgs doublet. The important thing is that the leptogenesis scenario discussed in t…
The addition of gauge singlet fermions to the Standard Model Lagrangian renders the neutrinos massive and allows one to explain all that is experimentally known about neutrino masses and lepton mixing. At the same time, the gauge singlet fermion decays in the early universe produce a lepton asymmetry, which is converted to a baryon asymmetry via Spharelon processes (leptogenesis). On the other hand, the addition of a gauge singlet scalar to the Standard Model yields a thermal dark matter candidate through interactions between the Higgs boson and the gauge singlet scalar. By imposing a $Z_2$ sy…
We present a renormalizable model for fermion masses based solely on the double tetrahedral group T'. It does not include right handed neutrinos and majorana neutrino masses are generated radiatively. The scalar sector of the model involves three SU(2) doublets and a set of lepton number violating (charged) scalars needed to give mass to the neutrinos. In the quark sector the model leads to a Fritzsch type scenario that is consistent with all the existing data. In the lepton sector, the model leads to tribimaximal (and near tribimaximal) mixing, and an inverted mass hierarchy.
The scotogenic type I and type III seesaw models are good candidates to explain the existence of neutrino masses and dark matter simultaneously. However, since triplet fermions have SU(2) gauge interaction, they cannot be out of equilibrium before the electroweak symmetry breaking. Thus, leptogenesis seems to be difficult within a framework of the pure type III seesaw model. Some extension seems to be required to solve this fault. A model extended by introducing a singlet fermion could be such a simple example. If the singlet fermion is in the thermal equilibrium even for its extremely small n…
We propose a renormalizable theory with minimal particle content and symmetries, that successfully explains the number of Standard Model (SM) fermion families, the SM fermion mass hierarchy, the tiny values for the light active neutrino masses, the lepton and baryon asymmetry of the Universe, the dark matter relic density as well as the muon and electron anomalous magnetic moments. In the proposed model, the top quark and the exotic fermions do acquire tree-level masses whereas the SM charged fermions lighter than the top quark gain one-loop level masses. Besides that, the tiny masses for the …
Current neutrino oscillation data indicate the existence of two large lepton mixing angles, while Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements are all small. Here we show how supersymmetric SO(10) with extra chiral singlets can easily reconcile large lepton mixing angles with small quark mixing angles within the framework of the successful Fritzsch ansatz. Moreover we show how this is fully consistent with the thermal leptogenesis scenario, avoiding the so-called gravitino problem. A sizeable asymmetry can be generated at relatively low scales. We present our results in terms of the leptonic CP violation…

We propose a low-scale renormalizable trinification theory that successfully explains the flavor hierarchies and neutrino puzzle in the Standard Model (SM), as well as provides a dark matter candidate and also contains the necessary means for efficient leptogenesis. The proposed theory is based on the trinification $\SU{3}{C}\times \SU{3}{L}\times \SU{3}{R}$ gauge symmetry, which is supplemented with an additional flavor symmetry $\U{X}\times Z_{2}^{(1)} \times Z_{2}^{(2)}$. In the proposed model the top quark and the exotic fermions acquire tree-level masses, whereas the lighter SM charged fe…
We construct a model realizing the inverse seesaw mechanism. The model has two types of gauge singlet fermions in addition to right-handed neutrinos. A required Majorana mass scale (keV scale) for generating the light active neutrino mass in the conventional inverse seesaw can be naturally explained by a "seesaw" mechanism between the two singlet fermions in our model. We find that our model can decrease the magnitude of hierarchy among the mass parameters by $\mathcal{O}(10^4)$ from that in the conventional inverse seesaw model. We also show that a successful resonant leptogenesis occurs for …
We consider a minimal non-supersymmetric $SO(10)$ Grand Unified Theory (GUT) model that can reproduce the observed fermionic masses and mixing parameters of the Standard Model. We calculate the scales of spontaneous symmetry breaking from the GUT to the Standard Model gauge group using two-loop renormalisation group equations. This procedure determines the proton decay rate and the scale of $U(1)_{B-L}$ breaking, which generates cosmic strings and the right-handed neutrino mass scales. Consequently, the regions of parameter space where thermal leptogenesis is viable are identified and correlat…
The existence of baryon asymmetry and dark matter in the Universe may be related to CP-violating reactions of three heavy neutral leptons (HNLs) with masses well below the Fermi scale. The dynamical description of the lepton asymmetry generation, which is the key ingredient of baryogenesis and of dark matter production, is quite complicated due to the presence of many different relaxation time scales and the necessity to include quantum-mechanical coherent effects in HNL oscillations. We derive kinetic equations accounting for fermion number violating effects missed so far and identify one of …
