The superalgebra of $\Z_2^2$-graded supersymmetric quantum mechanics is shown to be realizable in terms of a single bosonic degree of freedom. Such an approach is directly inspired by a description of the corresponding $\Z_2$-graded superalgebra in the framework of a Calogero-Vasiliev algebra or, more generally, of a generalized deformed oscillator algebra. In the case of the $\Z_2^2$-graded superalgebra, the central element $Z$ has the property of distinguishing between degenerate eigenstates of the Hamiltonian.
Bosonization approach to the classical supersymmetric systems is presented. By introducing the multi-fermionic parameters in the expansions of the superfields, the $\mathcal {N}=1$ supersymmetric KdV (sKdV) equations are transformed to a system of coupled bosonic equations. The method can be applied to any fermionic systems. By solving the coupled bosonic equations, some novel types of exact solutions can be explicitly obtained. Especially, the richness of the localized excitations of the supersymmetric integrable system are discovered. The rich multi-soliton solutions obtained here have not y…
We study an important property of shape invariant supersymmetric quantum mechanical systems. Particularly, we demonstrate that each shape invariant supersymmetric system can constitute a $Z_3$-graded topological symmetric algebra. The latter is known to provide topological invariants which are generalizations of the Witten index. In addition, we relate the $Z_3$-graded algebra to the generators of the SO(2,1) Lie algebra underlying each shape invariant system. We generalize the results to the case of sequential shape invariant systems, in which case we find a sequence of $Z_3$-graded algebras.…
A quantum mechanical model that realizes the $ \mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2$-graded generalization of the one-dimensional supertranslation algebra is proposed. This model shares some features with the well-known Witten model and is related to parasupersymmetric quantum mechanics, though the model is not directly equivalent to either of these. The purpose of this paper is to show that novel "higher gradings" are possible in the context of non-relativistic quantum mechanics.
C$_λ$-extended oscillator algebras, where C$_λ$ is the cyclic group of order $λ$, are introduced and realized as generalized deformed oscillator algebras. For $λ=2$, they reduce to the well-known Calogero-Vasiliev algebra. For higher $λ$ values, they are shown to provide in their bosonic Fock space representation some interesting applications to supersymmetric quantum mechanics and some variants thereof: an algebraic realization of supersymmetric quantum mechanics for cyclic shape invariant potentials of period $λ$, a bosonization of parasupersymmetric quantum mechanics of order $p = λ-1$, and…
In the recent paper, Bruce and Duplij introduced a double-graded version of supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SQM). It is an extension of Lie superalgebraic nature of ${\cal N}=1$ SQM to a $\mathbb{Z}_2^2$-graded superalgebra. In this work, we propose an extension of Bruce-Duplij model to higher values of $\cal N.$ Furthermore, it is shown that our construction of double-graded SQM is a special case of the method which converts a given Lie superalgebra to a $\mathbb{Z}_2^2$-graded superalgebra. By employing this method one may convert a model of superconformal mechanics to its double-graded ve…
It is shown that the ${\cal N}=1$ supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SQM) can be extended to a $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-graded superalgebra. This is done by presenting quantum mechanical models which realize, with the aid of Clifford gamma matrices, the $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-graded Poincaré algebra in one-dimensional spacetime. Reflecting the fact that the $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-graded Poincaré algebra has a number of central elements, a sequence of models defining the $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-graded version of SQM are provided for a given value of $n.$ In a model of the sequence, the central elements having the same $\m…
We consider the problem of bosonizing supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SSQM) and some of its variants, i.e., of realizing them in terms of only boson-like operators without fermion-like ones. In the SSQM case, this is realized in terms of the generators of the Calogero-Vasiliev algebra (also termed deformed Heisenberg algebra with reflection). In that of the SSQM variants, this is done by considering generalizations of the latter algebra, namely the $C_λ$-extended oscillator algebras, where $C_λ$ is the cyclic group of order~$λ$.
