We consider the action of a semisimple Hopf algebra $H$ on an $m$-Koszul Artin-Schelter regular algebra $A$. Such an algebra $A$ is a derivation-quotient algebra for some twisted superpotential $\mathsf{w}$, and we show that the homological determinant of the action of $H$ on $A$ can be easily calculated using $\mathsf{w}$. Using this, we show that the smash product $A\,\#\,H$ is also a derivation-quotient algebra, and use this to explicitly determine a quiver algebra $Λ$ to which $A\,\#\,H$ is Morita equivalent, generalising a result of Bocklandt-Schedler-Wemyss. We also show how $Λ$ can be used to determine whether the Auslander map is an isomorphism. We compute a number of examples, and show how several results for the quantum Kleinian singularities studied by Chan-Kirkman-Walton-Zhang follow using our techniques.
In this paper we prove that Graded Calabi Yau Algebras of dimension 3 are isomorphic to path algebras of quivers with relations derived from a superpotential. We show that for a given quiver $Q$ and a degree $d$, the set of good superpotentials of degree $d$, i.e. those that give rise to Calabi Yau algebras is either empty or almost everything (in the measure theoretic sense). We also give some constraints on the structure of quivers that allow good superpotentials, and for the simplest quivers we give a complete list of the degrees for which good superpotentials exist.
In this article we study higher preprojective algebras, showing that various known results for ordinary preprojective algebras generalize to the higher setting. We first show that the quiver of the higher preprojective algebra is obtained by adding arrows to the quiver of the original algebra, and these arrows can be read off from the last term of the bimodule resolution of the original algebra. In the Koszul case we are able to obtain the new relations of the higher preprojective algebra by differentiating a superpotential and we show that when our original algebra is $d$-hereditary all the r…
We consider algebras defined from quivers with relations that are k-th order derivations of a superpotential, generalizing results of Dubois-Violette to the quiver case. We give a construction compatible with Morita equivalence, and show that many important algebras arise in this way, including McKay correspondence algebras for GL_n for all n, and four-dimensional Sklyanin algebras. More generally, we show that any N-Koszul, (twisted) Calabi-Yau algebra must have a (twisted) superpotential, and construct its minimal resolution in terms of derivations of the (twisted) superpotential. This yield…
We study quivers with relations given by non-commutative analogs of Jacobian ideals in the complete path algebra. This framework allows us to give a representation-theoretic interpretation of quiver mutations at arbitrary vertices. This gives a far-reaching generalization of Bernstein-Gelfand-Ponomarev reflection functors. The motivations for this work come from several sources: superpotentials in physics, Calabi-Yau algebras, cluster algebras.
For each prime number $s$ we introduce examples of $(s-1)$- and $s$-representation infinite algebras in the sense of Herschend, Iyama and Oppermann, which arise from skew group algebras of some metacyclic groups embedded in $\mathrm{SL}(s,\mathbb{C})$ and $\mathrm{SL}(s+1,\mathbb{C})$. For this purpose, we give a description of the McKay quiver with a superpotential of such groups. Moreover we show that for $s=2$ our examples correspond to the classical tame hereditary algebras of type $\tilde{D}$.
We consider graded twisted Calabi-Yau algebras of dimension 3 which are derivation-quotient algebras of the form $A = \kk Q/I$, where $Q$ is a quiver and $I$ is an ideal of relations coming from taking partial derivatives of a twisted superpotential on $Q$. We define the type $(M, P, d)$ of such an algebra $A$, where $M$ is the incidence matrix of the quiver, $P$ is the permutation matrix giving the action of the Nakayama automorphism of $A$ on the vertices of the quiver, and $d$ is the degree of the superpotential. We study the question of what possible types can occur under the additional as…
This paper generalizes former works of Derksen, Weyman and Zelevinsky about quivers with potentials. We consider semisimple finite-dimensional algebras $E$ over a field $F$, such that $E \otimes_{F} E^{op}$ is semisimple. We assume that $E$ contains a certain type of $F$-basis which is a generalization of a multiplicative basis. We study potentials belonging to the algebra of formal power series, with coefficients in the tensor algebra over $E$, of any finite-dimensional $E$-$E$-bimodule on which $F$ acts centrally. In this case, we introduce a cyclic derivative and to each potential we associ…
We study maximal subalgebras of an arbitrary finite dimensional algebra over a field, and obtain full classification/description results of such algebras. This is done by first obtaining a complete classification in the semisimple case, and then lifting to non-semisimple algebras. The results are sharpest in the case of algebraically closed fields, and take special forms for algebras presented by quivers with relations. We also relate representation theoretic properties of the algebra and its maximal and other subalgebras, and provide a series of embeddings between quivers, incidence algebras …
In this paper, we describe a general setting for dimer models on cylinders over Dynkin diagrams which in type A reduces to the well studied case of dimer models on a disc. We prove that all Berenstein--Fomin--Zelevinsky quivers for Schubert cells in a symmetric Kac--Moody algebra give rise to dimer models on the cylinder over the corresponding Dynkin diagram. We also give an independent proof of a result of Buan, Iyama, Reiten and Smith that the corresponding superpotentials are rigid using the dimer model structure of the quivers.
