The class of semi-hard reactions represents a promising venue where to enhance our knowledge of strong interactions and deepen the aspects related to this theory in kinematical regimes so far unexplored. In particular, the high energies reached in electron-proton and in proton-proton collisions first at HERA and then at the LHC, allow us to study scattering amplitudes of hard and semi-hard processes in perturbative QCD. The structure of this thesis can be considered twofold. On one hand, the possibility to distinguish those channels where at least two final-state particles are emitted with large separation in rapidity and with an untagged system, permits to test the BFKL dynamics as resummation energy logarithms in the $t$-channel. In the BFKL formalism, the Mueller--Navelet jets process has been one of the most investigated reactions. With the idea of deepening our understanding of the BFKL approach, a new channel is proposed: the inclusive production of a light charged hadron and a jet with high transverse momentum widely separated in rapidity. The importance of this process relies in the possibility to probe a complementary region to one analyzed for the Mueller--Navelet jets. Additionally, another reaction is proposed: the heavy-quark pairs hadroproduction. On the other hand, also the class of processes featured by the detection of a single forward object in lepton-proton collision offers the opportunity to develop intriguing phenomenological studies. In particular, the exclusive leptoproduction of light vector mesons, $ρ$ and $ϕ$, is exhaustively investigated. In this context, the study of helicity-dependent observables allows us to discriminate among several unintegrated gluon distribution models, whose original definition naturally encodes the BFKL-equation evolution dynamics. This kind of parton density allows us to get access to the hadronic structure at small-$x$.
We present detailed numerical analysis of the unintegrated double gluon distribution which includes the dependence on the transverse momenta of partons. The unintegrated double gluon distribution was obtained following the Kimber-Martin-Ryskin method as a convolution of the perturbative gluon splitting function with the collinear integrated double gluon distribution and the Sudakov form factors. We analyze the dependence on the transverse momenta, longitudinal momentum fractions and hard scales. We find that the unintegrated gluon distribution factorizes into a product of two single unintegrat…
We present here some arguments to support our suggestion that data on the helicity structure for the hard exclusive electroproduction of $ρ$ mesons at HERA (and in possible future high-energy electron-proton colliders) provide useful information to constrain the $κ$-shape of the unintegrated gluon distribution in the proton.
We evaluate the unintegrated gluon distribution of the proton starting from a parametrization of the color dipole cross section including DGLAP evolution and saturation effects. To this end, we perform the Fourier-Bessel transform of $σ(x,r)/α(r)$. At large transverse momentum of gluons we match the so-obtained distribution to the logarithmic derivative of the collinear gluon distribution. We check our approach by calculating the proton structure function $F_L(x,Q^2)$ finding good agreement with HERA data.
The gluon content of the proton is embodied by the unintegrated gluon distribution (UGD), which has universal validity. In literature many models of UGD have been proposed so far. The polarized $ρ$-meson leptoproduction at HERA offers a nowadays unexplored testfield to discriminate among existing models of UGD, via the comparison with theoretical predictions formulated in the $κ$-factorization approach.
Sufficiently inclusive processes, like the deep inelastic scattering (DIS), are described in terms of scale-dependent parton distributions, which correspond to the density of partons with a given longitudinal momentum fraction, integrated over the parton transverse momentum. For less inclusive processes, one needs to consider densities unintegrated over the transverse momentum. This work focuses on the unintegrated gluon distribution (UGD), describing the probability that a gluon can be emitted by a colliding proton, with definite longitudinal fraction and transverse momentum. Through the lept…
The gluon content of the proton, in the high-energy regime, is embodied by the unintegrated gluon distribution (UGD), which describes the gluon emission probability, with a given longitudinal momentum fraction and transverse momentum. The UGD, formulated within the $κ$-factorization approach, has universal validity and several models for it have been proposed so far. We will show that the polarized $ρ$-meson leptoproduction at HERA is a not trivial testfield for discriminating among existing models of UGD.
Exclusive emissions of vector mesons in forward directions of rapidity offer us a faultless chance to probe the proton structure at small-$x$. A high-energy factorization formula is established within BFKL, given as the convolution of an impact factor depicting the forward-meson emission and of an unintegrated gluon distribution (UGD) driving the gluon evolution at small-$x$. As a nonperturbative quantity, the UGD is not well known and several models for it exist. We present recent progresses on the study of the exclusive forward $ρ$-meson leptoproduction at HERA and EIC energies, showing how …
We discuss the unintegrated parton distribution functions (UPDFs) introduced by Kimber, Martin and Ryskin (KMR), which are frequently used in phenomenological analyses of hard processes with transverse momenta of partons taken into account. We demonstrate numerically that the commonly used differential definition of the UPDFs leads to erroneous results for large transverse momenta. We identify the reason for that, being the use of the ordinary PDFs instead of the cutoff dependent distribution functions. We show that in phenomenological applications, the integral definition of the UPDFs with th…
We provide a semi-classical description of the inclusive gluon induced Deep Inelastic Scattering cross section in a way that accounts for the leading powers in both the Regge and Bjorken limits. Our approach thus allows a systematic matching of small and moderate $x_{\rm Bj}$ regimes of gluon proton structure functions. We find a new unintegrated gluon distribution with an explicit dependence on the longitudinal momentum fraction $x$ which entirely spans both the dipole operator and the gluonic Parton Distribution Function. Computing this gauge invariant gluon operator on the lattice could all…
In this talk, we revisit inclusive DIS in the small $x$ limit and derive a new factorization formula that accounts for leading powers in both Bjorken and Regge limits. In this semi-classical description, we obtain a new unintegrated gluon distribution which encompasses both the dipole operator and the gluon Parton Distribution Function with an explicit dependence on the longitudinal momentum fraction $x$.
Inclusive as well as exclusive emissions in forward and central directions of rapidity are widely recognized as excellent channels to access the proton structure at small-x. In this regime, to describe nucleons structure, it is necessary to use kT-unintegrated distributions. In particular, at large transverse momenta, the x-evolution of the so-called unintegrated gluon distribution is driven by the Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov equation, within the framework of the high-energy factorization (HEF). Recent analyses on the diffractive electroproduction of ρmesons have corroborated the underlying …
We derive analytical results for unintegrated color dipole gluon distribution function at small transverse momentum. By Fourier transforming the $S$-matrix for large dipoles we derive the results in the form of a series of Bells polynomials. Interestingly, when resumming the series in leading log accuracy, the results showing up striking similarity with the Sudakov form factor with role play of coupling is being done by a constant that stems from the saddle point condition along the saturation line.
Higgs production within $k_t$-factorization with unintegrated gluon distributions
我们还包括高阶贡献$g g \to H (\to γγ) g$、$g g \to g H g$以及$W^+ W^-$和$Z^0 Z^0$交换的贡献。$gg\to Hg$机制给出了与$gg\to H$机制类似的贡献。我们认为,几乎没有重复计算时,添加$gg\to H$和$gg\to Hg$的贡献,由于不同的拓扑结构相应的费曼图。最后的总和与ATLAS双光子数据相当。
