While the standard model is the most successfully theory to describe all interactions and constituents in elementary particle physics, it has been constantly examined for over four decades. Weak decays of charm quarks can measure the coupling strength of quarks in different families and serve as an ideal probe for CP violation. As the lowest charm-strange baryons with three different flavors, $Ξ_c$ baryons (made of $csu$ or $csd$) have been extensively studied in experiments at the large hadron collider and in electron-positron collision. However the lack of reliable knowledge in theory becomes the unavoidable obstacle in the way. In this work, we use the state-of-the-art Lattice QCD techniques, and generate 2+1 clover fermion ensembles with two lattice spacings, $a=(0.108{\rm fm},0.080{\rm fm})$. We then present the first {\it ab-initio} lattice QCD determination of form factors governing $Ξ_{c}\to Ξ\ell^+ν_{\ell}$, analogous with the notable $β$-decay of nuclei. Our theoretical results for decay widths are consistent with and about two times more precise than the latest measurements by ALICE and Belle collaborations. Together with experimental measurements, we independently determine the quark-mixing matrix element $|V_{cs}|$, which is found in good agreement with other determinations.
Inspired by the present experimental status of charmed-strange mesons, we perform a systematic study of the charmed-strange meson family, in which we calculate the mass spectra of the charmed-strange meson family by taking a screening effect into account in the Godfrey-Isgur model and investigate the corresponding strong decays via the quark pair creation model. These phenomenological analyses of charmed-strange mesons not only shed light on the features of the observed charmed-strange states, but also provide important information on future experimental search for the missing higher radial an…
We present the energy spectra of the low lying doubly-charmed baryons using lattice quantum chromodynamics. We precisely predict the ground state mass of the charmed-strange Omega(cc) (1/2+) baryon to be 3712(11)(12) MeV which could well be the next doubly-charmed baryon to be discovered at the LHCb experiment at CERN. We also predict masses of other doubly-charmed strange baryons with quantum numbers 3/2+, 1/2-, and 3/2-.

Recent measurements of the branching fraction for D_s -> l nu disagree with the Standard Model expectation, which relies on calculations of $f_{D_s}$ from lattice QCD. This paper uses recent preliminary measurements from CLEO and a new preliminary lattice-QCD result from this conference to update the significance of the discrepancy. The "f_{D_s} puzzle" stands now at 3.5sigma, with sigma predominantly from the statistical uncertainty of the experiments. New physics scenarios that could solve the puzzle would also lead to non-Standard amplitudes mediating the semileptonic decays D -> K l nu. Th…
The charmed-strange meson spectrum is calculated with the overlap valence fermions on 2+1 flavor domain wall dynamical configurations for $32^3\times 64$ lattices with a spatial size of 2.7 fm. Both charm and strange quark propagators are calculated with the overlap fermion action. The calculated scalar meson at 2304(22) MeV and axial-vector meson at 2546(27) MeV are in good agreement with the experimental masses of $D{s0}^*$(2317) and $D_{s1}$(2536).
This is basically the update of [arXiv:0809.1869], a review on charmed baryon physics around 2007. Topics of this review include the spectroscopy, strong decays, lifetimes, nonleptonic and semileptonic weak decays, and electromagnetic decays of charmed baryons.
The charmed-strange meson masses are calculated on a quenched lattice QCD. The charm and strange quark propagators are calculated on the same lattice with the overlap fermion. $16^3\times 72$ lattice with Wilson gauge action at $β=0.6345$ are used. The charm and strange quark masses are determined by fitting the $J/ψ$ and $ϕ$ masses respectively. The charmed strange meson spectrum for the scalar, axial, pseudoscalar and vector channels are calculated. They agree with experiments. In particular, we find the scalar meson mass to be 2248(78)MeV which is in agreement with that of D_{s0}^*(2317).
Motivated by the recent surprising discovery of two new meson states with c s-bar quark content but unexpectedly low masses and narrow total decay widths, we work out, in a nonrelativistic potential-model approach developed already some two decades ago, the predictions for the energy levels of the corresponding charm-antistrange quark bound states. In spite of the fact that this simple quark model reproduces the mass spectrum of the previously observed hadrons remarkably well, we are led to the conclusion that, without considerable modifications, both the new states do not fit into this framew…
We compute the mass spectrum for strange/charmed baryons in the partially quenched approach using N_f=2 twisted mass QCD configurations. We investigate two main issues: the size of lattice artefacts using three values of the lattice spacing (the smallest of which is approximately 0.05 fm) and the dependence of baryon masses on meson (or quark) masses. We thus perform a global fit in order to extrapolate simultaneously to the continuum limit and to the physical point. We estimate the masses of Omega_{sss}, Xi_{dss}, Lambda_{uds}, Omega_{ccc}, Xi_{dcc}, Lambda_{udc}.