We describe certain quiver Hopf algebras by parameters. This leads to the classification of multiple Taft algebras as well as pointed Yetter-Drinfeld modules and their corresponding Nichols algebras. In particular, when the ground-field $k$ is the complex field and $G$ is a finite abelian group, we classify quiver Hopf algebras over $G$, multiple Taft algebras over $G$ and Nichols algebras in $^{kG}_{kG} {\cal YD}$. We show that the quantum enveloping algebra of a complex semisimple Lie algebra is a quotient of a semi-path Hopf algebra.
We prove a special case of a conjecture of Davison which pertains to superpotential descriptions of fundamental group algebras $k[π_1(X)]$. We consider the case in which the manifold $X$ is the mapping torus $M_{g, φ}$ of a genus $g$ Riemann surface $Σ_g$ and a finite order automorphism $φ$, and the superpotential structure is given by the Jacobi algebra of a quiver with potential.
Analogous to a recent result of N. Kowalzig and U. Krähmer for twisted Calabi-Yau algebras, we show that the Hochschild cohomology ring of a Frobenius algebra with semisimple Nakayama automorphism is a Batalin-Vilkovisky algebra, thus generalizing a result of T.Tradler for finite dimensional symmetric algebras. We give a criterion to determine when a Frobenius algebra given by quiver with relations has semisimple Nakayama automorphism and apply it to some known classes of tame Frobenius algebras. We also provide ample examples including quantum complete intersections, finite dimensional Hopf a…
We study the subregular $J$-ring $J_C$ of a Coxeter system $(W,S)$, a subring of Lusztig's $J$-ring. We prove that $J_C$ is isomorphic to a quotient of the path algebra of the double quiver of $(W,S)$ by a suitable ideal that we associate to a family of Chebyshev polynomials. As applications, we use quiver representations to study the category mod-$A_K$ of finite dimensional right modules of the algebra $A_K=K\otimes_\Z J_C$ over an algebraically closed field $K$ of characteristic zero. Our results include classifications of Coxeter systems for which mod-$A_K$ is semisimple, has finitely many …
Our investigation in the present paper is based on three important results. (1) In [12], Ringel introduced Hall algebra for representations of a quiver over finite fields and proved the elements corresponding to simple representations satisfy the quantum Serre relation. This gives a realization of the nilpotent part of quantum group if the quiver is of finite type. (2) In [4], Green found a homological formula for the representation category of the quiver and equipped Ringel's Hall algebra with a comultiplication. The generic form of the composition subalgebra of Hall algebra generated by simp…
We show that the Hochschild cohomology of a monomial algebra over a field of characteristic zero vanishes from degree two if the first Hochschild cohomology is semisimple as a Lie algebra. We also prove that first Hochschild cohomology of a radical square zero algebra is reductive as a Lie algebra. In the case of the multiple loops quiver, we obtain the Lie algebra of square matrices of size equal to the number of loops.
This chapter is based on a series of lectures that I gave at the National University of Singapore in April 2013. The notes survey the representation theory of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type A with an emphasis on understanding the KLR grading and the connections between the "classical" ungraded representation theory and the rapidly emerging graded theory. They are fairly self-contained and they try to give a leisurely introduction to these algebras, with many examples and calculations that don't appear elsewhere. We make extensive use of the interactions between the ungraded and graded r…
This paper introduces methods for classifying actions of finite-dimensional Hopf algebras on path algebras of quivers, and more generally on tensor algebras $T_B(V)$ where $B$ is semisimple. We work within the broader framework of finite (multi-)tensor categories $\mathcal{C}$, classifying tensor algebras in $\mathcal{C}$ in terms of $\mathcal{C}$-module categories. We obtain two classification results for actions of semisimple Hopf algebras: the first for actions which preserve the ascending filtration on tensor algebras, and the second for actions which preserve the descending filtration on …