Baryon and lepton numbers of the Universe in leptogenesis with Dirac neutrino and leptogenesis with Majorana neutrino scenarios are considered. It is shown that despite quite different features of Dirac and Majorana fermions both scenarios yield the same relation among the initial lepton and the final baryon asymmetries. Moreover right-handed neutrinos in the leptogenesis with Dirac neutrino scenario have very little impact on the effective number of relativistic degrees of freedom, constrained by BBN. Thus the two scenarios are similar from the cosmological point of view. It is also pointed o…
The lightness of the Standard Model (SM) neutrinos could be understood if their masses were to be generated by new physics at a high scale, through the so-called seesaw mechanism involving heavy fermion singlets. If new physics violates baryon minus lepton number by only a small amount, the heavy fermion singlets as well as the SM neutrinos split into pairs of quasi-Dirac states. At the scale of the fermion singlets, this quasi-Diracness allows to enhance CP violation in their decays and the cosmic matter-antimatter asymmetry can be successfully generated through resonant leptogenesis. At lowe…
We demonstrate a unified scenario for neutrino mass, baryon asymmetry, dark matter and inflation. In addition to a fermion triplet for the so-called minimal dark matter, we extend the standard model by three heavy fields including a scalar singlet, a fermion triplet and a fermion singlet/Higgs triplet. The heavy scalar singlet, which is expected to drive an inflation, and the dark matter fermion triplet are odd under an unbroken $Z_2^{}$ discrete symmetry, while the other fields are all even. The heavy fermion triplet offers a tree-level type-III seesaw and then mediates a three-body decay of …
We explain the electron-positron excess reported by the DAMPE collaboration recently in a radiative Dirac seesaw model where a dark $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry can (i) forbid the tree-level Yukawa couplings of three right-handed neutrinos to the standard model lepton and Higgs doublets, (ii) predict the existence of three dark fermions for the gauge anomaly cancellation, (iii) mediate a testable scattering of the lightest dark fermion off the nucleons. Our model can also accommodate a successful leptogenesis to generate the cosmic baryon asymmetry.
We calculate the decay rate of the lightest heavy Majorana neutrino in a thermal bath using finite temperature cutting rules and effective Green's functions according to the hard thermal loop resummation technique. Compared to the usual approach where thermal masses are inserted into the kinematics of final states, we find that deviations arise through two different leptonic dispersion relations. The decay rate differs from the usual approach by more than one order of magnitude in the temperature range which is interesting for the weak washout regime. This work summarizes the results of Ref. We have constructed a SUSY SO(10) x SU(2)_F model in which a set of symmetric mass matrices with five texture zeros (having 11 parameters) leads to 22 measurable fermion masses, mixing angles and CP phases, all in agreement with available experimental data within one sigma. The LMA solution for solar neutrinos is obtained as well as neutrino mixing angles and absolute values of neutrino masses. We have investigated the possibility of baryogenesis resulting from soft leptogenesis. We find that, with soft SUSY masses assuming their natural values of the order of a TeV, the observed baryon asymme…
Despite the lack of evidence of new physics at colliders, neutrino masses, dark matter and matter-antimatter asymmetry of the universe require an extension of the Standard Model. After discussing some new concepts and tools in the description of seesaw neutrino models, such as motion in flavour lepton space and the introduction of the bridging matrix that nicely complements the orthogonal matrix, I discuss recent developments in the connections between neutrino data and scenarios of leptogenesis within some well motivated extensions of the Standard Model. Finally, I briefly review a simple uni…
A mechanism for leptogenesis at the electroweak scale was investigated in a model of dark energy and dark matter proposed by one of us (PQH). This model involves an asymptotically free gauge group SU(2)Z and an axion-like particle with an SU(2)Z-instanton-induced potential which yields a scenario for the dark energy. Furthermore, the extended particle content of this SU(2)Z model contains a possible candidate for the cold dark matter, namely, the SU(2)Z "shadow" fermion, which couples with the Standard Model lepton through a scalar "messenger field" carrying both SU(2)Z and electroweak quantum…
In a recent publication, we suggested a mechanism for obtaining dynamical CP violation in the early Universe based on the out-of-equilibrium evolution of complex scalar fields. In this paper, we suggest several ways of transferring the CP asymmetry from the scalar sector to the leptonic sector. In particular, we point out how a ``transient MNS(P) matrix'' can generate an asymmetry between fermions and anti-fermions directly.