Our charm program uses a mixed action with twisted-mass valence quarks over non-perturbatively improved Wilson sea quarks, in order to study various quantities in a relativistic and manifestly local framework of full QCD. The sea sector consists of $N_\mathrm{f}=2+1$ ensembles generated by the CLS initiative. Taking advantage of open boundary conditions, this allows access to fine ensembles without topological freezing. Here we focus in particular on our current progress on $D\to Kνl$ and $D\to πνl$ semileptonics. Those are first and foremost useful for the computation of the CKM matrix elemen…
The electromagnetic form factors of the spin-3/2 $Ω$ baryons, namely $Ω$, $Ω_c^\ast$, $Ω_{cc}^\ast$ and $Ω_{ccc}$, are calculated in full QCD on $32^3\times 64$ PACS-CS lattices with a pion mass of 156(9) MeV. The electric charge radii and magnetic moments from the $E0$ and $M1$ multipole form factors are extracted. Results for the electric quadrupole form factors, $E2$, are also given. Quark sector contributions are computed individually for each observable and then combined to obtain the baryon properties. We find that the charm quark contributions are systematically smaller than the strange…
Understanding the properties of the strange $Λ^*$ baryon resonances is a long-standing and fascinating problem. $Λ_c$ charm-baryon semileptonic weak decays to these resonances are highly sensitive to their internal structure and can be used to test theoretical models. We have performed the first lattice-QCD computation of the form factors governing $Λ_c$ semileptonic decays to a $Λ^*$ resonance: the $Λ^*(1520)$, which has negative parity and spin $3/2$. Here we present the resulting Standard-Model predictions of the $Λ_c\toΛ^*(1520)\ell^+ν_\ell$ differential and integrated decay rates as well …
We present spin-independent and spin-spin interquark potentials for the charmonium and charmed-strange mesons, which are calculated in 2+1 flavor lattice QCD simulations using the PACS-CS gauge configurations generated at the lightest pion mass ($M_π\approx 156(7)$~MeV) with a lattice cutoff of $a^{-1}\approx 2.2$ GeV and a spatial volume of $(3~{\rm fm})^3$. For the charm quark, we use a relativistic heavy quark (RHQ) action with fine tuned RHQ parameters, which closely reproduce both the experimental spin-averaged mass and hyper-fine splitting of the $1S$ charmonium. The interquark potential…
The recently discovered charmed-strangemeson Ds0*(2317) has been speculated to be a tetraquark mesonium. We study this suggestion with overlap fermions on 2+1 flavor domain wall fermion configurations. We use 4-quark interpolating operatorswith Z4 grid sources on two lattices (16\times16\times16\times32 and 24\times24\times24 times64) to study the volume dependence of the states in an attempt to discern the nature of the states in the four-quark correlator to see if they are all two-meson scattering states or if one is a tetraquark mesonium. We also use the hybrid boundary condition method for…
We extend the two-flavor hard-wall holographic model of Erlich, Katz, Son and Stephanov [Phys.\ Rev.\ Lett.\ {\bf 95}, 261602 (2005)] to four flavors to incorporate strange and charm quarks. The model incorporates chiral and flavor symmetry breaking and provides a reasonable description of masses and weak decay constants of a variety of scalar, pseudoscalar, vector and axial-vector strange and charmed mesons. In particular, we examine flavor symmetry breaking in the strong couplings of the $ρ$ meson to the charmed $D$ and $D^{*}$ mesons. We also compute electromagnetic form factors of the $π$,…
We update our determinations of $f_{D^+}$, $f_{D_s}$, $f_K$, and quark mass ratios from simulations with four flavors of HISQ dynamical quarks. The availability of ensembles with light quarks near their physical mass means that we can extract physical results with only small corrections for valence- and sea-quark mass mistunings instead of a chiral extrapolation. The adjusted valence-quark masses and lattice spacings may be determined from an ensemble-by-ensemble analysis, and the results for the quark mass ratios then extrapolated to the continuum limit. Our central values of the charmed meso…
We calculate the kaon semileptonic form factors in lattice QCD with three flavors of dynamical overlap quarks. Gauge ensembles are generated at pion masses as low as 290 MeV and at a strange quark mass near its physical value. We precisely calculate relevant meson correlators using the all-to-all quark propagator. Twisted boundary conditions and the reweighting technique are employed to vary the momentum transfer and the strange quark mass. We discuss the chiral behavior of the form factors by comparing with chiral perturbation theory and experiments.
We discuss the status of current dynamical lattice QCD simulations in connection to the emerging results on the strange and charmed baryon spectrum, excited states of the nucleon and the investigation of the structure of scalar mesons.
Extending the SU(3) flavour symmetry breaking expansion from up, down and strange sea quark masses to partially quenched valence quark masses allows an extrapolation to the charm quark mass. This approach leads to a determination of charmed quark hadron masses and decay constants. We describe our recent progress and give preliminary results in particular with regard to the recently discovered doubly charmed baryon by the LHCb Collaboration.
We investigate the charmed baryon mass spectrum using the relativistic heavy quark action on 2+1 flavor PACS-CS configurations previously generated on $32^3 \times 64$ lattice. The dynamical up-down and strange quark masses are set to the physical values by using the technique of reweighting to shift the quark hopping parameters from the values employed in the configuration generation. At the physical point, the lattice spacing equals $a^{-1}=2.194(10)$ GeV and the spatial extent $L=2.88(1)$ fm. Our results for the charmed baryon masses are consistent with experiments except for $Ξ_{cc}$, whic…
We present an update of the Fermilab Lattice and MILC Collaborations project to compute the form factors for semileptonic $B_{(s)}$-meson decays. Our calculation uses the highly improved staggered quark (HISQ) action for sea and valence quarks, and ensembles with up, down, strange, and charm quarks in the sea. Using a highly improved action with the MILC Collaboration's gauge ensembles with lattice spacings down to $a\approx0.03$ fm, allows the heavy valence quarks to be treated with the same discretization as the light and strange quarks. This unified treatment of the valence quarks allows fo…