$C_λ$-extended oscillator algebras are realized as generalized deformed oscillator algebras. For $λ= 3$, the spectrum of the corresponding bosonic oscillator Hamiltonian is shown to strongly depend on the algebra parameters. A connection with cyclic shape invariant potentials is noted. A bosonization of PSSQM of order two is obtained.
We argue supersymmetric generalizations of fuzzy two- and four-spheres based on the unitary-orthosymplectic algebras, $uosp(N|2)$ and $uosp(N|4)$, respectively. Supersymmetric version of Schwinger construction is applied to derive graded fully symmetric representation for fuzzy superspheres. As a classical counterpart of fuzzy superspheres, graded versions of 1st and 2nd Hopf maps are introduced, and their basic geometrical structures are studied. It is shown that fuzzy superspheres are represented as a "superposition" of fuzzy superspheres with lower supersymmetries. We also investigate algeb…
The recent surge of interest in ${\mathbb Z}_2\times {\mathbb Z}_2$-graded invariant mechanics poses the challenge of understanding the physical consequences of a ${\mathbb Z}_2\times{\mathbb Z}_2$-graded symmetry. In this paper it is shown that non-trivial physics can be detected in the multiparticle sector of a theory, being induced by the ${\mathbb Z}_2\times{\mathbb Z}_2$-graded parastatistics obeyed by the particles. The toy model of the ${\cal N}=4$ supersymmetric/ ${\mathbb Z}_2\times {\mathbb Z}_2$-graded oscillator is used. In this set-up the one-particle energy levels and their degen…
Generalizing the graded commutator in superalgebras, we propose a new bracket operation on the space of graded operators with an involution. We study properties of this operation and show that the Lax representation of the two-dimensional N=(1|1) supersymmetric Toda lattice hierarchy can be realized via the generalized bracket operation; this is important in constructing the semiclassical (continuum) limit of this hierarchy. We construct the continuum limit of the N=(1|1) Toda lattice hierarchy, the dispersionless N=(1|1) Toda hierarchy. In this limit, we obtain the Lax representation, with th…
The graded off-diagonal Bethe ansatz method is proposed to study supersymmetric quantum integrable models (i.e., quantum integrable models associated with superalgebras). As an example, the exact solutions of the $SU(2|2)$ vertex model with both periodic and generic open boundary conditions are constructed. By generalizing the fusion techniques to the supersymmetric case, a closed set of operator product identities about the transfer matrices are derived, which allows us to give the eigenvalues in terms of homogeneous or inhomogeneous $T-Q$ relations. The method and results provided in this pa…
We show that the metric operator for a pseudo-supersymmetric Hamiltonian that has at least one negative real eigenvalue is necessarily indefinite. We introduce pseudo-Hermitian fermion (phermion) and abnormal phermion algebras and provide a pair of basic realizations of the algebra of N=2 pseudo-supersymmetric quantum mechanics in which pseudo-supersymmetry is identified with either a boson-phermion or a boson-abnormal-phermion exchange symmetry. We further establish the physical equivalence (non-equivalence) of phermions (abnormal phermions) with ordinary fermions, describe the underlying Lie…
It is shown that the modulus of any graded or, more generally, twisted KMS functional of a C*-dynamical system is proportional to an ordinary KMS state and the twist is weakly inner in the corresponding GNS-representation. If the functional is invariant under the adjoint action of some asymptotically abelian family of automorphisms, then the twist is trivial. As a consequence, such functionals do not exist for supersymmetric C*-dynamical systems. This is in contrast with the situation in compact spaces where super KMS functionals occur as super-Gibbs functionals.
Fractional supersymmetric quantum mechanics of order $λ$ is realized in terms of the generators of a generalized deformed oscillator algebra and a Z$_λ$-grading structure is imposed on the Fock space of the latter. This realization is shown to be fully reducible with the irreducible components providing $λ$ sets of minimally bosonized operators corresponding to both unbroken and broken cases. It also furnishes some examples of Z$_λ$-graded uniform topological symmetry of type (1, 1, ..., 1) with topological invariants generalizing the Witten index.