We analyze the importance of flavor effects in models in which leptogenesis proceeds via the decay of Majorana electroweak triplets. We find that depending on the relative strengths of gauge and Yukawa reactions the $B-L$ asymmetry can be sizably enhanced, exceeding in some cases an order of magnitude level. We also discuss the impact that such effects can have for TeV-scale triplets showing that as long as the $B-L$ asymmetry is produced by the dynamics of the lightest such triplet they are negligible, but open the possibility for scenarios in which the asymmetry is generated above the TeV sc…
I present the two-loop self-energy functions and pole masses for fermions in an arbitrary renormalizable field theory, in the approximation that vector bosons are treated as massless. The calculations are done simultaneously in the mass-independent \bar{MS}, \bar{DR}, and \bar{DR}' renormalization schemes, with a general covariant gauge fixing, and treating Majorana and Dirac fermions in a unified way. As examples, I discuss the two-loop strong interaction corrections to the gluino, neutralino, chargino, and quark pole masses in minimal supersymmetry. All other two-loop contributions to the fe…
We propose a scalar Triplet extension of the standard model (SM) to unify the origin of neutrino mass with the visible and dark matter component of the Universe. We assume that the scalar triplet is super heavy, so that its CP-violating out-of-equilibrium decay in the early Universe not only produce asymmetric dark matter which is the neutral component of an additional vector like fermion doublet, but also give rise to lepton asymmetry. The latter gets converted to observed baryon asymmetry via B+L violating sphaleron processes. Below electroweak phase transition the scalar triplet acquires a …
We propose that weak scale leptogenesis via $\sim 10$ TeV scale right-handed neutrinos could be possible if their couplings had transitory larger values in the early Universe. The requisite lifted parameters can be attained if a light scalar $ϕ$ is displaced a long distance from its origin by the thermal population of fermions $X$ that become massive before electroweak symmetry breaking. The fermion $X$ can be a viable dark matter candidate; for suitable choice of parameters, the light scalar itself can be dark matter through a misalignment mechanism. We find that a two-component DM population…
We demonstrate a common origin for high-scale leptogenesis and three-loop neutrino mass generation. Specifically we extend the standard model by two real singlet scalars, two singly charged scalars carrying different lepton numbers and two or more singlet fermions with Majorana masses. Our model respects a softly broken lepton number and an exactly conserved $Z_2^{}$ discrete symmetry. Through the lepton-number-violating decays of the real scalars and then the lepton-number-conserving decays of the charged scalars, we can obtain a lepton asymmetry stored in the standard model leptons. This lep…
We extend the DFSZ invisible axion model to simultaneously explain small Dirac neutrino masses and cosmic matter-antimatter asymmetry. After the Peccei-Quinn and electroweak symmetry breaking, the effective Yukawa couplings of the Dirac neutrinos to the standard model Higgs scalar can be highly suppressed by the ratio of the vacuum expectation value of an iso-triplet Higgs scalar over the masses of some heavy gauge-singlet fermions, iso-doublet Higgs scalars or iso-triplet fermions. The iso-triplet fields can carry a zero or nonzero hypercharge. Through the decays of the heavy gauge-singlet fe…
We consider fermion masses and mixings in a renormalizable SUSY SO(10) GUT with Yukawa couplings of scalar fields in the representation 10 + 120 + 126 bar. We investigate a scenario defined by the following assumptions: i) A single large scale in the theory, the GUT scale. ii) Small neutrino masses generated by the type I seesaw mechanism with negligible type II contributions. iii) A suitable form of spontaneous CP breaking which induces hermitian mass matrices for all fermion mass terms of the Dirac type. Our assumptions define an 18-parameter scenario for the fermion mass matrices for 18 exp…
We present a complete computation of the inflaton decay into very massive fermions during preheating. We show that heavy fermions are produced very efficiently up to masses of order 10^{17}-10^{18} GeV; the accessible mass range is thus even broader than the one for heavy bosons. We apply our findings to the leptogenesis scenario, proposing a new version of it, in which the massive right-handed neutrinos, responsible for the generation of the baryon asymmetry, are produced during preheating. We also discuss other production mechanisms of right-handed neutrinos in the early Universe, identifyin…
