In this paper, we introduce the concept of the (higher order) Appell-Carlitz numbers which unifies the definitions of several special numbers in positive characteristic, such as the Bernoulli-Carlitz numbers and the Cauchy-Carlitz numbers.Their generating function is usually named Hurwitz series in the function field arithmetic. By using Hasse-Teichmüller derivatives, we also obtain several properties of the (higher order) Appell-Carlitz numbers, including a recurrence formula, two closed forms expressions, and a determinant expression.
The recurrence formula implies Carlitz's recurrence formula for Bernoulli-Carlitz numbers. Two closed from expressions implies the corresponding results for Bernoulli-Carlitz and Cauchy-Carlitz numbers . The determinant expression implies the corresponding results for Bernoulli-Carlitz and Cauchy-Carlitz numbers, which are analogues of the classical determinant expressions of Bernoulli and Cauchy numbers stated in an article by Glaisher in 1875.
Recently, the Cauchy-Carlitz number was defined as the counterpart of the Bernoulli-Carlitz number. Both numbers can be expressed explicitly in terms of so-called Stirling-Carlitz numbers. In this paper, we study the second analogue of Stirling-Carlitz numbers and give some general formulae, including Bernoulli and Cauchy numbers in formal power series with complex coefficients, and Bernoulli-Carlitz and Cauchy-Carlitz numbers in function fields. We also give some applications of Hasse-Teichmüller derivative to hypergeometric Bernoulli and Cauchy numbers in terms of associated Stirling numbers…
We introduce multi-poly-Bernoulli-Carlitz numbers, function field analogues of multi-poly-Bernoulli numbers of Imatomi-Kaneko-Takeda. We explicitly describe multi-poly-Bernoulli Carlitz numbers in terms of the Carlitz factorial and the Stirling-Carlitz numbers of the second kind and also show their relationships with function field analogues of finite multiple zeta values.
In this note, by using the Hasse-Teichmüller derivatives, we obtain two explicit expressions for the related numbers of higher order Appell polynomials. One of them presents a determinant expression for the related numbers of higher order Appell polynomials, which involves several determinant expressions of special numbers, such as the higher order generalized hypergeometric Bernoulli and Cauchy numbers, thus recovers the classical determinant expressions of Bernoulli and Cauchy numbers stated in an article by Glaisher in 1875.
We show that any Appell sequence can be written in closed form as a forward difference transformation of the identity. Such transformations are actually multipliers in the abelian group of the Appell polynomials endowed with the operation of binomial convolution. As a consequence, we obtain explicit expressions for higher order convolution identities referring to various kinds of Appell polynomials in terms of the Stirling numbers. Applications of the preceding results to generalized Bernoulli and Apostol-Euler polynomials of real order are discussed in detail.

Alternating variants of multiple poly-Bernoulli numbers and finite multiple zeta values in characteristic 0 and p This paper consists of two parts: the characteristic 0 part and the characteristic p part. In characteristic 0 part, we introduce an alternating extension of multiple poly-Bernoulli numbers of K. Imatomi, M. Kaneko and E. Takeda and obtain explicit presentations of the alternating finite multiple zeta values introduced by J. Zhao in term of the alternating extension of multiple poly-Bernoulli numbers. In characteristic p part, we introduce positive characteristic analogues of alter…
A construction of new sequences of generalized Bernoulli polynomials of first and second kind is proposed. These sequences share with the classical Bernoulli polynomials many algebraic and number--theoretical properties. A new class of Euler--type polynomials is also presented.
In this paper, we investigate $π(m,n)$, the number of partitions of the \emph{bipartite number} $(m,n)$ into \emph{steadily decreasing} parts, introduced by L.Carlitz ['A problem in partitions', Duke Math Journal 30 (1963), 203--213]. We give a relation between $π(m,n)$ and the crank statistic $M(m,n)$ for integer partitions. Using this relation, some uniform asymptotic formulas for $π(m,n)$ are established.
We introduce new generalizations of the Bernoulli, Euler, and Genocchi polynomials and numbers based on the Carlitz-Tsallis degenerate exponential function and concepts of the Umbral Calculus associated with it. Also, we present generalizations of some familiar identities and connection between these kinds of Bernoulli, Euler, and Genocchi polynomials. Moreover, we establish a new analogue of the Euler identity for the degenerate Bernoulli numbers.