Irreducible representations (irreps) of $\mathbb{Z}_2^2$-graded supersymmetry algebra of ${\cal N}=2$ are obtained by the method of induced representation and they are used to derive $\mathbb{Z}_2^2$-graded supersymmetric classical actions. The irreps are four dimensional for $ λ= 0$ where $ λ$ is an eigenvalue of the Casimir element, and eight dimensional for $λ\neq 0.$ The eight dimensional irreps reduce to four dimensional ones only when $λ$ and an eigenvalue of Hamiltonian satisfy a particular relation. The reduced four dimensional irreps are used to define $\mathbb{Z}_2^2$-graded supersym…
For integrable inhomogeneous supersymmetric spin chains (generalized graded magnets) constructed employing Y(gl(N|M))-invariant R-matrices in finite-dimensional representations we introduce the master T-operator which is a sort of generating function for the family of commuting quantum transfer matrices. Any eigenvalue of the master T-operator is the tau-function of the classical mKP hierarchy. It is a polynomial in the spectral parameter which is identified with the 0-th time of the hierarchy. This implies a remarkable relation between the quantum supersymmetric spin chains and classical many…
We start with some methodic remarks referring to purely bosonic quantum systems and then explain how corrections to the leading--order quasiclassical result for the fermion--graded partition function Tr{(-1)^F exp(-βH)} can be calculated at small β. We perform such calculation for certain supersymmetric quantum mechanical systems where such corrections are expected to appear. We consider in particular supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory reduced to (0+1) dimensions and were surprised to find that the correction of order β^2 vanishes in this case. We discuss also a nonstandard N =2 supersymmetric s…
These notes are an elementary introduction to supersymmetric quantum mechanics for students of mathematics. We start from the very basic concepts of quantum mechanics and proceed to construct a realization of Heisenberg's superalgebra as a subalgebra of the graded algebra of endomorphisms of a certain supervector space (obtaining thus an example of Ado's theorem for Lie superalgebras), using Witten's model of supersymmetric quantum mechanics. The notes were written for a graduate seminar at the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí.
We realize the simple Lie superalgebra G(3) as supersymmetry of various geometric structures, most importantly super-versions of the Hilbert-Cartan equation (SHC) and Cartan's involutive PDE system that exhibit G(2) symmetry. We provide the symmetries explicitly and compute, via the first Spencer cohomology groups, the Tanaka-Weisfeiler prolongation of the negatively graded Lie superalgebras associated with two particular choices of parabolics. We discuss non-holonomic superdistributions with growth vector (2|4,1|2,2|0) deforming the flat model SHC, and prove that the second Spencer cohomology…
Given a finite group G and a G-space X, we show that a direct sum $F_G (X) = \bigoplus_{n \geq 0}K_{G_n} (X^n) \bigotimes \C$ admits a natural graded Hopf algebra and $λ$-ring structure, where $G_n$ denotes the wreath product $G \sim S_n$. $F_G (X)$ is shown to be isomorphic to a certain supersymmetric product in terms of $K_G(X)\bigotimes \C$ as a graded algebra. We further prove that $F_G (X)$ is isomorphic to the Fock space of an infinite dimensional Heisenberg (super)algebra. As one of several applications, we compute the orbifold Euler characteristic $e(X^n, G_n)$.