A framework based on an effective symmetry that is either G(224)= SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R xSU(4)^c or SO(10) has been proposed (a few years ago) that successfully describes the masses and mixings of all fermions including neutrinos, with seven predictions, in good accord with the data. Baryogenesis via leptogenesis is considered within this framework by allowing for natural phases (~ 1/20-1/2) in the entries of the Dirac and Majorana mass-matrices. It is shown that the framework leads quite naturally, for both thermal as well as non-thermal leptogenesis, to the desired magnitude for the baryon asymm…
We propose a predictive $Q_4$ flavored 2HDM model, where the scalar sector is enlarged by the inclusion of several gauge singlet scalars and the fermion sector by the inclusion of right handed Majorana neutrinos. In our model, the $Q_4$ family symmetry is supplemented by several auxiliary cyclic symmetries, whose spontaneous breaking produces the observed pattern of SM charged fermion masses and quark mixing angles. The light active neutrino masses are generated from an inverse seesaw mechanism at one loop level thanks to a remnant preserved $Z_2$ symmetry. Our model succesfully reproduces the…

We explore the phenomenology of the Georgi-Machacek model extended with two Higgs doublets and vector fermion doublets invariant under $SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y\times \mathcal {Z}_4 \times \mathcal {Z}_2$. The $\mathcal {Z}_4$ symmetry is broken spontaneously while the imposed $\mathcal {Z}_2$ symmetry forbids triplet fields to generate any vacuum expectation value and leading to an inert dark sector providing a viable candidate for dark matter and generate neutrino mass radiatively. Another interesting feature of the model is leptogenesis arising from decay of vector-like fermions. A detailed st…
We propose a UV completion of the inverse see-saw scenario using fermion SU(2) triplet representations. Within this framework, a variation of the standard thermal leptogenesis is achievable at the O(TeV) scale, owing to the presence of a viable dark matter candidate. This baryogenesis scenario is ruled out if a triplet fermion is observed at the LHC. The dark matter is given by the lightest neutral component of a complex scalar SU(2) triplet, with mass in the TeV range. The scalar sector, which is enriched in order to account for the small neutrino masses, is treated in detail and shows potent…
We have studied dark matter (DM) phenomenology, neutrinoless double beta decay (NDBD) and realized low scale leptogenesis in an extension of Standard Model(SM) with three neutral fermions, a scalar doublet and a dark sector incorporating a singlet scalar and a Dirac singlet fermion. A generic model based on $A_4\times Z_4$ flavor symmetry including five flavons is used to explain both normal and inverted hierarchy mass patterns of neutrino and also to accommodate the dark matter mass. In this extension of the $ν$2HDM, the effective neutrino mass observed in $0νββ$ is well within the experiment…
We use proper-time regularizations to define the one-loop fermion determinant in the form suggested by Gasser and Leutwyler some years ago. We show how to obtain the polynomial by which this definition of ln det D needs to be modified in order to arrive at the fermion determinant whose modulus is invarinat under chiral transformations. As an example it is shown how the fundamental symmetries associated with the NJL model are preserved in a consistent way.
We investigate a scenario in a supersymmetric SO(10) Grand Unified Theory in which the fermion mass matrices are generated by renormalizable Yukawa couplings of the $\mathbf{10} \oplus \mathbf{120} \oplus \bar{\mathbf{126}}$ representation of scalars. We reduce the number of parameters by assuming spontaneous CP violation and a $\mathbbm{Z}_2$ family symmetry, leading to nine real Yukawa coupling constants for three families. Since in the ``minimal SUSY SO(10) GUT'' an intermediate seesaw scale is ruled out and our scenario lives in the natural extension of this theory by the $\mathbf{120}$, w…
In a recent review Mohapatra has discussed how type-I seesaw mechanism suppressed by fine tuning of Yukawa couplings, or specific textures of associated fermion mass matrices, can form the basis of neutrino masses in TeV scale $W_R$ boson models. In this paper we review recent works in another class of theories where the added presence of fermion singlets manifesting as sterile neutrinos render the type-I seesaw contribution vanishing but extended seesaw dominant where the light neutrino mass formula is same as the classic inverse seesaw but all massive neutrinos are Majorana fermions. We also…
Scalar condensation, the well-established Higgs phenomenon, is the standard paradigm for building up renormalizable gauge-invariant theories of massive gauge bosons. In this short note, we demonstrate the uniqueness of the Higgs vacuum state under the possible presence of fermion condensates in a renormalizable U(1) model. In the same context, we explain why spontaneous spin-statistics violation is technically not admitted in conventional Quantum Field Theory.