We introduce two classes of novel color superalgebras of $ \mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2 $ grading. This is done by realizing members of each in the universal enveloping algebra of the ${\cal N}=1$ supersymmetric extension of the conformal Galilei algebra. This allows us to upgrade any representation of the super conformal Galilei algebras to a representation of the $ \mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2 $ graded algebra. As an example, boson-fermion Fock space representation of one class is given. We also provide a vector field realization of members of the other class by using a generalizatio…
The purpose of this paper is to generalize Zhu's theorem about characters of modules over a vertex operator algebra graded by integer conformal weights, to the setting of a vertex operator superalgebra graded by rational conformal weights. To recover SL_2(Z)-invariance of the characters it turns out to be necessary to consider twisted modules alongside ordinary ones. It also turns out to be necessary, in describing the space of conformal blocks in the supersymmetric case, to include certain `odd traces' on modules alongside traces and supertraces. We prove that the set of supertrace functions,…
An off-shell representation of supersymmetry is a representation of the super Poincare algebra on a dynamically unconstrained space of fields. We describe such representations formally, in terms of the fields and their spacetime derivatives, and we interpret the physical concept of engineering dimension as an integral grading. We prove that formal graded off-shell representations of one-dimensional N-extended supersymmetry, i.e., the super Poincare algebra p^{1|N}, correspond to filtered Clifford supermodules over Cl(N). We also prove that formal graded off-shell representations of two-dimensi…
Poisson superpair is a pair of Poisson superalgebra structures on a super commutative associative algebra, whose any linear combination is also a Poisson superalgebra structure. In this paper, we first construct certain linear and quadratic Poisson superpairs over a finite-dimensional or semi-finitely-filtered polarized $\Bbb{Z}_2$-graded associative algebra. Then we give a construction of certain Hamiltonian superpairs in the formal variational calculus over any finite-dimensional $\Bbb{Z}_2$-graded associative algebra with a supersymmetric nondegenerate associative bilinear form. Our constru…
We introduce the quasi-Hopf superalgebras which are $Z_2$ graded versions of Drinfeld's quasi-Hopf algebras. We describe the realization of elliptic quantum supergroups as quasi-triangular quasi-Hopf superalgebras obtained from twisting the normal quantum supergroups by twistors which satisfy the graded shifted cocycle condition, thus generalizing the quasi-Hopf twisting procedure to the supersymmetric case. Two types of elliptic quantum supergroups are defined, that is the face type $B_{q,λ}(G)$ and the vertex type $A_{q,p}[\hat{sl(n|n)}]$ (and $A_{q,p}[\hat{gl(n|n)}]$), where $G$ is any Kac-…
$C_λ$-extended oscillator algebras generalizing the Calogero-Vasiliev algebra, where $C_λ$ is the cyclic group of order $λ$, are studied both from mathematical and applied viewpoints. Casimir operators of the algebras are obtained, and used to provide a complete classification of their unitary irreducible representations under the assumption that the number operator spectrum is nondegenerate. Deformed algebras admitting Casimir operators analogous to those of their undeformed counterparts are looked for, yielding three new algebraic structures. One of them includes the Brzeziński {\em et al.} …
The treatment of supersymmetry is known to cause difficulties in the C*-algebraic framework of relativistic quantum field theory; several no-go theorems indicate that super-derivations and super-KMS functionals must be quite singular objects in a C*-algebraic setting. In order to clarify the situation, a simple supersymmetric chiral field theory of a free Fermi and Bose field defined on $\R$ is analyzed. It is shown that a meaningful C*-version of this model can be based on the tensor product of a CAR-algebra and a novel version of a CCR-algebra, the "resolvent algebra". The elements of this r…
The minimal irreducible representations of $U_q[gl(m|n)]$, i.e. those irreducible representations that are also irreducible under $U_q[osp(m|n)]$ are investigated and shown to be affinizable to give irreducible representations of the twisted quantum affine superalgebra $U_q[gl(m|n)^{(2)}]$. The $U_q[osp(m|n)]$ invariant R-matrices corresponding to the tensor product of any two minimal representations are constructed, thus extending our twisted tensor product graph method to the supersymmetric case. These give new solutions to the spectral-dependent graded Yang-Baxter equation arising from $U_q…
